Factory finish of deep Rosso Arcoveggio over Black leather; presents in bright red

Built in June 1968 ahead of delivery to Modena; subsequent ownership in Piacenza

Acquired by the vendor in 2014, joining a collection of 1960s and 1970s Maseratis

Supported by Italian libretto registration documentation and estratto cronologico

A rival to the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta in both looks and the way it drove, the original Maserati Ghibli remained in production between 1967 and 1973. During that time, approximately only 745 examples of the 4.7-litre V-8 Coupé were produced. Factory data confirms that this example was completed on 18 June 1968. Wearing the deep red shade of Rosso Arcoveggio over a Black leather interior, it was delivered new to Modena. Italian libretto documents and an estratto cronologico on file show that the Ghibli remained relatively local in the early part of its life. From 1970, it was registered to Mr Guglielmo Rustiont in the nearby city of Piacenza. Purchased in 2014 by the Austria-based vendor, a collector of this era of Maseratis, the Ghibli presents in a brighter shade of red over what is thought to be the original Black interior. It now awaits a new enthusiastic custodian.
