- 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S
This 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is finished in Grand Prix White and shows 43,740 miles at the time of cataloging. What separates this Carrera 4S from some of the other examples out there is a significant list of subtle modifications that enhance the appearance and driving enjoyment, but aren’t so over the top to be polarizing. As you approach the car, you first notice the gray Porsche script down the lower rockers, along with a set of Tramont Cup 2 wheels with gray centers. These are high-quality reproductions of the Speedline Cup wheels that you would have found on the 993 RS and 993 GT, but they are more affordable and known to be quite well-built. Behind those sit a set of yellow brake calipers that really pop against the dark gray wheel centers. The front bumper has received a few modifications as well- removing the US-spec bumperettes and adding 993 Turbo S ducts, which are paired with LED daytime running lights next to the side markers. In the rear of the car, the bumperettes have been painted body color, and the standard electronically raising rear wing is installed. That being said, an Aero-Kit fixed rear wing has been freshly painted and is also included with the sale so you can choose your preferred 993 silhouette. To keep the car looking nice, paint protection film has been applied to the entire front of the car as well as the mirrors. These modifications won’t jump out at anyone besides the most die-hard Porsche fan, but to those who know, they are fantastic upgrades. The interior is outfitted with black leather seats, with power adjustment and additional black leather bits from Custom Classic 9 on the dashboard and door cards. A 3-spoke sport steering wheel from a 996 generation car has been fitted in place of the unattractive stock 4-spoke wheel, and a custom carbon fiber on the center console, door pulls, and sills from Markus Bruhler have been installed. A modern Continental head unit has been installed, which offers Bluetooth and streaming audio from your phone, and new speakers have been fitted to the doors and rear deck. Rennline aluminum pedals have been fitted in the footwells, and a new set of high-quality Lloyds mats with Carrera 4S embroidery have been added. Powering the 993 Carrera is a 3.6-liter M64 Flat-6 engine that produces 272 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque and loves to pull hard all the way to the 7,000 rpm redline. 1996 was the first year of the VarioRam system on the 993, which features variable length intake runners and is designed to optimize both low-down torque and high RPM power. The implementation of this system resulted in an increase of 14 horsepower and 10 lb-ft of torque. This car comes with a full-service history back to new, and recent work includes the replacement of the spark plugs, chain cover gasket reseal, new fuel pump, new lower gasket covers, and a new starter. A Fister 2 exhaust system gives the car some more noise but looks stock in the car and comes with 2 styles of OEM exhaust tips that you can choose between. The 6-speed manual gearbox received a new clutch around 35,000 miles, and an FDM short-shift kit with their “Goldenrod” shift rod has also been fitted for an exceptional shifter feel. The exceptional stance on this car can be credited to a set of Bilstein PSS10 coil-overs that have been fitted at all four corners and offer tremendous adjustability, and new drop links have also been installed. Modified cars can sometimes be hit-or-miss when buying secondhand, but this 993 Carrera 4S is undoubtedly a winner. This is backed up by both the full-service history but also every modification carried out is either paying respects to another 993 models or from a well-known Porsche aftermarket company, ensuring that everything is done to the highest quality. If you love the 993 C4S but want a car that stands out a bit from the crowd, this is the ultimate car for you. 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S ISSIMI, Inc If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1966 Porsche 911 R
This beautiful and uncompromising Porsche 911 R has been perfectly rebuilt to R specifications on an original 1966 911 S chassis without any ifs or buts. The engine has been recently rebuilt to the highest standard by very well known Swiss Porsche specialists. Likewise, the transmission was completely revised / rebuilt. The car offers a sensational power-to-weight ratio with a curb weight of only 800 kgs and a measured 238 hp. The 911 R offered here was delivered by AMAG, Xavier Perrot, has FiA papers, a FIVA Identity Card and is veteran-approved. The period correct seats (see photo) are of course included with the car. The 1967 Porsche 911 R was the lightest 911 of all time and laid the foundation for its sporting success. The Porsche 911 made its racing debut shortly after the start of production in 