  • 1954 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT Outlaw

The Lancia Aurelia B20 GT came from humble beginnings. The original Aurelias had the first production V6 engines, and it only took a matter of time before people started testing their limits. The first series of B20 GT cars were built in early 1950. They were 2-door sports cars and were considered some of the first Gran Turismo cars in the world. During the 1951 Mille Miglia, demand outstripped supply for these little sports cars after proving their worth during the races. With an adept chassis and significant power for the time, the cars were becoming popular and eventually evolved over time spanning the course of 6 different series of Aurelia B20 GTs. Not often does the idea come about of turning an Aurelia B20 GT into some sort of “outlaw”, a car that is restored and upgraded without the usual rules of engagement if concours shows. Thornely Kelham of Gloucestershire isn’t just your normal restoration facility, as they have the skills and know-how to create designs anew. Having sourced and restored the “Bracco” Aurelia B20 GT, a special racecar that took 2nd overall in the Mille Miglia and a scored a class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1951, Thornely was acutely aware of the intricacies of the Aurelia platform, but also heavily drawn towards it. One of the most notable features of the Bracco car was the hot rod-like chopped roof, no doubt in an effort to streamline the car at the time. After the restoration and appearance at Pebble Beach in 2015, the idea was planted of a Fuorilegge (“outlaw” in Italian), which brings us to this special car. The 1st B20GT Outlaw project began with an American collector asking Thornley Kelham if they would build something like the Bracco car, but with modern upgrades paired with the “outlaw” philosophy that has been popularized by the Porsche 356 community. With “about a half a second of hesitation” they said yes, they could do that. They found a disheveled 6th series Aurelia, stripped it down to the bare bones, and began to chop, widen, and create the outlaw. Over 5,000 hours were invested in that first car and the cars after it, it being the test bed and having a large amount of creative license to create what Thornley Kelham thought would be the best interpretation. All four fenders were widened, fatter tires fitted, Jaguar D-type style wheels added, bumpers and rain rails removed, the front turn signals hidden inside of the head lights, Nardi scoop cut into the hood. On the inside, an Alcantara headliner, Porsche Speedster seats, and an FIA-spec roll cage certainly gives the vibe of a street racer with class. Mechanically, the car was quite different than before. While the Lancia uses a Flaminia V6 engine, it was bored out to 2.8-liters with more powerful camshafts and a custom exhaust to produce about 185hp, giving a healthy boost over a stock engine. The steering rack was upgraded to a rack and pinion setup, brakes upgraded to discs on all four corners (but inboard brakes on the rear), and the sliding pillar suspension has custom gas-filled shock absorbers to look factory but produce modern handling capabilities. When the time came to reveal the newly-created outlaw, Thornley Kelham were a little anxious as they were not sure how the car would be received. Fortunately for them, the B20 GT outlaw was met with thunderously positive responses at the 2015 Salon Prive’ held at Blenheim Palace. Two orders for the cars were made that day, and then two more shortly afterwards. Soon enough, Thornley Kelham were building their 5th and 6th cars in January of 2019. Aurelia B20 GT Outlaw chassis #3, the car here, is one of the early orders for Thornley Kelham. Finished in Lancia Racing Blue with a crème stripe over the hood and paired with a beautiful Oxblood Red interior. This vehicle is a true masterpiece, owing to its many meaningful specifications. One of which is the seats which are inspired by the 275 GTB to help preserve the overall Italian-ness of the car. Another is the 2.8-liter engine, which, like other Aurelia Outlaws, now has fuel injection. This car however has been fitted with a more improved fuel injection system allowing for an output of 225hp. Air conditioning was added to keep you cool, an upgraded pedal setup for supreme feedback, a special smaller Lancia steering wheel, an analog gauge panel under the dash, Series 1 Art Deco headlights, and a few other subtle touches that set this car apart from any others. The sloping roofline is still one of the most stunning parts of the car, hand formed by the artesian craftsman of Thornley Kelham. Since its completion in 2019, this Outlaw has garnered just over 3k miles with drives in the 2019 Coupe de Alps (France) and in the Zoute Grand Prix (Belgium). When it was brought over to the US, it was cautiously air-freighted to avoid the possibility of sea transport corrosion. After touching down, the vehicle was then