  • 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Group IV

The Lancia Stratos HF Short, stubby and simply unstoppable, the Lancia Stratos HF won a staggering 18 World Rally events and no fewer than three World Rally Championships. Its formidable performance can be attributed largely to Marcello Gandini, the design wunderkind who, working under the Bertone banner, single-handedly revolutionised the world of car design. The introduction of the Stratos in 1970 heralded the era of the ‘wedge’ and petrolheads simply had no idea what they were in for. Arguably the very first thoroughbred rally car, no stone was left unturned by Lancia and Bertone’s designers and engineers in the quest for performance. The Stratos’ desperately short wheelbase (just 2.18 metres) coupled with its 880kg weight meant it was positively nimble and direct. It took a skip-full of skill to master it, which explains why Sandro Munari ranks so highly in our list of great drivers. For the heart of its new car, Lancia approached Ferrari, a company whose legend was forged around the power and reliability of its engines. A 2.4-litre six-cylinder ‘Dino’ engine was chosen and tucked transversely right behind the cabin. It produced a mighty 300HP in Corsa spec. And it sounded a rabid dog barking for its life. “Short, stubby and simply unstoppable, the Lancia Stratos HF won a staggering 18 World Rally events and no fewer than three World Rally Championships.” Crucially, the rallying rules of the time dictated that 500 road-specification cars were to be built in order to homologate a competition variant. In typically Italian fashion, Lancia didn’t manage to do that. It’s estimated that 492 Stratos HFs left the marque’s Chivasso plant, of which this fascinating Group IV-specification road-racing example from 1975 is one. Chassis number 001936 Born as a HF Stradale in 1975, this Lancia Stratos – chassis number 001936 – was acquired new by the illustrious Jolly Club Racing Team, the Milan-based outfit which operated with assistance directly from the Works in Turin. Upgraded by Jolly Club to full Group IV competition specification, the car was registered with the Milan number ‘MI Z87753’ on 31 October in advance of its maiden competitive outing: Rally Campagnolo. The penultimate round in the geo-based Nazionale Zona 2 series for 1975, the asphalt event saw 142 entrants take to the starting line, of which chassis number 001936 was one. The Italian Ferdinando Montaldo was in the driver’s seat, while Claudio Pozzi was alongside reading the pace notes. In what was an impressive start to this Stratos’ competition career, the duo finished fifth overall. Over the course of the next four years, Montaldo contested 13 further Italian events with this Lancia Stratos, including the very first editions of both the Rally Costa Smeralda and the Rally Autodromo di Monza. Standout results included a class victory (third overall) in the 1979 Rally dei Vini and fourth overall in the Rally Autodromo di Monza in 1980. Crucially, this car’s competition career is comprehensively documented in the most wonderful black-and-white and colour photographs, copies of which are included in our accompanying history file “Crucially, this car’s competition career is comprehensively documented in the most wonderful black-and-white and colour photographs.” In 1980, Montaldo officially purchased the Stratos with which he’d so closely bonded from Jolly Club, re-registering it in his native region of Cuneo. Just over a year later, chassis number 001936 was sold to France, more specifically a gentleman by the name of Guy Domet, who at the time was the sitting president of the Ferrari Owners’ Club of France. Domet retained this Stratos for 23 years, during which time it was refinished in the Works Alitalia livery and driven by the French tarmac-rally specialist François Delecour for a feature in the popular French magazine Sport Auto. Chassis number 001936 passed through the hands of two further French collectors before it was acquired by its final private owner, a keen historic racing driver from Switzerland, in December of 2011. In the years since, this Stratos has been diligently maintained by Tommaso Gelmini’s GPS Classics outfit near Modena. The car was awarded its Historic Technical Passport by the FIA in 2017 – certification which will remain valid until 2027. More recently, chassis number 001936’s six-cylinder Ferrari engine was comprehensively rebuilt, the body was refinished in its original shade of rosso and the exact livery from the 1978 Rally Costa Smeralda was reinstated. In June of 2023, our man Davide De Giorgi shook down the car on the historic Vernasca Silver Flag hill-climb in Emilia-Romagna. “To be able to paint such a clear picture of a Stratos’ history like this is, in our experience, incredibly rare.” Wanting for absolutely nothing, this EU-taxes-paid Group IV-specification Lancia Stratos would make for the perfect car with which to tackle such popular events as the Tour Auto Optic 2000, Modena Cento Ore, Rallylegend and the Eifel Rallye Festival. Unlike many Stratos’ prepared for historic competition today, chassis number 001936 has been set up slightly softer and with real-world road use in mind. This makes it the perfect counterpart for any drive, from a Sunday afternoon B-road blast to a 1000-mile regularity rally. This Lancia’s comprehensively documented period competition history in Italy is a significant string to its bow. As is the car’s short chain of only five private owners – to be able to paint such a clear picture of a Stratos’ history like this is, in our experience, incredibly rare. As our estimable leader Max Girardo maintains, every great collection needs a Lancia Stratos. 