- 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 by Scaglietti
There is perhaps no better archetype of a Ferrari model than the 275 GTB/4. As one of the last Prancing Horses manufactured in the vintage era, preceding the wholesale shift to mid-rear engine placement, the GTB/4 was the product of all the lessons learned since the company’s 1947 inception. Like the greatest Ferraris that preceded it, the model was defined as a grand touring berlinetta: a closed-body dual-use GT car that could be driven to the track and raced before being gently driven back home. Introduced in 1964, the original 275 GTB was the first roadgoing Ferrari to be equipped with four-wheel independent suspension, and the first to employ a weight-saving transaxle, which also improved weight distribution. When the GTB/4 iteration arrived two years later, it boasted dual-cam valve actuation for each cylinder bank, making it the first four-cam road car from Maranello’s stable. This prodigy of mechanical performance was clothed in coachwork designed by Pininfarina and built by racing car carrozzeria Scaglietti, featuring a long hood and fastback rear end that were obviously developed from the legendary 250 GTO. The prodigious GTB/4 soon became quite popular with the celebrity jet set, enjoying ownership by such luminaries as Miles Davis, Clint Eastwood, and the King of Cool, himself, Steve McQueen. After a 2014 test drive of the ex-McQueen car, the inimitable Top Gear wrote: “Deep in Ferrari’s DNA is a love of normal aspiration, a chemical and mechanical process best enjoyed across 12 cylinders. The 275’s 300 bhp might seem slightly ‘meh’ by modern standards, but I swear you can feel every single one of them saddling up and charging off. There’s no step or software manipulation here, just a smooth, linear, thrilling sense of flow. “The faster you go, the better it gets.” A 275 GTB/4 IN FRANCE Benefitting from 43 years of care by a handful of French owners, followed by a more recent round of restorative work by one of Italy’s most respected Ferrari specialists, this modestly driven 275 GTB/4 is undoubtedly one of the most striking examples to be encountered. According to the combined research of marque expert Marcel Massini and French motoring historian Marc Rabineau, chassis number 10427 was specified for the French market with instruments in kilometers and yellow headlamp lenses; and finished in Argento paint over a Nero leather interior, including full leather seats. Distributed through the official French importer Franco-Britannic Autos in Paris, the Ferrari was delivered in November 1967 to its first owner, a Parisian gentleman by the name of Chassedieu. Over the next 43 years, the 275 passed through a short chain of four additional French caretakers before being offered in July 2010. The GTB/4 was acquired then by a dedicated collector based in Greece, and he reportedly commissioned a cosmetic refinish in the current livery of midnight blue over cream, with Daniele Turrisi in Bergamo, Italy handling the coachwork restoration, while Tappezzeria Luppi in Modena was entrusted to reupholster the interior. Following this freshening the owner applied for certification by Ferrari Classiche, and in May 2012 a Red Book and corresponding Certificate of Authenticity were issued that confirm the continued presence of the matching-numbers chassis, engine, gearbox, and coachwork. Shortly thereafter the berlinetta was sold to the CEO of a premium Swiss watch manufacturer who undertook further restoration work by Garage Alberto Donati in Corseaux, Switzerland. In October 2013 the Ferrari was acquired by the Dare to Dream Collection. The car has continued to benefit from fastidious upkeep during its 11 years of stewardship, most notably undergoing service to the radiator, a conversion to electronic ignition, and the mounting of new Michelin XWX tires. In 2022 the GTB/4 was taken to Italy for enjoyment on a Ferrari 275 Tour through Tuscany, for which the car was serviced and prepared by the highly respected marque specialist Autofficina Bonini Carlo in Reggio Emilia. It should be noted that chassis number 10427 is a late 275 example that features the quintessential, and most highly-developed configuration—a long-nose, four-cam car equipped with the desirable vibration-free torque-tube drive shaft. Continuing to present beautifully in midnight blue over cream, and accompanied by manuals in their pouch and a reproduction tool roll, this 275 GTB/4 is ideally prepared for further touring enjoyment. Or, it may be presented at Ferrari gatherings and concours d’elegance, offering the most highly distilled essence of Maranello’s great berlinetta tradition. 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 by Scaglietti RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1977 Ferrari 512 BB