displayed at the Quail in 2021 and was most recently featured on an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. When the Lancia arrived at Canepa, eyes wandered over to the car and began taking in all the details. The deep Lancia Blue color, the swooping body lines, the immense attention to detail, and the supreme craftsmanship. One of the most unique and stunning cars to come through Canepa’s doors, it was certain that the Lancia was in the right place among the other cars in our facility. Being able to custom design and build a car with the highest degree of quality and attention to detail is quickly becoming a lost art. Finding skilled craftsman to carry out someone’s ultimate vision is increasingly difficult, but the team at Thornley Kelham have not only managed to do it, but they have completely surpassed the previously-set bar. From the nickel-plated hardware to the perfect metal shaping of all the fenders by hand, the custom upholstered seats to the ultimate tactile and sensory feedback that the steering, suspension, and the 2.8-liter Lancia V6. The Lancia Aurelia B20GT Outlaw is a car that will be remembered and cherished for years to come. 1954 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT Outlaw Canepa If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The Alfa GTV “Sei”, as the Italians also advertised their sound-strong six-cylinder with fuel injection in this country, brought the Alfetta story and the legendary transaxle design principle (engine at the front, transmission, clutch and differential at the rear axle) to a climax. More important for the sports coupé clientele were, of course, other facts, first and foremost driving performance. Here, too, the GTV 6 lived up to its image as a thunderbolt, because in practice it clearly surpassed the restrained brochure figures. In contemporary tests, the V6 sprinted from 0 to 100 km/h in around eight seconds and the top speed was measured at up to 220 km/h, putting the 1980 Alfa even on a par with the far more expensive BMW 6 Series and Mercedes SL, but above all it made an announcement in the competitive field. While the Alfetta sedan was sent into its final round of production in 1984, the coupé continued to be built until 1986. A total of about 135,400 coupé versions were produced, of which 22,381 were the GTV6 and only about 800 the special GTV6 Grand Prix model, which was fitted with a special aerodynamic kit, decorative stripes and special aluminum wheels by Rayton Fissore. • 1991-porsche-911-reimagined-by-singer

Built to RHD specifications for use by the consigning owner in Hong Kong, HK2, the second Classic Study to be delivered to Hong Kong, was completed by Singer Vehicle Design in the summer of 2015. This would be just the fourteenth Classic Study to be completed by Singer Vehicle Design and as such, Singer’s founder Rob Dickinson was personally involved in every step of the car’s build process, from initial specification discussions to completion and delivery to Hong Kong. HK2 is finished in Dolphin Grey, a colour made famous by Porsche on the 356, alongside ghosted stripes with blue lettering, and blue-painted Fuchs-style wheels to match. Mechanically, it is optioned with the Ohlins adjustable suspension, a leather-wrapped roll cage, and the five-speed manual gearbox. Further options include the exposed fuel and oil filler caps, grey ceramic coated exhaust, and nickel-plated bumperettes. The blue detailing on the exterior carries through to the car’s interior, with the interior trimmed in matching blue leather and carpets. Options include the Recaro sport seats with black-painted seatbacks, and the Becker radio. Upon the consignor’s move home from Hong Kong to his native England, HK2 would also find its way to the U.K. but not before being sent to Singer Vehicle Design’s headquarters in Los Angeles. There, its engine was upgraded to 4.0-litre specifications, having been initially fitted with the 3.8-litre engine option as that was the largest available at the time of its build. The car was also fitted with upgraded exhaust system to reduce in-cabin noise and drone. Further work was done by Tuthill to tune the suspension specifically for use on U.K. roads. Since returning to the U.K., the car has been maintained by singer’s approved aftersales partners and more recently at Singer’s own facilities in the U.K. Offered in partnership between RM Sotheby’s and Singer Vehicle design, the car is offered with a full Singer Vehicle Design warranty, having been prepared to meet Singer’s pre-owned ‘Encore’ standards. With the order books for the Classic Study having been closed two year ago and production now coming to an end, these cars still remain highly sought after for their sensational driving dynamics and attention to detail. Beautifully specified by the commissioning owner whom the car is offered on behalf of today, HK2 would be a fantastic addition to any collection and would revel in being used and enjoyed as its creators intended. 1991 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1985 FIA Alfa Romeo GTV6 Group A

