  • 1965-bizzarrini-5300-gt-2

This is a genuine, early Bizzarrini which was inspected by Jack Koobs de Hartog, who is very much a recognised expert on Bizzarrinis and has written several books on the cars. The car was built at the end of 1965 when Piero Rivolta and Bizzarrini fell out and therefore, although much of the car would have been built alongside other ISO A3/C s, it was originally badged as a Bizzarrini. This example is 1 of just 12 of a total of 73 5300 GTs built with a lightweight aluminium body and De-Dion rear suspension. These cars were one of the first to pair the Italian prowess and sophistication with the brute of an American-sourced powerplant. With known ownership from new, this Bizzarrini was supplied new the USA where it remained until 2002. Supplied new by Bizzarrini to the USA 2nd Owner - Carey Loftin - LA 3rd Owner - Bill DeCarr - LA 4th Owner - Rudy Klein - LA 5th Owner - Ron Spindler - LA 6th Owner - Scott Stupay - Virginia 7th Owner – Jamie McIntyre - UK This example has recently been treated to a full recommissioning by specialist preparers, Pursuit, to match the specification of the first ISO A3/C Corsa; a car which, unlike the Bizzarrini-badged cars, raced in early 1964. This was an important factor; as the car needed to be able to gain entry to Goodwood. It is also worth noting that all original parts that were removed during the rebuild have been carefully retained, including all interior trim and brightwork. There are disc brakes all round, independent front suspension and a De-Dion rear axle. The engine BHP has been reduced from just over 470bhp to 448bhp in favour of a more linear curve and increased torque. As such, the car is eligible for numerous events during the racing calendar, including the Goodwood TT, the Spa Six Hours and the Masters historic racing series where it would be without doubt a front runner in the right hands. The restoration process included a distinct focus on weight-saving where possible, with the outcome being a reduction of over 30kgs. A bespoke, inconel, silenced exhaust system was developed and fitted. Amends were made to the car to ensure it conformed to HTP regulations and tipping the scales at a scant 1,098kg, it meets the minimum homologated weight. Accompanying the car are a large number of documents and photographs of the rebuild and of the car in its dismantled state. Post restoration laps at Goodwood saw the car set a time that would have put it on pole for Goodwood TT only a few weeks later As well as a full gearbox and differential refresh, the overhaul included engine dyno testing, damper testing, a brake rebuild and subsequent testing to ensure this example is ready to race. This Bizzarrini presents today once more in it period livery and available to view by appointment immediately. HTP papers are in process and will be supplied with the car 1965 Bizzarrini 5300 GT D.K. • 1965-ferrari-500-superfast-series-I-by-pininfarina

THE 500 SUPERFAST Initially coined for a series of show cars and concepts, Ferrari’s “Superfast” nomenclature was finally applied to a production vehicle in 1964 with the introduction of the 500 Superfast. Conceived as a luxurious, exclusive grand touring saloon, the new model was for all intents and purposes the ultimate development of Ferrari’s flagship Superamerica model. While the Superfast coachwork was clearly developed from the outgoing 400 Superamerica Coupe Aerodinamico, the Tipo 578/65 chassis was derived from the 330 GT 2+2, ensuring the luxurious ride quality of a long wheelbase. These dimensions were maximized with the removal of any rear seating, providing a remarkably roomy and elegant interior. Luxury amenities included power windows and steering, sumptuous leather upholstery, and a teak-accented dashboard. The Superfast’s 4,963-cubic-centimeter Tipo 208 V-12 was an extremely unique engine for Ferrari, combining elements of the Lampredi-designed tall-block racing engine and the long-running Colombo-designed short-block motor. Capable of developing 400 horsepower, this engine was described by the noted marque historian Hans Tanner as “one of the most powerful Ferrari GT engines ever constructed.” Unveiled at the 1964 Geneva International Motor Show, the 500 Superfast was built in a limited quantity of just 36 examples through late 1966. As the flagship Ferrari grand touring model of its era, the 500 Superfast enjoyed ownership by jet-set luminaries such as the Aga Khan, Barbara Hutton, the Shah of Iran, and Peter Sellers. Claiming rarity, breathtaking aesthetics, and unprecedented road-car performance thanks to its prodigious 400-horsepower 4.9-liter engine, the 500 Superfast was the ultimate expression of the Superamerica series. The highly collectable cars are now found at the center of some of the world’s most exclusive and respected stables…as they were when new. CHASSIS NUMBER 6303SF The 14th of 25 Series I Superfasts built, chassis number 6303SF was ordered in the spring of 1965 by the famed British Ferrari importers Maranello Concessionaires. It was equipped to the latest specification, with the recently introduced five-speed gearbox, three air ducts on the front fenders, and circular Carello turn signal lights, and was, interestingly, specified as a full two-seater, without the “occasional” rear seat, a very sporting configuration. Further, it was built to left-hand-drive, indicating