1965 at the Monte Carlo Rally. With an even faster sports version of the 160 hp Porsche 911 S, a class victory was achieved at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 and the European Rally Championship was won. Thus, the development of new, even more powerful racing versions was a high priority. The focus was on reducing the weight of the 911 S. The hood, doors and fenders were replaced by fiberglass, the windows by Plexiglas. The underbody and many other metal parts were simply pierced with holes. The cockpit was also reduced to the bare minimum and the sound insulation removed. The diet had truly paid off: Instead of the approximately 1,030 kg of a standard Porsche 911 S, the lightweight 911 weighed in at only 800 kg! To this day, the Porsche 911 R is considered the lightest 911 of all time. For faster cornering speeds, the lightweight 911 was fitted with thicker tires and a wider rear end. The engine chosen was the 210 hp Type 901/22 aluminum six-cylinder, which was also used in a similar form in the Porsche 906 and 910 race cars. Experiments were also conducted with the 230-hp, even higher-revving Type 916 racing engine. One of the first racing drivers to try out the new Porsche 911 R was Huschke von Hanstein. The Mille Miglia and Targa Florio winner was thrilled and pushed for homologation for GT racing. But the sales department in Zuffenhausen was less optimistic: they didn’t have the confidence to sell the 500 units needed for homologation. So production of the series model at the Stuttgart company Baur was discontinued after only 19 examples. Just how great the potential of a purist racing 911 really was was demonstrated in October 1967. Jo Siffert and his Swiss teammates had traveled to Monza together to break the high-speed world records set by Ford and Toyota. But their Porsche 906 was not suited to the bumpy Italian track; shortly after the start, the suspension went. A Porsche 911 R from the Baur small series was used as a replacement car. In fact, the Swiss set five new endurance world records with the racing 911 – including the distance of 20,000 kilometers. However, this was not quite the end of the Porsche 911 R’s history: When the Tour de France Automobile was opened up to prototypes in 1969, Gérard Larrousse started with the lightweight 911-and won. He also triumphed in the Tour de Corse shortly afterwards with the same car. 1966 Porsche 911 R Lutziger Classic Cars AG If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1963 Ferrari 250 GTE
Ferrari had been doing well through the 1950s with the 250 series of road and racing cars. The company’s most successful early line, the 250 series included many variants and are characterized by their use of the Lampredi or Colombo designed 3 liter V12 engine. When the Ferrari 250 GT 2+2 was introduced it was the only Ferrari designed to carry more than two passengers (there were some early Ferrari 212s built by Ghia in the 1950s that could carry more than two passengers but these models are rare). This filled a long standing gap in the Ferrari production and the 2+2 proved an extremely populair model, being capable of both high-performance driving and luxurious touring. The classic V12 engine layout was used with a single overhead camshaft per bank of cylinders acting through roller rockers to operate the overhead valves. Engine displacement was 2953cc and with a compression ratio of 8:8:1 the engine gave 240 bhp at 7000 rpm. The GTE is fitted with an electric overdrive as a 5th gear and for comfortable high speed cruising. This specific Ferrari 250 GTE was delivered new in France to Mr. Pierre Louis-Dreyfus, a famous racing driver from Paris. We are currently further researching the early history. Reputedly from a famous French Couturier afterwards. This car has been in Holland since 1996 and has been in two major Ferrari collections since. The car has been repainted in the past and refreshed, but the interior is still with the original black leather and irreplaceable. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright Ferrari had been doing well through the 1950s with the 250 series of road and racing cars. Now freshly finished from a 2 year and 160.000 Euro expenditure at a Dutch specialist including a full engine rebuilt. Fully serviced after 1000 km running in, the car is ready for a new caretaker. - 1954-fiat-8v-berlinetta-series-ii