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Group IV Girardo & Co. • 1984 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole

After the famous Dino 206 and 246 came the Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS. Available as either a Berlinetta or a Targa top car, respectively, the 308 shared a lot of mechanical underpinnings with the Dino and was also designed by Pininfarina’s Leonardo Fioravanti. The biggest upgrade came under the hood, as Ferrari gave the 308 the 2.9 L Tipo F106 V8 engine, instead of a V6 like the Dino, and a five-speed manual transmission. In 1980, both models received Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection leading to the 308 GTBi and GTSi. Another upgrade came two years later in 1982 when Ferrari gave the car four valves per cylinder, called it the quattrovalvole, and pushed power output to 240 hp through the same five-speed manual transmission. Exterior changes included a louvered panel in the front for radiator exhaust air, power-operated mirrors, a redesigned radiator grille with rectangular driving lights on each side, and rectangular side markers. The interior received a new, satin black three-spoke steering wheel, and optional cloth seat inserts. The new quattrovalvole model carried over the Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and Magneti Marelli Digiplex electronic ignition. All US models were equipped with catalytic converters to meet emissions regulations. Between 1982 and 1985, the quattrovalvole model saw 3042 GTS Targa top examples produced but only 748 GTB Berlinetta examples. This particular example, Chassis # ZFFUA13A1E0050715, is a 1984 GTS Targa top quatrovalvole. It came from the factory with a Nero paint job and a contrasting tan leather interior. The CarFax history report starts in February of 1994 when the car had 20,430 miles on the odometer. The service records on file also start around this time, largely from MotorCars International in Springfield, MO. Several took place in July of 2000 with one notable service including dying the seats, console, and both side door panels. In September of that same year, it returned for a 30,000-mile service which included timing belts, seals, filters, and the water pump. In June of 2005, the Ferrari joined the inventory of Youngblood Auto Group in Springfield, MO and in November of that year, it received a new fender emblem from MotorCars International. In January of 2006, a new cam belt was installed along with its tensioner and idler bearing as well as an alternator belt and air conditioning belt. In April, Specialty Motorwerkes in Dayton, OH, treated the car to a new distributor cap, rotor, and gasket. In November of 2006, new mirror caps were installed from Maranello Auto Parts in Tucker, GA. Things changed in July of 2007, when the Ferrari was bought by someone in Rochester, MI who went on to own the car until it was consigned to us in 2023. In February of 2013, it received another major service at All Ferrari Parts in Westerville, OH that included timing belt and bearing, cam cover gasket and seals, water pump seal, filters, and distributor cap gasket. In May of that same year, T. Rutlands provided new radiator hoses, a lower radiator water pipe, and an OEM trunk cover. In February of 2014, two new window accelerator modules were sourced from Ricambi America in Winston Salem, NC along with an entire fusebox from Birdman’s 308 Parts in North Reading, MA. The latest service on record, sourced with parts from Ricambi America in April of 2020, echoes the major service performed in 2013 with a new timing belt and bearing, cam cover gasket and seals, water pump seal, filters, and distributor cap gasket. It was performed by the owner less than 100 miles ago. As it sits, this is a very clean 308 with few blemishes and less than 35,000 miles on the odometer. Thanks to the recently performed major service, this Italian stallion should provide its future owner with plenty of 80s action movie-style, high-speed motoring. Your local chapter of the Ferrari Club of America is sure to welcome you with open arms as well. Upon purchase, the new owner will receive the original toolkit, jack, spare tire, owner’s manuals & booklets, and all of the service records on file. EXTERIOR Body And Paint The body is remarkably straight with great shut gaps. The doors close with ease and