In 1981, Alfa decided to join the join the growing number of National and International Touring Car Championship with its all-new V6 engine in the old Alfetta GTV. Alfa’s racing department, Auto Delta, contracted the tuning firms, Imberti from Italy and Luigi Racing from Belgium, and both companies worked on designing and creating the special parts that would allow the cars to conform to the current 'Group A' regulations. Auto Delta took care of the homologation process, photography and paperwork. Luigi Racing At the start of the 1982, both tuners prepared 6 cars in total for Division 2 (cars up to 2500cc) and they were successful from the start with Luigi Racing claiming the title three years in a row ('82-84) with their yellow GTV6 and Imberti taking the spoils in 1985 in their distinctively liveried Jolly Club-sponsored car. During this four-year period, there were times when the Alfas were so dominant that they were even stronger than the considerably faster Division 1 cars from BMW (635csi), Jaguar (XJ-S), Volvo (240 Turbo) and Rover (SD1). Luigi Racing used a numbering system for their cars indicated by a plate in the engine bay, stamped LR****, where the first two numbers indicated the year of build i.e. 82=1982 and the second two indicating the build number of the car in the total series i.e. 18= 18th Group A GTV6 built. We are informed there were no more than 20 or so Group A cars built from '82-85 with some significant cars that can be identified, including LR8205 as Andy Rouse's BTCC 1983 championship-winning car, LR8410 became Colin Bonds Australian Touring car in '85 and LR8512 being Ron Simmonds famous car in the late 90s having competed in the ETCC in '84 and '85 and then being used by Ron in the Alfa Challenge functioning partly as a test mule for Ron’s Alfa handling kits. Chassis ‘LR8513’ Utilising an Alfa 75-based floorpan and a fresh, unstamped factory shell, the car was built for the 1985 season using the latest Group A parts and 'know how'. It ran during '85 in Boule D’Or/ Epson colours and the following year entered the 1986 Spa 24hrs in green Video Point livery. The car was purchased by a Mr Izarelli ,still in green, subsequently being sold to a Mr Vertongen. Main Identifiers are: Chassis plate LR8513 on RHS engine bay shock turret, brake and clutch pedal box, strengthening plates on shock turrets, offset gear-lever, air-jacks, twin AP CP2561 front calipers mounted on special cast uprights, Aluminium lower-wishbones and torsion-bar beam, large anti-roll bar and torsion bars, vented rear discs with AP CP2361 calipers, gearbox oil cooler, long-distance fuel tank, and centre-lock hubs with OZ rims (as used by Luigi in later seasons). This car has always been Identified as the '85 Spa car No 43 Driven by: Bernard de Dryver (B)/François-Xavier Boucher (B)/Loudwig Boucher (B) due to the rear-view mirror location, single central wiper and the air-jack input position on the rear. Previous owners had no reason to doubt this and also the logical conclusion was that this was François-Xavier Boucher’s car for the whole '85 season. ‘LR8513’ Under current ownership: The car's current owner had been trying to find a GTV6 to race in Historic Touring Cars and had been in discussions with Alfa guru, Chris Snowdon. Chris had known about LR8513 for years and called Mr Vertonger (who was an Alfa racing mechanic back in the day and had a collection of Alfas - the Luigi car being the hidden gem) to broker a deal. Chris drove his empty trailer to Belgium in 2016 to pick up a very dejected looking Alfa along with a plethora of original, but still brand new, Alfa Romeo parts and panels, which were all used to painstakingly rebuild the Alfa over a two year period, thereby preserving LR8513 for the next chapters of its life. The car was built to compete in Motor Racing Legends Historic Touring Car series and run by Chris Snowdon Racing where it has enjoyed many class victories and performed with great reliability. LR8513 is a 'Group A' car and runs the wonderfully sonorous 2.5-litre V6 which is reported to produce over 250bhp and is, of course, fitted with the original, and recently refurbished, Ciccotti gearbox. Supplied with current FIA papers (GB11358), valid until 31st December 2027, this special car offers a gateway into some of Europe’s best historic motorsport and is a significant part of Alfa Romeo Touring Car history. • 1969 Jaguar MKII