The 365 GT4 BB was the first mid-engined, 12-cylinder road car from the Maranello marque to wear a Ferrari badge. A rival to Lamborghini’s Countach, it lasted for three years before the 512 BB replacement arrived in 1976 with an enlarged 360 brake horsepower, carburettor-fed, 4,943-cc flat-12—related to the engine in Niki Lauda’s contemporary Formula 1 racer—that propelled the model to a 188 mph top speed. The first owner of chassis 20825 initially specified a 365 GT4 BB finished in Argento Auteuil, placing an order in January 1976. With the new model then announced at that year’s Paris Salon, the request was soon amended to a 512 BB in Verde Medio (a particularly rare colour with only five examples, including the later BBi) over a Beige Connolly leather interior. Completed on 7 February the following year, this notably early example of a 512 BB was delivered new to UK importer Maranello Concessionaires of Egham, Surrey, and distributed through the main dealer, Maltin Car Concessionaires of Henley, Oxfordshire. Of the 929-strong production run of 512 BBs, only 101 were configured in right-hand-drive. This car was registered on 19 March 1977 to Mr N F Boutros, who retained chassis 20825 for seven years. A second owner exported the car to New Zealand in the mid-1980s before a third keeper eventually moved it to Japan in 2004. A decade later, this 512 BB returned to the UK, having been purchased by the Ferrari Centre of Maidstone for a complete, three-year restoration. The consigning owner purchased chassis 20825 from the Ferrari Centre (later renamed Kent High Performance Cars) in July 2016, two months later gaining certification from Ferrari Classiche as the 512 BB was recognised for retaining its matching-numbers body, chassis, engine, and gearbox. Testament to its current finish in current Rosso over Pelle Beige, the car has won numerous concours awards. Most notably, earning the Secretary’s Trophy for Ferraris at the 2021 edition of the Salon Privé Concours d’Elegance at Blenheim Palace, plus the President’s Cup for Best in Show Members’ Choice at the September 2023 Ferrari Owners’ Club Summer Garden Party, and Charles Stanley International Concours gathering at Down Hall. Accompanied by copies of the original order form and dealer invoice, plus Ferrari folio, sales brochures, and Ferrari Classiche “Red Book”, this example displays 31,320 miles at the time of cataloguing. Since its restoration there, the car has been treated to a service and MoT annually by Kent High Performance Cars, the most recent carried out in April of this year. It was also the subject of a 2022 engine-out cambelt replacement. This multiple award-winning 512 BB would make for a fitting addition to any collection. 1977 Ferrari 512 BB RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1978 Porsche 928
1st series Swiss road registration The Porsche 928 offered here in the special color Light Green Metallic and interior Pasha with brown leather is one of the more desirable from the 1st series with a very low chassis number. Porsche Stuttgart is registered as the first owner and the car was probably used as a demonstration or press car. It comes from the third owner and has been in the last ownership since 1982, a whopping 42 years. The on-board folder with operating instructions, service booklet and emissions maintenance document is present. This Porsche 928 is being sold in as-is condition, ideal as a basis for a project. The Porsche 928 was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1977 as “The great new sports car from Porsche”. It is a Gran Turismo with a V8 front engine and rear-wheel drive. The gearbox and differential are located in a common housing on the rear axle (transaxle). The body was designed for lightweight construction in order to keep the weight of the car as low as possible despite the extensive equipment. To this end, the doors, fenders and hood were made of aluminum. The 928 was significantly longer, wider and flatter than the 911 at the time and was Porsche’s top-of-the-range model, which was to replace the 911 in the early 1980s. Delivered from fall 1977, the sports car won many awards at its launch due to its progressive design and equipment. In 1978, it was the first sports car ever to be voted European Car of the Year by an international jury of journalists. 1978 Porsche 928 Lutziger Classic Cars AG If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 2001-ferrari-550-barchetta-pininfarina
The Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina Creating a worthy successor for the eye-wateringly pretty GTS/4 ‘Daytona’ Spider was no mean feat for Ferrari, which probably explains why it took the company 31 years to finally do it. Suffice to say, the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina was worth the wait. It was also a fitting way of commemorating the 70th birthday of Pininfarina, the illustrious engineer of elegance from Turin previously responsible for the design of such fabled Ferraris as the 250 GT ‘Lusso’ and, of course, the ‘Daytona’. Introduced at the Paris salon in 2000, the Ferrari 550 Barchetta was drop-dead gorgeous, differing from its closed-roof counterpart in a number of intricate ways. The windscreen, for example, was shorter and more aggressively raked, resulting in a more sleek overall profile. The boot was restyled and, bizarrely for a convertible, more specious as a result. And the fuel filler cap was hewn from aluminium. The Barchetta also received as standard several features that were optional (and, being a Ferrari, alarmingly expensive) on the coupe – big racing bucket seats, for example, a smattering of carbon-fibre trim and 19-inch two-piece alloy wheels. The front-engined V12 was a Barchetta in the truest sense of the word. Ferrari half-heartedly provided a soft-top, although it was only deemed ‘safe’ below 70mph. Who wants to drive their drop-top V12 in the rain, anyway? Ferrari intended to build 444 examples of the 550 Barchetta, but four is an unlucky number in Japan, which worried the bigwigs in Maranello sufficiently enough for them to add four more. Each of the 448 cars (which immediately sold out) boasts an individually numbered plaque on the dash bearing the signature of Sergio Pininfarina. We, for one, are sure he was proud of this rare and incredibly elegant V12 Gran Turismo. Barchetta no. 138 The 550 Barchetta Pininfarina presented here, chassis number 4116, is number 138 of the 448 examples built. It was delivered new to Hong Kong via the Official Ferrari Dealer Italian Motors Ltd. in July of 2001. Ferrari carried out two recall campaigns on the car in June and October of 2003. It emerged again in Malaysia in July of 2012, when it was serviced by the Official Ferrari Dealer Naza Italia. The mileage was noted as just 54 kilometres. Later that year, this 550 Barchetta was submitted for Ferrari Classiche certification. The red certification binder that accompanies the car today confirms chassis number 4116 to be a fully matching-numbers car. The car remained in Malaysia for 10 years, during which time it was serviced on four occasions and covered a mere 545 kilometres. We first encountered this Barchetta in the autumn of 2022, when it arrived with us here at Belchers Farm to be sold. After sending the car to the Official Ferrari Dealer H.R. Owen for a major service (the total cost of which was over £8,000), we sold it to a client based in the United States of America. He opted to store the car with us, meaning that chassis number 4116 has remained in our care ever since. The current mileage reads 568 kilometres. As a result of its remarkably sheltered life, the condition of this Ferrari is very clean and very original. After a thorough inspection, which included full paint-depth reading, we can confirm that it retains its original Rosso Corsa paintwork. The wheels are still shod with their original Pirelli P Zero tyres. As the inspection photos below illustrate, the wheelarches and engine bay are extremely clean, commensurate with the mileage and the climate of the region in which the car spent most of its life. Satisfyingly, chassis number 4116 retains its factory documents pouch complete with Certificate of Origin, Warranty and Service Book, Alarm System booklet, Owners’ Manual, Sales and Service booklet and Hi-Fi System Warranty Card. In the boot you’ll find the fitted leather bag containing the canvas roof arrangement and the red Ferrari car cover. Beneath the boot floor are the leather tool kit and the bagged tyre compressor kit. The proverbial cherries on the cake are the two red special-edition Ferrari 550 Barchetta crash helmets, complete with their yellow cloth bags and brown leather visors. This virginal Ferrari is now seeking a new home. A limited-edition drop-top Ferrari V12 with enough special features to distinguish it from its closed-roof counterpart, the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina is a veritable modern classic. Number 138 presents an extremely rare opportunity to acquire an ultra-low-mileage and highly original example – attributes on which today’s discerning collectors place enormous importance. 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina Girardo & Co. - 1990 Ferrari Testarossa 2