a firm thud. Overall, the exterior is in really nice shape. Minor imperfections such as slight peppering on the painted portions of wheel-wells behind the wheels and slight peppering on the lower portion of the front bumper consistent with the mileage. Glass And Trim The glass appears to be all original with correct markings throughout. The trim finish is correct and consistent with the age and mileage as are the front/rear bumpers. They remain supple, free from warping and fade. Wheels The wheels are in respectable condition showing no signs of curb rash. The center caps could use replacements as they are cracked. INTERIOR Seats And Surfaces The seats, headliner, carpets, dash, and leather around the center console are extremely tight-fitting. The driver side seat has some creasing but nothing excessive. Everything functions as it should with no excessive wear on any components. Functionality And Accessories Everything appears to operate as it should. The gauges, lights, radio, fan, wipers, hazard lights etc. function properly. The window regulators, which are a known issue for operating slowly, but eventually complete the task. ENGINE BAY AND TRUNK Engine Bay The engine bay presents very nicely. All of the finishes, factory-applied stickers, and many original clamps are still intact. Save for some of the serviceable, time-out items that have been replaced, the engine bay is largely original and exemplary of how it came off the factory floor. Trunk Area The trunk area is clean and tidy. The front one retains its full-sized spare tire and a 5th 5-spoke Cromadora wheel. The rear trunk has the factory tool set and jack present and the leather cover still works as it should. MECHANICALS Engine With little effort, the engine comes to life from a cold start. It sounds exceptionally smooth, with ample throttle response and perfect exhaust note. When the throttle is applied, revving is linear and power is consistent. Transmission The precise, gating shifting is smooth and effortless. Brakes And Suspension The brakes and suspension are very smooth and the car feels tight giving the driver a sense of confidence. Tires The tires are Michelin Pilot Sports and appear to be dated to 2000. Though they aren't hard or cracking we would recommend replacing them. 1984 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole LBI Limited If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Chassis 875511 was dispatched on the 29th September 1961 directly to a Mr Hans Schenk of the Bahamas via East Bay Service Ltd of Nassau - in cream paint, light blue trim and blue hood, it was soon registered 'NP975'. Schenk was a celebrity chef in the Bahamas and bought the car for the sole purpose of winning at the world-famous International Bahamas Speed Week. Schenk was also a driver of some note, winning many races and building up quite a following as a man-about-town in the Caribbean, having raced competitively since 1957. By December 1961, Schenk and the brand new E-type were ready for 'Speed Week'- a truly international event attended by greats including Peter Revson, Chris Amon, Jackie Stewart, Bruce McLaren, Ricardo and Pedro Rodriguez, Jack Brabham, Jim Hall, Wolfgang von Trips, Jo Bonnier, Ken Miles, Frank Gardner, John Surtees, Richie Ginther, Masten Gregory, Phil Hill, Graham Hill, Stirling Moss, Lance Reventlow, Dan Gurney, Peter Collins, Carroll Shelby, Innes Ireland, A.J Foyt, Roger Penske, Mark Donohue and many more. With the addition of a black nose to the car, and with sponsorship from Goodyear tyres and Champion spark plugs, Schenk and his Jaguar now had a very distinctive livery too. In his first ever race in the car, Schenk placed an impressive 2nd overall, behind the highly-developed and very rapid Austin[1]Healey-Corvette of Tony Adams. Another 2nd would follow during the 1961 event, giving him high hopes for next year. 1962 saw Schenk up against even stiffer opposition, especially from other E-types now appearing on the Islands. He was though immediately on the pace, bagging a 2nd place in race one of the week and securing his first overall victory in race two, seeing off opposition from Jaguar, Porsche, Lotus, MG, Triumph, and Austin-Healey. His final race of the week was the prestigious 'Bahamas Cup' race, which Schenk and NP975 promptly won, at an average speed of 77.216mph. 1963 saw Schenk and NP975 take a clean sweep of the Speed Week, winning race one, race two and once again the Bahamas Cup race, at an impressive average speed of 79.841mph. For 1964, and in a bid to keep winning, Schenk moved onto a competition Shelby Cobra, selling the E-type to his rival Tony Adams. Race one and two of that year's Speed Week would see Adams pipped to the post by Schenk in the thundering Cobra, whilst he managed to hang on to a very well earned podium in the Bahamas Cup. 1965 would be the last year of competition use for NP975, but there was no lack of pace - Tony Adams securing a second place in the Bahamas Cup, giving the car an amazing four podiums on the trot from 1962-1965. In late 1965, Tony Adams would take his E-type on a European driving tour before settling with it in Australia. The third owner would be a Mr. Skevington, who would eventually undertake a AUD 145,000 restoration from 1997-1999, later registering the car '61 ETYPE' in Perth. Today chassis 875511 has been restored to exacting 'Bahamas' race-specification by CKL Developments. Your ticket to Goodwood and the world’s greatest GT grids. Keep it as-is or up-spec into a pre-66 semi-lightweight specification - with race-winning period history from 1961-1965, both the Kinrara Trophy and RAC TT would be appropriate. Very seldom to original competition Jaguar E-types appear, especially ones with both success and rich and colourful histories. 