- 1953 Jaguar XK120 FBI
This particular example, Chassis # 681234, is one of those 2,680 Fixed Head Coupes. It was built on September 11, 1953, and delivered to Hornburg Jaguar in Los Angeles, California the following month as a black car with a contrasting tan interior. While there is a gap in the ownership history, receipts for parts show that a Harvey Williamson, then CEO of First Pacific National Bank, is believed to be this Jaguar’s long-term California owner who, according to a “bill of sale” later sold it to fellow Californian Jack Rabell in 1999. Around this time, the Jaguar underwent a full restoration to Concours standards, with the cosmetic work being completed by Brian Anderson of Classic European Restorations. Between 2000 and 2011, this XK 120 was displayed at numerous Jaguar Clubs of North America Concours events where it won Best in Class in 2000, 2002, and twice in 2011, among countless other awards. Owing to the incredible quality and attention to detail of the restoration are 99.99, 100.00, and 99.98 point finishes at three different events from 2010 to 2011. At one point this example even received the accolade as “the best XK120 FHC in North America”. According to the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, this Jaguar still retains its original engine and cylinder head along with its original body color. The only change from its original specifications is the interior color, which has been changed from tan to red. More recently this example received a proper service from K&T Vintage Sports Cars in Bethlehem, PA, a well-respected local marque specialist. From May to August 2021, they replaced and repaired several items on this XK120 including a new distributor rotor, wires, and steering arm bushings. From October to December 2021, they installed a new thermostat and housing, an aftermarket overflow and recovery tank, as well as a larger radiator fan. The Jag returned to K&T Vintage Sports Cars earlier this year for a proper sorting and updating to make it turn-key and ready for the next owner. This specific XK120 stands above the rest as being an award-winning older restoration that still holds up well to this day. The recent services performed have maintained the drivetrain in top condition, ensuring it’s ready to take on any winding road or win more trophies on a Concours lawn. Upon purchase, the new owner will receive the tool roll, jack, spare, fitted luggage, and other accessories, as well as the JDHT certificate copy, and all service records on file. This XK120 offers incredible value as the asking price of this example is a fraction of the cost and time it would take to bring another to this level, amazing value in today’s market. EXTERIOR Body And Paint This XK120, finished in Black with spats is emblematic of how good one of these cars can look. The quality of the paint and body work needs to be of the highest standard when in black, and we can report that this is the case with this car. Itis straight down the sides with clean lines and panel fitment throughout. The awards and 99+ point JCNA judging sheets will confirm the deep glass like finish to the paint and overall presentation. For a 20+ year old restoration it has held up very well and remains show worthy to this day. Glass And Trim The glass is a mixture of original and replacement. Basically the only original piece of glass is that of the rear window which still bears the TriPlex insignia along with some blemishes as to be expected from the age. All of the other glass on the car we can assume was replaced when the car was restored and is of an unknown maker. Though they are clear and without issues. Wheels The wheels are indicative of the age of the restoration. They present well overall and at a glance, but upon close inspection once can see some minor chips that have been touched up or a few minor chips noticeable along the wheel edge (likely from tire replacement). The trim rings and center caps are excellent overall, albeit with a few minor imperfections from age, but nothing that warrants refinishing. Notable Flaws The door edge on the driver side does have one or two pencil point sized chips. The grill top where it meets the bonnet shows a chip that was touched up. The bottom of the nose where the bonnet settles into the bonnet shows some cracking. The passenger side vent shows a small chip as well. Lastly, the trunk lid has a faint scuff on the edge where it passes by the bumperette (very common on XK120’s). It appears that the top of the passenger front fender, if viewed in the right light with a critical/trained eye, one car see some minor aging in the paint in the form of primer shrinkage mostly - most people will never see this. All things considered, these are very minor and do not warrant any attention and we would still consider this car to be a