- 1987 Porsche 959 Komfort 1
It is hard to overstate just how truly ahead of its time the Porsche 959 was when it debuted in 1985. It unequivocally redefined the supercar market at its very highest end, where there are no compromises on performance or limitations on cost. The 959’s distinctive styling, mind-bending performance, and novel technological breakthroughs immediately made it a “poster car” for an entire generation of automotive enthusiasts. Helmuth Bott and Manfred Bantle’s team of engineers at Porsche were given free rein to pursue an enviably open-ended brief: To create the world’s most advanced—and capable—supercar. In every department, Porsche engineers utilized innovative technologies, no matter the cost, to unlock unparalleled levels of performance. Sequential turbochargers, cutting-edge adjustable suspension, an intelligent four-wheel-drive system, Kevlar composite body panels, and hollow-spoke magnesium wheels made the model nothing short of a game-changer. After testing the 959 with Bantle, noted journalist Csaba Csere remarked, “The most disturbing flaw of all is that you can't buy a 959. Not even if you have enough money…Porsche has sold out the entire production run…none of which was built to American specifications.” Nonetheless, a group of three extremely determined American enthusiasts still dared to dream of a 959: Ralph Lauren, Larry Hedrick, and Norman Stone. Together, these three men negotiated a special exemption with the US government so that they could enjoy their 959s on public roads. By the time negotiations were finalized during October 1992, the three had each paid $50,000 to the NTHSA, a much larger sum to AmeriSpec Corporation of Danbury, Connecticut to modify the cars for EPA emissions compliance, and a veritable mountain of cash to a Washington, DC lobbying firm. Offered here from the Dare to Dream Collection is one of the special 959s that featured in this fascinating tale of automotive enthusiasm. The 59th of 207 Komfort-spec examples produced by Porsche, it was completed at Zuffenhausen on 17 March 1988 and sold new to dealer MAS Meyer Automobile Service KG in Bonn, where it was briefly registered with the vanity plate “BN-KM959.” Three months later, this car was sold to Dr. Norman Clement Stone, a noted Bay Area art collector, psychotherapist, philanthropist, and Porschephile who local media say—and as the story of this 959 rightly affirms—“was always early to a trend, in either investment or fashion.” Documentation illustrates that Stone took delivery of the car on a Tourist’s Pass in Germany, after which it was imported to the Port of New York alongside Ralph Lauren’s 959 on 27 June 1988. Both cars were then sent under bond to Amerispec and modified for US emissions testing, and it is understood that the instrument cluster and odometer were changed to miles at this time. Following successful testing, Dr. Stone picked up his 959 from Connecticut and proceeded to drive it cross country to his home in San Francisco while using a California dealer plate which Porsche specialist Andial had loaned him. Amazingly, by January 1989 Stone had added nearly 9,000 miles to this 959! Over the following 25 years of his ownership, he had the car religiously maintained by both Andial in Santa Ana and Canepa Design of Scotts Valley. An exhaustive trove of service invoices dating back to 1989 leaves zero doubt that this special Porsche was enjoyed and cared for with equal enthusiasm. Fearing a shortage of parts available from Germany for his beloved 959, in August 2001 Stone had Andial order $45,000 of spare parts directly from Porsche to be kept as his own exclusive stash. The 959 has long been renowned by privileged enthusiasts as an eminently usable vehicle, with many examples of the model now having covered comparably high mileage to other supercars of the era. Even Porsche CEO Ferdinand Piëch, as well as Championship-winning Audi Group B works driver Walter Röhrl, daily drove examples of this remarkable model. In fact, Stone used this 959 as his daily transportation for more than 15 years, and when he consigned it to Canepa in 2009 for a suspension overhaul and mechanical diagnosis, the odometer indicated more than 68,000 miles. In 2013, the car benefitted from the Canepa Suspension Upgrade package, replacing the complex OEM hydraulic adjustable suspension with Penske custom-valved shock absorbers and titanium coil-over springs, among other improvements. This was carried out in concert with other service work for a total in excess of $51,000. In June 2014 Stone sold this 959 to the consignor, and he