This F40 is one of the approximate 224 U.S. F40's built between 1990-1992. This car ordered new through Wide World Ferrari (still in business today) and sold by one of the legends of a salesman Nick Saridakis. The first owner took delivery of the car in Italy and the European license plate frame is still on the car today. This car was acquired by the second owner around 1998. He acquired the car through Wide World Ferrari as well. The second owner was a very prominent member in the world finance community and one of the top ten car collectors in the world. This car was well looked after by his collection manager. This car was always serviced at each interval. Upon our acquisition we have done a cryogenic cleaning to the chassis and engine bay, a concours detail to the exterior of the car and we recovered the seats with new foam and the proper nomex material. We performed a full major service including: Belts, Cam Cover Seals, Spark Plugs, Water Pump Rebuild, all new filters, change all fluids. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an F40 that has never been publicly for sale, extremely low ownership and has been owned for a very long time by its previous custodian. 1991 Ferrari F40 GT Motor Cars If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Suppose you only deal in cars from private collections and you find yourself in a large barn where (almost) all your petrol dreams are... On the left, in the back, somewhat permanently put away, in the corner under a layer of dust, is this widened Ferrari 512BB Competizione Stradale. Incredibly beautiful, with an almost dirty raw edge because of the pop rivets and the broadly beaten aluminium. You are, most probably, just like us, spontaneously in love! For the collector - and for us - it was totally unclear what it was exactly. That's where the Cool Classic Club's voyage of discovery began 1.5 years ago. The end result? Something with Carrozzeria Autosport Bacchelli & Villa, Italian craftsmanship, emotion and a competition engine block. A boxer 12 cylinder with 420 atmospheric espresso horses, without auxiliary systems. Curious? Click below for the whole story, if you dare. - 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport Cabriolet by Pinin Farina 1
This beautifully restored Alfa Romeo was delivered new to pre-war racing legend and subsequent Alfa Romeo factory racing team member Count Goffredo Zehender of Milan, Italy. According to noted Alfa Romeo expert Angelo Tito Anselmi, chassis number 915871 was built in October 1949, specified as a short-wheelbase Super Sport chassis, and equipped with engine number 928182. Specially prepared at Pinin Farina, this cabriolet coachwork design is believed to be limited to just three or four examples influenced by Zehander due to his racing prominence in the community which resulted in his cars finished with special details, either for himself, or for his friends and customers. These details included a unique front fascia with enveloping treatment, larger inset grille sections, a sculpted hood and rear haunches, and a license plate cut-out in the trunk lid. In addition to his racing prowess with Alfa Romeo, Zehander continued to race with Maserati and Mercedes-Benz during the 1930s while participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice. The elegant but sporty 6C was the ideal cabriolet for the man who would ultimately manage the Scuderia Inter racing team, one of the first privateer teams to campaign Ferrari sports cars. After Zehander’s ownership, in 1953, a US Army officer purchased the car from the South of France and imported it to California. In March of 1957 it was acquired by Robert Allinger of Saratoga, California. Allinger, an American coachbuilder, was well known for his body designs building record chasing dry-lakes cars. Allinger was also an avid West Coast motorsports enthusiast who entered a Maserati Coupe for John Fox in 1957 at Laguna Seca, and an Osca, also for Fox, the following year. In 1969, Allinger sold the car to Wayne Williams of Mountain View, California, who retained the car in original condition, remaining for decades in dry California storage until 2010 after a remarkable 41 years of ownership, when it was purchased by the next owners who consigned it to Fantasy Junction. The car was sold to the current owner in 2013 who commissioned a comprehensive seven-year restoration of the finest quality employing expert European craftsmen addressing every detail, material, and finish befitting the historic import of this exquisite Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport. During the restoration, the restoration process was eased by nearly 50 years of indoor preservation allowing for only minor metal work to the original body and appropriate welding for the rocker sills. With many of the original parts properly preserved, details such as