Year 1969

1969 AC 428 Frua is one of approximately 51 coupes manufactured with coachwork by Frua during seven years of production. 1 of only 3 original left-hand drive cars delivered new in the US! Longtime ownership in a collection before being purchased by its last owner who subsequently had it recommissioned. Finished in silver with a black interior the car is powered by a 428Ci Ford V8 mated to a C6 automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Independent suspension with four wheel disc brakes, wire wheels, power windows, horseshoe shifter…and the more desirable first series dashboard! Designed as a successor to the AC Cobra, the Frua-bodied AC 428 was first introduced in prototype form at the 1965 Earls Court Motor Show before a production convertible debuted a year later, followed shortly after a fastback coupe variant. Construction incorporated a derivative of the Mark III Cobra chassis with its wheelbase stretched with 6” that was sent to Turin Italy to be fitted with coachwork before returning to England for the installation of a 428Ci Ford powerplant! Most examples were configurated in right-hand drive, with approximately a dozen in left-hand drive! Fantastic and ultra rare British GT with Italian design combined with US power!!!