immediately returned it to Canepa Design for the beginning of a comprehensive 14-month interior and exterior restoration and upgrade regimen to the tune of $285,000. A substantial and detailed accompanying file of invoices follows each step of the car’s revival and subsequent transformation to Canepa’s vaunted, 640-horsepower “Phase II” specification. Included in these extensive upgrades was an exclusive Motec ECU and new wiring harness, a custom exhaust system, new pair of high-efficiency turbochargers, Canepa Design headlights, upgraded ignition and electricals, intercooler and wastegate modifications, and a laundry list of further improvements which have rendered a faster, more direct, and more comfortable roadgoing character to an already legendary supercar. Put simply, the Porsche 959 is amazing. Any collection would be immensely privileged to count an example of this legendary model among its ranks. The performance, technology, aesthetics, comfort: All combine to create an exceptionally outstanding vehicle of great importance. 1987 Porsche 959 Komfort RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1971 Maserati Ghibli SS 4.9 Spyder by Ghia
Introduced at the 1966 Turin Motor Show, the Maserati Ghibli took the automotive world by storm, powered by a potent new 4.7-liter dry-sump V-8 engine capable of developing 310 horsepower. Showgoers were awestruck by the groundbreaking coachwork by Ghia’s Giorgetto Giugiaro, who penned a low and wide aerodynamic coupe featuring pop-up headlamps, a raked windshield, and a sweeping fastback rear end. The Ghibli soon became the preferred choice of jet-set celebrities around the globe, finding favor with A-list buyers as diverse as comedic actor Peter Sellers, French New Wave cinema star Jean-Paul Belmondo, entertainer Sammy Davis, Jr, and professional basketball player Wilt Chamberlain. As with any great sports car coupe, customer demand eventually skyrocketed for an open-top version, and Maserati answered the call with a spyder that debuted on Ghia’s stand at the 1968 Turin Motor Show. With the roof removed, the coachwork design took on a totally different character, emphasizing the flowing beltlines and luxurious dimensions. The prototype proved to be the first of only 128 examples built, ensuring a degree of rarity that has only solidified the model’s cachet in the eyes of collectors today. Spyder production eventually phased almost exclusively to the uprated 4.9 SS engine that appeared in 1969. With an increased displacement of 4,930 cubic centimeters, and aspirated by larger Weber 42 DCNF/11 carburetors, the engine now developed 335 horsepower and 355 pound-feet of torque, delivering a commensurate uptick in performance. By the end of Ghibli production 45 examples of the 4.9-liter spyder had been built, of which just 30 were reportedly distributed to the US. Of those, just 24 cars were equipped with a manual gearbox, putting the featured lot in very exclusive company. According to Maserati records, chassis number 1239 was completed in February 1971, equipped with a 4.9-liter SS engine and a manual gearbox, finished in Rosso Fuoco (fire red) paint, and trimmed with an interior of Nero leather. The spyder was distributed new to a dealer in West Nyack, New York, and presumably remained in American ownership for the ensuing 40 years. By March 2012 the Maserati was owned by a collector in New York, and four years later it was acquired by the consignor. Faithfully finished in its factory-correct color combination of Rosso Fuoco over Nero, this Ghibli SS Spyder continues to present wonderfully, benefitting from a restoration that was obviously conducted at some point in the not-too-distant past. It is important to note that this Ghibli desirably retains its matching-numbers 4.9-liter SS engine, the hallmark of any truly collectible Maserati. It is also favorably equipped with a Blaupunkt radio, wire wheels, and air conditioning. Appropriate for enjoyment now, or a great candidate for a full restoration, this rare and beautiful Maserati spyder would make an outstanding complement to sporting collections worldwide, sure to tug at the heartstrings of any enthusiast of significant Italian sports cars. 1971 Maserati Ghibli SS 4.9 Spyder by Ghia RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1993 Bugatti EB110