the factory wheel covers with brass centers were carefully restored while accurate templates supplied dimensions for consumables such as the meticulously fabricated exhaust. Further details were painstakingly restored with attention to authenticity, fit, and finish. Consistent with consummate attention to all aspects of the car, the correct in-line six-cylinder engine was delivered to a specialist in Belgium who disassembled it entirely and performed a comprehensive rebuild, while the suspension elements, rear axle, steering components, and radiator were rebuilt by a marque expert in Germany, with Italian specialists rebuilding the carburetors, instruments, and wiring loom. Addressing the finishing touches, Motorima in Sweden, Scandinavia’s leading specialist in Italian marques, refinished the car in grigio metallizzato including new chrome for the brightwork and careful refinishing for the beautifully complex 98-piece grille. Expert upholstery was carefully stitched and fitted in Norway using the finest forest green leather hides and sage green convertible top. In 2020, after seven years of careful restoration, this Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 was accepted for exhibition at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance where it would have been displayed in the special Pininfarina class to celebrate their 90th anniversary. Due to Covid restrictions, however, the event was cancelled, and the following year further travel restrictions prevented participation. Today this Alfa Romeo presents as one of the most stunning examples of this era, combining coachbuilding artistry and technical innovation. The finishes throughout are exemplary in every respect. Just as the traditions of fine Italian craftsmanship were applied when first built, premier European artisans have once again proven their exquisite restoration skills. The Pinin Farina coachwork with its unique design features adorns the elegant cabriolet Super Sport body with elegance and sporting flair. The lustrous, deep silver paint is beautifully finished, applied with consistent coverage and excellent final polish to all areas. This rich metallic color enhances the streamlined singular envelope body which was very advanced for the period. The polished rocker trim accentuates the low-profile body while a set of Blockley tires and full chrome wheel covers add to the sporting nature of this design. Refined brightwork surrounding the sculpted art deco headlamps is perfectly formed and polished, while accessory lights, specially trimmed rear license plate, and recessed door handles are beautifully fit to the body. The exterior trim, chrome, and elegant Super Sport features are beautifully presented while the contrasting dark green interior is offset by delightful amber handles and knobs, a wicker wound steering wheel, and Jaeger gauges. Every aspect of the leather interior is properly executed including correct seat pleats, door panels and pockets, and tinted plexiglass sun visors. No detail has escaped the careful eyes of the celebrated experts who participated in this world class restoration. Under the hood, the matching numbers engine and beautifully finished engine compartment have been comprehensively restored using correct factory finishes, correct hardware and fasteners, and proper wiring, all of which are brought together with mechanical refinement and aesthetic harmony befitting a car of this caliber. The engine castings are uniformly finished with attention to detail and authenticity in every respect, including the three original Weber carburetors, sculpted intake, and finned exhaust manifolds. The trunk is finished with a correct spare wire wheel, matching Blockley tire and a correct scissor jack with tire changing tools. The underside of the car has been restored with the same attention to detail and authenticity afforded to the exterior, displaying accurate details, proper fasteners, and correct exhaust down to the hand shaped square edge exhaust tip. The entire composition resonates with passionate Italian artistry and restoration excellence in this truly exceptional car. This Alfa Romeo is accompanied by tire changing tools, an owner’s manual and brochure, and a presentation display highlighting the restoration. This Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport represents a rare opportunity to acquire a beautifully restored Alfa Romeo with coach work by Pinin Farina and world-class restoration. The elegant body lines, sporting 6C engine, and stunning interior makes this Super Sport a welcomed entrant to any major event celebrating the icons of automotive history. For anyone passionate about the finest in design, state of the art engineering, and superb craftsmanship, this Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport will confidently deliver a lifetime of delightful motoring and ownership satisfaction. 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport Cabriolet by Pinin Farina Fantasy Junction If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1973-porsche-beck-904-carrera-gts-replica