1961 Jaguar E-type Competition RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1996-ferrari-f512-m

This 1996 Ferrari F512 M is one of the final examples produced, built in January 1996 and delivered to its first and only owner in June of the same year. Sold via Swiss Ferrari dealer Garage Foitek AG in Zurich, the car has been exclusively serviced there since new, with stamps in the owner’s manual to prove it. Showing just 28.953 km at the time of cataloging, it remains in exceptional condition to this day. Finished in Rosso Corsa, the F512 M is easily distinguished from its other Testarossa brethren by a few significant design changes. The largest difference is the front end - where both the Testarossa and 512TR featured pop-up headlights, the M has exposed units with projector headlights, which are paired with a revised front bumper and front lid with dual-NACA ducts. At the rear, we see Ferrari’s return to the dual-round tail lights in place of the large single rectangular units on the previous Testarossas. And of course, it wouldn’t be an F512 M without the unique twisted 5-spoke multi-piece wheels from Speedline which are wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires. The interior of this F512 M is wrapped in tan leather, with a black leather dash-topper. For anybody who is familiar with the interior of a 512 TR, it remains largely unchanged for the F512 M. The bucket seats are nicely bolstered, but still comfortable for long-distance touring - the Testarossa lineage’s specialty- and the orange-on-black gauges give the car a classic feel. The only real alterations from a 512 TR is the steering wheel, a chromed gear knob and drilled aluminum pedals. Powering the F152 M is the final iteration of the Tipo F113 “Flat-12” which displaces 4.9-liters. Power is up slightly over the 512 TR from 422 to 434 horsepower and torque is up from 362 to 370 lb-ft. But what makes the F512 M feel more race-car like is the use of titanium connecting rods and a new crankshaft which reduces the engine’s rotating mass by 16 lbs which makes for a very lively engine. Power is then sent through a 5-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels. All of these upgrades were paired with the improved rear subframe of the 512TR and the numerous suspension tweaks which made the handling far better than that of the original Testarossa. The F512 M represents the end of an era for Ferrari. When the brand returned to the front-engine V12 cars it built its name on with the 550 Maranello, it left the flat-12 layout behind, with the “M” standing is the final variant in a long and successful lineage. This example has been meticulously kept from new under original ownership, and benefits from a recent major service to ensure it is ready to be driven and enjoyed by its new owner. 1996 Ferrari F512 M ISSIMI, Inc If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 1

With a known history from day one, this particular Sierra Cosworth, ‘D64 XVX’, arrived with Aston Martin Tickford Limited on the 22nd April 1987 and left as a fully fledged RS500 on the 23 June 1987, believed to be the 13th produced, prior to being immediately road registered by its first custodian/keeper, the Ford Motor Company of Eagle Way in Brentford. It remained with Ford for the following twelve months and was pressed into service as a press/promotional vehicle illustrated by its appearance in What Car magazine (September 1987) within an article entitled ‘Ford’s 500’, a copy of which will accompany the vehicle. Once duties with Ford were completed, the Sierra changed hands arriving with its second and current owner on the first of June 1988. His intention was to use the car for promotional purposes once again, however, after some twelve months, work commitments dictated a move abroad and the RS500 was placed into storage, on stands, with wheels removed and covers in place, and there it has remained until this very day. Within the knowledgeable RS500 community, the car was thought to have disappeared many years ago although a number of attempts to trace it were made over the years without success. With the upsurge in interest in these rare cars, the decision was recently made by our vendor to find a new custodian for the increasingly desirable 80s homologation special, with it seeing