- 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda
Finding a Pagoda equipped with the optional 5 speed ZF gearbox from new is exceedingly rare, - most probably only 100 examples of the 230 SL were thus delivered. Our example in “Oriental red” with a beige leather interior was delivered in Switzerland and 1st registered in May 1966. Still with its matching-numbers engine, the Mercedes is in technically good condition and recently a new exhaust has been fitted. Restored most probably some years ago, the interior is in very good condition. The coachwork presents itself in good condition, but the paint could use a bit of TLC. We now offer a rare chance to acquire a very rare Pagoda with a 5-speed manual gearbox and seating for three. Certainly a car which will make a worthy addition to any Mercedes collection. The last Veteran MOT was completed in May 2016. For a Swiss buyer, the SL will be MOT’d after the sale. 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1950 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport
Upon resuming automobile production after World War II, Alfa Romeo continued with the latest development in its prewar lineup, the 6C 2500. Introduced in 1939, the model featured an increased engine displacement of nearly 2.5 liters, and the Super Sport iteration rode a shortened 2,700-milimeter wheelbase chassis while being equipped with a triple-carbureted intake. Standard coachwork for these desirable sport saloons was built by Touring with the coachbuilder’s signature lightweight Superleggera technique of welding an aluminum body to a small-diameter tube-frame. Widely regarded as one of the most advanced mechanical platforms of the immediate post-war era, the 6C 2500 has evolved into one of Alfa Romeo’s most collectable vintage models, deftly combining performance, style, and luxury. This exquisite Alfa Romeo is offered on the heels of a comprehensive no-cost-spared restoration in Italy that has resulted in one of the most stirring examples to be seen in many years. While the data of Luigi Fusi and Tito Anselmi indicates that chassis number 915668 was built in 1948, a 1989 letter from Alfa Romeo’s Centro Documentazione department states the car completed assembly in December 1949, finished in Light Green paint. Given the car’s current configuration, it is reasonable to assume that it was factory-equipped with the Nardi conversion option, including a three-spoke Nardi steering wheel and floor shifter (rather than the standard column shifter). In April 1950 the Alfa Romeo was sold to its first owner, Gino Rossato of Vicenza, Italy, and within three years the 6C passed to Jack Worseldine, a US naval officer stationed in Naples. Upon his return to the United States Mr. Worseldine exported the car to America in October 1958, and he soon registered it in his native state of Iowa. In September 1960 the 6C 2500 was purchased by Charles Leininger of Mission, Kansas, and two years later he sold the car to Walter Deitchmann of Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Deitchmann impressively retained possession for 27 years before selling the Alfa Romeo in May 1989 to respected collector Tom Congleton of Paradise Valley, Arizona, who immediately commenced a nut-and-bolt restoration. Entrusted to Steve Gundler Restorations and Carriage Motor Works (both located in Kansas), this fine work included a refinishing of the coachwork in rosso. After completion of the restoration Mr. Congleton enjoyed the car at various events, notably presenting it at the 1992 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and the 1998 Concorso Italiano. The 6C 2500 also won several awards at meetings of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, and it was featured on the cover of the club’s magazine for three different issues. In May 2002 Mr. Congleton sold the Alfa Romeo to the consignor, a knowledgeable 6C 2500 enthusiast who owns three other examples. The new owner initially continued presenting the Super Sport at AROC events and local shows, including two appearances at the Tutto Italiano at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, Massachusetts (the car notably won Best of Show at the 2008 event). In 2012, with a dream of crafting the most finely restored example in imagination, the consignor opted to conduct a full restoration for which he commissioned the renowned specialists at Bonfanti Garage in Bassano Del Grappa, Italy. The engine and running gear were comprehensively rebuilt, while the coachwork was refinished in the original shade of light green, and the interior was reupholstered with original-style boar hides. Numerous proper components were sourced and installed, including the Carrello headlamps, Bosch “browed” driving lights, and the rare Autovox radio. Taking over seven years to complete, the painstaking refurbishment cost over $500,000 as reflected by invoices on file, leaving the car in an incredibly pristine and authentic condition. The fabulous restoration has yet to be displayed on a concours field, leaving that pleasure to the future caretaker. Documented with period correspondence from Alfa Romeo’s Centro Documentazione, prior titles and bills of sale, an entry from John De Boer’s Italian Car Registry, and dozens of restoration photos and invoices, this breathtaking Alfa Romeo is undoubtedly one of the finest restored examples of the model one might ever hope to encounter. It is ideal for enjoyment on the open road or the concours field, sure to capture the heart of any marque enthusiast. 1950 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1995-ferrari-f355-gts
