- 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 1
The Jaguar E-type Series 3 OTS. A car from the time when smoking was still healthy, television had only one channel and most importantly; the time when driving was still really driving, without aids or sensation-enhancing trickery! The E-type was introduced in Europe on 15 March 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show and in the United States in April of the same year at the New York Motor Show. When the car was first shown, Enzo Ferrari called it 'The most beautiful car ever made'. He is right to this day! Our E-type is from the last generation, the Series 3. The Series 3 was introduced in 1971. The most notable change was the brutal 5.3 liter V12 engine block. Because it was such a heavy block, power steering also became standard. Furthermore, the wheel arches were slightly flared and the grille became slightly larger, to cool the muscular black cat. With the four wide exhaust tips that roar and growl when the Jaguar is started, you can't help but get in with a big smile every time as an enthusiast. This is pure passion in its purest form. Recently fully restored down to the smallest detail and driven in for you over a distance of 1,000 miles. Which in automotive terms means that she has just passed her test drive license. This beauty comes from the collection of a collector with a preference for the finer things in life and an exceptionally sharp eye for detail. This is also the right reason that she is equipped with a 5-speed Getrag gearbox, which makes long journeys on the highway a lot more pleasant without the engine having to scream like an opera singer in the revs. Step into the interior, an oasis of luxury with calfskin upholstery and dark piping - every detail has been chosen with love. This car is ideal for long journeys and perfect to take on holiday. Many smiles per liter guaranteed!! 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 Cool Classic Club If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1996-ford-escort-rs-cosworth-lux
The Escort RS Cosworth was an 'homologation special' and its sole role was to incorporate parts that Ford planned to use in their rally cars to ensure success in International Rallying. Because it was smaller, lighter and more nimble than any of the Sierras, the combination of Cosworth power, four-wheel drive transmission and an effective aerodynamic package made it a Rally Giant in all conditions. Success duly followed between 1993 and 1998 in the World Rally Championship for manufacturers, but the road cars were very rare - with just 2,500 'homologation special' versions made, becoming known as 'big turbo cars', all capable of 150mph and easily identified by the aptly-named 'Whale Tail' rear spoiler. On offer here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive example finished in Imperial Blue and specified from new with the 'Lux' pack, adding Recaro seats finished in the more expensive perforated Raven leather, Sigma central-locking, an electric sunroof, electric windows, drivers seat height adjustment, tape player, CD player and more. The odometer, at the time of cataloguing, was indicating just 22,744 miles from new and the accompanying V5C shows that the car was first registered on the 23rd February 1996 and displays only one former keeper. The Escort benefits from a recommission by marque expert, Grahame Goode, in 2022 following years off the road in storage. Over £6,000 was spent at the time including attention to the brakes, fuel tank, driveshafts, new tyres, and a service, all fully detailed in the car's history file, which we encourage all interested parties to go through. The original Dealers Book Pack is also included in the history file along with the stamped service book, sundry invoices showing investment over the years, previous MOTs, and the Cosworth is also supplied with both sets of keys. This is very good Ford in every respect, with just a single previous recorded owner and a low but useable mileage, ensuring it can still be 'exercised' on the right days, reminding its lucky owner just how well they perform and why they have become so sought after. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright The Escort RS Cosworth was an 'homologation special' and its sole role was to incorporate parts that Ford planned to use in their rally cars to ensure success in International Rallying. - 1989 Aston Martin V8 Vantage