competitive show entrant. INTERIOR Seats And Surfaces The interior matches the rest of the vehicle with one goal in mind - winning JCNA events. The surfaces and finishes are correct throughout with no major issues or inconsistencies to note. The door cards, carpet set, leather, wood dash fascia and interior trim are all nicely restored and holding up well. The only notable flaws are some scratching on the sill and some minor wear on the drivers side bolster area. The headliner, center console area, under the dash and parcel shelf are all nicely appointed as well. Functionality And Accessories Just about everything was in correct working order with the exception of the interior cabin lighting and the heater blower motor. Otherwise all knobs, pulls and switches appeared to be in correct working order. ENGINE BAY AND TRUNK Engine Bay The engine bay is very well tended to and remains show worthy. The careful addition of a few items, such as the cooling fan, some upgraded wire connectors and the cooling expansion tank may take away from points if shown. But this car has plenty of accolades already and the recent service was completed with reliable driving in mind. The engine bay is otherwise adorned with correct coatings, clamps, hardware and accessories and shows as correctly as one could hope for. A very well restored and cared for engine bay. Trunk Area Upon opening the trunk, onc can see the same quality as the interior and engine bay. It is clean and attention to detail from the restoration is apparent. Removing the fitted luggage reveals the proper trunk mat and finishes. With all of the tools, jack, spare and other accessories present in their factory positions. Underside The underside is indicative of a proper “body off” restoration. There is no component that was left untouched and the underside remains show quality down to replicated factory markings and correct hardware. Minor blemishes from careful use may be present but overall it is impressive. Notable Flaws The trunk light is not functioning at the moment and the stay where the prop rod goes has put a small scratch into the liner. As well as in the engine bay, the porcelain exhaust manifolds have started to show spider cracks as is typical with these cars. MECHANICALS Engine The engine starts easily, starts on choke and comes off as intended automatically. It holds strong oil pressure throughout the rev range and remains cool (though we have not used this car extensively). There are no abnormal noises, no smoke and the vehicle operates as intended as far as we have been able to test. Transmission The 4-speed Moss Box operates as well as designed with no issues noted. Brakes And Suspension The brakes work very well and are properly tuned with no pulling from side to side present and the suspension is firm but functioning correctly with no concerning noises present. Tires The tires are Vredestein Sprint Classic 185HR16’s 93H on all 5 wheels dated for 2019 and appear to be nearly new with limited use. DRIVING EXPERIENCE XK120’s offer Jaguar’s first post-war driving experience and the genesis to the XK and the later E-Type line of sports cars. This particular car does everything as expected of a show winner and was restored to win. However, while it does run and drive and benefits from a recent servicing this car is primed to be used while also retaining the qualifications to be shown. It feels good behind the wheel, but it also feels new, and we recommend that the next caretaker put some serious miles on this example to let it settle into a post-show routine of use and enjoyment. This is an impressive restoration that is now ready for spirited use. 1953 Jaguar XK120 FBI LBI Limited If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1964 Ferrari 250 LM by Scaglietti
DEVELOPMENT OF THE REAR-ENGINE 250 GT It is arguable that amid the tide of mid/rear-placed engine architecture that has steadily advanced in sports car design since the late 1950s, one manufacturer looms larger than all others—Ferrari. Maranello’s embrace of this race-developed design stretches back to Dino Ferrari’s V-6 engine of the late 1950s, which was installed aft of the driver in the Scuderia’s Formula One cars in 1960 to great results. Not long after, Ferrari began to engineer a sports car in this manner, resulting in the sensuous rear-engine 246 SP, the first in a small batch of Sports Prototype racecars with ever-increasing displacements. Despite the continued evolution of the Dino V-6, however, the SP racecars often failed to keep pace with their larger-engined competitors. This prompted Maranello’s engineers to consider a rear-placed V-12, and in early 1963 chassis number 0796, which began life as a 246 SP, was equipped with a 3-liter Colombo short-block engine tuned to Testa Rossa specifications. This was the prototype example of the