This 1995 Ferrari F355 is a European-market GTS that spent time in Germany and Sweden before it was acquired and imported to the US by the selling dealer in 2024, and it is powered by a 3.5-liter DOHC V8 linked with a six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Finished in Rosso Corsa over black Connolly leather, the car is equipped with a gated shifter, a Tubi Style exhaust header, a removable black targa top, 18? five-spoke magnesium wheels, pop-up headlights, aftermarket carbon-fiber interior trim, and a Sony CD stereo. An engine-out timing belt service was performed in 2023. This F355 GTS shows 111k kilometers (~69k miles) and is now offered by the selling dealer in California with Swedish-language service records, import documents, a tool kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Montana title. The Pininfarina-designed body is finished in Rossa Corsa, and styling incorporates a removable black roof panel as well as pop-up headlights, integrated front fog lights, flying buttress C-pillars, an integrated rear decklid spoiler, quad exhaust outlets, a vented engine cover, and air intakes on the doors and rocker panels. An aftermarket rear diffuser has been added, and the right mirror glass was replaced in July 2023. There is a dent on the left C-pillar, delamination is noted at the lower-right corner of the windshield, lines of discoloration are visible on the left door mirror, and license plate bracket holes are noted on the front bumper cover. The 18? five-spoke magnesium wheels are mounted with staggered-width Kumho Ecsta PS91 tires. Ferrari-branded brake calipers are mounted over ventilated discs at each corner. The left-rear brake hose, caliper, and wheel bearing were replaced in 2019, and work in 2023 included replacing assorted handbrake components and the shock absorbers. The cabin features sport seats trimmed in black Connolly leather, and matching leather extends to the center console, door panel inserts, and lower half of the dashboard. Carbon-fiber trim has been added to the door panels and stereo surround, and additional appointments include a gated shifter, automatic climate control, a Sony CD stereo, and drilled aluminum pedals. There are blemishes on the center console trim, wear is noted on the outer left seat bolster, and additional photos of the interior condition are shown in the gallery. A leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 320-km/h speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. Ancillary instruments in the center stack include an analog clock and gauges for fuel level and oil temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 111k kilometers (~69k miles), fewer than 500 kilometers of which were added under current ownership. The mid-mounted 3.5-liter DOHC V8 features five valves per cylinder and dry-sump lubrication for a factory-rated output of 375 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. An engine-out belt service was performed and an oil pan leak was addressed in 2023 by EB Auto AB in Uppsala, Sweden, and detailed invoices for the work are viewable in the gallery. The car has not been inspected by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair or Air Resources Board, and it cannot be sold to an in-state private party buyer. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The clutch hose was replaced, and a Tubi Style stainless-steel exhaust header was fitted in 2023. A tool kit and service records are included in the sale along with import documents. Out of gallery 1995 Ferrari F355 GTS Mohr Imports, Inc. - 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce
Come the early 1950s, Alfa Romeo sought to expand its model range yet the assembly line at its Portello facility had limited room to grow. That led the marque to canvas the availability of external coachbuilders. Of the three that presented their concept, Bertone won the contract. Little wonder, given Franco Scaglione had designed a beautiful, aerodynamic, compact-yet-sporting car that would be christened the Giulietta Sprint. The model proved an instant hit upon its world unveiling at the 1954 Turin Salon, so much so that Alfa Romeo had to quickly increase production. The super-advanced 1.3-litre, alloy, twin-cam engine—which would remain in production for the next four decades—was penned by ex-Ferrari engineer Giuseppe Busso. For the advent of the more sporting Veloce model two years later, the rev-happy unit’s power was increased, while weight was cut by some 100 kilograms to leave the already lithe car to tip the scales at a featherweight 780 kilograms. Equipped with independent suspension, a responsive chassis, and excellent brakes, Alfa Romeo and Bertone had created a stylish and rewarding car for the discerning enthusiast. It would remain on sale for 12 years, with 3,058 of the 132,000 or so built leaving the factory in Veloce form. For the facelifted, second series of the Veloce, power climbed to 97 brake horsepower to improve the driving experience even further. So much so, the model would come to tempt 1979 Formula 1 World Champion Jody Scheckter, the owner of this right-hand-drive car, who grew up around similar examples as his father was a successful Alfa Romeo dealer. Chassis ARE159022, stamped “E” by