Fitted with 1600cc super 90 engine Accompanied by its Kardex Four-wheel disc brakes Recently serviced Desirable sunroof option, freshly repainted Chassis 130833 was registered new to its first owner, a resident of Alhambra, California in 1964 via Competition Motors, Culver City, California. The original specification was signal red over black interior per the Kardex, it was optioned with chrome-plated perforated disc brakes, red coconut floor mats, hubcaps with the Porsche crest and a Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio with two speakers and antenna. It was acquired by our client from a collector in Orlando, Florida in 2022. While the early history is unknown there is a nice history file of receipts. The car was repainted in the summer of 2025 and shows very few imperfections, the panel gaps and fits are excellent, and the undercarriage is solid and rust free. Prior to advertising the car has been serviced and MOT’d. It is powered by its non-matching-numbers 1600cc flat-four engine delivering 90 horsepower paired with its four-speed gearbox, the car is accompanied by its history file and Kardex. 1964 Porsche 356C O'KANE LAVERS Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1956-ferrari-250-gt-lwb-berlinetta-tour-de-france-by-scaglietti
In the annals of motor racing, a handful of significant competition models have been nicknamed for one particular example that achieved something extraordinary at an important event—think Monza or Brooklands. Not necessarily the first, or most advanced example of the model, this namesake car nevertheless attains the status of archetypal legend through its unexpected deeds. Among Ferrari’s long-wheelbase 250 GT berlinettas, no example fits that description better than the featured lot, chassis number 0557 GT. For it was this very car that won the 1956 Tour de France Auto rally, a victory so momentous that the model was henceforth known as the Tour de France, or TdF. This 250 GT Berlinetta is the ninth of 14 first-series cars and the seventh of nine that were clothed in Scaglietti’s early no-louvre coachwork. In April 1956, the car was sold to Marquis Alfonso de Portago, one of Europe’s most legendary personalities of the era. Godson to King Alfonso XIII of Spain, de Portago was a highly successful Scuderia Ferrari Works and privateer racing driver, Olympic-level athlete, as well as a well-known international playboy. In September 1956, the ravishing Ferrari was entered with race number 73 at the Tour de France Auto, where it was driven by de Portago and his friend Ed Nelson. The 2,800-kilometres event included two hillclimbs, one drag race, and six circuit races, with tracks including Le Mans, Comminges, Reims, and Montlhéry. De Portago and Nelson managed to win at five of the six circuits, taking 1st overall in the Tour and beating both Stirling Moss’s factory Mercedes-Benz 300 SL and future three-time Tour winner Olivier Gendebien’s Ferrari 250 Europa GT. Their benchmark victory forever bestowed this iteration of the 250 GT Berlinetta with the name Tour de France, which has since evolved into one of Maranello’s most hallowed heritage monikers. Three weeks later, de Portago drove the 250 GT to victory at the Coupes du Salon at Montlhéry, followed by a class win in the Rome Grand Prix, and outright victory in the Coupes USA of April 1957, marking a historic moment in that the car won every race it entered. Sadly, this would be the car’s last outing with the Marquis, as his 335 S was involved in a tragic accident a month later in the Mille Miglia in the notoriously dangerous race’s final running. Chassis number 0557 GT was then returned to the Maranello factory and sold to de Portago’s friend, C Keith Schellenberg, a shipping magnate residing in the UK. Schellenberg kept the Ferrari for over two decades, and the car was only seldom publicly seen before being offered for sale in 1983. This 250 GT was then purchased by enthusiast Peter Palumbo, who in turn sold the car in 1992 to esteemed marque collector Lorenzo Zambrano. During his ownership, the Berlinetta received a ground-up restoration by highly respected Ferrari restorer Bob Smith Coachworks of Gainesville, Texas. The Tour de France was exhibited frequently over the following 12 years, winning its class at the 1994 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and International Ferrari Concours d’Elegance at Monterey, California. The Berlinetta then won the Prix Blancpain Award at the Louis Vuitton Parc de Bagatelle Concours d’Elegance and a Blue Ribbon award at the 1997 Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance. Presented again at Pebble Beach