Recipe for success Such was the popularity and commercial appeal of rallying at the turn of the new millennium that Ford was committed to throwing the kitchen sink at the competition version of its ‘New-Edge’ Focus, the long-heralded replacement for the much-loved Escort. Not only had it granted its de-facto motorsport arm M-Sport Ltd. carte blanche to design a full-fat gravel-churning rally-winning version of the Focus. But it also paid the 1995 World Rally Champion and by far the sport’s most famous name, Colin McRae, a record-breaking sum to drive it. M-Sport’s founder Malcolm Wilson poached Günther Steiner from Prodrive to head up the technical side of the car’s development, built a state-of-the-art 110-acre factory, lured Martini Racing back to the sport as a lead sponsor for the programme and leant on Ford when and where necessary – like when he borrowed its wind-tunnel to hone the new car’s bodywork and aerodynamics. The resulting Focus RS WRC was a technological tour de force and a clear signal of intent to the six other major manufacturers poised to contend the 1999 World Rally Championship. Though aesthetically it was not drastically different to its humble production counterpart, the Focus’ bragging rights were earned beneath the surface. Technical trump cards included a comparatively long wheelbase, enhancing stability, a wind-tunnel-honed aerodynamic package designed to re-equilibrate weight distribution and optimise cooling, and a electronically-actuated semi-automatic gearbox, operated by a stubby, peculiar-looking know mounted beside the steering wheel. In the hands of Colin McRae, the Focus won on its fourth time out. And the Safari Rally, to boot – arguably the most challenging and technically strenuous of them all! While Ford was denied a title victory with the original ‘New-Edge’ Focus (McRae missed out by an agonising two points in 2001), it did score 16 World Rally Championship victories and undoubtedly help boost sales in the showrooms. ‘V10 FMC’ Registered in the United Kingdom by Ford Motor Company on 20 July 2000 with the number ‘V10 FMC’, this Focus RS WRC made its competitive debut for the Works M-Sport team in Rallye Sanremo, round 12 of that year’s the World Rally Championship. It was earmarked for the double World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz Sr., who’d returned to Ford at the beginning of the season to bolster its remarkable squadron of drivers (spearheaded by Colin McRae) and strengthen its assault on the championship. ‘V10 FMC’ made its competitive debut in Rallye Sanremo in 2000, where it was driven by Carlos Sainz Sr. In the face of Sanremo’s unrelenting torrent of twists, turns and death-defying drops, ‘El Matador’ and his co-driver Luis Moya drove a mature rally, steering the Focus clear of trouble and finishing fifth overall, 30 seconds ahead of McRae in the sister Ford. It was to be the only outing in 2000 for ‘V10 FMC’. The winter period saw this Focus upgraded to 2001 specification: a small yet effective package of enhancements including a fly-by-wire electronic throttle, ceramic turbo internals designed to improve throttle response, and thinner window glass, which saved a not-insignificant eight kilograms. In Monte-Carlo, this Focus was drafted into action for the opening press conference introducing the 2001 World Rally Championship ‘V10 FMC’ was thrust back into action in the year’s traditional curtain-raiser, the 2001 Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo, where it was to be driven once again by Carlos Sainz. The 2,000km marathon across the mountains that overlook the Côte d’Azur comprised 400km of flat-out special stages. It was the treacherous conditions on these stages that wrote the Monte’s early headlines, with five Works entries out by the end of the first leg. Having won the world’s most famous rally twice before, Sainz was better-equipped than most to avoid falling foul of the conditions. But even the Spaniard admitted how prevalent the risks were. “On the Col de Turini those were the worst conditions I’ve ever seen,” he said after completing the commonly-held jewel in the rally’s crown, “not because of the snow, but because of the black ice.” Carlos Sainz drove ‘V10 FMC’ to a stunning second-placed finish in the 2001 Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo His deft display with this Focus saw him and his teammate Moya win two special stages and cross the finish line second overall – a fantastic result in the season’s opening round. It’s important to note that this Focus is accompanied by its original Monte-Carlo light pod and a set of ultra-rare snow-specification wheels and tyres. Sainz enjoyed one further outing with ‘V10 FMC’ in the 2001 World Rally Championship: Rallye Catalunya. At his home event, in front of tens of thousand of adoring fans, ‘El Matador’ once again realised his wealth of experience to finish fifth overall. Over the course of the next years, this Focus passed through the hands of a small number of private owners, all of whom maintained the original Works Ford ‘V10 FMC’ registration. The car was entered into a plethora of international and domestic rallies, including select rounds of the World Rally Championship as late as 2006. In 2019, this Ford joined one of the world’s largest, most diverse and most historically significant collection of rally cars. It was at this point the decision was taken to