Bertone in deference to it being a Veloce edition, holds a 1 July 1961 production date, according to the factory-issued Certificate of Origin. It was then exported to Scheckter’s native South Africa on 21 November. Originally finished in the classic Rosso Alfa hue, this car was at some point repainted to burgundy before it was fully restored by Dennis McCallum, a childhood friend of Scheckter, of Vincent, South Africa. The work believed to have been carried out in 2016, this Giulietta Sprint Veloce was returned to its factory colour, while the seats were reupholstered in complementary two-tone red and white. The Alfa Romeo is accompanied by a spare wheel and battery charger. Offered for sale direct from a Formula 1 World Champion, this charming Giulietta Sprint Veloce would be a worthy addition to any Alfa Romeo or Bertone-themed collection while still promising to be a thoroughly entertaining companion on more exciting roads. 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1977-porsche-930-turbo-1
Highlights for this car 40 years of current California ownership One of 727 US delivery 1977 model year 930s delivered A very original example with recent mechanical work including new fuel pumps General History The Porsche 930 Turbo was a performance revelation when it debuted in the 1970s. From the day it was offered through decades of iterations, the 930 has continued to prevail as an icon of performance supremacy to millions of performance enthusiasts throughout the world. Without unwarranted hype, the 930 revealed earth-shattering performance figures across all measured standards. After unprecedented success pioneering turbochargers in the 917 Can Am and 911-based sports cars, Porsche took the bold step of developing a reliable and capable turbocharged road car. Porsche's previous high performance 911, the Carrera RS was a raw and elemental homologated race car adapted for the road, the 930 was designed to be a proper flagship: a luxurious and refined car meant to effortlessly cover great distances at high speed. Contemporary press gushed about the 930s effortless ability to gain speed with deceptive composure, a joyful if not blisteringly fast surprise for those who had yet to experience the power and afterburner snap of a turbocharged car. The 930 immediately became the surprise supercar of the decade, brimming with wide fenders, rear spoiler, and hunkered down racing stance, the 930 put Porsche in a different category than it had previously occupied. In the eyes of exotic performance car enthusiasts a new contender had arrived, one that would dominate and ultimately alter the course of every future Porsche offering. General Overview This Porsche 930 was purchased by the current owner in July 1985 and has remained in his care, residing in southern California, as documented by the clean California “pink slip” issued in 1985. Finished in the desirable and attractive original color combination of Ice Green metallic with cork leather interior, this Porsche is one of 727 J-Series USA version 930s delivered in 1977. Delivered with a factory sunroof, headlight washers, rear window wiper, and Fuchs staggered width wheels, the chassis number indicates this car to be one of the earliest production cars built for the 1977 model year, further supported by the August 1976 build date stamped on the original door tag. Currently indicating 158,000 miles on the six-digit VDO speedometer, the long-term owner logged the majority of these miles commuting to his Santa Monica, CA office. General service and maintenance have been regular until more recent years as the owner aged out of driving and gradually reduced his regular use of the car. Approximately 12 years ago, the owner had the car professionally repainted for cosmetic improvement and more recently the engine and gearbox were removed, the top end of the engine was comprehensively rebuilt by German Motors, Santa Monica, CA, the clutch serviced, and all fluids and systems checked. In July 2022, the car returned to German Motors for a full-service including oil and filter change, valve adjustment, new valve cover gaskets, front and rear brake caliper rebuild (all four), new brake pads, new brake rotors, and replacement for the rear sway bar link bushings. Throughout the past 40 years of ownership, the owner had thoughtfully collected records and service invoices on the car. While living in the Pacific Palisades, the owner was fortunate to be able to evacuate the 2025 fire, relocate most of his belongings, and bring the car to a safe location. However, at this time, the owner has unfortunately not been able to recover the service records. In preparation for sale, this Porsche has been serviced by Eason Autoworks, Oakland, CA, including the replacement of both fuel pumps. General Condition Today, this Porsche 930 offers clean and correct driver level finishes as maintained under long-term California ownership. The car was repainted in the original Ice Green Metallic to very good standards approximately 12 years ago and has benefited from ongoing indoor storage and minimal accumulated miles in recent years. The finish is very nice overall with smooth gloss, correct microflake metallic, and consistent coverage across all body panels. Though not the original paint, all metal body panels have been metered with a digital paint meter, returning low two-digit numbers indicative of respray only. The steel body panels are