in August 2004, the Berlinetta won a 3rd-in-class award before taking a Platinum trophy at the FCA International Concours. Following Mr Zambrano’s passing in May 2014, this exquisite and historically important 250 GT was offered for sale in August 2015, its first availability in 23 years. Purchased then by the consigning owner, the Ferrari has spent most of the last 10 years in controlled storage. In preparation for the current offering, the TdF was submitted to Ferrari Classiche for certification, where it has now been pronounced to remain extremely original, retaining its original matching-numbers engine, gearbox, rear axle, and bodywork, gaining Ferrari Classiche certification in January 2026. Delighted to revisit one of its most historically important thoroughbreds, Ferrari invited the car to be exhibited at the Ferrari Finali Mondiali races at Mugello in October 2025. Undoubtedly the most important of all the 250 GT Tour de France examples, this long-wheelbase Berlinetta should attract top-tier Ferrari collectors and connoisseurs worldwide, sure to crown the most significant collections. Chassis 0557 GT is the only known Ferrari to take victory in every race it entered in period, win a 1st-in-class at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and remain extremely original today. Furthermore, this very TdF gave the model its iconic nickname with its stunning victory in September 1956, a model name so important that it has been passed down to the highly popular modern limited production F12 TdF, making it a valuable foundation of Ferrari lore. The opportunity to own the very best example of any particular make or model rarely comes along and the most discerning collectors always take advantage to add the very best to their collection whenever possible. Make no mistake, this is a singular opportunity to purchase a Prancing Horse of nearly unparalleled importance. Throughout Ferrari’s rich history, this exact chassis is the only known car to single-handedly change the name of its own model range following a monumental victory in the period’s most challenging race. It has rightfully claimed its place among the greatest of all Ferraris to leave Maranello. 1956 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Berlinetta 'Tour de France' by Scaglietti RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Finished in Rosso Corsa over Beige Connolly leather and specified with the Fiorano handling pack, carbon bucket seats, four-point racing-style harnesses, plus a leather-trimmed roll cage: to all intents and purposes the Ferrari 550 Maranello offered here is a ‘World Speed Record’ edition made to celebrate the model setting a string of production car average speed records. However, the prized Swedish client that ordered this 550 Maranello was rather disappointed to miss out on one of the original 33 WSRs commissioned. As such, Ferrari swiftly pushed through this extra example. Please note, it does not feature a WSR commemorative plaque in the interior. The factory build record even states: “VERY URGENT CAR !!!!!!”. It was ultimately delivered new via Autoropa of Testvägen on 7 July 2000. Sweden’s sole licenced Ferrari importer continued to service the car through to March 2004, at which time it was logged with 38,002 kilometres. Subsequently acquired by the consigning owner in Finland, this fascinating 550 Maranello benefits from a most recent service in July 2024. - 1975-alfa-romeo-spider-2000-veloce-02
The Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Spiders were produced in four Series and originally penned by Pininfarina himself. It is arguably one of the most appealing Alfa Romeo designs to date and remained in production between 1966 and 1994. Our car is the second incarnation of the original design where the famous ‘Kamm Tail’ replaced the rounded design of the first series cars. Records we have confirm it is a matching numbers car and was manufactured on 17th December 1975 and sold in July 1976 by Frank Croft Motors in Sydney. This makes it one of the very last Spiders sold new in Australia. The body colour was Alfa Romeo Blu and the interior burgundy, which it still presents with today and is a particularly appealing colour combination. The provenance of this car is nothing short of exceptional. It comes with its original service logbook, sales receipt and full maintenance history with a thick folder of records and receipts. The current owner first purchased the car in 1988 and owned it for 10 years. During this time the car was fully restored. He then sold it in 1997. After some years he wished to buy it back and did just that and acquired it for