It was delivered to the first owner by the official Ferrari importer in Geneva in July 1976. The car was in the last ownership for over 10 years and was always cherished and cared for. The on-board folder with original owner’s manual, service booklet and exhaust maintenance document is present. This beautiful Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina is in top-maintained and very original collector’s condition. To fill the gap in the portfolio, the 308 GTB was introduced in 1975, establishing a successful model series that was to last for a total of 10 years. The first 308 GTBs had a GRP body (called “Vetroresina” in Italian), but Scaglietti switched to a conventional steel body after just a few models with polyester bodies had been produced, as it was too time-consuming to manufacture the body from glass fiber-reinforced plastic. Only the 308 GTB built for the European market until 1980 had an engine with dry sump lubrication. Cars for overseas and the 308 GTS and all later Berlinetta and Spider successor models with intake manifold injection had engines with wet sump lubrication. However, it was soon evident that Maserati was destined to build the Maserati name crafting their own racecars. The Maserati brothers were not only dedicated enthusiasts, but they were also passionate artisans and engineers – a necessary combination in order to yield fantastic performance cars, especially for premier clientele. This blend of art and engineering, a feature of Italian culture, is embodied in much of their fashion, food, and music, as well as in the fast-growing world of automobile manufacturing. Soon after inception, Maserati was building some of the finest racecars and many of the finest road cars. The often-underfunded company also competed handsomely against giants of industry, building Grand Prix cars, and winning world racing titles, including a rare win at the Indy 500. After the second world war, Maserati was not only able to survive, but they realized their future was dependent on building cars with an emphasis on dual-purpose – cars capable of top-level performance, and also beautifully appointed for street use. As technology improved and wealthy customers demanded both performance and luxury, Maserati enjoyed a robust following in both motorsports and on the showroom floor. The first of these road models was the A6 1500, which made its debut at the 1947 Geneva Salon. Upon review by the press, the beautifully crafted light-alloy Pinin Farina body was lauded by many to be among the most beautiful cars ever designed. In addition to the beauty, the A6 1500 was also innovative in that it was among the first to feature a smooth, integrated hood and fender design, leading back to a dramatic clean fastback rear with minimal chrome trim, hidden door handles, and a wide but delicately trimmed grill. All of these ideas are considered classic today, but in 1947, this design was truly revolutionary. Under the hood, engineering followed the path of excellence, where the remarkable 1,488cc single overhead-camshaft six-cylinder engine utilized aluminum and magnesium castings along with a single Weber carburetor, coupled to a four-speed manual gearbox. The ladder frame chassis featured double wishbone front suspension, similar to Maserati racecars, while the coil-sprung live-axle rear suspension balanced out the rear drive platform, yielding a lovely combination of performance and grace; a union that would herald many future Maseratis for years to come. This beautiful A6 1500 is chassis number 059, the ninth car of just 61 cars in the series produced from 1947-1951 and the only Pinin Farina Berlinetta assembled at the factory on a long wheelbase chassis. Although all the cars constructed in this series would be assembled on a standard chassis, and a long wheelbase chassis had been used in two cabriolet versions of the A6 1500 (chassis number 057 and 075), this is the only Pinin Farina Berlinetta known to have been constructed on a long wheel base chassis. Delivered new in July 1949, the car was configured at the factory with Berlinetta coachwork and finished in dark red Amaterro color. 059 has been researched and documented by renowned Maserati historian Adolfo Orsi. Mr. Orsi confirms the first owner as Mr. Americo Giol, a resident of San Polo di Piave, Italy. Though the duration of his ownership has yet to be confirmed by further registrations, it is known that his brother must have been duly impressed as Vittirio Giol soon became the first owner of chassis no. 078, also a Pinin Farina Berlinetta, constructed later in the series production. Orsi further notes that the car was next imported to the US and then to the UK sometime in the 1970s, eventually returning to Italy in 1993. By the late 90s, the car is known to have been sympathetically restored and subsequently purchased in 2000 by a Japanese collector. In 2003 this A6 1500 was entered and participated in the legendary Mille Miglia event, La Festa Mille Miglia. By 2010, this A6 1500 finds a new owner who then offers it on auction in 2015 at the Quail Lodge during the famed Carmel weekend and concours events. The current owner has continued to maintain the car to high standards, including recent detailed review and mechanical sorting by Epifani restorations. Today this wonderful car truly presents the elegance of design and engineering that have defined Maseratis. It is important to recall that this car was well ahead of Ferrari in every aspect as Maserati was already in production with the A6 1500 while Ferrari was simply a fledgling venture. Here in every respect the level individualized artistry and performance can be seen in the coachwork and mechanical specifications, further affirming Maserati as leaders of Italian craftsmanship, and pioneers of modern design and engineering. The older restoration while still very handsome has mellowed nicely in the ensuing years, and is both a testimony to the quality and the degree of preservation first offered as an original matching numbers car prior to restoration, but also to upholding the finest in restoration artisanship even in recent years. The exterior of this A6 has been finished to a high level still