its first owner intended to use it largely abroad. At its completion the Superfast was delivered through Maranello Concessionaires’ auspices that August to George P. Livanos, the shipping magnate who maintained the largest merchant navy in Greece, and whose son, Peter, would be a well-known and astute enthusiast in his own right, eventually becoming a majority shareholder of Aston Martin. Mr. Livanos’s Ferrari was serviced at the Assistenza Clienti in Maranello in September 1965 and June 1967—by the latter, it was being kept at its owner’s residence in Gstaad. In 1969 the car moved across the Atlantic when it was sold to its second owner, John Calley of Burbank, California, former president of Warner Brothers and a renowned sports car enthusiast and collector. Mr. Calley kept the Ferrari for three years, then sold it to Bud Pessin of Archway Motor Imports in Manchester, Missouri, who passed it in 1974 to Richard McEntyre of San Diego. Mr. McEntyre would be a very long-term caretaker of his 500 Superfast, eventually undertaking a restoration in the hands of Harold White of Fallbrook, California, between 2000 and 2004. With the restoration completed, the car was sold in 2005 and passed into the hands of Weston A. Hook of La Jolla, who displayed it at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in 2007. Chassis number 6323SF remained in Mr. Hook’s care until 2010, then was acquired by a collector in Belgium, from whom the present owner, a longtime and devoted Ferrari connoisseur, purchased it a decade ago. More recently a complete fresh restoration was performed by the noted marque specialists, Fast Cars Ltd. of Redondo Beach, California, with the Superfast finished as-original in Blu Notte over Naturale leather interior, and retaining its numbers-matching major components including engine and gearbox, as confirmed in the Ferrari Classiche binder. It is presented today still in beautiful overall condition, from stem to stern, worthy of being appreciated by the most devout tifoso—the same type of man who would have carefully specified his 500 Superfast in 1965. 1965 Ferrari 500 Superfast Series I by Pininfarina RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1963 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider by Carrozzeria Touring

The Alfa Romeo 2600 (designated 106-Series) was Alfa Romeo's six-cylinder flagship model produced from 1962 through to 1968. It was the successor to the Alfa Romeo 2000 and has become historically significant as the last Alfa Romeo to have been fitted with an inline six-cylinder engine with twin overhead camshafts which had been the traditional Alfa Romeo engine configuration since the 1920s. The 2600 models were first introduced in 1962 in Berlinetta (saloon), Sprint (coupé) and Spider (convertible) forms and the 2,584cc straight-six produced around 145bhp and 156lb/ft of torque, which was certainly enough to let you drive like an Italian. Power was fed to the rear wheels via a 5-speed gearbox and was kept in check by all-round coil-sprung suspension and servo-assisted disc/drum brakes. Rarest of the two high-performance variants was the Touring-bodied Spider, a total of 2,255 being produced between 1962 and 1965. The strikingly good looking four-seat Spider was marketed as a 'fast tourer' rather than an out-and-out sports car, which is exactly what Alfa had in mind. Today, this rare and hitherto under-appreciated model is becoming increasingly sought after by Classic Alfa enthusiasts. Factory-built, right-hand drive, 2600 Spiders cars were only available after 1964 and prior to that, bespoke conversion to right-hand drive for UK-cars was the sole prerogative of Worthing-based Ruddspeed. Ken Rudd was an established competition driver, a talented engineer and his name became associated with AC, Aston Martin, Austin-Healy, Volvo, Alfa and later converting Ford Mustangs to right-hand drive. During the late 1950s/early 1960s, he was an agent for Alfa Romeo and was tasked by the factory with the conversion to right-hand drive of any Alfas destined for the UK. The Touring-bodied 2600 Spider was a rare car anyway and it is thought that only a handful passed through Ruddspeed's workshops, including the beautiful example on offer here which was subsequently delivered on 24th April 1963 to its first owner, a Mr David Graham of Chelmsford. The car's extensive history file contains a substantial amount of servicing and restoration invoices accumulated by its various owners, confirming that this rare right-hand drive example has benefited from much care and attention over the years. Originally finished in Bianco Antico, it spent many years wearing Alfa Rosso before finally being returned to Alfa White prior to our vendor's purchase in 2016. Since then, it has benefited from an extensive renovation over a three year period, carried out by marque specialists, K & L Autos of Golders Green and Century Classics of Hungerford, with additional work by Benalfa of Westbury and our vendor's own in-house mechanic. The engine has been fully serviced twice during his ownership and we understand that over £15,000 has been invested to keep the car in top form including a recent paint refresh. As part of a large private Collection, the Alfa has been used lightly over the last few years but according to our vendor 'It's a great GT car, eating up the miles whether on a motorway or