History of Beck and the 904 Carrera GTS The history of Beck cars dates back to their extensive development of vintage era tribute cars focused on creating vehicles that were easily accessible to a wide range of enthusiasts unable to acquire one of the rare original examples. Known for their 550 and 356 models, Chuck Beck initiated the build process for the 904 with careful engineering considerations, releasing the 904 GTS on a custom order basis with production features including a TIG and spot welded tubular stainless-steel chassis, folded stainless sheet floor, and boxed ladder main frame rails. For the suspension, Beck developed Chevron B-16 inspired independent front and rear coil-over suspension (rear 4-link with parallel trailing arm), CNC billet aluminum uprights, and installed manual rack and pinion steering. The hand laid fiberglass body was bonded to the frame for added structural rigidity and an integral roll bar with optional door bars was integrated into the interior. The prototype GTS was tested at Road Atlanta running a 3.6-liter engine. Though these cars were offered with a range of engine options including Subaru and VW based flat 4 engines, each owner could specify engine and transmission preferences for their final build. Of particular note, a “wide body” variant was offered which featured an additional 3” of rear fender flare, allowing for the added tire width necessary to maintain adhesion on models outfitted with higher output engines. History of this Carrera GTS According to the current owner, this example is one of the first 904 models built and one of the rare wide body variants offered. The original commissioning build was performed by Beck. This example is believed to be one of the earliest 904 GTS models built and quite possibly the first wide body 904 constructed. Built with a dry sump 3.8-liter Porsche 993 twin-plug engine, fuel-injection, and 5-speed 915 Porsche transaxle, this wide body 904 was completed with track day specifications and used minimally by the first owner for a few track-day events and occasional street use. Current Condition Today this Beck 904 Carrera GTS presents as a professionally finished car with mechanical integrity and exterior cosmetics consistent with minimal use since it was completed. The silver paint has been smoothly applied over the hand laid fiberglass body panels which exhibit good fit and finish throughout the iconic 904 low-profile body lines. The additionally widened rear fender flares (exclusive to the wide body design) have been formed to accommodate the massive rear wheels yet still match the smaller front flares giving the car an impressive stance. The glass windshield, clear plastic sliding side panes, and plexiglass rear window are all in excellent condition. A set of matching staggered width Fuchs style three-piece wheels with Toyo Proxes R888 215/40ZR17 front and 315/35 40ZR17 rear race tires with aluminum Brembo red finished calipers perched over four-wheel disc brakes. Competition touches include clear plexiglass covered headlights, aluminum engine vent screen, dual chrome racing mirrors, and a set of Hella yellow lens fog lamps. The cockpit is very well laid out finished with black vinyl door trim, felt-lined rear bulkhead, and integrated rollbar. The dashboard features an instrument pod outfitted with three large-dial Porsche VDO black and green gauges including an 8k tachometer, 180 mph speedometer, and multi-gauge cluster. The dash continues across the passenger area with a series of labeled switches and contemporary VDO small dial gauges. A set of black vinyl seats are outfitted with Crow racing harnesses. A padded quick release steering wheel features a Porsche center crest and mounts cleverly in reverse configuration for added driver arm length. The interior delivers a purposeful no-frills, ready for action presentation, in keeping with the original commissioned build for a capable track day car. Raising the rear section of the car, the simplicity and effectiveness of the sophisticated Chevron B-16 inspired independent suspension, stainless-steel tubular frame, and twin-plug 993 3.8-liter engine create a very impressive visual statement. The engine is outfitted with a dry sump oil system using an aluminum oil tank and remote oil filter. The engine is mated to a 5-speed 915 Porsche transaxle and the 12-volt system uses an Optima battery and alternator. The front is accessible via a hinged hood which reveals an aluminum foam-filled fuel cell and fluid reservoirs. The underside reveals further details of the lightweight construction, independent coil-over A-arm suspension, and componentry consistent with the build performed by Chuck Beck. This Beck 904 Carrera GTS presents an excellent opportunity to acquire a professionally built and properly prepared example crafted by the premier builder of the iconic 904 in tribute to the original configuration. Although this car has been formerly prepared for track day use, we highly recommend a professional shop with racing car prep history inspect this car and properly prepare it before use in a competition setting. 1973 Porsche Beck 904 Carrera GTS replica Fantasy Junction If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series1