legendary 250 P racecar, a model that went on to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1963. Given the success of the mid/rear placed V-12 in the prototype racer, it was only logical for Ferrari to transition the design to GT class competition. The 250 P was used as the basis for this new berlinetta, which would essentially add a roof to the prototype’s open coachwork. Sergio Scaglietti’s carrozzeria fashioned one of its most acclaimed masterpieces, commencing with the 250 P’s front end and fender treatments, but capping them with a low roof truncated at the rear with flying buttress edges, which then swept down through the racecar’s rear clamshell. The new model was dubbed the 250 LM, for Le Mans, and was officially introduced at the 1963 Paris Salon with chassis number 5149. With such an exotic appearance and competition-tuned performance envelope, the LM was a clear forerunner of the wave of large-displacement rear-engine supercars that soon followed. Considering that the 250 GT engine claimed 10 years of production in its favor, the LM appeared to qualify for FIA homologation by at least one definition, and Ferrari expected nothing less than class dominance to follow. Nevertheless, in an effort to bolster the model’s pretense as a regular roadgoing production car that belonged in GT class racing, Maranello made some trifling efforts to assuage critics, dutifully equipping the cars with horns and spare wheels, and even printing sales brochures. But the FIA’s Commission Sportive Internationale (CSI) was not so easily convinced, particularly after Ferrari began installing a more advanced engine in the car, the 3.3-liter Colombo V-12 with dry-sump lubrication that eventually found a more permanent home in the forthcoming 275 GTB road car. The motor rather obviously gave the 250 LM an edge in the GT class, and the CSI accordingly refused to grant the model homologation for production-based racing, reasoning that the new motor exceeded class rules, and an insufficient number of cars had been built. Instead, they approved the 250 LM for entry into the Prototype class alone, where the model’s 3.3-liter engine would be hopelessly outmuscled by large-displacement models like the Ford GT40 and Ferrari’s own P2 Spider. Enzo Ferrari was so angry over the FIA’s decision that he temporarily resigned his entrant’s license in protest, and the factory went on to relatively distance itself from the project, selling most examples to privateers and its principal racing concessionaires, the Scuderia Filipinetti, the Garage Francorchamps, Maranello Concessionaires, and Luigi Chinetti’s North American Racing Team. The 250 LM’s most successful foray in competition undoubtedly occurred at the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans, where five different examples were entered by an assortment of private teams, including Filipinetti and NART. If there was one undeniable advantage of running a Colombo V-12 in a Prototype class, it was that the engine had been in constant development for over 10 years, ensuring a level of reliability that was elusive for the more powerful prototype racecars. At the close of 24 hours of grueling racing, the NART-entered chassis number 5893 driven by Masten Gregory and Jochen Rindt roared to victory, bringing Ferrari its sixth consecutive Le Mans win, and sealing the 250 LM’s legend in the process. Just 32 examples of the mighty 250 LM were built through mid-1966, and it remains one of the most desirable Ferrari models of all time, encapsulating advanced race-engineered mechanicals, sensuous coachwork cues, and a Le Mans-winning pedigree. It should come as little surprise that 250 LM examples are closely treasured by their owners, only seldom being offered in public settings. All of which makes the availability of the featured lot an extremely rare opportunity for passionate Ferrari collectors. CHASSIS NUMBER 6053—A JOURNEY TO LE MANS Claiming period competition use at Le Mans, as well as a no-cost-barred restoration completed in 2021 by Ferrari Classiche, this breathtaking 250 LM is a particularly desirable example of Maranello’s legendary racecar. Chassis number 6053 is the 22nd example built, and after being finished in the iconic 250 LM livery of Rosso Cina over seats trimmed in Bleu cloth upholstery, the car was delivered in October 1964 to Colonel Ronnie Hoare’s Maranello Concessionaires, the well-known marque distributor and factory-preferred privateer client in Great Britain. The Ferrari was sold new to British driver George Drummond, and he immediately set about competition on the local BRSCC circuits while occasionally entering larger events worldwide. Early highlights included a class win at Wiscombe Park in April 1965, and four overall wins over the next four months at Brands Hatch, Snetterton (twice), and Silverstone. In