The Fiat 8V retains a legacy as one of the Italian marque’s most legendary cars ever made. Its short production run, spanning from 1952 to 1954, resulted in 114 examples of the 8V—or Ottovù in Italian—being made. Intriguingly, some cars were designed and made almost completely in-house by Fiat’s Dipartimento Carrozzerie Derivate e Speciali, or Special Bodies Department. In total, 63 were penned by Fiat’s chief designer, Fabio ‘Luigi’ Rapi; 34 first-series cars and 29 second-series cars. The example offered here enjoys a rich history as an 8V that was retained by Fiat upon completion. The car’s first listed owner was the marque’s Dipartimento Esperienze (roughly translated as “experiential department”) based at the famous Lingotto headquarters in Turin. Accordingly, the Fiat was first registered for the road on 28 June 1954 with the Turin-based registration “TO 165730”. The 8V’s original colour was Verde Metalizzata over a Beige interior, and it is believed that the car was kept by Fiat as a test vehicle for three years. On 12 March 1957, the 8V was sold to its first private owner, Sig. Giuseppe Vercellina and re-registered with the Italian targa “VC 84479”. Importantly, almost 70 years later and still in Italian ownership, the Fiat retains its period registration to this day. After Sig. Vercellina passed away in 1971, the Fiat was inherited by his three children, who duly sold the car to Sig.ra Lora Lamia Sergio. It is thought that the car was repainted in its current grey hue around this time. The 8V was next acquired by Sig.ra Rosangela Gibello (married to Piedmontese racing driver Claudio Maglioli, who was the brother of the Targa Florio-winning Umberto), who kept the car until 1988. The car was next purchased by Sig. Angelo Brino Bet, based near Treviso, before a brief sojourn to Belgian ownership. Later, the Fiat returned to Italian enthusiasts, from whom the car is now offered for sale. In the care of the consigning owner, the 8V was campaigned in the 2014 and 2015 editions of the Mille Miglia Storica and would make an ideal entry to future events. Presented with its matching-numbers engine, an impressive history file showing known Italian ownership from new, and retaining many original details inside and out, this charming Fiat 8V makes for an extremely appealing proposition for enthusiasts of the Fiat marque, Italian cars in general, and especially those collectors of rare berlinettas. 1954 Fiat 8V Berlinetta Series II RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1964 Ferrari 250 GT L Berlinetta Lusso
THE BERLINETTA LUSSO The Ferrari 250 GT/L berlinetta Lusso is undoubtedly one of the most appealing grand touring models ever built, combining the 250 GT’s developmental apogee with one of Scaglietti’s most acclaimed coachwork creations. Introduced at the 1962 Paris Salon as a replacement for the discontinued 250 GT PF Coupe, the Lusso (Italian for “luxury”) featured an all-new interior arrangement highlighted by a revised dash panel and leather upholstery throughout the cabin. Mechanically, the Tipo 168 U engine was the ultimate 3-liter development of the long-running short-block “Colombo” V-12, featuring the outside-plug ignition and single-cylinder porting that had proven so successful in the 250 Testa Rossa and California Spider racing variants. This superb platform was further bolstered by chassis improvements including four-wheel disc brakes, a suspension with coil-over shock absorbers at each corner, and a rear Watts linkage that had been perfected on the legendary 250 GTO. Originally owned by jet-set luminaries and celebrities such as Steve McQueen, the Lusso was built in a modest quantity of just 350 examples over roughly two years of production. The 250 GT/L has since evolved into one of Maranello’s most collectible production models, essentially the final and most developed evolution of the celebrated 250 GT lineage. FROM GT TO LMB Converted to racing specifications, and now emerging from 20 years of storage, this unique Ferrari is an intriguing prospect. According to the research of marque expert Marcel Massini, chassis number 5521 GT is the 269th example built, and it completed assembly during April 1964 with a finish in Amaranto paint over a Beige leather interior. Specified in left-hand drive, the 250 GT was delivered to the UK marque distributor Maranello Concessionaires and sold new to a Mr. Moll, an English resident living in Sicily. Over the next two years, the Lusso was serviced five times at the Ferrari Factory Assistenza Clienti in Modena before being sold to an enthusiast based in Geneva, Switzerland. After receiving attention twice more at the Assistenza Clienti, the berlinetta was sold into British ownership in 1967, eventually passing to racing enthusiast Mike McQuaker of London by 1973. By this time the coachwork had been refinished in light green, and shortly thereafter the car was painted yet again in dark green. In 1976 Mr. McQuaker began racing the Ferrari, for which the car was treated to an impressive series of modifications. Most significantly, the matching-numbers engine was fitted with six carburetors, while the motor’s lubrication system was upgraded to a dry-sump configuration. The chassis was mounted with new alloy coachwork with GTO-style rear brake vents and a front end in the style of the Ferrari 330 LMB, care of the well-known racecar coachbuilding firm Williams & Pritchard. (The 330 LMB, or “Le Mans Berlinetta,” was a further development of the 