To bring a long-dormant automotive brand back to life is no mean feat; the stakes are even higher when the marque in question is one as hallowed as Bugatti. In the late 1980s, however, Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli rose to the challenge, and while his dream was relatively short-lived, the vehicles he did bring to fruition—the Bugatti EB110 GT and its even more potent evolution, the EB110 Super Sport—can truly be said to have done justice to the legendary nameplate. After several years of relentless development, and anticipating production success, Artioli went so far as to commission a stylish modern factory for the reborn automaker; its scale spoke to the size of his ambition. Although Artioli’s iteration of Bugatti was located in the high-performance hotspot that is Modena, Italy, rather than Bugatti’s original (and current) home of Molsheim, France, one imagines that Ettore Bugatti himself would have appreciated the scale and grandeur of the impressive, architecturally imposing facility. Yet the cars produced at that facility would be even more impressive. The first of a planned range of offerings was the EB110, so named in honor of Ettore Bugatti’s 110th birthday. It would be built on a carbon-fiber chassis manufactured by French aerospace concern Aérospatiale. Now common in modern supercars, this advanced composite material was selected because the originally planned aluminum honeycomb was found to be too flexible for use in the ultra-high-performance mid-engine machine. The chassis was wrapped in striking bodywork that, in production form, combined elements of a concept design by Marcello Gandini with refinements by Giampaolo Benedini. For power, the EB110 GT received a distinctive 3.5-liter quad-turbocharged V-12 paired with a six-speed manual transmission. A finely tuned all-wheel-drive system, yet another forward-looking piece of supercar technology, helped tame its 553 horsepower while ensuring that the EB110 would be as tractable as it was trackable. Looking to further increase performance, Bugatti announced the EB110 Super Sport at the Geneva Salon in 1992, six months after the launch of the EB110 GT. Through a series of weight-saving and performance enhancements, Bugatti was able to reduce weight by more than 330 pounds while bumping output to a reported 603 horsepower. Its 0–60 sprint is said to have taken just 3.2 seconds, and its stated top speed was 221 mph. Even today, these are jaw-dropping figures. As with any modern supercar, the EB110, and particularly the Super Sport variant, evolved through a careful series of prototypes, including the important example offered for sale here. This car, chassis PCD39006, is one of just three prototypes created for development of the EB110 Super Sport. Manufactured in early 1993, the car was initially built only as a carbon-fiber frame and roll cage without any mechanical parts, to be used by the United Test and Assembly Center in France for non-destructive homologation tests. By June 1993, the chassis had been completed and equipped with a two-wheel-drive system. A specially modified engine (numbered 009) was fitted for fuel-homologation testing and to help develop a U.S.-legal EB110. The first group of EB110s had a significant issue with fuel delivery resulting from the car initially having two separate fuel tanks and fillers, one for each bank of the 3.5-liter V-12 engine. This caused the engine to run on only six cylinders if one tank ran dry before the other. Bugatti engineers used the prototype offered here to develop a dual-tank system with a single filler to eliminate this problem. After its fuel-system testing, PCD39006 was returned to the factory to be retrofitted with an all-wheel-drive system and a new engine. The block for this engine, number 0026, had been used by Bugatti in a different development prototype, GT007, known internally as the C8. After receiving its all-wheel-drive system and engine, PCD39006 was then retained by Bugatti as a factory prototype for use in addressing any ongoing issues with the model. In response to clients’ questions or complaints, Bugatti would look to this car to create suitable solutions which could then be implemented on later models. For this reason, it retains various factory modifications not found on other EB110 prototypes, including its twin-tank system with single fuel filler, a carbon-fiber engine lid cover, and a revised gear selector. The car would remain with Bugatti as the company hit financial woes in 1995, eventually being sold through bankruptcy proceedings to its first owner in Holland on 12 December 1997. After his purchase, the first owner entrusted German automotive performance company Dauer Racing to bring the car up to legal road standards. After the dissolution of Bugatti, Dauer Racing, considered a foremost authority on the EB110, purchased most of Bugatti’s unused parts