February 1966 the Ferrari was entered at the 24 Hours of Daytona as race #24, to be driven by Innes Ireland, Mike Hailwood, and Drummond. Photos taken at this event demonstrate that by this time, side-marker lights had been mounted high on the door sides. Unfortunately the car was forced to retire after 90 laps with a gearbox failure. Over the following two years, 6053 recorded at least eight more starts, and among these appearances, Ferrari factory driver Michael Parkes took the wheel at the Austrian Grand Prix of September 1966, finishing 3rd in class and 8th overall. Chassis number 6053 continued campaigning local British races before being entered in four events in Africa during November and December 1967, including the Kyalami 9 Hours. Among these races, the LM roared to a 5th-overall finish at the Lourenço Marques 3 Hours in Mozambique. In May 1968 Drummond offered the Ferrari for sale and it was acquired by the London-based Paul Vestey Racing, with whom the car would take its greatest stage. Paul Vestey had been campaigning a different 250 LM, the ex-Maranello Concessionaires-run chassis number 6167. David Piper was driving 6167 on the legendarily difficult Targa Florio when a steering arm came loose, forcing the car to careen over a hillside. Though the chassis and body were beyond repair, the engine and transaxle were easily salvaged by removing both components as one unit, as was common practice with these cars in period. This proved to be quite significant to Vestey, because engine number 6167 had already been approved by the Le Mans scrutineers, as demonstrated by a stamping that remains on the motor today. With the approved engine but no car, Vestey was rapidly in search of a replacement chassis, prompting his purchase of 6053 from George Drummond. After acquiring the berlinetta the owner installed engine number 6167/22LM and transaxle number 17, with his sights firmly locked on the upcoming 24-hour endurance event. Vestey’s car was one of six Ferrari 250 LM examples entered at the 1968 24 Hours of Le Mans, which was unusually postponed to September because of nationwide labor strikes. Refinished in a purplish dark blue with a white stripe, and wearing race #19, the Ferrari was piloted at La Circuit du Sarthe by the owner and American driver Roy Pike, and it qualified for a 32nd-place starting position. Over the first hour on Saturday afternoon 6053 impressively climbed six places to 26th, a position it held through the second hour, when Vestey lost control while attempting to negotiate the Arnage Corner. A spin and shunt ensued that required some minor pit repairs to the car’s rear end. By the time Roy Pike reentered the fray, the LM had dropped to 46th place, though Pike managed to claw back some positioning by advancing to 31st place through the 10th hour. Then, on the 99th lap, fate caught up to 6053. The gearbox failed and the Ferrari was forced to retire early, prematurely ending Vestey’s quest for triumph at La Sarthe. There was no shame in this result, however, considering that of the 54 cars that began the race a mere 15 of them managed to finish the grueling contest. AMERICAN RENAISSANCE Following the conclusion of its European racing career, the 250 LM was sold in April 1969 through the well-known British dealer Colin Crabbe to Richard Merritt of Bethesda, Maryland, one of the co-founders of the Ferrari Club of America. Mr. Merritt quickly resold the berlinetta to Terry Myr of Detroit, who before long entrusted the respected Kirk White Motorcars to sell the car to the equally esteemed dealer Harley Cluxton. In 1971 Cluxton sold the car to Robert Sutherland of Denver, Colorado, and he commissioned a complete restoration three years later, presenting the car at the FCA Meeting at Rockton, Illinois, in May 1975. In 1983 the Ferrari was acquired by Anthony Podell of Manhattan Beach, California, and he entrusted Mike McCluskey to perform some restoration measures before enjoying the car in vintage racing at the 1987 Chicago Historic, and the 1988 Monterey Historic Races. Later that year the car was sold to a Swiss enthusiast who retained possession for two years before selling the car to the Mitsubishi Corporation in 1990, beginning a new chapter of life in Japan. Four years later the Ferrari passed to collector Shiroh Kosaka, and he dutifully pampered the 250, sending it in 1999 to be restored by Dino Colognato’s well-known shop in Vigonza, Italy. Mr. Kosaka was a loyal steward of the car for many years, only offering it for sale in 2018 after a remarkable period of 24 years of fastidious care. In 2018 the 250 LM was purchased by the consignor, one of the country’s most respected collectors of top-shelf vintage Ferrari racecars. The owner soon submitted the car to the Ferrari factory for full restoration and certification by Ferrari