- 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 1
With a known history from day one, this particular Sierra Cosworth, ‘D64 XVX’, arrived with Aston Martin Tickford Limited on the 22nd April 1987 and left as a fully fledged RS500 on the 23 June 1987, believed to be the 13th produced, prior to being immediately road registered by its first custodian/keeper, the Ford Motor Company of Eagle Way in Brentford. It remained with Ford for the following twelve months and was pressed into service as a press/promotional vehicle illustrated by its appearance in What Car magazine (September 1987) within an article entitled ‘Ford’s 500’, a copy of which will accompany the vehicle. Once duties with Ford were completed, the Sierra changed hands arriving with its second and current owner on the first of June 1988. His intention was to use the car for promotional purposes once again, however, after some twelve months, work commitments dictated a move abroad and the RS500 was placed into storage, on stands, with wheels removed and covers in place, and there it has remained until this very day. Within the knowledgeable RS500 community, the car was thought to have disappeared many years ago although a number of attempts to trace it were made over the years without success. With the upsurge in interest in these rare cars, the decision was recently made by our vendor to find a new custodian for the increasingly desirable 80s homologation special, with it seeing light of day for the very first time since being interred all those years ago. With wheels refitted and covers removed, the Sierra rolled freely out of the garage to facilitate the photo shoot which accompanies this listing with the condition externally and internally being exceptional with no obvious deterioration. It is simply quite remarkable and should be considered as a 'benchmark' example with an incredibly low and warranted 12,530 miles from new. After much consideration, the decision has been made to offer D64 XVX exactly as it rolled out of storage after 32 years with no attempt being made to start, run or enhance the vehicle in any way so it should be noted that, if the new owner’s intention is to put the Sierra back on the road, a full recommissioning will be required. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the opportunity on offer. 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1965 Shelby Cobra 289
Of all the great 1960s sports cars, few are as influential or as infamous as the legendary Shelby Cobra. A fortunate partnership between AC and their lightweight British sports car and Le Mans-winning driver Carroll Shelby resulted in the latest Ford lightweight V-8 sitting in the European fettled chassis of the Ace. The result of this transplant contributed enormously to Ford’s motorsport dominance of International Sports Car racing during the late 1960s. European chassis dynamics partnered with the power of the new V-8 meant that in competition trim, Cobras achieved an impressive record. The 260ci (4.2-litre) prototype first ran in January 1962, with production commencing later that year. Exclusively for the USA initially, Cobras - minus engines - were sent from England to be finished off by Shelby in California, and it was not until late in 1963 that AC Cars in Thames Ditton got around to building the first fully finished cars to European specification. After 75 cars had been built, the 289ci (4.7-litre) unit was standardised in 1963. Rack-and-pinion steering was the next major up-date; then in 1965 a new, stronger, coil-suspended chassis was introduced to accommodate Ford's 427ci (7.0-litre) V8, an engine that in race trim was capable of producing well in excess of 400bhp. Wider bodywork, extended wheelarch flares and a bigger radiator intake combined to create the definitive - and much copied - Cobra 427 look. This 1965 specification Shelby Cobra 289 was built by UK racing Cobra specialist Steve Gilbey, clearly using only the very best components available with no expense spared. Equipped with latest and highly competitive FIA specification 289 Cobra race engine built by Steve Warrior. The power is driven to the rear wheels by an equally capable competition T10 gearbox by another UK based Cobra specialist, Gary Spencer, who is also responsible for the high-quality uprights, hubs, sub axles and leaf springs fitted on the car. At the corners of the car, the wheels and brakes were supplied by Crosswaite & Gardener, who were additionally responsible for the diff casing. Presenting in the attractive specification of Blu Genziana metallic (a Ferrari colour), complimented by the centre white stripes, the paintwork was entirely bespoke, costing over £10k and was completed by Normadale. It’s not just the specification that was adapted to mirror this period example, in fact, a further £25k was spent with Lawrence Kett of GA Fabrications on bespoke bodywork modifications to mirror the exact specification of the Willment Racing Team 1964 Goodwood Tourist Trophy entry, even including the Le Mans hardtop. The chassis and aluminium bodywork were provided by Kirkham. Inside of the car, the interior is complimented by a gorgeous blue corduroy fabric in the centre of the lightweight Tillet racing seats (driver & passenger) and blue leatherette on the remainder of the seat. Also equipped is of course the roll cage, built by Andy Robinson, and additionally is equipped with VBOX Video HD2, Monit G200 GPS rally computer and Stilo DG-10 noise cancelling intercom system making the car ready for rallies such as the Tour Auto and Modena Cento Ore. The specification list is remarkable and going to the fine details such an aircraft quality wiring loom, by Adrian Butt, shows just how much care was taken into the build of this car. The build was finished in April of 2021 and since then has only seen 6.5 hours of test running. The additional spares complimenting the car is as follows; oil cooler, clutch kit, drive shaft, 4x wheels fitted with tyres, brake ducts, and both silenced and unsilenced systems by ELWELD. Presenting on the button with fresh HTP papers, valid until 31.12.2033, this stunning creation of the ever-famous Cobra is ready to be enjoyed on the track by its next custodian and is physically available to view by appointment here at our showrooms just outside of London. 1965 Shelby Cobra 289 D.K. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright Of all the great 1960s sports cars, few are as influential or as infamous as the legendary Shelby Cobra. - 1961-lotus-elite-series-2