a second time in 2009 where upon he embarked on a second full restoration to take the car to the ‘next level’. In addition to a complete bare metal respray it also included the fitment of a twin spark engine complete with air conditioning (which operates electrically rather than by belt). The original engine comes with the car. This new unit provides the car with useful lift in power and torque and the air conditioning means the car can now be driven on hotter days in comfort. Further to this the car was treated to suspension and handling modifications from Alfaholics including their signature ‘Superleggera’ GTA style 15” wheels. The work conducted was extensive and also encompassed a replacement Alfaholics steering box, Alfaholics stainless steel exhaust system and inlet manifold. The gearbox has been rebuilt along with the complete braking system. The work extended through the interior where the seats were re-upholstered, the dash refurbished, correct rubber mats fitted with a new hood amongst many other items. The list goes on and on….and totalled over $85,000 in investment (in addition to the purchase price of the car). The result is a car of the highest standard. The paint on the car has been applied extremely well, and the finish is nothing short of beautiful, particularly in this shade of blue. Crucially the panel gaps across the whole car are excellent and doors and boot close as they should with seals being correctly applied. Start the engine and you immediately know you are in an Alfa Romeo. The 2 litre Twin Spark engine fires up with that familiar growl and then you are away. Out on the open road this car drives without fault with plenty of go from the engine and pin sharp handling and braking. The engine bay is a highlight as you would expect from an example of this quality. The interior is a lovely place to be. The original wooden steering wheel greets the eye and the classic dash is very appealing. The instruments have been refurbished and are perfect. The dash has one small crack near the window, but this is out of eye line. All the switches are spot on. Wherever you look this car has been faithfully restored using either correct parts or refurbished originals. This included Jaeger water, oil pressure and fuel gauges, fuel sender, wiper and fan heater rocker switches, heater facia and trunking, horn badge and surround, gearbox gaiter, handbrake rubber, battery tray – the list goes on. The attention to detail is incredible. The new, correct type of mohair hood is fitted and is as new and the hood frame has been restored too. The boot is in excellent condition with fresh paint including to the wheel well which is the original. For the new owner this presents a wonderful opportunity to acquire a stunning example of an ever-popular Alfa Romeo which ticks all the boxes, provenance, condition and quality with the bonus of a Twin Spark power unit and air-conditioning. Work conducted on the car has been documented and carried out by the best in the business and it continues to be maintained by known specialists Beninca Motors in Melbourne who are available to provide references. Indeed, they have known the car for over 38 years (since undertaking a pre purchase inspection for the owner’s first purchase in 1988) and undertook all the mechanical work in the most recent restoration including the fitment of the Twin Spark unit, Alfaholics suspension and air-conditioning. This is a collector quality car and available for considerably less than it would require investing in a restoration to bring a car up to this standard. Over and above this is what sets it apart being its history and provenance and this makes the car truly special. 1975 Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 Veloce Сlassic Сar Market If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1965-ford-mustang-fastback-restomod
And with this particular example, that statement seems truer than ever. If Ken Miles had seen this Mustang, he would have undoubtedly said it was made for him. What once started as a neat 1965 Mustang Fastback has now evolved into something entirely different. No longer just a classic pony car, but more like a grizzly bear on steroids. A Fastback rebuilt from the ground up to absolute perfection. The story begins in Belgium, where the previous owner purchased the car as a bare body with parts. In 2021, it became an obsessive restoration project that ultimately cost over €125,000—and you can see the results everywhere. The body was completely stripped, and every single component, down to the last bolt and nut, was galvanized according to original specifications. Nothing