Of all the versions of Jaguar's long-lived and much loved sports car, it’s the very early 3.8-litre cars built prior to February 1962 (retrospectively known as 'flat floor') which, for many enthusiasts, remain the most desirable. Around 2,000 of the early cars were built with a flat floor under the pedals, but the driving position was not ideal for taller drivers, so changes were made to the footwell, creating a recess for the driver's heels. The lovely 1962 3.8-litre Roadster offered here is indeed one of those sought after early ‘flat-floor’ cars and the accompanying Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate confirms that #850334 was a right-hand drive car finished in Opalescent Gunmetal Grey with a dark blue interior and matching soft top. The build was finished on 6th January 1962 prior to being despatched on the 16th of the same month to Henlys, London, who registered it to its first lucky owner on the 29th. Interestingly, the chassis number and build date indicate that this was one of the first six right-hand drive roadsters built in 1962. Whilst in the ownership of Malcolm Acors, the car was fully restored and upgraded to 4.2-litres by Fullbridge Jaguar in Maldon, Essex alongside a matching Coupé and both cars were featured in a multi-page article in Jaguar World Magazine. In 2007, 6032 DD was entrusted to Eagle E-Types to upgrade to a 'Sports-Specification Eagle' which appears to be a combination of their GT, Classic, Sport and Super option packages and a full list entitled 'Eagle Endorsed E-Type – Current Specification/Proposal' is with the car. It’s a long list, covering essentially electrics, cooling, suspension and brakes but there are some substantial upgrades including a 5-speed gearbox, high-lift camshafts, diaphragm clutch and 6" stainless wire wheels with modern tyres. 850334/6032 DD was purchased by our vendor on 17th February 2012 to join his Collection and was used very lightly, but regularly, over the following years as can be seen by the MOT history (for some of this time the car was registered 5 AXD). The indicated mileage at the time of cataloguing was 4,007. Annual servicing, check-overs and maintenance has been carried out by Eagle and they have also been responsible for storing the car for long periods. Copy invoices from Eagle to the value of £13,298 (all dated 2012) are in the file which also contains Job Cards for the following years. The hood (soft-top) appears to have been replaced in September 2012 at a cost of £2,600. The final invoice in the history file is from DK Engineering, dated 2nd July 2019 for an 'Annual Service & Report' at 3,660 miles and totalling £1,112. Here at Iconic Auctioneers we have been instrumental in helping several hundred Jaguar E-Types find new homes and probably could be forgiven for becoming slightly blasé about these remarkable cars, however we defy anyone to look at these stunning Alan Kenny images of this Opalescent Gunmetal early Roadster relaxing in the late-afternoon sunshine and not feel that it is one of the most beautiful motor cars they had ever seen. We welcome and encourage any inspection of this important Jaguar. 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series1 Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Equipment includes a switchable sport mode, electric windows, electrically adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable door mirrors and a Ferrari audio head unit with a Becker six-disc CD changer in the boot. Original owner’s manuals in their correct tan leather wallet, a fully stamped service book by Ferrari dealers, a warning triangle and the tan leather tool kit. This 456M GTA’s most recent maintenance was carried out in February 2022 at 73,221km by Maranello Motors Koln. The work comprised of a major service including belt replacements. Prior to this, the car was serviced in July 2016 at 68,731 km, which was another major service with replacement cam belts and in 2007 at 47,871 km which was another major routine service with replacement of the belts by Foitek CH. - 1965 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE
Introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1961, the top-of-the-range W112 was sold to the public as the 300SE, the ultimate Mercedes in the early 1960s. While sharing the same platform and timelessly elegant, Paul Bracq designed bodywork as the W111 220, the W112 coupe and convertibles were fitted with the smooth, powerful, fuel-injected M189 Type big-block straight -six power unit. They were also equipped with advanced self-levelling pneumatic rear suspension, power steering and automatic transmission along with a more luxurious interior. Externally, the W112 could be distinguished by significantly more brightwork as well as larger 14-inch wheels. Automatic transmission was standard with a much smaller number of cars were supplied with the manual gearbox. Costing nearly twice as much as a 220SE, more than a Rolls-Royce at the time, a 300SE was always going to be an exclusive purchase. Indeed, just 3127 were made before the long-established body style left the catalogue. Relative rarity and enduring good looks mean therefore that these forever classic Mercedes models have become more sought after. Painted in a very attractive dark blue, this 300SE Coupe still delivers an impressive turn of speed with the super smooth fuel-injected six giving ample power driven through the all synchromesh 4-speed ‘box. With nicely patinated yet very comfortable black leather and lots of wood within, this is a classic motor car for every occasion. A file of invoices accompanies the car from time it spent previously in New Zealand and Ireland. 1965 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Will Stone Historic Cars Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1955-mercedes-benz-190-sl
Much like its 300 SL bigger brother, the 190 SL was the brainchild of Mercedes-Benz American importer Max Hoffman. Hoffman believed that a smaller, less costly roadster bearing a family resemblance to the more exotic 300 SL would prove to be just as successful. Given the car’s popularity upon debuting at the 1954 New York Auto Show and subsequent success throughout its nine-year production run, Hoffman was right. Its heart was a 1.9-liter inline four-cylinder engine with dual Solex carburetors rated to produce 120 horsepower and good for a reported top speed of over 105 mph. The 190 SL was an effortless cruiser, and its trunk could easily accommodate a weekend’s worth of luggage for two. Priced at $3,840 when new, it cost nearly half as much as a 300 SL Roadster. This 1955 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL is a wonderfully restored example finished in its factory special-order colors, Graphite Grey with a Red leather interior and a Light Grey soft-top. Delivered to New York on 6 September 1955, the roadster features a number of details only seen on early production models including bucket seats, steering wheel-mounted turn signals, metal vent levers, and factory glass reflectors at the rear. After being shipped to the United States, the car remained under the care of its first owner for a short time before being sold to a second enthusiast in 1961. It was later purchased in original condition by its third owner in 1996. Just a handful of years later, the Mercedes-Benz became the subject of a comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration that commenced in 2004. Expertly performed, the car was faithfully reassembled to how the roadster would have appeared when leaving the factory floor nearly half a century earlier. Notably, it retains its numbers-matching engine. Soon after completion, the car was awarded Best of Show at the 2004 International 190 SL Convention in Sonoma, California. Confirming the immense quality of the restoration, a second Best of Show award was bestowed upon the car at the same event, this time held in South Carolina in 2023—two decades after the completion of the work. The 190 SL is accompanied by a set of fitted luggage, owner’s books, a tool kit, a 190 SL brochure, a 190 SL leaflet, correspondence, and a collection of restoration invoices. Now a little over 20 years removed from its masterful restoration, the 190 SL on offer continues to present with a jewelry-like quality that still easily holds its own against more recently completed contenders. 1955 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1960 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Touring
This beautiful Alfa Romeo, completed in 1960, was probably delivered new in Italy but registered in the Canton Grisons already in June 1961. To match the engine power with the sporting appearance, many years ago a 140hp 2.3 litre Rio-engine with twin Weber DCOE carbs was installed. With considerably more power and torque the Touring Spider now presents a great car for Oldtimer rallies and excursions into the Swiss Alps. The Alfa was restored several years ago. Maintenance records from 2014 for around 35’000 francs are available. As one of only 3’443 examples built, this car is in good to very good and well-maintained condition. The last MOT was completed in May 2022. 1960 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Touring Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1991-mercedes-benz-560-sec-60-amg-wide-body