A little over 1,000 examples of Colin Chapman’s groundbreaking glass fibre-monocoque Type 14 Lotus Elite were ever built, only a handful of which were exported to Japan. Chassis number EB1321837 was one of three to make that journey in 1961, having been invoiced to the Fuyo Trading Co Ltd on 23 August 1961, according to factory records. Its first owner in Japan was none other than Soichiro Honda, founder of the eponymous Honda Motor Company. “The Elite was like an egg—a world first,” explained Hirotoshi Honda, son of Soichiro and founder of the firm’s tuning arm Mugen, while talking to Classic & Sports Car in 2021. “No frame, no separate chassis: it was kind of like a UFO at that time, and my father was always interested in something new.” Such was the impact of the Elite on Soichiro that his son believed it to have inspired the dashboard on one of Honda’s first mass-produced cars, the S600. In 1962, Honda finished construction of the Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture, where the racy Elite was put through its paces by legendary Japanese driver Tetsu Ikuzawa. Hirotoshi then claimed the dubious honour of being the first person to crash at the circuit, rolling the Elite at Spoon Curve before the track had officially opened. “At the time there were only two Lotus Elites in Japan, so nobody could fix it,” recalled Honda. “I eventually found a small garage in central Tokyo, but it took a long time.” The Elite was refinished in jet black and rejoined the family’s stable of cars but after several near misses on Tokyo’s dimly lit streets, Hirotoshi convinced his father to have the car repainted in white. Hirotoshi eventually left the country, and upon his return two years later discovered his father had donated the car to the Honda International Technical School, where it remained for many years. In 1980 the disassembled Lotus was acquired by the consigning owner, and in 2018 he commissioned Bushell’s Restorations in Kent to carry out a complete nut-and-bolt rebuild. The Elite was restored over three years, with all previous crash repairs correctly remedied along with fitment of a ZF four-speed gearbox and replacement 1216-cc Coventry Climax engine built to Super 95 specification by Rawlson Racing. The car was finished in Grand Prix White in a nod to its Honda history, while a sanded patch of the inner boot was left exposed to show its previous colour changes—as were scratches to the driver’s window frame caused during the crash at Suzuka. The Type 14 Lotus Elite is a truly special car with achingly beautiful styling, competition pedigree, and genuine rarity all counting in its favour. This example is even more remarkable, boasting a fascinating early history with a visionary automotive giant who helped shape the modern world: Soichiro Honda. 1961 Lotus Elite Series 2 RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1985 Audi Quattro Sport SWB
Mouse Motors is proud to present one of the most influential car designs in recent decades, the Audi Quattro Sport introduced four-wheel drive into the automotive mainstream. A classic homologation model, Audi made just enough of these to compete in the FIA World Rally Championship. Of the 214, the factory reserved 20 Quattro Sports, and just 164 were sold at an initial ticket price of DM 203,850 (roughly $80,000). The short-wheelbase Quattro Sport was a classic homologation model. Audi made just enough of these (214) to compete in the FIA World Rally Championship, which the original long-wheelbase version dominated in the early 1980s. The factory reserved 20 Quattro Sports, and just 164 were sold at an initial ticket price of DM 203,850 (about $80,000). The Sport Quattro offered Audi’s most powerful engine in that series, which was rated at 306 horsepower, out of a turbocharged 5-cylinder DOHC 20-valve engine. The aluminum engine and Kevlar bodywork panels were designed to be lightweight, and top speed was claimed at 155 mph. The Quattro Sport also featured the first appearance of anti-lock brakes on an Audi Quattro. With the short wheelbase and high-strung engine, driving the Quattro Sports provides a driving experience that is one to remember. Still, given the low production numbers, great motorsports history, and general sexiness of the car, it’s not at all surprising that the Quattro Sports has gained popularity over the last few years, pushing values toward the 7-figure range. Sourced from Germany in 2018, this example was then imported to the United States. With limited use from 2018-2021, a full and thorough service was completed in September of '22 totaling $20,000. Just 21 of these Quattro Sports were originally delivered in Copenhagen Blue so this presents a unique opportunity to acquire a very rare, desirable example. 1985 Audi Quattro Sport SWB Mouse Motors LLC If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster 2
First introduced in 1957, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster was considered the successor to the famous 300 SL "Gullwings". The design of the roadster differed significantly from the coupe - while the coupe was known for its distinctive gullwing doors, the roadster had conventional doors. The 300 SL Roadster was equipped with a reinforced frame to maintain structural integrity without the fixed roof. In the engine compartment is a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with direct injection that produces around 215 hp. This allows the vehicle to reach a top speed of around 250 km/h. Today the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster is considered one of the most sought-after collector cars. Thanks to its design and engineering, the 300 SL Roadster remains a symbol of the style and technical innovation of the 1950s and 1960s. 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster Bechtel Motorcompany GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