straight and solid with good fit and operation. The trim and badges are in very nice condition, as are the lighting and glass. The side and rear glass retain the correct Sekurit brand etches indicative of factory original glass. The rubber trim is in very good condition including the correct Porsche accordion bumper ends and the embossed rear wing rubber which is in excellent condition. A correct set of Fuchs wheels are mounted featuring polished aluminum rims and black centers. A mixed set of Pirelli P5000 205/55 R16 front and Continental ContiSport Contact 225/50 R16 rear tires are mounted. The original cork leather interior is in good original condition displaying what appears to be the original finishes and components that have been maintained by the current long-term owner. The leather seating surfaces on the front seats are supple, with minimal wear, though typical bolster wear is evident on the driver’s left bolster and some lower seat foam has softened to create more of a seat bucket pocket. The carpets are original and in generally good condition as are the rear seating surfaces and carpeted seatbacks which create a convenient storage shelf when folded into the down position. The dashboard, door panels, and door caps are similarly nice and the black accent materials, steering wheel, and shifter are all in very good to excellent condition. A modern Kenwood AM/FM CD stereo has been installed in the dash. The VDO gauges are clear and contrasting with excellent black trim rings, crisp numeric indication, and orange needles. The switches are correct and in very good condition and the sunroof operates smoothly fore and aft. The engine compartment is original and unmodified. Having benefited from recent professional engine work, the cosmetics have not been restored, though the overall condition is sound and representative of a rarely seen original example. Although the major air conditioning components remain in place, the system is currently not blowing cold air. Overall, the engine and engine compartment remain undisturbed and unmodified, a particular delight given this early series 930. The front storage area is also original showing some aging to the otherwise original finishes but revealing sound structural elements beneath the carpeting. The date coded original spare tire is included. The underside of the car is sound and presentable showing no visual evidence of damage or structural repair to the pan, rocker panels, or suspension mounting points. The car starts, runs, and drives well, responding as one might expect from a car that has been consistently well-maintained and driven with pride. Aside from a bit of patience required when cold starting, the engine pops to life and the clutch engages easily for smooth first gear takeoff. Once underway, the gearbox operates with good synchromesh and linkage. The steering is responsive and the braking quite good coming down from highway speeds on a firm and tall pedal. Overall, the driving experience is sound and responsive, offering a reminder of how enjoyable these cars can be once a driver respects the race-bred capability and ferocity evolved from years of Porsche racing. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a very drivable and presentable 930. Finished in its original color combination, this Porsche 930 is offered with an owner’s manual, tool roll and tools, a set of matching floor mats (turbo embroidered on front set), and a spare accessory belt. 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo Fantasy Junction If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1977 Chevrolet Corvette IMSA Supervette
With big-block power, visually striking bodywork and with the performance characteristics (and noise) of a rocket ship, IMSA Corvettes were some of the loudest, brash and powerful cars to ever run in the series. This Greenwood “Supervette”, driven by the now infamous John Paul Sr. (JLP Racing), is one of two tube-frame chassis ever built, and was one of the fastest cars in IMSA and a constant threat to its competition. Fully restored by Canepa to its 1978 IMSA specifications, this aluminum big-block tube-frame bruiser designed and built by the pre-Protofab team is the ultimate expression of an IMSA Corvette. In 1976, the IMSA sanctioning body changed the rules of road racing to allow full tube frame cars to compete in the premier North American Road Racing series. John Greenwood saw a major opportunity to design and build the next generation of racing Corvettes. Designer Bob Riley would engineer the first Greenwood tube frame Corvette, built and entered into competition for the first time in 1977. This Corvette, COV002, is the second and final chassis ever created, designed by Riley and built by the team that would become Protofab. These tube-frame monsters were no ordinarily-built race cars. The Riley-designed cages and chassis were quite innovative, calling for large and expensive 2” chrome-moly tubing, using extensive triangulation for extreme strength. Chrome-moly, though expensive, is both lighter and stronger than mild steel, which paid major dividends with the completed design. The result was extremely strong and rigid frames that were built to tank-like strength. With several seasons of racing a Porsche Carrera RSR now under John Paul Sr.’s belt, he was looking to upgrade in a major way and a mega horsepower tube-frame Corvette by Greenwood fit his bill. During the off