Classiche. Completed in 2021, the painstaking refurbishment is documented with an impressive booklet produced by Ferrari that concludes the car is the authentic one driven by Paul Vestey at Le Mans in 1968. As reiterated on the Ferrari Classiche certification, the car continues to retain the engine and transaxle from chassis number 6167, as raced at Le Mans in September 1968. Following the expert restoration by the ultimate authority on vintage racing Ferraris, 6053 was proudly displayed at the Ferrari Finals at Mugello in November 2021, after which it was exhibited at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena. In August 2022 the car was presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, completing its journey from gritty Le Mans racecar to a celebrated show car. Documentation for this important Maranello racecar is nothing short of outstanding. The car’s file includes copies of factory build sheets, certificate of origin, and SEFAC invoice; period correspondence from Paul Vestey; period expense notes made by Carrozzeria Sports Cars’ Franco Zucchi; Carnet de Passages and related 1968 Le Mans paperwork; signed statements of fact by Sir Paul Vestey and marque experts Marcel Massini and Brooke Betz; numerous period racing photographs that include detailed analysis of the car’s evolution; former owners’ correspondence, including emails to Dino Colognato’s son; and the impressive factory-issued summary of the recent restoration by Ferrari Classiche (not to mention the Red Book, itself). It should be noted that unlike most seriously campaigned 250 LM examples, chassis number 6053 is believed to have never suffered a significant accident, and it retains its matching-numbers chassis and coachwork, as well as the engine and transaxle utilized at the 1968 24 Hours of Le Mans, as clarified by the Ferrari Classiche Red Book. It is also worth considering that the LM is one of the legendary three racing models of this period, alongside the 250 GTO and Testa Rossa. Yet of these three models, investment into the ranks of LM ownership is available at a comparative fraction of the price, making acquisition of this important example a relative bargain into the most exclusive Ferrari racing pantheon. This phenomenal 250 LM abounds in fascinating race-equipped details, from the six huge Weber 38 DCN carburetors topped with velocity stacks and enclosed in a cold air box, to the alloy Borrani wire wheels and the correct Rosso Cina paint over Bleu cloth upholstery. The important competition Ferrari furthermore represents a significant design benchmark in Maranello’s engineering history while claiming legitimate Le Mans racing experience. Capped with the fastidious Ferrari Classiche restoration and certification, this highly desirable 250 LM checks all the metaphorical boxes, offering a rare opportunity for dedicated marque collectors to acquire one of Maranello’s most treasured models. 1964 Ferrari 250 LM by Scaglietti RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. A Gentleman’s Porsche — restored to perfection, with its soul intact. This 1970 Porsche 911T Coupé left the factory in Stuttgart wearing a shade that would become a cult favourite: Irischgrün, paired with a refined black leather interior. Delivered new to San Antonio, Texas, and specified with period options such as rubber bumperettes and Koni shock absorbers, it represented the elegant touring end of Porsche’s now-iconic F-series. But don’t be fooled by the “T” for Touring — its 2.2-litre, air-cooled flat-six delivers the kind of mechanical charisma that made Porsche a household name on both road and racetrack. What makes this example truly special? Matching numbers, matching colours, and a restoration worthy of the Porsche crest. Between 2019 and 2022, this 911T underwent a no-expense-spared, nut-and-bolt restoration. The body was stripped and refinished in its original Irischgrün. The engine and gearbox were meticulously rebuilt. Suspension, electrics, and brakes received the same expert attention. And the interior — now reupholstered in supple black leather — remains faithful to its factory specification. Total restoration costs? Over €44,000, all fully documented. The result is a car that offers two equally compelling pleasures: to drive it as the engineers intended — light, nimble, and utterly mechanical — or to simply sit beside it in your garage with a glass of Burgundy and admire its sculpted lines. This is the kind of car we’d sell to a friend, or buy for ourselves. A gentleman’s sports car, restored with integrity, and ready for the next chapter in its story. - 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series1