showing excellent paint and panel fit. The paint has settled in a bit over the years but still retains a high gloss throughout, with minor surface scratches and light marks from road use. Doors open and shut smoothly, as does the hood and trunk. Brightwork throughout the exterior has been polished and finely detailed to complement the deep red paint. Handsome design elements lightly decorate the exterior including beautifully sculpted recessed door handles, elegantly shaped grille and vent details, and exquisite headlight trim that brightens the fascia while elongating the gently sweeping fender lines. The clean lines of the dark red body are contrasted by the purposeful body colored solid wheels, accented with brightwork trim and center caps embossed with the Maserati name. Both front fenders beautifully stretch forward of the cowl in the one-of-a-kind long wheelbase configuration, proudly flanked by the Pinin Farina coachbuilder’s badge. Even the delicately garnished glass elegantly contributes to the perfect proportions of this dynamic car. The bold and elegant exterior is further enhanced by the art-deco influenced interior. Opening the door via the lever actuated flush door handle, the large door swings away offering easy ingress into the comfortable seats. Once inside, the expansive glass and light pillar work offer exceptional views around the entire perimeter of the car. The door panels and seats are covered in contrasting tan corded fabric accented by red piping and deep red carpeting. Matching body colored interior trim with elegant deco-inspired chrome handles and dash details further convey the quality of the design. The dashboard is a wonderful display of instrumentation and indicators, highlighted by the steering wheel, itself a work of art. Instruments and some trim are showing signs of patina, but otherwise, the overall visual condition of the dash and instruments is cohesive and refined. Other charming interior features further include a jewel-like ash tray lid, glovebox door clock, and Maserati trident embossed clutch and brake pedals. All components are beautifully designed and faithfully restored, with some of the fabric areas of the rear seat still covered by protective clear plastic. Under the hood, the car presents well, with excellent workmanship and authenticity to the period, all performed to accurate standards on the matching numbers engine. The hoses, fittings, and various components are faithfully restored, but exhibit some signs of age since restoration. The engine compartment generally shows an even patina throughout, still proudly conveying the history and integrity of the original specifications with details like fabric wrapped lacquered wires, a warmly hued carburetor, and gently toned aluminum castings. The underside of the car has been properly restored, and displays evidence of use in keeping with the general condition of a quality older restoration has mellowed over time. The car starts easily and idles smoothly once warmed up. The clutch is easily engaged, and the gearbox is representative of a car of this era. Seating position is good with plenty of room even for taller occupants. There is easy visibility over the long hood and the steering quitee good even at slower speeds. The four-speed gearbox is well suited to the car, while the ride is reasonably good in large part due to the rear coil spring suspension. The long wheelbase adds an extra touch of comfort especially at higher speeds. Given the era of construction, especially when compared with other vehicles of the period, the ride comfort and performance feel far ahead of the competition. The overall driving impression is elegant, spirited, and comfortable, with engaging mechanical sounds and delightful interior features accompanying you through even the most mundane drives. We would however recommend a major mechanical service prior to long distance rally use. This beautifully appointed Maserati A6 1500 is accompanied by a Maserati service manual, and copies of numerous factory documents, early photos and previous registrations as assembled by Maserati expert and premier historian Adolfo Orsi. The 6C 2500 became one of the most expensive and refined cars of its era, attracting a worldwide celebrity clientele. When it debuted in 1939 as the third series of Vittorio Jano’s legendary six-cylinder Alfa’s, the engineers involved could never have imagined that it would signal the end of the line for hand-built Alfa Romeos. Thanks to engine upgrades and a vastly improved fuel delivery system, the 6C 2500 was the first road going Alfa Romeo capable of 160 km/h. Additionally, it benefited from four-wheel independent suspension, with parallel trailing arms and coil springs in the front and swing axles with torsion bars at the rear. The 6C 2500 was immediately met with praise and success from its hand-selected upscale clientele. Alfa Romeo was, of course, still in the business of providing rolling chassis to custom coachbuilders, even as the onset of war loomed. By order of Mussolini, Carrozzeria Touring had to change its name to ‘Turinga’ during the Second World War, making it one of the rarest Alfa Romeo’s ever. A very small number of Touring’s cars were badged ’Turinga’. Only five 6C 2500 Sport Cabriolets were built, of which we now proudly handled two examples. These cars are amazingly easy to drive with light steering and powerful brakes. The engine offers sufficient punch and the gear change is remarkably easy. Driving is very modern with 120-130 km/h all day long. The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Sport is a masterclass from ‘Stabilimenti Turinga’ and is as pretty as a car can be. The long and elegant front fenders literally illustrates a bridge between Pre-and Post War design. This car is one of 4 cars out of the 5 which were immediately delivered to the German officers in Italy. The responsible Wehrmacht army Kolonel who took delivery was a man named Von Carnap. After the war the car was abandoned by the Germans and the Americans probably took this car with them.. The car’s next known whereabouts are in 1960, in the state of Texas in the hands of a man named Donald Vesley. Mr. Vesley sold the car