season between 1977 and 1978, John Paul bought the second tube frame Corvette from the Protofab team after talking with John Greenwood about the potential of the Corvette package. Shortly afterwards, JLP Racing picked up the Riley-designed chassis in Michigan and assembled the car in Lawrenceville, Georgia were JLP Racing housed its home base. In an effort to reduce drag and increase top speed, the design of 002 was changed from the first car and was built with a narrower track and more aerodynamic bodywork, created by John Greenwood’s team. John Paul’s Corvette was prepped in his own shop and didn’t use the Greenwood powerplants. Instead, he used the big-block all aluminum engines from one of the most recognizable names from Can-Am racing and in power numbers, Don Nichols of Shadow Racing. These bullet-proof aluminum big blocks, left over from the Can-Am days, were built by Lee Muir and reportedly had over 800lb/ft of torque on Shadow’s engine dynos. Armed with Kinsler mechanical fuel injection, the all-aluminum V8 engine was a horsepower monster, extremely capable and often pushing above the 750+ figure. This extra bit of power along with an extremely capable chassis made this Corvette a constant threat to the other competition on the track. John Paul drove the car in the 1978 IMSA season, the first race being Road Atlanta, competing for overall wins in the premier GTX category. Ongoing research and development were constantly being performed due to the Porsche 935s dominance at the time and the target to beat. John Paul had his best finish with 2nd overall at Hallett. At the end of the 1978 season, JLP retired the Greenwood Supervette after a reasonably successful season of racing with 2 podiums and three top 5 finishes. John sold the car to Tico Almeida and Rene Rodriguez of T&D Racing, who would race the car together once in 1980. The car appeared in the 1981 Daytona 24 Hours with John Greenwood as the driver, but bad luck would strike and an engine failure ended its ’81 24 Hours. The 1982 IMSA season produced strong results for the John Greenwood/T&R Racing team. The car ran as #13 with the updated GTO body style the entire season in IMSA’s GTO class with impressive results. However, Porsche competition was fierce and the team retired the car at the end of the 1982 IMSA season. This Corvette would find its way through a few collectors before arriving at Canepa. Originally purchased for Canepa’s inventory, the decision was made to fully restore the car to its former and proper JLP Racing livery. With the decision to restore the Corvette to IMSA-spec of 1978, the concours-level restoration began on one of the most unique racing Corvettes to ever grace the IMSA series. The blue fiberglass bodywork was carefully removed and stored away while the majority of the mechanical work was underway. Each and every component was removed from the chrome-moly chassis, labeling and cataloging each item down to the last nut and bolt. Parts needing replating were sent out, pieces needing new paint were addressed and mechanical components needing replacing were fabricated to the highest degree. All mechanical systems were either rebuilt, refinished or replaced to be in better-than-new condition. The all-aluminum 500 cubic inch V8 engine was sent down to Ed Pink Racing Engines where it was completely rebuilt to eke out every horsepower from the former Can-Am era powerplant. Suspension and brake systems were disassembled, crack checked, x-rayed, refinished and brought back to the IMSA-spec of 1978. Unique to this Corvette are the magnesium brake calipers, borrowed from the Porsche 935 in period. New aluminum panels for the chassis were fabricated and powder coated black. With this concours-level restoration, nothing was left untouched. With the tube-frame chassis now stripped down of all its parts, the entire chassis and body work were then stripped of their remaining paint. Canepa thoroughly addressed any parts of the chassis and body work that needed attention before heading to the body shop. Countless hours were spent on sanding and prepping the chrome-moly tubing for its signature grey metallic paint, which is stunning to see in person. The long and swooping blue body work received the same thoughtful treatment with new bright baby blue paint. The hood and rear wing, the most standout features of the car, were painted bright JLP Racing yellow. Once the frame and body were finished, Canepa’s Motorsport division went to work on reassembling the IMSA Corvette. Over the course of many months, the baby blue IMSA racer began to take shape. With components slowly reinstalled, the car began to take on its original form and return to its former 1978 glory. With all components now assembled onto the car, the final fitment of the bodywork gives the Corvette it’s menacing stance, hiding the trick chassis underneath the sculpted fiberglass body. This 1977 Chevrolet Corvette, with its astoundingly-innovative chrome-moly chassis, Can-Am era powerplant, driven by JLP’s own John Paul to success in the 1978 season and fully restored to the exacting standards of Canepa, is now the must-have Corvette from the 70’s IMSA era. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright With big-block power, visually striking bodywork and with the performance characteristics (and noise) of a rocket ship, IMSA Corvettes were some of the loudest, brash and powerful cars to ever run in the series.