was left untouched. Under the hood beats an incredibly powerful heart: a Ford 351 Small Block, stroked to 408 cubic inches—equivalent to 6.7 liters of pure aggression. This powerhouse was fully built by Performance Mustang in Hawaiian Gardens, California, and equipped with high compression, a Holley carburetor & fuel system, MSD ignition, an aluminum 3-row performance radiator, and a custom-built C4 automatic transmission. The result? Over 500 hp at the engine and more than 410 hp delivered to the road. And this kind of power demands respect. To keep this beast under control, the car had to be redesigned from the ground up. It now features a custom-built subframe, a heavy-duty rear axle, an Eaton High Performance Limited Slip Differential, disc brakes all around, and a custom double exhaust that growls like a grizzly waking from hibernation. Step inside, and you enter a cockpit where old-school charm meets modern craftsmanship. The entire interior is hand-trimmed in Alcantara, including stitching, custom floor panels, headliner, and fully period-correct Recaro seats. Not to mention the Kevlar hood. American-made performance wheels complete the look. With a comprehensive archive of restoration photos—enough to crash a computer—and all receipts, the documentation is complete. 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback Restomod Cool Classic Club If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1966-chevrolet-corvette-c2-427-sting-ray-convertible
The Chevrolet Corvette C2 was introduced in the summer of 1962 as the second generation of the Corvette under the name Sting Ray. The term ‘Sting Ray’ refers to the stingray in English. Unlike its successor, the Corvette C3, the name was still spelled with a space. For the first time, the Corvette was available as a coupé in addition to a convertible. The later legendary ‘Big Block’ V8 engines first appeared in 1965, initially with a displacement of 6.5 liters and, from 1966, with a displacement of 7.0 liters. Larry Shinoda (a US citizen with Japanese roots) designed the Sting Ray generation, which was built between 1963 and 1967, under GM design chief Bill Mitchell. Examples of the C2 with the ‘Big Block’ engine, available from 1965, can be recognized by the distinctive scoop on the bonnet. The so-called ‘L78’ engine required more space, which necessitated a bulge in the special bonnet. Another new feature was the rotating headlights, which were to become a regular feature in later models as pop-up headlights and only disappeared again in 2005 with the Corvette C6. This fantastic Sting Ray was built on 26 May 1966 and delivered to Dearing Chevrolet in Savannah, Georgia. Ordered with a 427 cui/425 hp V8, 4-speed transmission, Positrac rear axle, side exhaust system and center-lock wheels, the Corvette must have given its first owner a lot of pleasure. Apart from a copy of the delivery invoice, nothing is known about the early years of this powerful convertible. Three American owners are documented from 1993 onwards, before the Vette was imported to its first Swiss owner in 2013. At the end of 2022, the car was taken over by a well-known collector, who never registered it and hardly ever drove it. The C2 still has its matching-numbers original engine and is presented in the original colour combination of ‘Milano Maroon’ with black leatherette upholstery. Basically, the rare power convertible is in very good condition, but due to its long period of inactivity, a major service and a general check-up are certainly to be expected. The Sting Ray will be handed over to its next owner with FIVA ID and the latest veteran MOT completed in August 2020. 1966 Chevrolet Corvette C2 427 Sting Ray Convertible Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Produced in December 1986, chassis 30311 was sold by Ford Motorsport Company Limited on January 7, 1987 to Ford France SA, before being assigned to the R.E.D. UK team. It was delivered with French registration 6985 PM 92 and entered directly into international competition. Driven by Didier Auriol, the car competed in the 1987 Corsica and Sanremo Rallies, both counting toward the World Rally Championship. In Corsica, Auriol finished eighth overall, followed by an exceptional fourth place at Sanremo—results that surpassed expectations and underscored both driver and machine. Auriol would go on to win the 1987 French Rally Championship in this very car. At the conclusion of the 1988 season, chassis 30311 returned to R.E.D. UK, where it was rebuilt by team owner Pete Doughty. In 1991, the car competed in the Mazda Winter Rally, using UK registration C236 HVW, carried over from