Of all the versions of Jaguar's long-lived and much loved sports car, it’s the very early 3.8-litre cars built prior to February 1962 (retrospectively known as 'flat floor') which, for many enthusiasts, remain the most desirable. Around 2,000 of the early cars were built with a flat floor under the pedals, but the driving position was not ideal for taller drivers, so changes were made to the footwell, creating a recess for the driver's heels. The lovely 1962 3.8-litre Roadster offered here is indeed one of those sought after early ‘flat-floor’ cars and the accompanying Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate confirms that #850334 was a right-hand drive car finished in Opalescent Gunmetal Grey with a dark blue interior and matching soft top. The build was finished on 6th January 1962 prior to being despatched on the 16th of the same month to Henlys, London, who registered it to its first lucky owner on the 29th. Interestingly, the chassis number and build date indicate that this was one of the first six right-hand drive roadsters built in 1962. Whilst in the ownership of Malcolm Acors, the car was fully restored and upgraded to 4.2-litres by Fullbridge Jaguar in Maldon, Essex alongside a matching Coupé and both cars were featured in a multi-page article in Jaguar World Magazine. In 2007, 6032 DD was entrusted to Eagle E-Types to upgrade to a 'Sports-Specification Eagle' which appears to be a combination of their GT, Classic, Sport and Super option packages and a full list entitled 'Eagle Endorsed E-Type – Current Specification/Proposal' is with the car. It’s a long list, covering essentially electrics, cooling, suspension and brakes but there are some substantial upgrades including a 5-speed gearbox, high-lift camshafts, diaphragm clutch and 6" stainless wire wheels with modern tyres. 850334/6032 DD was purchased by our vendor on 17th February 2012 to join his Collection and was used very lightly, but regularly, over the following years as can be seen by the MOT history (for some of this time the car was registered 5 AXD). The indicated mileage at the time of cataloguing was 4,007. Annual servicing, check-overs and maintenance has been carried out by Eagle and they have also been responsible for storing the car for long periods. Copy invoices from Eagle to the value of £13,298 (all dated 2012) are in the file which also contains Job Cards for the following years. The hood (soft-top) appears to have been replaced in September 2012 at a cost of £2,600. The final invoice in the history file is from DK Engineering, dated 2nd July 2019 for an 'Annual Service & Report' at 3,660 miles and totalling £1,112. Here at Iconic Auctioneers we have been instrumental in helping several hundred Jaguar E-Types find new homes and probably could be forgiven for becoming slightly blasé about these remarkable cars, however we defy anyone to look at these stunning Alan Kenny images of this Opalescent Gunmetal early Roadster relaxing in the late-afternoon sunshine and not feel that it is one of the most beautiful motor cars they had ever seen. We welcome and encourage any inspection of this important Jaguar. 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series1 Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1971-fiat-dino-2400-spider-by-pininfarina
In the mid-1960s, Ferrari, then still a relatively small manufacturer, sought to homologate its 2.0-liter V-6 engine for Formula 2 competition. Lacking the capacity to meet the required 500 unit annual production requirement, Ferrari found an unlikely partner in Fiat, who committed to building the engines as well as developing a suitable grand touring car to house them. Unveiled at the 1966 Turin Motor Show in Pininfarina-bodied Spider form, the resulting Fiat Dino featured Ferrari’s four-cam V-6 mounted in the front, delivering 160 factory-rated horsepower and graced by one of Pininfarina’s most timeless designs with fluid lines, balanced proportions, and a purposeful Italian stance. A longer-wheelbase Bertone Coupe followed in 1967, but it was the launch of the 2400 series in 1969 that brought substantial mechanical advancements. Engine displacement increased to 2.4 liters, which brought horsepower to 180, while a new engine block design improved reliability. The 2400 also received a ZF five-speed gearbox, enlarged disc brakes, and independent rear suspension, vastly enhancing road manners. One of approximately 425 examples equipped with the uprated 2.4-liter Ferrari V-6, this striking Fiat Dino 2400 Spider, chassis 1396, was delivered new to Italy, where it reportedly remained through at least the mid-1980s. Imported to the United States by the consignor in 2014, the car subsequently underwent a thorough multi-year restoration which included rebuilds of the engine, transmission, differential, suspension, and braking systems. Finished in its elegant factory-correct shade of Amaranto (162) over beige vinyl trim and fitted with Campagnolo alloy wheels, 1396 is further enhanced via a rare factory hardtop. The car is now accompanied by its Italian registration booklet, factory hardtop with stand, spare set of wheels with tires, and a file of restoration invoices. Combining Ferrari engineering with Turin craftsmanship, all cloaked in a timeless Pininfarina design, the Fiat Dino 2400 Spider remains a compelling and collectable Italian grand tourer, as exhilarating to drive as it is to behold. 