In 1986 Aston Martin introduced the ultimate development of the legendary V8 Vantage. It included some cosmetic improvements, amongst other (specifically designed for the Vantage), 16-inch Ronal rims and the cars, which were renamed Series 3, are known these days as X-Pack. For most markets, the large coupé was equipped with the well-known 5.3 litre V8 four Weber carburettors and 405 horsepower, but for certain export markets like the USA and Japan, based on more stringent local emission regulations, the engine was converted to fuel injection resulting in a reduced output of 268 horsepower. Only 36 examples of the expensive Vantage, costing more than 300’000 Swiss francs, were built with left hand drive and of those only six cars were equipped with the V585 electronic fuel injection engine specs – called Cosmetic Vantage. Our Aston, # 2682, in “Cumberland Grey” with a black leather interior and automatic gearbox, was delivered to Japan and first registered in Osaka on the 22nd of December 1989. After four Japanese owners and around 60’000 kilometres driven, the Aston was acquired by the vendor in October 2015 and imported into Switzerland via the USA. After arrival in February 2016, the car received a major makeover for 20’000 Swiss francs, then was adapted to Swiss norms and finally MOT’d in June of the same year. In the following years the Vantage was driven sparingly but, as can be seen in the receipts available, regularly maintained amongst others by Roos Engineering. With now 63’200 kilometres on the clock, the noble coupé is in very good and well-maintained original condition and will certainly appeal to James Bond aficionados with its colour combination from “The living daylight” and “No time to die”. The last veteran MOT was completed in March 2021. 1989 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The Opel GT was manufactured between 1968 and 1973. The majority of the vehicles produced were delivered to the USA. The Opel GT was initially built in the GT 1100 and GT 1900 variants. The more powerful version with 90 hp and a top speed of almost 190 km/h was particularly sought-after. The GT model was the dream of an entire generation of motorists. The sporty lines and folding headlights made the vehicle a style icon even back then. Opel advertised provocatively in the 1970s with the title ‘Only flying is more beautiful’ and received a great deal of applause from the trade press. The Opel GT presented here impresses with its exceptionally well-preserved originality. The body substance is sensationally well-kept and the paintwork is still original throughout. A few years ago, the car returned to Germany from Switzerland and was part of a high-calibre collection in the Stuttgart area for many years. - 1955 Lotus MK9 EX Sebring 12H
Behind the wheel of this Lotus Mark 9, sitting low to the ground and gazing at the long hood through the Plexiglas screen, it's impossible not to conjure up images of vintage racing. Offered for sale, this Lotus Mark 9 is one of 30 cars built. Having taken part in every edition of Le Mans Classic and numerous races in the 60's and 50's, it is eligible for Goodwood - and is one of only two Lotus models eligible for the Mille Miglia. Small, light, durable and capable of superb performance, it's a top choice for all these events. Colin Chapman, brilliant young engineer and founder of Lotus, was already making a name for himself when he presented his Mark 9 in early 1955, the first two cars being ready to race at the Sebring 12 Hours in March. This was the first Lotus to be offered as a fully-built car, previous models being sold only as kits, and in its sales literature the company described the "Lotus system" of providing "two types of chassis, on which different engines could be mounted". These two chassis types were the Mark 6 and the Mark 9. The latter was advertised with Ford and MG engines, but most cars were sold with the Coventry Climax 1098 cm3 four-cylinder engine around which the Mark 9 had been designed. Front suspension was provided by swing axles with combination shock absorbers and coil springs, while the rear was fitted with a de Dion system with trailing arms and a Panhard bar. Braking was by magnesium drums, although discs were fitted on some cars, and a Ford steering box was used. The whole was clad in an aerodynamic wrap-around body designed by Frank Costin and manufactured by Williams & Pritchard. The car was praised for what Autosport described as its "exceptional cornering powers". When John Bolster tested one for the magazine, he achieved a top speed of almost 130 mph. Chapman and Ron Flockhart shared a Mark 9 at Le Mans in 1955, and "Auto Course" declared that because of the speed it displayed from relatively low power, the Lotus "can be described as the most efficient car in racing".It is thought that around 30 Mark 9s were built. Although only produced for a short time, it is considered by enthusiasts to be the link between the Mark 6 and the 11, and therefore