Since 1967, AMG has achieved worldwide success in its customer-car business by following an extremely simple ethos: If you could pay for it, AMG could do it. Before its acquisition by Mercedes-Benz in 1993, AMG and its semi-independent franchisees around the world never made character judgments upon prospective customers. Unlike most marques, AMG did not care who you were, how many times you had done business previously, or how outrageous your customization requests might be—AMG cared least of all where your money came from…anyone with enough cash could be an AMG customer. The car offered here is not only a perfect example of AMG’s corporate ethos, but also the company’s skill in executing even the wildest requests of its demanding clientele. This wide-bodied 560 SEC 6.0—the “Marakaito Missile”—is, without reproach, one of AMG’s most highly personalized creations ever produced for a customer. But before digging into this car’s outrageous specification, let us briefly contextualize the mind-boggling expenditure represented by the general model offered here. First, the cost of its 6.0-liter DOHC engine conversion, and wide-body package from AMG—tacked onto the sticker price of a brand-new, flagship SEC Coupe—made this model one of the most expensive roadgoing marvels of the period. And that would be just for a “normal” 6.0-liter, wide-body SEC...but the Marakaito Missile is anything but normal, even so far as AMG builds go. This car’s original owner—reputedly a Japanese businessman of considerable means—demanded the absolute best. Cosmetically, the car has everything: A full aero kit, a staggered set of color-matched Aero III wheels, and a rear wing-type decklid spoiler. For the most extreme interior customization requests, AMG regularly partnered with leading upholstery specialists such as Gemballa, or in the case of this car, Carat Duchatelet of Belgium. And the interior is really where the specifications get wild. Absolutely every inch of the interior has been hand-trimmed in buffalo leather; the center console, dashboard, steering column, door panels, rear parcel shelf, headliner, and power-adjustable Recaro seats are all done up in upgraded leather (with green piping). Even the control panels for the seats are wrapped in leather! The lower dashboard is done in black buffalo leather, while the upper dashboard wears dark green buffalo leather which also finds its way to the matching set of grain-matched, leather-faced gauges with hand-painted indications. A full suite of burlwood trim pieces accentuates the cabin upholstery to an incredible standard of finish which even carries to the storage covers on the rear parcel shelf. No self-respecting AMG Japan customer would abstain from ordering a full Nakamichi sound system, and this car’s original owner was no exception. Though the car was evidently specified with every single performance option available, of particular interest among its long list of desire-inducing specifications is the M117/9 “transitional” AMG V-8 engine. Rarely seen, the M117/9 is an amalgamation of the earliest M119 block and heads with the latest M117 accessories, all cleverly mated together and stuffed with AMG internal components to supply approximately 375 horsepower. This powerplant represents a very temporary, transitional phase during which AMG’s world-class technicians were bridging the development gap between the outgoing M117 engine and the new M119 engine which Mercedes-Benz had debuted in late 1989. As such, compared to AMG’s earlier DOHC M117 motors these very late M117/9 hybrids enjoy greatly improved robustness, reliability, and serviceability. In November 2024, noted pre-merger AMG specialist Jonathan Hodgman of Blue Ridge Mercedes (Lilburn, Georgia) furnished the car with nearly $20,000 in mechanical freshening and NLA parts. Of particular note is a new set of custom-spec engine mounts, new spark plugs, a factory-correct AMG torque converter, distributor cap, as well as a host of miscellaneous seals, gaskets, lines, filters, and fluids for the engine and transmission. An AMG specialist for RM Sotheby’s recently commented, “the Marakaito Missile is full of AMG-commissioned, Carat-executed touches I’ve only seen rarely and certainly not together before. The attention to detail is absurd throughout, while the engine is very much a time-and-place kind of thing which was only in production for an extremely brief period. Considering that the Japanese economy collapsed only a few months after this car was built, I think it’s fair to say that this car was assembled at the perfect time, for the perfect AMG customer—someone who never asked ‘how much will that cost, or what will people think of me’…a true individual.” Presented today from a notable California-based collection, the Marakaito Missile presents an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire what is, rather inarguably, the most highly personalized example of AMG’s most impactful, era-defining poster car. 1991 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC 6.0 AMG 'Wide-Body' RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright Since 1967, AMG has achieved worldwide success in its customer-car business by following an extremely simple ethos: If you could pay for it, AMG could do it. - 1993 Cizeta V16T