country roads and the five-speed 'box is a delight'. In addition to the numerous invoices, the history file contains a photocopy of the old 'buff' logbook, its V5C, current MOT and a factory workshop manual. Late 1950s and early 1960s Alfas have a unique sense of magic and romance and this elegant creation by Carrozzeria Touring represents La Dolce Vita, the Via Veneto and Audrey Hepburn personified. To quote from a piece by a well known Alfa collector 'Imagine it's a balmy, late July, Sunday evening in central Rome and you pull up in this sparkling Alfa right outside the Doney Café on the Via Veneto, hoping to enjoy some of Maria Foglieni's famous Cantuccini Biscotti and a glass of Vin Santo. The Alfa ticks and pings as it cools and the yellow street lights are reflected in its gleaming white coachwork, much to the delight of the laughing and chattering beautiful people as they pass on the way up the Via Vittorio making the most of the last hours of their Roman weekend'. 1963 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider by Carrozzeria Touring Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1998 Ferrari 550 Maranello 1

This 1998 Ferrari 550 Maranello is finished in Argento Nurburgring and shows 66,850 km on the odometer. The 550 Maranello’s design is intended to be evocative of Ferrari’s greatest hits from the 1960s and 1970s while still providing outstanding aerodynamic efficiency and stability. With numerous cues from the 275 GTB and 365 GTB/4, the Maranello was a classic when it was first shown and has aged beautifully in the 27 years since. Although the basic architecture for the 550 Maranello was shared with the 4-Seat 456 GT, 100mm were cut from the wheelbase, and power increased significantly. The interior of the 550 Maranello is beautiful in its simplicity, and one of the last truly timeless interior designs from Ferrari before screens became an integral part of the experience. This example is fitted with a deep red-brown leather known as Pelle, accented with lighter brown carpeting throughout the cabin. A pair of nicely bolstered bucket seats are extremely comfortable for long-distance driving but will also hold you in place when the road gets twisty. In front of the driver, a 3-spoke steering wheel frames a simple gauge pod with a tachometer, speedometer, oil pressure, and water temperature- while three other gauges sit in a pod atop the dashboard to your right. Behind you is a sizable parcel shelf that is perfect for carrying overnight bags for a weekend away. Powering the 550 Maranello is a 5.5 liter V12 with dual overhead cams and 4-valves per cylinder rated at 478 horsepower and 419 lb-ft of torque. This engine is known to be one of the more dependable engines to come out of Ferrari and does not require engine out servicing like the mid-engine cars of the same time period. In all 550s, the only available gearbox is a 6-speed manual transaxle that sends power to the rear wheels. Starting with the 575M in 2002, the F1 gearbox became the almost universal choice for front-engine V12 Ferraris, making the 550 truly the end of the classic era of Ferrari. When a car combines timeless beauty and outstanding performance, you know that the car that results is bound to become a classic. Now that the 550 Maranello is more than 25 years old, it has achieved classic status but thanks to its modern technology, it can be used every day without worry. 1998 Ferrari 550 Maranello ISSIMI, Inc If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1975-chevron-b29-formula-2

Ex-Brian Redman with BMW M12 power. Comprehensively restored without regards to cost by J&L Fabrication Chevron was one of the most innovative and successful race car companies ever assembled. Built from the ground up by self-taught engineering genius Derek Bennett, it was, despite humble beginnings and minimal finances, immediately profitable. Unlike many experts in the complex and often costly world of motorsports racing, Bennett lacked specialized engineering training, a college degree, and marketing savvy. His expertise, however, evolved from his combined fascination with aircraft and racing, derived primarily from his daring experiments and short-lived apprenticeships in a range of fabrication shops. A bootstrapped start-up long before the term was coined, Chevron thrived on the facile and clever efforts of just a few staff members, quickly amassing race wins in every category entered, right up to Formula One, where a promising car was planned but never completed. Chevron’s best and most successful cars were 2.0L Sports Racers. Along with Lola, Chevron cars were among the most competitive small bore sports racings cars of the 1970s, leveraging their lightweight and durable chassis construction with proven engines and astutely designed aerodynamic bodies. Both Chevron and Lola essentially dominated sprint and endurance 2.0L sports car racing, with Chevron winning their class at the famed 24 hours of Le Mans three times: 1974 (B23), 1979, and 1980 (B36). History and Build Details of this Chevron Both the Chevron B25 and B27 had sold in strong numbers, so the B29 became a logical improved iteration of this successfully refined configuration. Of the three markets available to suit the B29, Chevron would construct just five cars for Formula 2, Europe. This car, chassis number 29-75-30, a late season works development car, was