occupies an important place in Lotus history. INTRODUCTION Two Lotus Mark Nines competed at the Sebring 12 Hour Sports Car race in 1955 – the first Lotus entry in a major international race outside UK. Race number 79 was driven by Frank Miller and George Rabe, and race number 78 by Norman Scott and “Sam” Samuelson. Because no relevant Lotus factory records survive from this time, the chassis numbers of the two Sebring cars are not known, and currently Historic Lotus Register refers to them as “Sebring 1” and “Sebring 2”. This note is primarily concerned with “Sebring 2”, the Scott/Samuelson car. The first owner of “Sebring 1” was Frank Miller of New York. The first owner of “Sebring 2” was Bobby Burns of Wichita Falls, Texas. MODEL HISTORY Following the success of the cycle-winged Lotus Mark Six in the early 1950’s, Lotus produced a derivative in 1954 with streamlined bodywork designed by de Havilland aerodynamicist Frank Costin. The car was designated Mark Eight. In 1954 Coventry Climax announced the availability of an 1100cc sports car engine, the FWA, based on their lightweight fire pump engine. One of the earliest of the FWA engines was fitted to a Lotus Mark Eight owned by Dick Steed, which first raced in September 1954. It was the first of many Coventry Climax engines to be fitted in a Lotus, but the installation in Dick Steed’s car was just a one-off. For the 1955 season Lotus designed a new car specifically to accept the new Coventry Climax engine, and this was the Lotus Mark Nine. The production Lotus Mark Nines had a multi-tubular chassis frame very similar to that of the 1954 Mark Eight, which was itself derived from the Mark Six chassis. The all-enveloping body, again designed by Frank Costin, was about 2 feet (610 mm) shorter than the Mark Eight’s. Front suspension was typical of Lotus at that time, with swing axles produced by cutting a Ford E93 beam axle in half and pivoting it in the middle. Rear suspension was de Dion, as on the Mark Eight, but this time using two long radius arms per side and a Panhard rod for location. Although a few cars had MG or Ford 10 engines, most of the 30 or so Mark Nines built had Coventry Climax FWA engines. Production Lotus Mark Nines had very large drum brakes, 11 inches (279 mm) diameter and 2.25 inches (57 mm) wide – enormous for a light 1100cc car. The brake drums were magnesium with cast-in steel liners. However it appears that there were early production problems with the brake drums (apparently with the bonding in of the steel liners), and the first two Mark Nines to be built – the two 1955 Sebring cars – had to be delivered with smaller Alfin brakes. The two Sebring cars were the only Mark Nines to have the smaller brakes, which were 9 inches (229 mm) diameter and 1.75 inches (44 mm) wide. There were also some chassis and bodywork differences from the later Mark Nines, which is not surprising since these two cars were effectively prototypes for the later cars. The differences make the two Sebring cars unique and easy to identify. It is interesting to note that when Autocar magazine described the Lotus Mark Nine (1st April 1955) the photographs which were used were of the Sebring cars. The two Sebring cars were delivered to their American owners, Frank Miller and Bobby Burns, in March 1955 (Autosport 18th March 1955, and Motor Racing April 1955). They seem to have had virtually no testing by Lotus before they were driven down to Southampton to be shipped to America. “SEBRING 2” (The writer is extremely grateful to Clark Lance, who owned “Sebring 2” for many years, for the history of the car whilst it was in America). The two Lotus Mark Nines at Sebring in 1955 were both vying for the lead in their class for the first part of the race. Then “Sebring 2”, whilst being driven by Samuelson, went off the track and cracked the sump on an obstruction in the grass. It seems that the driver had been blinded by the low evening sun. The result was that the car had to retire. (See Autosport, 25th March 1955 and Sports Car Illustrated, July 1955). There was a feature article about “Sebring 2” in Road & Track for June 1955, but it is thought that the photograph in the article of the car by the aircraft cargo door actually shows “Sebring 1”. After the Sebring race the car was raced in South West America by Norman Scott and owner Bobby Burns. Norman Scott was placed 1st in the Fairfax National races, Fairfax, Kansas on 5th September 1955. Bobby Burns was advertising the car for sale in Road & Track in November 1955 for $4,500. Ownership during 1956 is not known. “Sebring 2” was owned by Hamilton Presterbridge of Baton Rouge, Louisiana from late 1956 to late 1957. He competed with it at the Mansfield Louisiana National