and chassis. In May 1999, the car was acquired by its second owner, who lived in Utrecht, Netherlands. It would change hands again but remain in the Netherlands as part of a private collection for at least another 10 years. By 2015, the EB110 Super Sport was registered in the United Kingdom. In July of that year, it was sent to B-Engineering, the small shop in Campogalliano, Italy founded by former Bugatti employees, specializing in maintenance and restoration of the EB110. The Bugatti was subsequently entered in various motoring events, including the 2015 Salon Privé, where it won the title of Best Pre-Millenial Supercar, before passing to its next owner in 2018 and became part of a notable private collection in Denmark. It remained there for some years, before being acquired and transported to the United States. Now presented in stunning concours condition, this exceptionally rare example showed just 3,528 kilometers (2,192 miles) at cataloguing time and is certainly among the finest and most unique EB110s in existence. Finished in factory-correct Grigio Metallic over Blu Scuro trim with bright blue seat belts, the car is documented by its original warranty and service booklet as well as a Bugatti Certificate of Authenticity and a report by the EB100 Registry. Given its exceptionally low mileage, and use as a factory testbed, this EB110 Super Sport Prototype is a truly remarkable automobile in every sense. 1993 Bugatti EB110 RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright To bring a long-dormant automotive brand back to life is no mean feat; the stakes are even higher when the marque in question is one as hallowed as Bugatti. - 1976 Ferrari 308 GTB
With the arrival of the Dino 308 GT4, the 246 retired leaving a gap in the range. Indeed, following this departure, the Italian manufacturer no longer offered two-seater coupes with "small" engines. And it is not the 308 GT4 with four seats, designed by Bertone that was going to fill this gap. In short, Ferrari needed a solution, a small berlinette designed by Pininfarina, and quickly! The answer to this problem was brought in 1975 by the Ferrari 308 GTB which at the same time abandoned the Dino emblem to become a full-fledged Ferrari. Two cars were presented during the 1975 Paris Motor Show (a yellow one (Giallo Fly) at Pozzi and a blue one (Azzurro metalizzato) at Pininfarina), as Lauda had just won the Formula 1 title, and the berlinette with features inspired by the 365 GT4 BB was a great success. It must be said that the (shortened) base of the 308 GT4 was technically good, and that the 308 GTB brought to it all that was expected from a Ferrari. Namely a powerful and sexy style! It had a similar mechanical layout to the Bertone-signed 308 GT4, but was equipped with only two seats. The bodywork, beautifully designed by Pininfarina, took some visual cues from the fantastic Dino 246 GT. The rapid arrival of the first 308 GTB was also made possible by the use of polyester for the bodywork (except for the aluminum hood). At the time, this material, in addition to being mastered and light, allowed a faster production. For a brand in a hurry to present a new product, it was ideal. And what a line! Lurking on the ground with its small 1.10m high, it has a cut as sultry as typical of its time. The front end is short, ready to devour the ground, with pop-up headlights and air vents, it doesn't get much more seventies! The profile is well balanced and very dynamic. It is helped by the homogeneity of the overhangs, the inclination of the front part, the obliquely truncated rear, the two big air intakes, or the black border underlining the body line in the shape of waves while breaking the volumes. However, only the first 808 examples called Ferrari 308 GTB "Vetroresina" were equipped with this polyester shell manufactured by Scaglietti. In June 1977, with the arrival of the GTS (Scoperta) convertible version, the 308s switched to a steel body, 150 kilos heavier. The V8 engine has nothing minor except its modest displacement of 2.9 liters. On the contrary, the "Tipo F106" is probably one of the major engines of the brand. Depending on its evolution, you will find it under the hood of all the normal V8 cars of the manufacturer (up to the 360 Modena), but also of the 288 GTO, the F40 etc. In short, this 90° V8 with flat crankshaft is a heavyweight! 