light of day for the very first time since being interred all those years ago. With wheels refitted and covers removed, the Sierra rolled freely out of the garage to facilitate the photo shoot which accompanies this listing with the condition externally and internally being exceptional with no obvious deterioration. It is simply quite remarkable and should be considered as a 'benchmark' example with an incredibly low and warranted 12,530 miles from new. After much consideration, the decision has been made to offer D64 XVX exactly as it rolled out of storage after 32 years with no attempt being made to start, run or enhance the vehicle in any way so it should be noted that, if the new owner’s intention is to put the Sierra back on the road, a full recommissioning will be required. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the opportunity on offer. 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1965 Shelby Cobra 289

Of all the great 1960s sports cars, few are as influential or as infamous as the legendary Shelby Cobra. A fortunate partnership between AC and their lightweight British sports car and Le Mans-winning driver Carroll Shelby resulted in the latest Ford lightweight V-8 sitting in the European fettled chassis of the Ace. The result of this transplant contributed enormously to Ford’s motorsport dominance of International Sports Car racing during the late 1960s. European chassis dynamics partnered with the power of the new V-8 meant that in competition trim, Cobras achieved an impressive record. The 260ci (4.2-litre) prototype first ran in January 1962, with production commencing later that year. Exclusively for the USA initially, Cobras - minus engines - were sent from England to be finished off by Shelby in California, and it was not until late in 1963 that AC Cars in Thames Ditton got around to building the first fully finished cars to European specification. After 75 cars had been built, the 289ci (4.7-litre) unit was standardised in 1963. Rack-and-pinion steering was the next major up-date; then in 1965 a new, stronger, coil-suspended chassis was introduced to accommodate Ford's 427ci (7.0-litre) V8, an engine that in race trim was capable of producing well in excess of 400bhp. Wider bodywork, extended wheelarch flares and a bigger radiator intake combined to create the definitive - and much copied - Cobra 427 look. This 1965 specification Shelby Cobra 289 was built by UK racing Cobra specialist Steve Gilbey, clearly using only the very best components available with no expense spared. Equipped with latest and highly competitive FIA specification 289 Cobra race engine built by Steve Warrior. The power is driven to the rear wheels by an equally capable competition T10 gearbox by another UK based Cobra specialist, Gary Spencer, who is also responsible for the high-quality uprights, hubs, sub axles and leaf springs fitted on the car. At the corners of the car, the wheels and brakes were supplied by Crosswaite & Gardener, who were additionally responsible for the diff casing. Presenting in the attractive specification of Blu Genziana metallic (a Ferrari colour), complimented by the centre white stripes, the paintwork was entirely bespoke, costing over £10k and was completed by Normadale. It’s not just the specification that was adapted to mirror this period example, in fact, a further £25k was spent with Lawrence Kett of GA Fabrications on bespoke bodywork modifications to mirror the exact specification of the Willment Racing Team 1964 Goodwood Tourist Trophy entry, even including the Le Mans hardtop. The chassis and aluminium bodywork were provided by Kirkham. Inside of the car, the interior is complimented by a gorgeous blue corduroy fabric in the centre of the lightweight Tillet racing seats (driver & passenger) and blue leatherette on the remainder of the seat. Also equipped is of course the roll cage, built by Andy Robinson, and additionally is equipped with VBOX Video HD2, Monit G200 GPS rally computer and Stilo DG-10 noise cancelling intercom system making the car ready for rallies such as the Tour Auto and Modena Cento Ore. The specification list is remarkable and going to the fine details such an aircraft quality wiring loom, by Adrian Butt, shows just how much care was taken into the build of this car. The build was finished in April of 2021 and since then has only seen 6.5 hours of test running. The additional spares complimenting the car is as follows; oil cooler, clutch kit, drive shaft, 4x wheels fitted with tyres, brake ducts, and both silenced and unsilenced systems by ELWELD. Presenting on the button with fresh HTP papers, valid until 31.12.2033, this stunning creation of the ever-famous Cobra is ready to be enjoyed on the track by its next custodian and is physically available to view by appointment here at our showrooms just outside of London. 1965 Shelby Cobra 289 D.K. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright Of all the great 1960s sports cars, few are as influential or as infamous as the legendary Shelby Cobra.