undertake a comprehensive restoration to the car’s original Works 2001 specification. The exhaustive two-year project was entrusted to BGMsport, the Northamptonshire-based rally preparation specialist, which left no stone unturned on its quest to present ‘V10 FMC’ in a condition as close to as it left the M-Sport factory. More recently, this Focus RS WRC made its – virtual – public debut in a Hagerty film presented by the renowned British motoring journalist Henry Catchpole. During the film, which explores the context of Ford’s activities at the time and, more specifically, the relationship between the road-going Focus RS and the rally car, Henry takes ‘V10 FMC’ to a Welsh asphalt special stage to stretch its legs a little. It’s a fantastic piece of cinematography and we thoroughly recommend taking the time to watch the film and understand more about what this Ford is all about. Today, ‘V10 FMC’ boasts many strings on its collector-car-desirability bow. Not only is it a factory Ford World Rally car built by one of the most successful teams in rallying history at a time when it was granted the budget to flex its technological muscles to the max. But it was also raced by one of the sport’s most famous and decorated names, Carlos Sainz Sr., to a podium finish in the greatest rally of them all: Monte-Carlo. Its period Ford registration, comprehensive restoration undertaken by one of the very best names in the business and evocative Martini livery all further bolster this Focus’ desirability. It goes without saying that these characteristics all increase its eligibility – especially today, in a world where rally cars from around the new millennium are growing in popularity. Besides the established events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Rally Legend in San Marino and the Eifel Rallye Festival in Germany, examples of these new events harnessing this growing popularity include Velocity International and The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in California. • 1966 Ferrari 330GT

The Overview The Ferrari 330 series served as the company’s V12-powered grand tourer from 1963 to 1968 when it was replaced by the 365. The 330 series had a 2+2 GT Coupé, two-seat Berlinetta, spyder, and even a race-going version., with all models using an improved version of the 4.0 L Colombo V12 engine from the 400 Superamerica. The 330 GT 2+2 was first shown at the Brussels Show press conference in 1964 with a redesigned front and rear, quad headlights, wider grille, longer wheelbase for improved passenger legroom, closed circuit Dunlop disc brakes, and Koni adjustable shock absorbers for improved handling. The Series II took over in 1965 and featured a five-speed transmission instead of the overdrive four-speed transmission of the Series I. It returned to the classic dual-headlights, alloy wheels, and optional air conditioning and power steering. Only 455 Series II 330 GT 2+2’s were produced. This particular example, Chassis # 08279, is 1 of the only 455 Series II 330 GT 2+2 examples ever built. It is finished in its original Avorio color with a contrasting Beige leather interior and was optioned with both air conditioning and power windows. What makes this 330 even more special is the fact that it is believed to be the only one finished in Avorio from the factory. Chassis 08279 was completed by the Ferrari factory in March of 1966 and was sold to its first owner, a Sig. Hollman of Turin, Italy, in 1966. Hollman was quite the Ferrari enthusiast, having owned two 250 GTE 2+2’s, two 330 GT 2+2’s, a 365 GT 2+2, and a 365 GTC throughout his life. It was imported from Italy to the US in the 1970s and purchased in 1974 by its second owner in Houston, TX. They went on to own the car for the next 16 years before listing it for sale in June of 1990. The car had supposedly undergone a bare metal restoration, including a new interior, completely rebuilt engine & brakes, and a fresh coat of paint in its original color. The second owner continued listing it for sale from 1992 to 1995 before it finally moved on to its third owner, who invested quite a bit of money into this Italian beauty’s upkeep over the years. In 2003, this 330 received an extensive, yearlong service at Ferrari of Houston. The dealership replaced the fuel lines, restored the camshafts, flushed and repaired the radiator & heater core, and rebuilt the Koni shocks. It returned to Ferrari of Houston in 2006 for another round of extensive repairs. The dealer repaired the alternator bracket, installed new accelerator and tachometer cables, installed a new exhaust system and blower ducts, repaired the fan switch, adjusted the carburetor and distributor, installed new tires, and replaced the wiper motor. A 2009 visit to the same dealer led to the water pump being re-sealed, an aftermarket alternator bracket being fabricated, rear axle seals replaced, new A/C lines and hoses, new heater ducts, and new weatherstripping. In 2013, one of the wheels