16 valves, double overhead camshafts, dry sump, four Weber 40 DCNF carburetors, it's a racing gear! And of course, the output is excellent for the time with 87 hp/L, that is to say a total of 255 hp obtained at 7700 rpm. That said, these figures could lead one to fear a cruel lack of flexibility at low revs, but this is not the case thanks to the 284 Nm developed at 5000 rpm. Right from the start, the 308 GTB (B for Berlinetta) is a sensation. It is totally integrated in the Ferrari stylistic unit of the time while appearing even more balanced than the BB. Thanks to its polyester bodywork, it remained light (1090 kg) while offering high-level performance: 247 km/h, 1,000 m from a standing start in 25.4 seconds, and 0 to 100 km/h in just 7 seconds. The Porsche 911 is kept at distance. A fiberglass car can be differentiated thanks to a few details: it has a small attachment at the top of the windshield pillar, where it touches the roof. Other differences for the European version: the space for the rear license plate is plain, while the steel cars have a hollow there. The reverse lights are located in the bumper, while on the steel cars, they are located in the center of the turn signals. Given that the 308 GTB was never officially intended by the Ferrari factory to become a race car, it did end up with a quite significant competition career. Not so much on race tracks, but more impressively on rally stages. Apart from the famous Michelotto built Group 4 and Group B cars, a lot of privateers have modified 308s to use them in competition with the success we know! Our car is one of the first 308 Vetroresina: the most sought after. Produced in April 1976, #19189 left Maranello in an elegant "Blu Scuro" livery and a "Pelle beige" interior, equipped with optional air conditioning, spoiler and electric windows. It started its life in Italy, initially delivered in Bari to Mr. Andrea Andone with the registration number "TE20600". The car stayed in Italy with 3 known owners until 2014 when it was sold and exported to Germany. The new owner then began a complete 3 year restoration to bring the car back to its former glory. The result is still visible today: it looks like it just came out of the factory! No expense was spared and the heavy file of photos and invoices shows incredible attention to detail. The result of this work culminated in the issuance of the "Classiche Certificate" by Ferrari. In 2019, our 308 joined the private collection of a car enthusiast alongside other Italian gems. Offered with an impressive folder of photos and invoices, its Ferrari Classiche Red Book, and retaining its tools, accessories and delivery manuals, this is a very rare opportunity to purchase what is probably one of the most iconic Ferraris of the late 1970s! 1976 Ferrari 308 GTB Historic Cars If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The third generation of the Porsche 911 still relied on the proven concept of an air-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine in the rear, but offered plenty of technical innovations. The 2+2-seater sports car came onto the market for the 1989 model year and was built until 1993. Only 1,437 of the highly sought-after Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 were ever produced during this period. The Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 offered here was delivered via the Porsche Center “Hahn Sportwagen” in Fellbach, Germany. The largely untouched original vehicle with its low mileage of 54,245 km is in absolute collector’s condition. A traceable maintenance and ownership history as well as the original on-board folder are also available. We are offering you a good opportunity to acquire one of the highly sought-after and rare 3,6 ltr. Turbo models in an attractive color scheme. - 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa
Very Well Upgraded Targa In Guards Red Over Black With Sport Seats, SSI Heat Exchangers, Dansk Muffler, Steve Wong Chip and Full Elephant Racing Suspension. Seller Asking: $75,000 Produced between 1974 and 1989, the G-Body 911 is one of the most recognizable variants of the famed Porsche sports car and, without a doubt, one of the best to drive. Built between 1974 and 1989, the G-Body 911s came in numerous variants, with the most refined version, the Carrera, built between 1984 and 1989. Powered by a 3.2-liter Flat-6, the Carrera is regarded for its unfiltered driving experience, exceptional durability, and practicality. One of the many things that separate the Porsche 911 from many of its more exotic rivals from the same time period is the massive aftermarket for performance parts that are available to tailor your 911 to exactly how you like it from behind the wheel. This 1984 Porsche 911 Targa is finished in Guards Red over Black and has been well maintained and carefully modified