Doughty’s previous Sierra. Later that year, it was sold to Fenwick Stuart, who famously campaigned the car at the 1991 Condroz Rally, retaining the iconic “33 EXPORT” livery associated with its 1987 season. In 1998, the car was acquired by Corey Brian, who undertook a comprehensive restoration to original Group A specification, carefully preserving its period-correct configuration and competition character. The car remained in England for decades, passing through knowledgeable custodians, before being sold in 2022 by Darrell Taylor, its final UK-based owner. Today, chassis 30311 retains its original documentation, period service plans, and extensive historical records. It is currently registered in the UK as D299 UUJ and represents one of the most thoroughly documented and historically significant Sierra RS Cosworth Group A cars in existence. With direct factory provenance, World Championship history, and association with a future world champion, this Sierra stands as a cornerstone example of Ford’s Group A legacy. 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS Gr.A ISSIMI, Inc If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. In 1966, Ferrari introduced a larger version of the Colombo twelve-cylinder engine with a displacement of 4.4 liters and a bore that was four millimeters larger than its predecessor. The displacement of a single cylinder was now approximately 365 cubic centimeters. This value became the basis for the model designations of the vehicles equipped with this engine. As a result of the increase in displacement, the engine power rose to 320 hp. The engine made its debut in 1966 in the 365 California Spyder, a luxury convertible produced in very limited numbers, which featured a distinctive, sensational body designed by Tom Tjaarda. In a second step, Ferrari presented the 365 GT 2+2 in 1967 as a 2+2-seater variant of the model family. This was Ferrari's first four-seater road sports car with rear independent suspension. In view of its size and weight, the 365 GT 2+2 was also referred to in the press as the Queen Mary. The vehicle on offer, with chassis number 13221, was delivered probably to Italy in 1972 and imported to Switzerland in 1973, where it was registered in March of that year. The history of the Queen Mary is unknown until it was purchased by a Ferrari specialist in June 2012. Subsequently, the bodywork and interior were restored by Italian specialists Zanasi and Lupi – unfortunately, there is no documentation of the work, but the vehicle speaks for itself. The mechanics were checked in-house and overhauled where necessary. In the summer of 2025, the Ferrari was taken over by the consignor, who wishes to part with his Grand Tourismo for space reasons. The 365 is in very good condition, the engine runs very nicely, and the gearbox shifts well. The last veteran MOT took place in September 2025. 1972 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 «Queen Mary» Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. This rare Alfa Romeo Coupé (only around 1’000 examples were ever built) was handed over to its first owner from Basel through the Alfa Romeo Svizzera agency in Agno on the 14th September 1990. He frequently enjoyed his SZ no. 057 with its torquey 210 hp 3 litre V6 Busso designed engine until passing it on to the last keeper in 2014 within then 56‘000 kilometres driven. As can be seen in the full service booklet, the second owner cherished his car in the same way. In 2017 he had a (homologated!) TCPM stainless steel exhaust system installed. The last major service, which included a replacement of the cambelt and water pump as well as an overhaul of the hydraulic cambelt tensioners was completed by a well-known Alfa Romeo specialist in December 2020, at 60’417 kilometres. All maintenance records since 2014 are available and will be handed over together with the original document folder. This SZ has had only two owners, has now covered roughly 61’000 kilometres and is in very good condition with the last Veteran MOT completed in December 2020. 1990 Alfa Romeo SZ Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1955-porsche-356-speedster