1971 Fiat Dino 2400 Spider by Pininfarina RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. An analog clock and oil-temperature gauge are housed in the center console. The six-digit odometer shows 42k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership. The mid-mounted 2.9L quad-cam V8 is equipped with four valves per cylinder, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, and an aftermarket intake tube and exhaust system. The oil-pressure sending unit does not work, and the smog pump, air-injection tubes, and catalytic converter have been removed. Work performed in 2020 included rebuilding the water pump and replacing the fuel filter, spark plugs, camshaft seals, timing and engine-accessory belts, and distributor and valve cover gaskets. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. - 1985-porsche-930-turbo-s-slantnose
This 1985 930 Turbo S was ordered from the factory with the flat-nose bodywork, painted in Black with a matching black leather interior. It was delivered new to Hamburg, Germany, and in the mid-1990s, was imported to the United States via Texas. The car lived in the United States for ten years, residing in both Missouri and Massachusetts before going back across the pond to Germany once again in 2006. Presenting in exceptional condition, the car has received some paint work but never a full re-spray, and it recently underwent a thorough paint correction prior to sale. Sitting on a set of original RUF 5-spoke wheels, these, too, have been completely refurbished with silver-painted centers and polished lips. Sitting out the back is a custom-made quad-tip exhaust, which is a signature 930 Turbo S piece that was painstakingly replicated during the engine rebuild, as Porsche no longer makes this piece. The black leather interior has received some upgrades over the years but all of them are high-quality and period-correct. The first thing you notice when you swing open the door is the two Recaro Classic seats in place of the standard Porsche units. These seats offer better bolsters, improved comfort, and power adjustability on top of the thigh bolster. Additionally, the 3-spoke Italvolanti steering wheel was ordered through Sonderwunsch, and the gauge cluster has been upgraded with a large boost gauge to the right of the speedometer and an air-fuel gauge in the lower dash binnacle. Although it isn’t known when some of these upgrades were made, they are all era-appropriate and don’t look out of place in the cabin of this 930. Powered by the same 3.3-liter air-cooled single turbocharged flat-6 as the regular 930, Flachbau cars were almost always upgraded to “WLS” specifications. WLS is the abbreviation of Werksleistungssteigerung, which translates to Works Performance Increase, and was the factory tuning package that could be specified on RoW 930s. This increased power from 296 horsepower on the standard car to 325, and torque increased from 304 to 319 lb-ft. It also gave the car quad exit exhaust and an additional oil cooler to handle the additional power. Open the rear bonnet on this car and you can tell that it recently received a complete rebuild to extremely exacting standards. The engine bay is incredibly clean and looks better than when it came out of the Porsche factory. In the last year alone, more than €100,000 was spent on restoration work - predominately at Roitmayer Motor Sport in Munich, Germany. In addition to the engine rebuild, this 930 received performance cams, a KKK TTE550 turbocharger and custom headers and exhaust. A recent dyno run showed a horsepower rating of 412 hp (418 PS) and the addition of a modern turbo means that power comes on in a more linear way than on the original 930 making the car far more enjoyable to drive. This is emphasized even further by installing a new Drexler limited slip differential and a sport clutch and flywheel for the car’s 4-speed manual gearbox. The Porsche 930 Turbo is a legend in its own right, but if you really want to stand out, there is nothing that does the job better than a 930 Turbo S Flachbau. Not only is this example one of the rare few with a factory-installed slant nose, but with the recent engine work by marque specialists, it is sure to be one of the best driving anywhere. Offered with an enormous stack of invoices, this 930 Turbo S Flachbau is not one to miss. 1985 Porsche 930 Turbo S Slantnose ISSIMI, Inc If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