to ensure maximum driving enjoyment every time you get behind the wheel. The car presents well but is in what would be considered “driver” condition- a repaint from the early 2000s is still very shiny but does show some bubbling and minor areas of lifting, along with some visible tape lines. That being said, the Targa top has recently been rebuilt, European front and rear lights have been installed, and the car sits on a set of 7” front and 8” rear Fuchs, giving an overall very put-together appearance. If you are looking for a 911 Targa to get out and drive and aren’t concerned about your local PCA Concours, this car is for you. On the inside, the seats, dash, and door cards are covered in black leather, and a set of non-original but period-correct Porsche sport seats have been installed. The original Blaupunkt stereo with a cassette player is still in place, and although air conditioning is installed, it is currently not operable. The leather on the dashboard is shrinking some, and the seams along the front edge are separating. A few of the performance upgrades noticeable on the interior are a set of Targa reinforcement bars that help add rigidity to the chassis and an aftermarket short shifter that offers improved shift action to the 915 gearbox. What makes this car a real standout is what is going on underneath the car. The 3.2-liter flat-6 benefits from a top-end rebuild, and the 915 gearbox has been rebuilt with a fresh clutch installed all around 2008. SSI heat exchangers and a Dansk muffler were installed to make the engine breathe better, and a Steve Wong chip for Carreras with these modifications is installed to maximize performance potential. The suspension was recently rebuilt using street-oriented bushings from Elephant Racing, and 930 tie rods and a strut tower brace have also been installed. When you get behind the wheel of this 911 Targa, everything feels right- the extensive file of receipts dating back to 1986 tells the story of the three owners who loved this car and were happy to spend whatever it took to make it drive as well as it could. All of the care lavished on this car throughout its life makes for a truly exceptional driving experience that would be expensive and time-consuming to replicate. If you want to experience what makes the Porsche 911 so desirable amongst driving enthusiasts worldwide, all it will take is a few minutes behind the wheel of this example to get it. 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa ISSIMI, Inc If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1964 Jaguar Mk2
Racing driver John Coombs' name will forever be linked with that of Jaguar, his MkI and Mk2 saloons being at the forefront of British saloon car racing throughout the late 1950s/early 1960s. He gave up competitive driving to concentrate on running his Guildford-based Jaguar dealership, making the benefit of his experience available to customers, and over the next seven years they modified between 30 and 40 Mk2s. Essentially, the Coombs conversion consisted of an uprated engine matched by steering and suspension modifications, but the company offered a plethora of options from which customers could choose. They included an additional fuel tank, a wood-rim steering wheel and a chrome plated boot rack. Coombs would also modify the rear wheel arches, removing the spats and making up rolled edges to match the profile of the front wheel arches. The primary objective of this was to improve access for wheel changing during motorsport events, but the modification improved the appearance of the car so much that it is surprising Jaguar themselves did not adopt the modification for production cars. Not all the Coombs cars had the same state of tune, but the typical engine had 9:1 compression pistons, a lightened flywheel and a different carburettor air-intake system. The whole bottom-end assembly would be balanced and the cylinder head would be gas-flowed. A number of Coombs-style cars feature a louvred bonnet but this was not an advertised option in the early days. The classic 3.8-litre Mk2 offered here has been restored and rebuilt in the style of those 1960s John Coombs cars. A Jaguar/Daimler Dating Letter on file reveals that chassis #233517 was originally finished in Jaguar Dark Blue with light blue trim (the same as it is today) and was retailed through Henlys, being first registered as HPA 700C, the registration it wears today. The car's history is not known prior to 1992 when it was acquired by a Mr Vann and it was he that commissioned its restoration. The no expense spared rebuild was commenced by marque