constructed for Hans Binder and was initially powered by a BMW engine. Once completed, the works car was test driven by Brian Redman and delivered to Jorg Obermoser, Team Warsteiner Eurorace. Binder would drive the car in Formula 2, powered by a Rosche BMW engine. In 1976 Brain Redman would race at the New Zealand Internationals as part of the Fred Opert team. In late 1976, the car was sold to David Oxton, New Zealand, and raced in the New Zealand Formula Pacific series powered by a Formula Pacific BDA engine through 1979. From 1979-1984 William Kelly and Gary Lang, NZ, would compete in international races. The car would subsequently move to Chris Read ownership in 1984. Read would retain the car until 1991 when it was sold to Kenny Smith, then Brian Sampson (1992-2000), Peter Whelan (2000), Miles Jackson (2008) and then displayed at the World of Speed Museum, Wilsonville, OR until August 2016. Driven by Hans Binder, Brian Redman, David Oxton, Eric Morgan, and Chris Read, the inaugural race, August 31, 1975, at Silverstone would be the first of 44 total recorded races. Build Details and Recent Preparation Among the many mechanical features of the car, the BMW engine runs a factory original BMW cylinder head, FGA transmission, Hewland differential, Cam and Pawl LSD, magnafluxed suspension and steering (2010), Koni shock absorbers, original type 4 aluminum caliper Lockheed 10” and 11” steel disc brakes, and 23-13 x 13 rear, 20-9.5 x 13 front wheels. In 2009, the engine was comprehensively rebuilt by VDS engines totaling over $53,000.00 (invoice included with documentation). Work performed included rebuild and flow test for the Kugelfischer fuel system, Quarter Master 7 1⁄4'' clutch, a new aluminum timing gear cover, Laggerplatte intermediate bearing plate, new pistons and connecting rods, new seals, new water pump driven pulley, new fuel lines, new inlet trumpets, cylinder bore, sodium dichromate magnesium components, cylinder head resurfacing, magnetic particle inspection, and dyno testing. In addition to the extensive engine rebuild, Taylor Race Engineering, Inc., Plano, TX rebuild the FGA transaxle ($11,000 invoice, 2009), a set of front and rear wheels purchased from Chevron Cars ($3,400) were purchased (two spare sets are included), BMW fuel injection pump and 4 injectors ($12,000), and numerous other invoices completing the rebuild to a very high standard. From 2020-2022 J&L Fabricating, Puyallup, WA prepared the car further including the installation of new Willans 6-point racing harness, two new batteries, a new custom fitted seat, chassis dyno including camber alignment and corner weights, new fire bottle (2020), gearing set up for Ridge Seattle, trackside support, new Avon and GoodYear tires (May 2020), polish and nickel plate for new roll bar and down bars, install new roll bar, duplicate left and right fuel cells ($4,600), install Chevron supplied engine cover, wing pylon, and airbox, new vented front brake rotors and four new dog rings (2021), along with the fabrication of numerous parts, specialized details, and preparation for racing. Current Condition Overview Today this Chevron offers exemplary presentation with excellent paint and beautifully finished competition livery. The car has been restored to a very high standard both cosmetically and mechanically with only minor evidence of track use evident on the body. The racing livery is reflective of the 1976 Peter Stuyvesant Series when piloted by Brian Redman where he finished 2nd behind Australian Max Stewart’s Lola T400. The clean white paint scheme offers a fresh perspective on the advanced aerodynamics devised during this experimental period before computer analysis. The lightweight fiberglass bodywork sits low and tight to the chassis with the center post mounted rear wing perched well behind the rear axle. The sophisticated bodywork includes a side intake scoop feeding the fuel injected engine, a dramatic low front air dam, and a softly articulated engine cover to facilitate proper airflow. The cosmetic condition of the paint and lettering is very high quality with great gloss and vivid colors. Inside, the cockpit is clean, simple, and properly composed, including a custom formed racing seat, up to date 6-point restraint system, and a proper fire system (bottle replaced 2020) all of which confidently present the high quality of work performed on this car. The car sits on a set of staggered size Chevron supplied wheels shod with Good Year racing tires. The cockpit has been recently updated with a newly fitted roll bar and down bars. Under the lightweight body sections, the well-prepared frame and suspension have been thoughtfully tested, serviced, and restored with attention to detail including the use of high-quality materials, updated fasteners and hardware, and durable race-proven finishes. The entire engine compartment has been professionally finished with attention to cosmetic presentation and mechanical excellence. Everything from the Kugelfischer fuel delivery system, electrical components, suspension, and brakes have been tested and reassembled with care and accuracy. As indicated on the Hobbs quartz hour meter, the BMW engine has logged 72.6 hours since the engine was rebuilt. Beautifully prepared by passionate experts and dedicated ownership, this BMW powered M12 B29 race car offers notable documented history from new.