was refinished, the reverse light, trunk, and center console wiring was redone, some of the interior and window trim was repaired, and the front grill was restored. In December of 2014, the 330 was taken to Lyle Tanner Enterprises in Rockwall, TX, for a comprehensive rubber and seal replacement that included windshield and rear windshield surrounds, window seals, door seals, engine and hood seals, trunk seals, headlight seals, bumper seals, along with some transmission, carburetor, and rear end work. In March of 2015, the car was listed for sale at the Amelia Island R.M. Sotheby’s auction, where it was purchased by its fourth and most recent owner for $451,000. That same month, the new owner took it to Norwood Auto Italia in Carrollton, TX, for a new Becker Mexico radio and speakers, front turn signals, right door striker, alternator & bracket, and a voltage regulator. In April, it was brought to Lyle Tanner Enterprises three times. The first time, they installed a new wiper motor, spare wheel hold down, fuse boxes, reverse light, heater blower, Magnetti Marelli voltage regulator, heater control valve, brake fluid bottles, alternator switch, washer bag & hose, light switch on the body, and taillight covers. The second and third times, it received a new grill badge, oil cap breather, front bumperettes, suspension pin, water shut-off valve, license plate lights, blower motor, oil filler fittings & drain hose, fan brush, carb throttle shafts, fuel gauge float, bumper guard rubber, and a firing order plate. In May, Lyle Tanner Enterprises installed a new fuel line alongside a wooden steering wheel and rear reflectors. Fast-forward to April and May of 2018, and the 330 received a new clutch slave cylinder and hose from Algar Ferrari of Philadelphia in Bryn Mawr, PA, with a clutch master cylinder following later in June of 2018 from GT Car Parts in Phoenix, AZ. In August of 2019, new mufflers were ordered from Timevalve Mfg of Florida in Melbourne, FL. Most recently, in September of 2022, the car was entrusted to Bishop’s Restorations in Port Saint Lucie, FL, with a full car wash, clay bar, wet sand, buff, and polish. They also replaced the hood bump stops and installed new air filters. All told the cosmetic work added up to another $3,000. With only 455 examples produced, a possible one-of-one factory color, and service records that add up to well beyond six figures, this four-owner 330 GT 2+2 is one of the most unique and storied examples of one of Ferrari’s classic coupes. It is sure to be a hit at any prestigious Concours event and is the perfect choice for the individual looking for a Ferrari that stands out from the crowd. Upon purchase, the new owner will receive an extra set of Borrani wire wheels, its factory-correct Campagnolo ten-hole cast alloy wheels, and its original and very rare blue-painted factory jack. 1966 Ferrari 330GT LBI Limited If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright The Overview The Ferrari 330 series served as the company’s V12-powered grand tourer from 1963 to 1968 when it was replaced by the 365. • 1957-porsche-356-a-1600-speedster-by-reutter

As useable and versatile classic cars go, there are few that trump Porsche’s cult-classic 356 Speedster. Its sleek and simple silhouette exudes Hollywood glamour, its air-cooled four-pot engine is best described as metronomic and its rarity all but guarantees entry to the world’s greatest classic road rallies. Think the Colorado Grand and the Modena Cento Ore. It’s as adept prowling Sunset Boulevard as it is bombing across an Alpine pass with the crisp winter air blowing through your hair. The Speedster was famously the brainchild of Max Hoffman, the shrewd and charismatic East Coast importer of prestige European cars. Hoffman recognised that a sportier and more rakish version of Porsche’s drop-top 356 would prove popular in the United States, more specifically in the warmer climes of Southern California. And he was right: the resulting Speedster was a smash hit, selling by the boat load. If you were a someone in Los Angeles in the late 1950s, you were most likely cruising around in a Speedster. Of the multiple iterations of the Porsche 356, it is the earliest Pre-A and As which are the most rare and therefore the most desirable. Beyond their rarity, these 356s are special for myriad reasons. Not least their numerous unique (and some might say purer) aesthetic features such as the oh-so-1950s split windscreen and the fact that, to Porsche disciples, they represent the very foundation of the marque. Chassis no. 82948 As per the accompanying Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this 356 A 1600 Speedster – chassis number 82948 – was built by Reutter in January of 1957, finished in Ultramarine Blue over a Beige leatherette interior. It was equipped with a sealed beam headlights, American bumpers and a tonneau cover. The car was delivered new to the East Coast of America, which is where it would remain