specialists, Three Point Four, and completed in November 1997 by Scott-Moncrieff. Its specification includes a rebuilt, balanced and tuned engine, 2" SU carburettors on matching manifolds, front anti-roll bar, Koni shock absorbers, uprated coil springs at the front, 'Coombs'-type rear wheel arches, 'Coombs'-type chromed wire wheels a Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel, Pioneer stereo system and discreet period style circular mirrors to the window frames. It's believed that the car was subsequently re-trimmed by renowned experts Suffolk & Turley. The Jaguar remained with Mr Vann for the next 20-or-so years before being sold to the owner prior to our vendor who appears to have fastidiously maintained it by the number of Red Triangle bills on file. Included in the fascinating history file are many bills from Scott-Moncrieff for the rebuild and also a photographic record of the restoration, old MOT Certificates, a copy of a sales invoice dated 22nd April 2016 from Runnymede Motor Company and more recent Invoices from Red Triangle for various works on the car during 2016/2017. Most recently this car last sold in July 2020 at auction for £51,750 but appears to have never been driven by its new owner (a US-resident) and committed to secure storage. The Jaguar has recently emerged from those four years of storage so an element of recommissioning is to be expected. - 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 1
This Jaguar E-Type, originally delivered to the United States as a 3.8-litre Roadster and first registered in 1963, has a fascinating history. In its early years, the car was converted to a 4.2-litre engine, but few details are known from that period. In 1983, the vehicle came from Colorado to Switzerland, where it found its first owner in Zermatt. After a decade, the car changed hands and was sold to an enthusiast in the canton of Geneva. He had extensive restoration work carried out, including a repaint and refurbishment of the interior, replacement of the exhaust system, and an overhaul of the clutch and the cylinder head, with the valves being readjusted as well. Towards the end of 2000, the Jaguar changed hands again and was acquired by the family that still owns it today. Dissatisfied with the previous owner's work, the new owner had body work carried out again, particularly on the underbody. He equipped the car with the current red interior and a new soft top fitted. Both the mechanics – including engine and gearbox – and the electrics, were thoroughly overhauled. The comprehensive maintenance and restoration history of the last 25 years is documented with invoices of almost CHF 100’000. Typically for Jaguar models of the period, the doors do not close very well and occasionally the starter gets stuck. These issues should be addressed by the future owner. The last Veteran MOT was completed in June 2020. 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. In its early years, the car was converted to a 4.2-litre engine, but few details are known from that period. As Michele Alboreto stepped away from Formula 1 at the end of the 1994 season, the Milanese driver ended a 14-year career in the topflight, which included five seasons racing for Ferrari. In 1985, Alboreto had pushed for Ferrari’s first Drivers’ title since 1979, yet eventually settled for 2nd place in his stand-out season for the Scuderia. In life after F1 he raced for Schübel Engineering in the DTM and International Touring Car Championship, further to entries in IndyCar and the World Sportscar Championship—some of which from behind the wheel of a Ferrari, upholding his connection with the Maranello marque. On 8 August 1995, Alboreto took delivery of the Ferrari F355 Berlinetta offered here, which was supplied by Parisian dealer Charles Pozzi SA while the driver was living in Monaco. The sleek coupé was built in Nero Carbonio over a Beige leather interior—the colour combination it still shows today—while the Ferrari also retains its matching-numbers Tipo F129 engine. Accompanied by its Ferrari books and manuals, showing main dealer servicing on selected years, the F355 was most recently serviced by Scuderia Baldini in August 2024, and one month later the workshop fitted four Bridgestone Potenza tyres. Having been awarded Ferrari Classiche certification in December 2024, the car is offered with its “Red Book”. Offered with the provenance of a famous Ferrari F1 driver as its first owner, Scuderia fans should not miss the opportunity to bid on this Classiche-certified F355 Berlinetta. 1995 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