250 GTO that was partially based on the Lusso chassis, although it saw only very limited competition use before Ferrari entirely transitioned to mid-engine racing designs. Just four 330 LMB examples were built by the factory, with one achieving a 5th overall and 1st in class finish at the 1963 24 Hours of Le Mans.) Over the next 14 years, McQuaker continued to refine the racing Lusso with further work performed by noted specialists like Bob Houghton, Ray Mallock, and DK Engineering, among others. These measures included fitting the engine with larger GTO-style valves, high-compression pistons, Carrillo connecting rods, and a cold air box with velocity stacks. In combination with a new quad exhaust system flowing through side pipes, the modifications contributed to an increased power output of 290 horsepower. Further modifications included the installation of an aluminum radiator with an auxiliary cooling fan, upgraded brakes with competition-style alloy calipers and vented rotors, a dual-circuit master cylinder, front and rear adjustable sway bars, adjustable Koni shock absorbers, and a trunk-mounted fuel cell. The clutch was rebuilt into a dual-plate racing clutch, and the interior was fitted with Recaro racing seats and a roll cage. This work was reportedly conducted in a manner that could be relatively easily reversed, allowing for a potential return to factory/original specifications for the future caretaker that might so desire. The competition modifications proved to be quite effective, as the LMB-style Lusso went on to be very competitive in racing events, reportedly winning the British Maranello Ferrari Challenge Series in 1986 and 1987. After passing through at least two additional ownerships based in the UK, including Peter Waterman’s important collection of racing Ferraris, the 250 GT was sold to a Florida-based enthusiast in 1999, and in August 2002 it was offered at RM Auctions’ flagship sale in Monterey, California. In March 2003 the Lusso was campaigned at the historic challenge event at Sears Point Raceway, and by the end of the year the car was owned by Richard Freshman’s Fossil Motorsports, respected specialists in racing conversions and event preparation. After being sold later in 2003 to Walter Medlin, the Ferrari was treated to a refinish in the current livery of rosso paint, and it has since been preserved through 20 years of nearly undisturbed storage. On a few occasions the 250 GT has been publicly displayed, including an appearance at the 2003 Winter Park Concours d’Elegance, and another at the Celebration of Automobiles held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May 2014. Although the 250 GT will doubtlessly have to undergo a thorough restoration to attain optimal driving condition, the effort should prove worthwhile for the future caretaker with the proper vision. For the vintage competition enthusiast seeking to experience a glimpse of GTO-style racing, this unusual Lusso could potentially offer elements of the legendary racecar’s performance characteristics at a fraction of the investment. Or, for the enthusiast intent on stewarding a forgotten Lusso back to its original factory configuration, this car offers an enchanting opportunity, as it desirably maintains the matching-numbers engine. In any event, with the potential for either display or racing applications, this long-dormant 250 GT, available now from the Lost & Found Collection, would make a rewarding project for any dedicated Maranello enthusiast, sure to bring considerable pleasure to its next caretaker following a careful refurbishment. 1964 Ferrari 250 GT L Berlinetta Lusso RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright THE BERLINETTA LUSSO The Ferrari 250 GT/L berlinetta Lusso is undoubtedly one of the most appealing grand touring models ever built, combining the 250 GT’s developmental apogee with one of Scaglietti’s most acclaimed coachwork creations. - 1971 Maserati Ghibli SS 4.9 Spyder by Ghia
Introduced at the 1966 Turin Motor Show, the Maserati Ghibli took the automotive world by storm, powered by a potent new 4.7-liter dry-sump V-8 engine capable of developing 310 horsepower. Showgoers were awestruck by the groundbreaking coachwork by Ghia’s Giorgetto Giugiaro, who penned a low and wide aerodynamic coupe featuring pop-up headlamps, a raked windshield, and a sweeping fastback rear end. The Ghibli soon became the preferred choice of jet-set celebrities around the globe, finding favor with A-list buyers as diverse as comedic actor Peter Sellers, French New Wave cinema star Jean-Paul Belmondo, entertainer Sammy Davis, Jr, and professional basketball player Wilt Chamberlain. As with any great sports car coupe, customer demand eventually skyrocketed for an open-top version, and Maserati answered the call with a spyder that debuted on Ghia’s stand at the 1968 Turin Motor Show. With the roof removed, the coachwork design took on a totally