This 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster is powered by a replacement 1.6-liter SC flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and is finished in ivory over black leather. Equipment includes a black canvas soft top, 15? steel wheels, body-color bumpers, and fixed-back bucket seats. This Speedster was purchased by the current owner in 2021 and is now offered on dealer consignment as part of the Mohr Imports Car Week Collection: Postcards from Monterey with a spare engine, manufacturer’s literature, a copy of the Kardex, a tool kit, black California license plates, side curtains, and a clean California title. The body is finished in ivory and features a removable black canvas soft top, removable side curtains, mesh headlight grilles, a single decklid grille, driving lights, and body-color bumpers. The 15? ventilated steel wheels wear Porsche-crested hubcaps and are mounted with Michelin XWX tires. The car was factory equipped with drum brakes at each corner. The fixed-back bucket seats are upholstered in black leather, and interior appointments include charcoal square-weave carpets, a passenger-side grab handle, a Deutsche Sportwagen Meisterschaften dash badge, and a body-color painted dashboard. The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and an oil temperature gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 551 miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. The seller states the mileage is not accurate, and total mileage is unknown. The replacement 1.6-liter flat-four was sourced from a 1964 356SC and installed some time ago. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. A spare flat-four engine accompanies the vehicle, and stamping 34589 is shown in the gallery. 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster Mohr Imports, Inc. Mohr Imports is proud to present this exceptional numbers-matching 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster, finished in its original factory-correct Ruby Red (5702) over a Black interior (B). According to the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this Speedster was completed on April 15, 1957, and retains its matching engine and transmission, deck lids and doors — a testament to its originality and authenticity. One of only 590 356A T1 Speedsters produced in 1957, this Speedster underwent a high-quality restoration prior to its acquisition by European Collectibles of Costa Mesa, CA in the summer of 2004. The comprehensive restoration included a complete disassembly of the car, body preparation down to bare metal, and a show-quality paint finish in its original Ruby Red. The undercarriage, trunk, and engine bay were meticulously detailed to factory specifications. During reassembly, all new rubber components were installed along with a new windshield, restored instruments, reupholstered seats, and a fresh soft top. The brightwork was re-plated, polished, and reinstalled, ensuring the car’s presentation met concours standards. The engine, transmission, steering, suspension, and brakes were all professionally rebuilt and fully detailed. After its restoration, European Collectibles sold this Speedster to a local client who proudly showcased it at the Dana Point Concours the following month. Since then, the car has been consistently maintained, with European Collectibles performing minor enhancements and preservation work to ensure it remains in top condition. Powered by its original 1600 Normal (60 horsepower) engine paired with a 644 manual 4-speed transmission and four-wheel drum brakes, this Speedster delivers an engaging and authentic driving experience. Other appointments include headlight stone guards, gold badges, a Reutter badge attached to the right-front fender, a low windshield, body-color bumpers with chrome overriders, a single side-view mirror, teardrop taillights, dual exhaust outlets, and a single engine lid vent. Presented in remarkable condition, this Ruby Red Speedster is offered with tools, a jack, owner’s manual, spare tire, side curtains, boot cover, and its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, framed and showing its matching numbers engine and gearbox stampings. Very rare in today's standards as one of only 590 356A T1 Speedsters produced in 1957. A beautifully restored and meticulously maintained example, this 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster is a standout opportunity for collectors and driving enthusiasts alike. Ready for spirited drives with the Porsche Club of America, concours-level exhibitions, or prestigious gatherings like Luftgekühlt and Air|Water. - 1966-porsche-906-1