in 1974, and it passed through the hands of several owners before being acquired by a collector named Paul Myers in 1989. Myers had the car restored in the early 1990s by Phil Reilly & Co., with bodywork performed by Moal Coachworks, both extremely well-regarded shops that consistently prepare show-winning cars of the highest caliber. Indeed, the car did very well when shown, winning the CCCA Senior National First Prize in the Primary Division at the Spring Grand Classic in 1999, Most Elegant Sports Car at Amelia Island in 2005, and Best in Class at the Greenwich Concours in 2008, an impressive feat for a restoration nearly 20 years old. During Myers’ ownership, the car was displayed at “The Candy Store” a sort of clubhouse for local enthusiasts of high caliber collector cars to store and display their cars in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2013 the car was sold to Europe and the owner decided to return the car to original blue. The car received new paintwork at a well known restoration shop and a correct new interior and hood. Mechanically the car was serviced and repaired where necessary. The car was then invited to the exclusive concours in Kyoto Japan. In 2023 the body was superbly repainted to concours standard and prepared by a well known restoration shop in Holland at quite some expense. Today the car is in very nice restored condition and will be a centre piece of any important car collection and a joy to drive. This is a great opportunity to acquire a car which is highly eligible for the best events worldwide, including the famous Mille Miglia. Apart from the Porsche 911/912, the Germans didn't really have a thing for real sports enthusiasts. Until the Opel GT turned the established middle class on its head. The strongly waisted Flounder stands like no other car for the fact that racy sports cars can be affordable. Suddenly it no longer had to be a Porsche that made the children's jaws drop on the street corner. The lightning bolt stood out like no other and was a sign of a new generation of cars. Anyone who found a Kadett too stuffy and an Ascona too embarrassing fell in love with the mercilessly desirable design of the Opel GT, even though, according to Opel, series production was not planned (it was initially said). Things turned out differently. In the fall of 1968, the Opel GT, which was advertised with the slogan “Only flying is more beautiful,” entered the automotive world. Technically, the car was based on the Kadett B, from which the 60 hp engine also came. But this weaker version only remained in the program for two years. The car with the 1900 S engine from the Opel Rekord C became a successful model. Because the four-cylinder engine with an output of 90 hp did not quite fit under the flat hood, it was given a characteristic bulge at the front right - which only made the design even more extravagant made more casual. Incidentally, Opel bought the bodies from a French manufacturer; the GT was manufactured in the Bochum plant. By the end of production in the fall of 1973, 103,373 examples had left the factory. The majority of the vehicles, namely exactly 84,000 models, were exported, primarily to the USA. There the crisp Opel made a career as a miniature Corvette. In general, with the GT, Opel demonstrated a sense for young automotive talent. The 60 hp version was initially available from 10,780 marks, the more powerful 90 hp model cost 11,880 marks. When the small GT was phased out, the GT Junior was introduced in 1971. The model was technically completely identical to the normal GT, but was offered significantly cheaper, namely from 10,500 marks. All chrome trim was eliminated and replaced with parts painted matt black. GT Junior drivers also had to do without vent windows, corduroy seat covers, some cockpit instruments and carpet mats. But that didn't dampen the enthusiasm for the car. On the contrary: the matt black accents looked good on the car. The end came suddenly in the fall of 1973. The French body manufacturer had been bought by Renault and stopped deliveries; In addition, stricter US regulations would have required a thorough renovation of the GT. Opel then had the model discontinued without replacement. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION Beautiful Opel GT in a unique color combination that makes the already desirable coupé an absolute eye-catcher. The Americans loved the Mini-Corvette, so it's no wonder that half of the production went to the USA and, depending on the state, it was able to survive to this day without major restoration work, unlike vehicles from our latitudes. This wonderful GT came from Florida some time ago and has obviously seen very little rain and certainly no snow or salt. In contrast to many vehicles from Europe, which have been restored more poorly than fairly and have a lot of poorly fitting fiberglass parts installed, this car is still made entirely of sheet metal. Logically, after over 50 years, the paint and upholstery could no longer keep up with the good body and were renewed a few years ago in high quality and show no major signs of wear either inside or outside. Before the full TÜV report was carried out, the GT received some wear-and-tear repairs in Germany, such as a new aluminum radiator, complete brakes, seals, tires, tank ventilation, etc. Plus new ATS rims with wide tires, which make the little coupé appear muscular. All chassis bushings were recently replaced with red PU bushings. This means that the car is not necessarily suitable for people with spinal disc injuries, but it sits like a proverbial board on the road. The well-known 1900 engine from many Opel models sounds and feels perfectly healthy, the transmission shifts smoothly and the entire electrical system works, right down to the well-fitting and smoothly functioning pop-up headlights. The chassis is sporty and firm and the steering is direct. Thanks to the technology adopted from large-scale production, the supply of spare parts is good. The floor pan and chassis came from the Kadett B. The reliable 1.9 liter engine was taken from the Rekord C. Overall, a rare and at the same time very attractive GT that is difficult to find these days.