different character, emphasizing the flowing beltlines and luxurious dimensions. The prototype proved to be the first of only 128 examples built, ensuring a degree of rarity that has only solidified the model’s cachet in the eyes of collectors today. Spyder production eventually phased almost exclusively to the uprated 4.9 SS engine that appeared in 1969. With an increased displacement of 4,930 cubic centimeters, and aspirated by larger Weber 42 DCNF/11 carburetors, the engine now developed 335 horsepower and 355 pound-feet of torque, delivering a commensurate uptick in performance. By the end of Ghibli production 45 examples of the 4.9-liter spyder had been built, of which just 30 were reportedly distributed to the US. Of those, just 24 cars were equipped with a manual gearbox, putting the featured lot in very exclusive company. According to Maserati records, chassis number 1239 was completed in February 1971, equipped with a 4.9-liter SS engine and a manual gearbox, finished in Rosso Fuoco (fire red) paint, and trimmed with an interior of Nero leather. The spyder was distributed new to a dealer in West Nyack, New York, and presumably remained in American ownership for the ensuing 40 years. By March 2012 the Maserati was owned by a collector in New York, and four years later it was acquired by the consignor. Faithfully finished in its factory-correct color combination of Rosso Fuoco over Nero, this Ghibli SS Spyder continues to present wonderfully, benefitting from a restoration that was obviously conducted at some point in the not-too-distant past. It is important to note that this Ghibli desirably retains its matching-numbers 4.9-liter SS engine, the hallmark of any truly collectible Maserati. It is also favorably equipped with a Blaupunkt radio, wire wheels, and air conditioning. Appropriate for enjoyment now, or a great candidate for a full restoration, this rare and beautiful Maserati spyder would make an outstanding complement to sporting collections worldwide, sure to tug at the heartstrings of any enthusiast of significant Italian sports cars. 1971 Maserati Ghibli SS 4.9 Spyder by Ghia RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1956-ferrari-250gt-low-roof-boano
History of the Ferrari Boano The 1950s would prove to be a critical decade for the survival of Ferrari. Leading virtually every European competition in their class, besting top competitors at premier racing venues, and garnering world press, Ferrari was at the top of their game. But behind closed doors, the company was struggling to earn the resources they needed to compete against more highly funded establishments who were profiting from sales of production cars. It became critical for Ferrari to fund a series of volume production road cars to appeal to wealthy clientele. Road cars were not only fiscally important, they were important brand ambassadors for the rapidly growing North American market. To meet the high-end market, Ferrari’s cars had to be elegant, understated, and luxurious. Ultimately the first of these volume production road cars, the Europa, would yield only a modest number of examples, but it was an important start. It would take four years before the first refined Ferrari 250 GT road cars would arrive and eventually replace the earlier 250 Europa. By 1954 with the Paris Salon model launch, the 250 GT would come to define the quintessential Ferrari featuring a powerful front mounted Colombo 3-litre V12, elegant body design, and competition inspired interiors. As demand grew, however, Pininfarina output had stalled while building a larger production facility. Unable to supply the volume needed to meet Ferrari demands, Enzo Ferrari moved the project to Boano, who agreed to take on the line after only a few Pininfarina prototypes had been built. Mario Boano, formerly a Ghia designer, had opened his facility with the assistance of his son-in-law Ezio Ellena with production beginning in 1956 at the dedicated facility. Though pressed for time, Boano diligently followed the signature Pininfarina design, but cleverly lowered the beltline and reduced the rear fender haunch, lowering the roof line. The “low roof” designation would distinguish these cars but also become a key feature highly influencing the later Super America Ferraris. Under Boano's leadership and construction, approximately 80 cars were built. before Ellena became the primary builder for this series concluding with car #0675GT. History of this Ferrari Boano This beautifully restored Boano is accompanied by a binder of copious factory documentation, letters, and reference information supporting the matching numbers engine and history since it was completed on December 7t, 1956. According to Ferrari factory documentation and a 2019 Massini report, #0581 was completed at the factory and delivered to the first owner Guido Settepassi, a silversmith and resident of Florence, Italy. Remaining in Italy for the first year