- 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 Superformance
This Superformance Cobra MKIII is a replica of the third-generation 427 Shelby Cobra. Superformance built the Cobra under license from Carroll Shelby, tailored to the customer's specifications, and is regarded by experts as the highest quality Cobra replica. The car we are offering was first put into use in the Netherlands in November 2001. Driving this car is a true thrill. Recently, the current owner chose to replace the already powerful engine with an even stronger one. A Roush 427R engine with 550 horsepower and approximately 800Nm of torque was selected. This engine has only 5,000 km on it. On this occasion, new side pipes developed by Samba Engineering were also installed. If desired, the original, slightly more muffled exhausts are included separately. The street-legal balloon tires, which are nearly unmatched in appearance (front: 235/60/R15, rear: 295/60/R15), are new. The exterior, in the most sought-after color combination, the immense power, and the sound of the heavy V8 never get old. A true enthusiast's car like they no longer make. The car is like new and immaculate. We are selling the car on consignment, and it will only be sold after approval by the current owner. 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 Superformance Veni Vidi Vici Classic Cars BV If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Black Exterior Finish, Red Interior – From New! Matching Numbers Rudge Wheels Spare, Tools, Knock-off Hammer, Owner’s Manual Ground Up Restoration 1 of 552 Produced in 1958 – Last Year of the Speedster Push-Rod Engine Production First in Class, Carmel-By-The-Sea Concours 2019 Created and built on the vision by one of America’s most prolific importers Max Hoffman, the Porsche 356 Speedster filled a void that the clever automotive industrialist thought was lacking: a lightweight, few frills, open top sports car. His intuition, like many other times, proved to be correct and the Speedster was a resounding success. Finding iconic owners such as Steve McQueen saw the Speedster’s popularity shoot into the stratosphere, and today these low-slung 356s are some of the most sought-after variants built by Porsche. The 356 Speedster holds significant historical importance in the evolution of sports car design and automotive culture. At its core, the Speedster represented a departure from conventional luxury and performance cars of its time. Conceived as a stripped down, more affordable variant of the Porsche 356, it embodied a purist approach to driving pleasure. Introduced in the post-war era, the 356 Speedster catered to a growing demand for lightweight, nimble sports cars that emphasized agility and handling over sheer horsepower. Its minimalist design, characterized by a low, raked windshield, and removable top, reflected this philosophy. This simplicity not only reduced weight, but also enhanced the driving experience, allowing automotive enthusiasts to feel more connected to the road. Moreover, the 1958 Speedster played a pivotal role in popularizing the Porsche brand here in the United States. With its sleek styling and engaging driving dynamics, it captivated a new generation of enthusiasts. Its success laid the groundwork for Porsche’s subsequent achievements in motorsport and its enduring reputation as a manufacturer of high-performance sports cars. This 356 received a ground up restoration. Every element of the Speedster was addressed during the restoration process, with the intention that the car be as meticulous mechanically as it would be cosmetically flawless, knowing that the stunning color combination of a beautiful black over red interior would make for the perfect Best of Show contender. Every component of the car was disassembled, assessed, and restored to perfection. 1958 was the last year of 356 Speedster push-rod production, with an estimated 552 produced. Presented here is an excellent opportunity to be the next caretaker of a concours-level, expertly restored Speedster. Upon arrival at Canepa, every collector car for sale is put through an extensive and diligent process called the “Canepa Difference.” This includes a major and comprehensive mechanical inspection where all systems are checked, serviced, and restored as needed. They also receive award-winning concours-level detailing, including a thorough cleaning of each and every surface. 1958 Porsche 356A Speedster Canepa If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 2
This 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera is finished in Black over Black, and benefits from some RS-style modifications, giving it a unique look. At the time of cataloging, this car shows 171,668 miles and was sold new in Connecticut. At some point in the car’s life, it was treated to some very attractive upgrades on the exterior that are meant to evoke the 993 Carrera RS - a car that was never officially imported stateside. The first thing you will notice is the wide, rear spoiler - on the RS, this was known as the “low” spoiler and is clearly inspired by the whale tail you frequently see on G-Body 911s of the 1980s. In front, an RS-style splitter was added beneath the standard bumper, and the front marker lights have been swapped out for brake cooling ducts and small front fog lights. The wheels have also been swapped out for a set of multi-piece BBS wheels that were standard equipment on the 996.1 GT3, giving the car a striking motorsport look. Finished in color-matched black with polished lips, these make the red-painted brake calipers really stand out against the otherwise all black exterior. This Porsche is optioned with a black partial leather interior on the inside. The front seats have partial power adjustment, and a JVC head unit with modern connectivity options has been added in the dashboard. The interior does show some wear on the bolsters but it is all consummate with the age and mileage of the car. Powering the 993 Carrera is a 3.6-liter M64 Flat-6 engine that produces 272 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque and loves to pull hard all the way to the 7,000 rpm redline. 