This UK RHD example was supplied new by Maranello Sales in December 1990 to its first private owner, Mr John Hawkins of Weybridge, Surrey. Completed in the iconic combination of Rosso Corsa over Crema (3997) Hide interior with optional Nero dashboard and Rosso carpets, this example really harks back to those sensational posters that adorned bedroom walls at the time. Retained by Hawkins until 1994, the car was then sold by Maranello Concessionaires to its second custodian Mr Stevens. At the time of the sale, the car had covered just 441 miles from new! Stevens would retain the car for eight years, exercising the car occasionally and bringing the mileage up to 7,400 miles by 2002. Purchased by its third keeper at that time, the car would lead a gentler life seeing only occasional use. Dry stored, the MOT history documents the cars minimal use, with only 4,100 miles covered between 2002 and 2015. In 2016 the car was purchased from an estate sale and at that time, A well known Ferrari specialist carried out a significant service, including cambelts and overhaul of components. Since 2016, this example has been kept within our DK's secure storage facility seeing very occasional use. Receiving a major service at DK in 2022 at 11,430 miles, the car today has covered just 11,600 Miles from new. It presents in superb condition as one would expect and will receive a fresh service as part of the sale. It is available to view at our showrooms just outside London immediately. 1990 Ferrari Testarossa Duncan Hamilton Rofgo Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1955-mercedes-benz-300-sl-gullwing-2
The story of this 300 SL puts in on a pedestal above many of its contemporaries. This car was supplied new to close friend of Juan Manuel Fangio; Edouardo Kovacs. The car would find its residence in Valparaiso, Chile with Kovacs ahead of their competition in the 1956 Buenos Aires 1000 km. Ordered new in DB166 Blue-Grey over special-order Steel Blue leather, this example would see Rudge ‘knock-off’ wheels in anticipation of competition. Special paint finish (high-gloss) DB 166 BlauGrau Special upholstery DB 979 Leder Stahlblau Disc wheels with Rudge hubs Becker 'Le Mans' radio with Reims adapter and Hirschmann antenna Windshield washer system 1 set of rear suitcases 1 kg of paint The car was further ordered with one spare engine and ten spare tyres. Just five spare tyres would make the steam ship accompanying the car, with the engine retained by Mercedes until required. In order to make the start of race, Kovacs and his co-driver Raul ‘Papin’ Jaras Fleischmann would make the journey over the Andes by (mostly dirt) roads, in the very same 300 SL. The 1,700 km journey would see the duo reach heights of 3,200 metres, as high as any ski run in Europe. The race itself was significant, the season opener of the 1956 Worlds Sportscar Championship. Ferrari and Maserati were there in force, running the latest and fastest sports racers at the hands of the very best drivers. Maserati brought with them both the 300S and 150S and there was an abundance of Cavallinos present too; the 860 Monza, 857S, 500 Mondial, 225S and 410 Sport. Moss paired with Menditéguy, Gendebien with Hill, Froilan Gonzalez with Behra. Fangio, Castellotti, Musso, Collins were also on the grid. With the withdrawal of Mercedes from all competition following the Le Mans tragedy the previous year; Fangio had persuaded Kovacs to enter his car so they could compete wheel to wheel in South America. Kovacs agreed and Mercedes flew a technical crew with parts to support. The team asked if they could fit their latest sports exhaust, but as reported in the Motorsport Magazine at the time, Mr Kovacs declined, stating that he would then not be able to hear the radio! At the end of the thousand kilometres, the Maserati 300S of Moss and Menditéguy took the chequered flag from the Ferrari 857S of Hill and Gendebien, in 6th place was the Gullwing of Kovacs and co-driver Raul Jaras, one lap ahead of the race favourite and close friend Juan Manuel Fangio in the Scuderia Ferrari 410 Sport with co-driver Castellotti. The result for the 300 SL was also the highest placing non-factory entered car. In placing 6th, Edoardo Kovacs secured the first and only point for Mercedes Benz in the 1956 Sports Car championship. This feat would be acknowledged by handwritten letter and personal gift from Alfred Neubauer, the Director of Sport at Daimler-Benz. This letter remains with the car to this day. Beyond his endeavour in Buenos Aires, Kovacs would retain the car for 24 years. 