of ownership and returning to the factory for service, the car was sold to the second owner in 1958, Giorgio Billi, ATS Automobili principal. Under Billi’s ownership Ferrari overhauled the engine, clutch, shock absorbers, and brakes, and updated the gearbox with a new unit installed at Ferrari on March 7, 1959, and recorded with internal number 140. Still under Billi’s ownership, the car remained in Florence until it was subsequently imported to the US in the late 1960s. Supported by letters from Ferrari addressed to the Oregon based owner as early as 1968, by the 1970s Edward Lond, Seattle, WA had become the owner as documentation in the binder includes correspondence with Phil Hill, who returned a letter of inquiry replying with the address for Juan M. Fangio to confirm his possible ownership of this car. The car remained primarily on the West Coast, when, in 1984, it was purchased by Robert Passmore, also a resident of Washington state. Passmore kept the car in dry storage for the next three decades until it was delivered to Butch Dennison’s shop in 2018 where it was mechanically recommissioned. The current owner purchased this car shortly after the mechanical recommissioning was completed at Dennison’s shop in 2019. With passion, resources, and access to some of the best Ferrari restoration experts in the world, the current owner embarked on a comprehensive cost no object five-year ground-up restoration addressing every component, feature, mechanical detail, and cosmetic aspect of this Ferrari. Experts at AVC Sport Racing fully disassembled the car, and the body was stripped to bare metal addressing all aspects including fit and finish from top to bottom, selecting a stunning cream exterior finish and red leather interior to complete the car. Over 600 hours were spent reconditioning, restoring, and locating authentic components for the restoration which was comprehensively documented including over 500 photos and nearly 100 pages of invoices, parts purchase records, and detailed notes covering the history and restoration services performed on this beautifully presented Boano. In addition to the restoration documentation, a binder containing reference information on the history includes highlights such as the 2019 Massini report, letters from former owners to the Ferrari factory, period photos of the car from 1973 when finished in silver over black, Ferrari factory build/origin paperwork, English translations of Ferrari service work performed on the car, handwritten notes documenting the history of ownership including phone numbers and locations, and the original signed correspondence letter returned from Phil Hill. Current Condition and Presentation Today, this matching numbers Ferrari 250GT Boano presents as a superb example of the rare and distinctive “low roof” Boano design, combining exceptional documentation and premier restoration artistry. The paintwork was done to very high standards with excellent gloss and depth, a challenge in any color, but beautifully rendered in this elegant vintage cream color. The body is beautifully formed and displays excellent panel fit with crisp closures to the hood, trunk, and doors. The chrome bumpers, Marchal headlamps, Carello headlight trim, and exterior lighting are in excellent condition, including correct Securit brand etching on the glass, correct fog lamps nestled in the grille opening, delicately shaped door handles, and “250 Granturismo” script lettering for the trunk lid. The body design is pure and clean, void of any fussy trim that dominates other brands of the same era. The body contours are gracefully softened in the Boano design, while the distinctive low roof line creates a powerful stance. A set of perfectly finished 16” Borrani wire wheels and dual ear “Carlo Borrani Milano SPA” knockoffs are the perfect performance accent, shod with 185 VR 16 Pirelli Cinturato tires positioned against the large cast aluminum brake drums, giving the wheel design a perfect profile signature. The interior is beautifully finished and handsomely trimmed, displaying high quality workmanship and a consistently fresh appearance throughout. The red leather, red carpeting, and door panels have been expertly crafted accented against the darker red dash and upper door trim. The seats are authentically constructed with correct foam, perimeter piping, and accurate pleat lines. The dashboard is laid out with beautifully finished Veglia instrumentation and supporting gauges nestled inside the wide instrument panel. The instruments feature high contrast dial faces, crisp lettering, and correct needles. The interior finishes are heightened by a rich wood rimmed flat spoked Nardi steering wheel with a yellow Ferrari center emblem. The interior effect is both elegant and performance oriented, capturing driver and passenger with distinct visual accents and vintage appeal. Finishing off the interior, the rich red carpets and light toned