1996 was the first year of the VarioRam system on the 993, which features variable length intake runners and is designed to optimize both low-down torque and high RPM power. The implementation of this system resulted in an increase of 14 horsepower and 10 lb-ft of torque. In this Carrera, the engine has been freshly serviced and is ready to be driven. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual Getrag gearbox with Porsche’s famous floor-hinged pedals. The 993 Carrera is known as a fantastic driver’s car, and this example is perfect for the enthusiast who wants to enjoy lots of time behind the wheel. When you pair that with the fantastic Carrera RS updates, this is a 993 that will stand out at your local car show, and put a smile on your face every time you drive. 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera ISSIMI, Inc If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1964 Lotus Elan 26R
For Lotus, 1962 was arguably the most important year in the company's history. In a short space of time, they launched the revolutionary 25 Grand Prix, the first true monocoque, and the revolutionary 26 or 'Elan', an equally revolutionary road car. If the 25 won the British company its first Formula One championships, the Elan confirmed the small firm's seriousness as a sports car manufacturer. Lotus founder Colin Chapman could be forgiven for not building a competition version of the Elan. However, this did not stop his customers from taking their production cars to the track. First modifications Although the production car had fabulous handling and low weight, it had to be prepared for the track. Private teams such as Walker Racing and Chequered Flag took up the challenge and made various modifications to the steering and braking. Chapman followed the private efforts with great interest and even allowed his factory drivers to participate. The 1963 and 1964 seasons were very successful, and the cars were driven by the likes of Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart and Sir John Whitmore. As a businessman, Chapman quickly realised that there was a market for a factory-built racing version of the Lotus Elan. Elan 26R Chapman retained all the modifications made by his customers. In addition, the suspension was extensively modified with larger anti-roll bars and adjustable racing booms. The fibreglass body wheel arches were widened to make room for larger wheels and tyres. The Lotus four-cylinder DOHC engine was offered with a Cosworth or BRM tuning package. Interestingly, customers later discovered that the engine worked best with a Cosworth block and a BRM cylinder head. Dubbed the "Elan 26R", the competition car was offered with a Roadster body, roll bar and separate hardtop. Although no two cars were identical, most 26Rs were fitted with streamlined headlights and four-spoke wheels. Success The Elan 26R was fully homologated during the 1964 season. The race car weighed about 600 kg and its 1558 cc engine could produce between 160 and 175 hp depending on the settings. Its closest rival was the Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ, which was very light if a little heavier and also had a powerful 1.6 litre engine. Like David and Goliath, the racing Elan was also capable of matching cars with much larger displacement. While the Ferraris, Aston Martins and Jaguars outpaced the Elan in a straight line, the little Lotus was a match for it in the corners. The Elan was particularly effective on twisty or fast tracks like Goodwood. Lotus never entered the 26R Elan under its own banner. Instead, it supported private teams, notably that of Ian Walker, who had been instrumental in developing the cars in the first place. Walker took his golden Elans all over the UK but also to the rest of Europe. Along with several other teams, the Elans have done nothing but dominate their class. The most successful 26R driver was future Lotus F1 driver John Miles. In 1966 he won the Autosport championship with 15 race victories in a Willment-prepared car. One of his most memorable victories came at Brands Hatch, against a V8-powered Sunbeam Tiger. As his bonnet came off, he was forced to make a pit stop. Once removed, he reeled in the entire field and passed the Sunbeam on the final lap. Today With many cars sold to customers as kits, it is difficult to give an exact figure for the number of Elan 26Rs produced. Most brand experts agree on a figure of 97 cars. Today, the 26R is still very popular with historic racers who sparkle at the wheel of the Elan. Many standard production Elans have since been converted to 26R specification. Our "26R20" car is not only one of the few original 26Rs from the period, it's also one of the 3 cars converted by Shapecraft in 1964. The Shapecraft conversion involved the use of an aluminum "Fastback" hardtop riveted and bonded to the Elan's body. The conversion was ordered and sold by Surbiton Motors Limited, a Lotus dealer and Jack Brabham's agent. The owner, Barry Wood, was a private driver who raced the Elan in competition. SURBITON Motors was a small operation, with just three employees: Barry