1955 Supplied new to Edouardo Kovacs-Jones 1956 Buenos Aires 1000KM 1958 Campo de Marte Ciudad de Luna 1959 Gran Prix International Ciudad de Lima 1960 Playa Ancha Road Circuit 1964 Barrancas Circuit 1964 Gran Prix Ciudad de Limache 1964 Santiago Arica Grand Prix – El Morro In 1957 Kovacs won the “Gran Premio Tres Provincias” in central Chile in that same car. In 1959 Mr. Kovacs took the Gullwing to Perú, and won the “Gran Premio Internacional de Lima”, the most important grand prix in Peru. In 1964, with the MB he was the winner of a local race in Limache, Santiago, and obtained a second place in a circuit in Valparaiso. At the end of the year, during an international race in the city of Arica, in the northern border of Chile, he was running in first place the car left the road, fortunately he and his young son, who would become a famous driver and champion were not hurt. The car was damaged, so Kovacs decided to send the car back to Germany, to have the car repaired by Mercedes Benz at the factory. It is understood that Mercedes optioned to fit the spare engine to the car at this time. The car had competed for the last time and once the car returned to Chile, it would be used by Kovacs only as a road car for the next 18 years. In 1979 the 300 SL would find custodianship with its next keeper, John Crawford Jeffords III of Arizona after transport by Delta steamship ‘Santa Mariana’ to Los Angeles. Crawford would have the car restored and would retain the car until 1998. Residing within a prominent German collection for two further decades, the 300 SL would see maintenance works carried out by marque specialists H.K. Engineering in 2011. Imported into the UK by a serial 300 SL collector, the car would later receive works by Martin Cushway Engineering. Sold by DK Engineering to its current custodian in 2022, this example has since seen sparing use on UK roads. 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL 'Gullwing' D.K. Other Cars from D.K. - 1970-maserati-ghibli-47-spyder-by-ghia
Unveiled at the 1966 Turin Motor Show, the Maserati Ghibli instantly captivated the automotive world with its striking design and formidable performance. Beneath its sculpted hood a powerful 4.7-liter dry-sump V-8 engine produced an impressive 310 horsepower. The car's stunning coachwork, masterminded by the visionary Giorgetto Giugiaro and crafted by Ghia, featured a dynamic, low-slung coupe silhouette, highlighted by sleek pop-up headlamps, a sharply raked windshield, and a sweeping fastback. The Ghibli quickly became a symbol of exclusivity and sophistication, adored by the world's most glamorous figures. Celebrities from basketball icon Wilt Chamberlain to comedian Peter Sellers, and even Rat Pack legends Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., all gravitated toward this automotive masterpiece, cementing it as a must-have for the international jet set. As with any popular sporty coupe, customers eventually demanded an open-top version, and Maserati answered with a spyder that debuted on Ghia’s stand at the 1968 Turin Motor Show. With the roof removed, the coachwork took on a totally different character, emphasizing the flowing beltlines and luxurious dimensions. The prototype proved to be the first of only 128 examples built, ensuring a degree of rarity that further solidified the model’s cachet with collectors. At the conclusion of Ghibli production, 83 examples of the 4.7-liter spyder had been built, according to Maserati Classiche. Of those, just 25 were crafted as left-hand-drive, European-specification models equipped with a manual gearbox, placing the featured lot in exceedingly exclusive company. According to Maserati Classiche records, chassis number 1079 was completed in February 1970, equipped with a 4.7-liter engine and manual gearbox, and finished in Giallo with a Nero leather interior. Destined to start life in its native country, 1079 was delivered new to Rome where it was reportedly first sold to an airline pilot before being exported to the United States in the mid-1970s. The car then made its way to Ontario, Canada where it is said to have been treated to a comprehensive, multi-year restoration, which included the installation of exceptionally attractive Borrani wire wheels. Following its refurbishment, the car returned to Italy where it has since remained a jewel in the crown of several esteemed European collections. Now presented in factory-correct Giallo over Nero livery, chassis 1079 is notably equipped with a Blaupunkt stereo, air conditioning, and power steering. Importantly, it also retains its numbers-matching 4.7-liter engine and gearbox, as confirmed by an accompanying Maserati Classiche Certificate of Authenticity and book issued in May of 2024. Hugely desirable when new and having remained in fashion ever since, this breathtaking Maserati Ghibli Spyder will make an outstanding complement to collections the world over, certain to tug at the heartstrings of any enthusiast of notable Italian sports cars. 1970 Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Spyder by Ghia RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