headliner give an open-air feeling to the space, further enhanced by the wraparound rear glass, gently curved windshield, and uninterrupted large side glass. Most importantly, the interior seating room is spacious even for taller drivers, a desirable feature in the 250 GT series. The trunk has been restored using high quality materials, lined with matching red carpeting and binding. A full-sized spare tire with Borrani wire wheel is stowed on the passenger side and a large tool set is rolled with leather straps containing an impressive array of tools. Under the hood, the original matching number V12 engine has been faithfully restored to a very high standard. Both the engine and engine compartment are beautifully detailed, accurately refinished, and correct in presentation. The engine finishes and textures are factory correct including the crackled black Ferrari cam cover castings and associated mechanical components. Numerous correct details include original specification hardware, proper fasteners, correct triple downdraft Weber carburetors, tufted black hood insulation padding, and distinctive yellow fuel lines. The underside of the car reflects a high level of attention to detail, consistent with efforts performed in the engine compartment. Finishes on the brakes, engine castings, and hardware are very accurate with very little evidence of use. There are no areas of structural compromise evident in the floor pan or suspension mounting points. Entering the car, the seating position is comfortable and spacious. The thin A-pillars and expansive glass offer clear views of the front and rear of the car, while the rear glass wraps around, inviting daylight into the interior adding to the open cockpit feel. The car starts easily and warms up with a smooth idle and crisp throttle response. Once at speed, the engine pulls strong, making very good power over a wide RPM range. Acceleration is brisk, understandably so as this is the same engine that powered so many of Ferrari's top competition cars of this era. The four-speed gearbox shifts smoothly, with excellent synchros, both warm and cold. The four-wheel drum brakes are effective, pulling the car down progressively even from higher speeds. Delightfully balanced and remarkably nimble, this low-roof Boano can be driven on Ferrari club gatherings, vintage tours, and participate in numerous world class concours events. In addition to the copious notes contained in the reference binder accompanying this car, this Boano is accompanied by a set of tools and tool roll, a full sized spare tire with Borrani wire wheel, a car cover, and a Ferrari 250/GT Service and Maintenance book compiled by Jim Riff. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright History of the Ferrari Boano The 1950s would prove to be a critical decade for the survival of Ferrari. - 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport 2
Its Portello factory devastated by wartime bombing, Alfa Romeo did not resume car production until 1946 with, inevitably, a pre-war carry-over, the 6C 2500 in a variety of new guises forming the basis of the Milanese marque's post-war recovery. Destined to be the last of the separate-chassis Alfas, the 2500 had debuted in 1939 and was a development of the preceding 2300. Styled in-house but strongly influenced by Touring, the five-seater Freccia d'Oro (Golden Arrow) sports saloon was built alongside coupe and cabriolet versions featuring bodies by the likes of Batista "Pinin" Farina, Touring and Ghia, plus a six/seven-seater Berlina on a longer wheelbase. The Alfa tradition of building driver's cars 'par excellence' was upheld by the 2500, for although the box-section chassis was no longer state-of-the-art, it boasted all-independent suspension, generously-sized brakes, fast-geared steering and an unusually slick, column-mounted gear change. The engine was, of course, the latest version of Alfa's race-developed double-overhead-camshaft 'six', its 2,443cc displacement having been arrived at by enlarging the bore of the 2300. Maximum power ranged from 90bhp in single-carburettor 'Sport' guise to 105bhp in the triple-carburettor Super Sport. Considerably lighter than the saloon, the latter could easily exceed 100mph. The short-wheelbase Super Sport chassis was manufactured until 1951, by which time 383 had been produced with most of these bespoke, hand-built cars being bodied as Superleggera coupes by Touring, whilst the remainder sported Cabriolet coachwork by Pinin Farina. The gorgeous 6C 2500SS on offer here is luxuriously clothed in two-seater cabriolet coachwork by Carrozzeria Pinin Farina. The late 1940s was a period of exceptional creativity for Pinin Farina, the 6C 2500 chassis, especially the Super Sport version, allowing the Italian maestro the freedom to experiment with new lines and design solutions. Indeed, a 6C 2500SS with similar coachwork to that of this car achieved a First Place award at the