Races, 25th November 1956 and March 1957 (SCCA Sports Car Magazine January, May and July 1957). He advertised the car for sale in Road & Track, October 1957. Ownership from 1958 to 1960 is not known. Next recorded owner was Wendell Green of New Mexico. He and his son raced “Sebring 2” in Texas and California in 1961 and 1962. The current owner (Pierre Pinelli) has the 1962 New Mexico title to the car in the name of Wendell Green, and this quotes engine number 6258 which would be correct for an early 1955 Coventry Climax FWA. Wendell Green traded the car for an engineless Lotus Eleven from Chicago, Illinois in 1962. Between 1962 and about 1969 “Sebring 2” was reportedly owned by Tito Nappi of Rockford, Illinois. During this time it appears that a start was made on installing a Chevrolet V8. Don Kruzan of Rock Island, Illinois acquired the car (with V8) around 1969 in exchange for some Alfa Romeo parts. Clark Lance bought “Sebring 2” from Don Kruzan in 1971, and retained it in its largely original state until selling it to Pierre Pinelli of Nice in November 2002. “Sebring 2” was sent to Mike Brotherwood of Chippenham, England for restoration, arriving on 10th January 2003. The writer saw the car shortly afterwards at Mike Brotherwood’s premises, and it was clear that, thanks to the stewardship of Clark Lance, it had remained in remarkably original condition – a real “time warp” in fact – and the unique features shown in the 1st April 1955 Autocar photographs were there to be seen. Almost all of the original chassis and bodywork were used in the restoration; the chassis footwell cross tube had to be replaced after it had been cut about for the V8 installation and the undertray was replaced for the same reason. A new rear access hatch was also made. Otherwise the original parts were all re-used. Sold then to two French owners the car has participated many times in Le Mans Classic and Peter Auto races, sold by us to its last owner; we bought the car and engage it regularly in Le Mans Classic and in 50's by Peter Auto. "Sebring 2", is one of the most original Lotus Mark IX, ready to race and the first ever Lotus to enter an international race, made it eligible for the best world events. It will be delivered with a nice set of spare parts and a very nice historical file. ! 1955 Lotus MK9 EX Sebring 12H Historic Cars If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright Behind the wheel of this Lotus Mark 9, sitting low to the ground and gazing at the long hood through the Plexiglas screen, it's impossible not to conjure up images of vintage racing. ! Dunlop disc brakes on all four corners, light alloy component construction, and a host of additionally interesting technical features contributed to its success. Road and Track magazine described the car in 1967 as "a precision motorcar, an engineering tour de force." The chrome and various trim are all in good to very good condition, particularly the hard-to-find grille and chrome plated headlight bezels. The lenses, glass, and delicate Fulvia Sport hood script announce the Italian heritage and design excellence, while Zagato badges flank both front fenders. The desirable 5.5” Cromodora wheels are in excellent shape and add a period correct performance stance to the car, giving it just the right amount of rake. The color-contrasting interior is excellent overall. The clean black vinyl and wood dashboard are handsomely finished. The low-profile bucket seats are in excellent condition with good side bolsters and lower seat support. A small 1/8” hole is noted on the driver’s seat bottom bolster. The door panels, headliner, and wood dash trim are in very good condition. A properly housed clock and rare radio delete plate with Fulvia script finish the dashboard. The gauges and controls feature nice color and contrast, and excellent trim. The correct ribbed and fitted rubber floor mats are similarly nice as is the leather wrapped Lancia steering wheel. Lifting the rear hatch, the rear storage area is finished and trimmed with appropriate materials. Further, the rear hatch can be electronically raised and lowered from a dash switch, allowing cabin ventilation, a quintessentially Lancia feature that is both functional and clever. The engine compartment is honest and tidy, with generally correct finishes, original components, and properly sorted hardware. The engine is a correct type 303 1.3 series engine, although it is a later serial number than is generally associated with early S2 cars. The engine compartment appears largely original with correct presentation and good detailing. The engine is fitted with a correct set of Solex carburetors with an original air cleaner housing. - 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale HF Turbo 5 EVO
First seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1979, the Lancia Delta Integrale is best known for its domination of The World Rally Championship in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Constantly being developed, the first ‘Evoluzione' cars were built at the end of 1991 and carried on through 1992 and these 'Evoluzione' models were to be the final homologation cars built for the Lancia Rally Team competing under the Martini Racing banner. In the never-ending quest for better handling, the Evoluzione had a wider front and rear track than earlier Deltas and in order to squeeze this under the bodywork, the already wide wheel arches were extended even further and in the process also became more rounded. The 'new' Integrale retained the four-wheel-drive layout with an epicyclic centre diff and torque splitter, plus a Ferguson viscous coupling and Torsen rear differential. The engine, although technically the same as the earlier 16V cars, was remapped to give 210bhp at 5750rpm in order to compensate for the slight increase in weight and increased frontal area. These improvements were aimed at maximizing the potential of the car and it worked, with the developed car shaving over 5% off previous stage times on asphalt and gravel. This example of one of the most iconic and sought after cars of its era, is number 124 of the limited run of 400 cars built to celebrate the Integrale's fifth consecutive victory in the World Championship for Manufacturers. It's every inch, the 'poster car' and presents beautifully in the distinctive white livery of the famous Martini drinks company, Lancia's sponsors at the time, and the interior is trimmed in unmarked grey Alcantara with red stitching. Despite the competition livery, this Integrale is a road car, a road that it has only ever seen once when it was delivered by the supplying dealer to its first owner where it was in perfect storage conditions for its first 22 years. We purchased the car at auction in 2019 and it has been stored in a climate controlled collection since acquiring. The car has covered a distance of only 53 kilometers from new and is supplied with its original service book, manual, and tool kit. 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale HF Turbo 5 EVO Mouse Motors LLC If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright First seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1979, the Lancia Delta Integrale is best known for its domination of The World Rally Championship in the late 1980s and early 1990s. - 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Spider 1
Alfa Romeo entered into the postwar era with a new twin-cam, four-cylinder engine design, which was a configuration that would dominate the Italian automaker’s portfolio for decades to come. Initially arriving in Alfa Romeo’s Giulietta lineup in the mid-1950s, the twin-cam would go on to power the updated Giulia range and it would remain there until the early 1990s. Sporting elegant coachwork designed and built by Pininfarina, the 1.3-liter Giulietta Spider was a huge success and continued virtually unchanged in 1.6-liter Giulia guise when the latter joined the Alfa lineup in 1962. A hood scoop, necessary to clear the larger engine's taller block, easily identified the new model. The larger engine boosted maximum power of Alfa's venerable twin-cam four from 80 to 92 brake horsepower and the car's top speed to 109 mph. Reliability was likewise enhanced and the larger engine was noticeably smoother and less temperamental. The Spider offered here is recorded on its Museo Storico Alfa Romeo certificate as having been built on 29 November 1962 and delivered to New York the following January, finished in Rosso over Grigio interior. It was acquired by the late Terence E. Adderley in 2013, reportedly after 30 years of ownership by the seller, Andy Manganaro of Xenia, Ohio, a passionate enthusiast of Italian sports and racing cars of the era. It is still finished in the classic Italian shade of red, its original hue, with a black interior piped in red as a wonderful accent. While never fully restored, it was upgraded earlier in life to the more potent Veloce specifications with a 129-horsepower engine, delivering its power through a five-speed manual transmission. The engine itself was rebuilt for the prior owner in 1990 by well-known Alfista Jon Norman, with the receipt included in its file. Bearing a wonderful patina throughout, this would be an entertaining driver in the sun and surely much-appreciated at local cars-and-coffees. 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Spider RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