By the 1980s, former Lamborghini test driver and development engineer Claudio Zampolli had relocated to Los Angeles and established a successful business servicing the supercars of the wealthy and famous. But his dreams did not end there: Determined to build his own supercar, Zampolli teamed up with music producer Giorgio Moroder as an investor in the late 1980s and embarked on his journey to create an exotic like nothing that had been seen before. Zampolli wanted something that would grab headlines, and he knew that an innovative V-16 was the answer. Inspired by the engine layout of the Lamborghini Miura, Zampolli’s creation had a transverse-mounted 6.0-liter V-16 with a five-speed manual gearbox. The stunning bodywork was penned by legendary designer Marcelo Gandini, who is also known for designing the Miura, Countach, Stratos, and countless other iconic cars. Zampolli’s partnership with Moroder dissolved after the first prototype, and the cars, initially marketed as the Cizeta-Moroder V16T, went into production wearing only the Cizeta name. Ultimately, only nine examples were completed in the V16T’s initial run due to production delays and the model’s complexity. For Zampolli, however, Cizeta was a success: His dream of building an exclusive supercar of his own design had been accomplished, and the final result was nothing short of spectacular. Given the Cizeta’s backstory, cost, and exclusivity, it is no surprise that each V16T produced has an interesting backstory. This car, chassis 101, is no exception. After Brunei became an independent country in 1983, the Sultan of Brunei and his family used a portion of their vast oil wealth to build the largest car collection the world had ever seen. Commissioning approximately 2,000 cars from all different manufacturers, the Royal Family singlehandedly kept many luxury brands in business through the tough years of the 1990s. Their search for the most exclusive and technically advanced cars money could buy led them to Cizeta. The Royal Family purchased three of the nine Cizeta V16Ts built: This blue example and two black examples. Chassis 101 was ordered by Hong Seh Motors of Singapore on behalf of the Brunei Royal Family. Hong Seh was the official Ferrari dealership in Singapore, and many cars from the Royal Family’s collection were ordered through them. Finished in blue with blue leather interior and with right-hand drive, chassis 101 was used in press photo shoots throughout Italy and was displayed at the 1993 Geneva Auto Show. Nearly all 983 kilometers (~611 miles) on the odometer at the time of cataloguing are believed to have been accumulated during testing by the factory in this period. Interestingly, chassis 101 has horizontal slats over the side air intakes like the prototype, while most other examples have vertical slats. Chassis 101 was shipped from Modena to Asia in March 1993; for unknown reasons, it remained with Hong Seh Motors in Singapore for over 25 years and was never delivered to Brunei. Pininfarina subsequently heavily modified the other two V16Ts purchased by the Royal Family with Ferrari flat-12 engines and irreversible structural changes. One of those cars remains in an incomplete disassembled state, while the other is displayed in the Marconi Museum in Tustin, California. Chassis 101 is the only V16T from the Brunei Royal Family’s collection to have escaped this fate and today remains just as it arrived in Singapore. A previous owner purchased chassis 101 from Hong Seh Motors in 2020 and returned the car to driving condition after its two-and-a-half-decade stay in Singapore. Prior to being sold again in 2021, the car had all the fluids changed, the cooling system serviced, and the fuel system cleaned. With its innovative transverse-mounted V-16 positioned close to the passengers, the Cizeta is a thrill to drive with a unique sound unlike any other supercar. The Cizeta V16T is a seldom-seen but incredibly interesting machine which still remains one of very few post-war sixteen-cylinder production cars. With incredible performance, stunning design, fascinating history, and utmost exclusivity, this V16T will surely stand out wherever it goes. 1993 Cizeta V16T RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