Although incorporating certain lessons learned from the preceding 904 GTS programme, Porsche’s new-for-1966 906 model–officially designated the Carrera 6–was notably divergent in its mechanical composition. Whereas the 904 employed a ladder chassis with a bonded fibreglass body, the 906 used a more conventional multi-tubular frame, clothed in unstressed fibreglass of nominal thickness to minimise weight. Some 65 chassis would be constructed, of which 52 were fitted with 2-litre, six-cylinder carburettor engines, nine equipped with fuel injection and four with experimental 2.2-litre eight-cylinder motors. Significantly, in customer specification, the new car offered a weight reduction of some 200 pounds relative to the outgoing 904. Competition success was immediate, with a 2-litre class win–and sixth overall–achieved on debut in the Daytona 24 Hours, with further class wins forthcoming in the Sebring 12 Hours and at the Monza, Spa, Nürburgring and Paris 1,000 Kilometre races. If, inexplicably, there was any doubt as to the new car’s abilities, then outright victories at the Targa Florio and Circuito del Mugello–not to mention fourth overall and the almost inevitable class win at Le Mans–surely put these to rest. Indeed over the next two seasons, until its replacement with the 910, the 906 became arguably the most accomplished and versatile of all two-litre Sports Racing cars. The car offered here, chassis 906-115, was completed at Zuffenhausen on 9 March 1966, to the order of keen Italian amateur racer and hillclimber Ermanno Spazzapan. Invariably competing under the pseudonym of “Mann”, Spazzapan enjoyed a strong affiliation with Porsche, having previously campaigned both a 356B 2000GS and a 356 Carrera Abarth GTL in Italian domestic events in 1964 and 1965. However, his purchase of 906-115 in the Spring of 1966 represented not only his first known experience of a Sports Prototype, but also a significant step up in terms of performance. As with other customer specification 906s, 906-115 was fitted with a six-cylinder Type-901/20 engine, which employed a sand-cast magnesium elektron crankcase, forged steel crankshaft, titanium connecting rods, forged alloy pistons and dry-sump lubrication. A compression ratio of 10.3:1 afforded a power output of some 210 horsepower at 8,000 rpm, while a five-speed Type-906/1 gearbox transmitted this to the road. “Mann” made his debut in 906-115 at the Stallavena-Boscochiesanuova hillclimb on 17 April, in which he finished second in class in the over-2000cc Sports Racing car class. The remainder of the season encompassed some nine further events–eight hillclimbs and one race–and the pair became a regular sight on the Italian hillclimb scene. The Antignano-Monte Burrone round in June represented the season’s highlight, with an outright win, while the event from Spazzapan’s hometown of Vittorio Veneto, in Treviso, to Consoglio yielded a noteworthy second place overall. Third place finishes were also achieved at Cividale-Castelmonte, Bolzano-Mendola and at the Coppa Alpe del Nevegal, while the season’s sole circuit-based event saw the pair finish second in class at the Coppa Agip at Vallelunga, behind the victorious sister 906 of “Noris”. However, after only a single season of ownership, Spazzapan opted to sell 906-115 to his fellow countryman Ennio Bonomelli in early 1967. The latter would later emerge as something of a Porsche specialist, driving a variety of models including a 908/03, 910 and 911 RSR, and winning the 1968 Italian GT Championship in a 911S, yet it appears that he drove 906-115 on only three occasions, each of which were hillclimbs. Instead, the car was primarily entrusted to Antonio Zadra–occasionally known by his pseudonym of “Khandaru”–and Giuseppe Dalla Torre. The car’s race debut under its new ownership came in a 20-lap Unlimited Sports Car race at Innsbruck in May 1967, although regrettably its finishing position is unknown. Next, however, was the altogether more serious prospect of the 500 kilometres of Mugello; then a round of the World Sportscar Championship. Held on the daunting 66.2 kilometre road circuit, the event attracted no less than 111 entries, including two factory-entered Porsche 910s for Schütz/ Mitter and Neerpasch/ Stommelen, two Scuderia Ferrari 206 Dino Competiziones for Scarfiotti/ Vaccarella and Klass/ Williams, and three Autodelta Alfa Romeo T33s. At the conclusion of the gruelling 8-lap, near four-and-a-half hour race, Schütz and Mitter prevailed–with their 910-mounted teammates second and the Prototype-class Porsche 911R of Elford and van Lennep third. However, “Khandaru” and Dalla Torre drove superbly to finish tenth overall and third in class; beaten only in their category by the similar 906s of Cella/ Biscaldi and Nicodemi/ Facetti. A little over a month later, “Khandaru” drove the car to a fine 14th overall and seventh in class at the Ollon-Villars hillclimb, while the season rounded off at Aspern, in Austria, in early October. There, a high quality entry for the 40-lap Sports Car race included the likes of Dieter Quester and Peter Schetty–in works BMW and Abarth respectively–but “Khandaru” and 906-115 acquitted themselves admirably, finishing ninth overall and third in the 2-litre class. Intriguingly, the 1968 season was scheduled to start with an entry into the Nürburgring 1,000 kilometres–once again with “Khandaru” and Dalla Torre driving–but evidently 906-115 failed to appear. However, in late-June, it contested the Coppa Gallenga at Vallelunga, where “Khandaru” finished a fine third overall and first in class behind the Ferrari 206S Dino of Ferdiando Latteri and the Porsche 910 of Antonio Nicodemi. Disappointingly, a return to the Circuito del Mugello in late July proved frustrating for the car’s customary pilots, ending as it did in an early retirement. Arguably 906-115’s finest hour came in the Imola 500 kilometres, held at the scenic Emilia-Romagna circuit in September 1968. A fine race entry included three privately-entered Porsche 910s–one of which was to be shared by factory driver Vic Elford–and three Autodelta Alfa Romeo T33/2s driven by the all-star team of Vaccarella/Zeccoli, Giunti/Galli and Casoni/Dini. Once again “Khandaru” and Dalla Torre were paired in the car; both drivers and car excelling to finish a fine fourth overall–and first in class–behind the three Alfas. The car’s final contemporary race season concluded in Austria with races on consecutive weekends in Aspern and Innsbruck, in early October. Ranged against some of the most respected Sportscar drivers of the day–including Merzario, Marko and Hezemans–Zadra finished a respectable ninth, and third in class, in Aspern and seventh–fifth in the 2-litre class–in Innsbruck. The rapidly changing Sports Prototype landscape of the late 1960s–and in particular the increasingly important role of aerodynamics–rendered both the 906 and many of its Group 4 contemporaries increasingly uncompetitive in International Sportscar racing. However, the 1970s saw burgeoning interest in newly-designated “Historic” racing cars and, against this backdrop, 906-115 was subsequently located and purchased by Bergamo-based enthusiast and broker Corrado Cupellini. Having retained ownership for several years, Cupellini sold 906-115 to German Porsche luminary Bernd Becker in 1977; the car representing a fitting stablemate for the latter’s ex-Ben Pon 910. Becker would retain 906-115 for almost a quarter of a century, regularly racing the car throughout Europe and, on occasions, in South Africa, until its sale to German-based brokers PS Automobile in 2001. In their custody, 906-115 was subjected to a comprehensive rebuild; the retention of its original GRP panels, engine and gearbox all being noted at this time. Duly completed and returned to its original colour of Grand Prix White, 906-115 reappeared in the 2002 Tour Auto, before being sold to Frenchman Alain Salat in 2004. In his custody, the car contested the Tour Auto again, prior to its acquisition by an anonymous French collector in 2007, and subsequent purchase by Swiss-based collector Carlo Perego in 2014. The latter retained the car for some seven years, before selling it to the most recent previous owner in 2020. In his custody, 906-115 has been fastidiously maintained by marque experts Road Scholars of Durham, NC, at a cost of over $60,000. This has included–but is not restricted to–rebuilds of the carburettors and steering rack, the replacement of the rear crankshaft oil seal, clutch and front suspension ball joints, and the performance of general engine calibration work. Remarkably, in September 2020, the car joined 906-109, 906-110 and 906-158 for a memorable 300-mile road trip between Vail and Aspen, Colorado; the dramatic scenery of the Rockies providing an appropriately Alpine context in which to celebrate 906-115’s formative years. With the current owner, the car’s original windscreen was replaced due to a crack, but has been retained for safe keeping. Highly accomplished, reassuringly uncomplicated and commendably practical, the Porsche 906 remains one of the greatest of all competitive all-rounders–not to mention perhaps the supreme giant-killer. Furthermore, its sheer versatility renders it ideally suited to–and highly eligible for–some of the world’s greatest historic events. In the case of 906-115, these attributes are further supplemented by its fascinating competition history and truly extraordinary originality. Indeed, the latter is confirmed by the retention of both its original engine and gearbox–serial numbers 906-113 and 906-110 respectively–as at the time of cataloguing, despite the passage of almost six decades, and a fascinatingly varied competition career. 1966 Porsche 906 RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