for 61 years. There are two salient points to chassis number 82948’s American history. Firstly, from the mid-1970s until 2005, it remained in the possession of a single Connecticut-based collector. Secondly, in 2009, this Porsche was comprehensively restored by Raymond Kenneth of BTO Autoworks in New York. During the exhaustive project, the car’s engine and transaxle were rebuilt by the renowned New York Porsche specialist Hayland Engineering and the Beige interior was beautifully retrimmed by European Auto Upholstery. Chassis number 82948 returned to Europe – and indeed Germany – for the first time in 2018, where it was acquired by one of Germany’s most prominent automotive collectors. He actually registered the car in the United Kingdom, where it was assigned the number it retains to this day. Though its final private owner was a Spaniard living in Madrid, he kept the Speedster UK road-registered. In September of 2019, almost 50,000 Swiss francs were spent on servicing the car under the careful consideration of a revered Swiss collector-car dealer. Today, chassis number 82948 presents as an exquisitely restored fully matching-numbers example of the beloved 356 Speedster formula that transcended the Porsche world and came to embody the 1950s Hollywood Jet Set. Having thoroughly inspected the car, we can confirm the presence of all its original factory identification markings, including every Reutter body number. And it’s accompanied by its jack set, tonneau cover, folding fabric roof, side screens and its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Fresh from a mechanical service, chassis number 82948 is ready to contest any of the classic road rallies across the world for which it’s eligible, including the Mille Miglia, Colorado Grand and the Modena Cento Ore. 1957 Porsche 356 A 1600 Speedster by Reutter Girardo & Co. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright As useable and versatile classic cars go, there are few that trump Porsche’s cult-classic 356 Speedster. Jaguar built 18 ‘works’ and 53 ‘customer’ D Type sports racing cars between 1954 and 1956. D Types won The Le Mans 24hr Race 3 years running in the mid 1950’s. In 1956 & ‘57 the race was won by Ecurie Ecosse D Types in the famous ‘Flag Metallic Blue livery’ of the Edinburgh based racing team. This car is a recreation of a 1955 Ecurie Ecosse D Type. With so few D Types built, original cars now command very high prices. The 1956 Le Mans winning D Type (which looks almost identical to this car!) was sold at the Pebble Beach auction for 16.6 million in August 2016, so the only realistic way of enjoying a D Type today is with a replica. This D Type evocation was constructed in 2010 based upon a 1967 Jaguar 420 saloon which donated its engine block and a small part of the bulkhead. The car was manufactured and built by Revival Motorsport using a tubular steel spaceframe chassis designed by Adrian Reynard of Reynard Racing. The bodywork is Kevlar/GRP composite. The 4.2 litre XK engine has been completely rebuilt and tuned to produce 285 bhp - as the car weighs only 930 Kg, performance is very rapid! The car is fitted with several authentic D Type components including the steering wheel, the Smiths instruments and the lightweight Dunlop alloys. Several adaptations from original D Type specification have been made to make the car more ‘road friendly’ rather than race track focussed. These include Jaguar derived independent rear suspension, a Tremec 5 speed gearbox and Triple SU carburettors rather than Webers or fuel injection. There are no driver aids such as power steering, ABS or traction control making for a very stimulating driving experience! USV 441 was commissioned in early 2010 by a gentleman from the south west of England. The correspondence to him from Revival Motorsports detailing the agreed specification and the British Racing Green paint finish can be found at the end of this section of the handbook. The second owner was Chris Beauvoisin from Gloucestershire, well known in classic Jaguar circles as the founder and president of the Jaguar C & D Type Club. At the time he bought the car Chris was engaged in a self-build project of a C Type and he only drove the D Type occasionally during the next two years covering less than 200 miles. He arranged for the D Type to be displayed in the showroom of his local garage more to create additional space in his workshop at home than in any expectation of selling the car. Within a week a local gentleman saw the car and purchased it on the spot, writing a substantial cheque for the full asking price! The next owner made a series of upgrades such as a color change to the Ecurie Ecosse Flag Metallic Blue in the style of the Le mans winning cars. The current owner is a Belgian collector has had her on Belgian plates since 2019 and has kept her up in perfect order. 1967 Jaguar Replica D type replica USV 441 Car Cave USA If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