WOOD the driver-manager, a salesman, and Mr Chris BURTON as mechanic. In 1963, Barry WOOD bought an Elan S1 from Lotus. He prepared this car by modifying its front end and adding a profiled fixed roof of his own design, which he had made at SHAPECRAFT, a companý based in TOLWORTH, SURREY, specializing in aluminum work for the aerospace industry. These modifications were carried out by hand, directly on the car, making it the prototype of the future car. WOOD persuaded SHAPECRAFT to make a mold for future production. By 1963, Surbiton Motors had entered the car in several races. Barry finally decided to market only the fixed-roof concept. He exhibited the car on stand 33, at the Racing Car Show organized by the British Racing & Sports Car Club at the West Hall Olympiad in London from January 22nd to February 1st 1964. It was at the Racing Car Show that Lotus Components Ltd exhibited, on stand 19, the Racing version of the Elan under the name 26R. Barry WOOD immediately ordered a 26R at the show, and persuaded his friend Les ARNOLD to do the same. ARNOLD receives the 26R4 on April 14, 1964. The 26R20 is delivered to WOOD on June 2, 1964. Both cars will be identically modified by SHAPECRAFT, with the profiled aluminum roof, rear ventilation and side windowś, but they will keep the original front nose. A third car, the 26R7, will be made for Dick CROSSFIELD, without the side windowś. These three cars were the only ones produced by SHAPECRAFT for Surbiton Motors. The 26R20 was in the hands of Barry Wood for the 1964 season. At the end of that season, the car was sold to Steve Thompson, "opposite Lock Club", who would continue to enter the fast Shapecraft in British races. Throughout its life, the 26R20 will always be kept racing, to enjoy a new, busy career in historic racing. From 1981 to 2011, the 26R20 is owned by Tony Thompson, the great Lotus Elan guru and driver. Our Lotus will continue its sporting destiny, under the care and expertise of Tony Thompson Racing. In 2011, it changes hands and becomes the property of several French collectors, before joining the stable of Georges Verquin, amateur driver and regular participant in Peter Auto races. Once again, George successfully entered his rare shapecraft in numerous races in Europe: Spa, Porto, Le Mans Classic... At this time, it was the talented Philip Harper who took a closer look at the 26R20's racy mechanics. In 2021, through Historic Car, the car joined an important collection of Lotus cars from Northern Europe. Today, the car is offered with numerous parts, its HTP valid until 1931 and complete documentation going back a long way in the car's history. The car is deliver with a lovely spare parts package. Ready to race, it has recently benefited from a thorough overhaul (New paint / new gearbox, new brakes...). - 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello 2
The 550 Maranello marked Ferrari's return to producing a front-engined V12 two-seat Berlinetta GT, a type of car they hadn't built since the 365 GTB/4 Daytona of the early '70s. Often referred to as the "modern Daytona", the 550 was a triumph - combining precise, lightweight steering, 50/50 weight distribution with the all-important 485bhp V12 and silky 6-speed manual gearbox - all clothed in the beautiful, subtle lines that define the understated 550. And 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and 199mph makes it fast by any generation's standards. This lovely car was originally supplied by Maranello in October 1997, finished in Argento Nurburgring over a Blue leather interior. Since then it has been cared for as any Ferrari of this type should - regular servicing with the right people, including DK Engineering and Neal Lucas. 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello Duncan Hamilton Rofgo Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright The 550 Maranello marked Ferrari's return to producing a front-engined V12 two-seat Berlinetta GT, a type of car they hadn't built since the 365 GTB/4 Daytona of the early '70s. - 1993 Jaguar XJ220
This exceptional example of Jaguar’s 1990's rocket ship finished production on the 11th of January 1993 and was delivered new to Masao Kosugi in June of that year. The car was specified in Spa Silver over a Smoke Grey interior, which is exactly how the car presents today, of course featuring the 5-speed manual gearbox mated to the potent twin-turbo V6 engine. Mr Kosugi clearly took careful ownership of the XJ220, bringing it to TWR Jaguar Sport twice in 1993 for its 1,500 mile and then 5,000 mile service, despite having only covered 350 kilometers by mid-November that year. After this, the car was sent to Japan where it was to be enjoyed for a good portion of its life. During its time in the country, the car saw three services, one of which was a major service in 2014 with parts supplied by XJ220 specialist Don Law, of which has been confirmed by Don himself. Later, in 2015, the car was acquired by Mr Gordon of London who proceeded to bring the XJ220 back into the United Kindgom and subsequently registered the car in November of that year. Mr Gordon would keep the XJ220 for only one year, when in late 2016 DK Engineering were given the car to sell. During this time, major works were carried out in our own workshop, totalling over 100 hours of work. The car would quickly pass to its current owner after works were completed and subsequently, in November of the same year, the car was delivered to its current owner. In June of 2023, the car arrived back at DK Engineering after the decision was made to sell the car. During preparation for sale the car was sent to Don Law, the world-leading XJ220 specialist, who proceeded to carry out a major service and fuel cell replacement. Alongside the service, further works were also carried out that resulted in almost £35k being spent. This included, but was not limited to: a replacement clutch, replacement fuel hoses, replacement fuel pumps, a full suspension damper rebuild, brake caliper overhaul, multiple gasket replacement including the head gasket, replacement throttle cables, and the well regarded TWR coolant pipe upgrade. Today, this car has covered just 5,350 kilometers from new and having been in careful ownership throughout its life and fresh from major works, is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner. This example is available to view by appointment, at our showrooms based just outside of London. 