prestigious Villa d'Este Concours in 1949. Chassis number #915725 was finished by the factory on the 1st February 1949 and dispatched to SALEM in Paris on 4th July that same year. It was brought to England in January 1950 by its then-owner, Colette Lartigue (possibly of the French industrial family), and registered 'NMA 857'. Its third owner, William Hamill a maritime engineer from Scotland, acquired the Alfa in November 1955 and it remained within his family for a number of years, moving to the Midlands a little later. In 1970, the car was bought by Paul Mann, who carried out some refurbishment, including painting it white. He stored it in a warehouse in Birmingham's jewellery quarter for almost 30 years before selling it to its next owner in 2000 who returned it to Scotland. Prior to his ownership, it had not been taxed for the road since June 1967 when the Hamill family sold it. Although complete, the car required a complete restoration, which has been undertaken over a number of years. It was dismantled down to the chassis and the coachwork was stripped to bare metal, exposing Pininfarina's original blue paintwork in the process. The coachwork was found to be in excellent condition and required no repairs in preparation for repainting, which was carried out by Billy Johns at John R Weir in Inverness. All brightwork has either been re-plated or polished by Derby Plating and the interior re-trimmed in the original shade of red leather by Alex Watt & Sons of Perth. The brakes, suspension, cooling and fuel systems, including the mechanical fuel pump, have all been rebuilt, as have the Borrani wire wheels. All wiring has been replaced, with ancillaries and instruments overhauled where necessary. More recently, the engine has had a comprehensive rebuild at Jim Stokes Workshops, the leading UK specialists in 6C/8C engines, and the car has covered very few miles since its completion in 2009. Work undertaken by Jim Stokes included metal-stitched reinforcing of the cylinder block and replacing the head studs with longer ones to provide additional stiffening. New modified con-rods with shell bearings (instead of white metal) and new pistons have been fitted and the main bearings were re-metalled by Gosnay Engineering early on in the restoration process. The cylinder head has been rebuilt with new valves, seats and guides, tappet bases laser-welded and reground, tappet tops reground and DLC coated and the cams have been re-profiled. It was discovered that, because of the design of the oil pick-up from the sump, after a lengthy period of storage the oil pump would not collect enough oil to lubricate the bearings sufficiently so, to resolve this problem, JSW has fitted a 'pre-lube' system which ensures that correct oil pressure is achieved before the starter is engaged. A modern clutch assembly has been fitted also to aid driveability. Subsequently purchased by a significant collector in 2014, this special car has been stored and used very little since. To release its full potential, a recommissioning process may be required to reawaken this supremely elegant and glamorous cabriolet. 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL 1
The Mercedes-Benz SL of the type R107. Cars with a timeless beauty. This R107 is an original German delivered car, but only in the Netherlands since 2002. In the Netherlands it has had 3 owners with its smooth engine and fantastic build quality. The SL is rust and damage free. The mudguards, seams, trunk lid and door sills are completely intact. The interior of this well-maintained R107 is also in good condition. The interior always says a lot about a car, with this R107 we see that it has always been well cared for! The consumption is around 11 liters per 100 kilometers. Of course a bit much by today's politically correct standards, but for a car from 1986 with a big six engine that is not exaggerated. From the factory, the 300 came with the following options 240 OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE INDICATOR 406 SINGLE SEAT WITH ORTHOPEDIC SEAT BACKREST, LEFT AND RIGHT 420 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 4-GEAR 440 TEMPOMAT (CRUISE CONTROL) 506 OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR (HEATED AND ELECT RICALLY ADJUSTABLE) 532 AUTOMATIC ANTENNA WITHOUT RADIO SET 543 SUN VISOR WITH VANITY MIRROR 565 REAR SEATS USED ON SL MODELS 570 FOLDING ARMREST, FRONT 585 BEHR AIR CONDITIONER AND ELECTRIC WINDOW LIFTER 590 HEAT INSULATING GLASS, ALL AROUND 600 HEADLAMP WIPER 620 VEHICLES WITH CATALYST TECHNIQUE 740 BLACK SOFT TOP 873 SEAT HEATER FOR LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT SEATS The electric windows and hardtop make this Mercedes a practical enthusiast's car, which is very user-friendly. In short, the R107 is a fantastic classic; incredibly beautiful, comfortable, fast, powerful and very solid. The iconic 3.0 liter straight-six completes it. Not convinced yet?