1993 Jaguar XJ220 D.K. - 1963 Aston Martin DB5
Originally registered on 1 December 1963 – the first year of production – this Aston Martin DB5 has led a full life with its exclusively UK-based owners. Chassis number DB5/1957/R was supplied via Brooklands of Bond Street in the colour combination of Caribbean Pearl with red interior. It was fitted with the five-speed ZF gearbox and it’s thought that its first owner worked for Manger & Henley Ltd of Borough High Street. In the mid-1980s it was acquired by John Goldsmith, who had set up marque specialist Goldsmith & Young in 1980. Registered 73 GYL, it was the second Aston that Goldsmith had owned – after his GT-engined Series 5 DB4 Vantage – and he later recalled buying it from the father of his friend Tim Bisset. At that time, it was still painted Caribbean Pearl. Goldsmith was a keen racer and set about using his DB5 in competition, giving it wider arches in order to accommodate different wheels and tyres. He successfully raced it across the UK at circuits such as Oulton Park, and set the lap record around the Indy Circuit at Brands Hatch. When Goldsmith sold the car in 1991, he retained the numberplate 73 GYL, which was subsequently seen on the DB4 GT Zagato that he raced. The DB5, meanwhile, passed to a Mr Pitkethley – another marque enthusiast who also owned a DB6 – and was registered XMR 936A. In 2000, the engine was rebuilt and enlarged to 4.2 litres with Cosworth pistons. The Aston was also repainted Silver Birch and the interior was retrimmed in black. During the early 2000s, it made a number of appearances at charity and corporate events as part of the Character Cars fleet and was always fastidiously maintained. Recent work has included a new head gasket at Bell Sport Classic and this matching-numbers Aston Martin DB5 is now offered for sale by The Classic Motor Hub with an extensive history file and its original handbook. 1963 Aston Martin DB5 The Classic Motor Hub If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda 3
Available now, this stunning 280SL Pagoda from Hemmels is finished in metallic Grey with Red interior. This breathtaking 'perfect' classic has been restored according to the uncompromising standards of our Neugeboren Process, ensuring it looks, feels and drives like new. Of course the car is covered by our full, world-wide warranty. Those familiar with us know how incredibly rare it is to find a "new" Hemmels classic available for immediate acquisition. The car was originally created for a client just before the initial lockdown in the UK. The client necessarily confined the car to being displayed in his private garage, driving it less than 250 miles since delivery. Hence, this is an incredible opportunity to obtain a 280SL Pagoda of the absolute highest possible quality from Hemmels without having to wait for the typical 18-24 month build period. Note that the car is left-hand drive and ready for use in the USA or mainland Europe, though touring on UK roads with a LHD is no chore -other than avoiding the admirers who are awestruck by its beauty! Respectfully, we anticipate a significant interest in this Pagoda, and we advise potential collectors to contact Hemmels poste haste. In fairness, Hemmels will be replying to enquiries in the order in which they are received, be it by phone, email or other means. 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda Hemmels Vault If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1992-bmw-alpina-b12-50
In 1990, Alpina introduced the E31 B12 5.0 Coupé, based on the BMW 850i. The Grand Touring model was already a tremendous success for BMW, and this rarity quickly proved its worth among enthusiasts. Alpina always had its own vision, and they made significant technical modifications. Alpina used different pistons, larger intake valves, a new exhaust system, and a slightly modified Bosch Motronic engine management system. The B12 5.0 was exclusively available with a four-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, Alpina refined the chassis, fitted 17-inch, twenty-spoke wheels, and extended the front spoiler. Optionally – and present on this car – is the well-known Alpina striping. The mastermind behind this creation is genius Burkard Bovensiepen, who had a burning desire since 1962 to go beyond where BMW’s factory efforts ended. With an enormous focus on quality, Alpina impressed BMW so much with its Alpina kits in 1964 that BMW granted them factory warranty! And ours? As you may have realized by now: one of only 97 ever built, originally delivered in Germany, and complete with a comprehensive file of maintenance and history that documents its life in detail. Finished in Sonderlackierung Dunkel Sapphire Blue Metallic and in an exceptionally original condition, this example is waiting for a new owner! Will you come by?
