- 1997 Ferrari F50
Following in the footsteps of the fabled F40, Ferrari’s F50 was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1995. Hugely influenced by Formula 1 design and technology at the time, at the F50 heart was a naturally aspirated V-12 engine derived from Ferrari’s 641 F1 car, campaigned during the 1991 Formula 1 World Championship. With 512 bhp on tap, its Formula 1 origins and 8,000 rpm redline made the engine truly sonorous when driven as its manufacturers intended. Top speed was claimed as being 202 mph and from a standstill, the F50 would sprint to 60 mph from a standstill in 3.8 seconds. As if its performance wasn’t enough, what truly set the F50 apart from its competitors at the time was its open-top body style, allowing buyers to choose from the closed comfort of a Berlinetta or the thrill of an open-top sports car, and no open-top sports car on sale at the time could match the sheer performance of the F50. Top-down, the driving experience that the F50 provided its lucky driver and passenger was a close as one could get to driving a road-legal Formula 1 car. Only 349 examples would be built, far fewer than the F40 that preceded it. This example was supplied new to Ferrari Deutschland in July 1997 and dispatched to the supplying dealership one month later. The car would be collected by the first owner Mr Manfred Schröer of the consultancy firm MSW Consulting by official Ferrari dealership Tamsen GmbH. Schröer used the car sparingly but was keen to enjoy the car, from a distance at least! He displayed the car on several occasions including the start of the 2001 Supercar Rally from Paris. In 2003, the F50 changed hands and was purchased by connoisseur racer and collector, Andreas Knapp-Voith. The F50 moved to Japan and entered into a prominent collection accompanied by several other notable examples of the marque. Seeing minimal use, the F50 was carefully stored to present exactly how it was when it launched. This included retaining the original and no longer available factory issue tyre, the Goodyear GS Fiorano, complete with the bespoke tread pattern found exclusively on the model. In 2024, this example was purchased by DK Engineering and flown to the UK. Upon arrival, this example was thorough photographed, highlighting the wealth of original features and extensive carbon fibre weave, weave that extends to the front bumper which is often lost to inevitable repaints. The example is accompanied by many of its supplied original accessories: Original Books including service book 2 original keys Ferrari build book 3 piece luggage set including outer bags Original torch Flight case including roof panel, roll hoops and fasteners in original Schedoni bag Fabric roof behind rear seats Battery tray Tools, bulbs, wheel socket and tyre inflator Car cover Original tyres will be replaced as part of the sale, but original GS Fioranos can be supplied for display purposes only Ahead of sale, this example will go through our workshops receiving an annual service as well as new fuel tanks. This fabulous example of Ferrari’s F1-derived supercar is available to view at our showrooms outside London immediately. 1997 Ferrari F50 D.K. - 1968 Alfa Romeo 2600 SZ
With the grandiose flair of an extraordinary work of art, we present to you with unashamed pride the Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint Zagato (SZ) - a masterpiece that goes beyond the banal notion of a "car. This is not a simple vehicle; it is a dynamic piece of art that refuses to hide behind the silent walls of a museum and instead shines on the catwalk of the streets as an extremely rare and coveted phenomenon. From the glorious era when Touring, Bertone and Zagato challenged each other intensely and creatively, the 2600 SZ came off the production line in a limited edition. In faithful adherence to tradition, Alfa Romeo's flagship underwent a special treatment, with extraordinary success. The Alfa Romeo 2600, unveiled at the 1965 Frankfurt Motor Show, marks a milestone as the last 6-cylinder in-line model Alfa ever produced - a legacy dating all the way back to the 1920s. With the 2600 Sprint Zagato, a creation of visionary Ercole Spada, Alfa Romeo injected a dose of indomitable Italian passion into their flagship, and this time with a light, sporty twist. This particular 2600 SZ is a rare example that shines in its condition. Originally delivered in picturesque Switzerland and in the hands of a passionate collector since 2007. Of the only 105 examples produced by Zagato, only 59 are still alive, according to the 2600 SZ Register. Would you like to immerse yourself in the allure of this unique machine? - 1959 Porsche 356 A Carrera 1600 GS 'Sunroof' Coupe by Reutter
“Porsche is the simplest definition of the term Gran Turismo—a machine that is ‘grand’ for ‘touring’—a status symbol of connoisseurs who know automobiles and appreciate fine points of design and craftsmanship.” —Car and Driver, 1960 As he completed his design for what would become the Porsche 356, little did Ferry Porsche know his seemingly simple shape would catapult the family firm into one of the most well-respected sports car manufacturers in the world. A shape so iconic it has remained largely unaltered even as it closes in on its eighth decade in production, it is a design of such simplicity and perfection that any deviation from the norm would be, and has been, considered automotive sacrilege. The most potent mechanical variation of the 356 was the Carrera model, which was powered by the slightly detuned, Fuhrmann-designed four-camshaft, 1,600-cubic-centimeter racing engine. Available in both “GT” race specification and “GS” touring specification, Porsche made sure that their new engine could be marketed on a platform to individuals who were looking to spend time on the track, as well as to those who were looking to drive down the Autobahn in style. While many Porsches of this type were campaigned on the track, it appears that this 1959 Porsche 356 A Carrera 1600 GS “Sunroof” Coupe was specified by its first owner, Robert Blackwood, of Atlanta, Georgia, for long-distance touring. Per both its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and Kardex build record copy, chassis 108399 was delivered—via the noted Brumos Porsche of Jacksonville, Florida, which had become an official Porsche dealership only months earlier—with an extensive list of factory options including a Blaupunkt radio with two loudspeakers, a rear luggage rack, an electric clock, an 80-liter fuel tank, a factory-installed roll bar, and an incredibly rare and highly desirable sunroof. When considering these options, in addition to its Carrera 1600 GS-specification drivetrain, this Porsche would certainly have been one of the priciest and most desirable examples delivered stateside that year. The car passed through a handful of owners before being purchased by a Porsche enthusiast in Chattanooga, Tennessee, who commissioned a concours-quality restoration. Beginning in 2002, chassis 108399 underwent a complete restoration by the late Porsche specialist Gary Kempton, of GK Restorations in Florida, while Porsche specialist Vernon Crotts was purportedly tasked with rebuilding the numbers-matching engine (number 93126, with matching-numbers transmission 28925). The car was reportedly disassembled to the last nut and bolt before being painstakingly reconstructed to concours standards. Repainted in its original shade of Porsche Silver Metallic (5706), with an interior finished in dark blue leather, this example exudes a subtle elegance that does nothing to distract from the body’s flowing lines. Upon completion, the Carrera was exhibited proudly and successfully, reportedly winning Best in Show at the 2010 Saint Louis Regional Porsche Car Show and invited to appear alongside other world-class four-cam and racing Porsches at the 2011 Rennsport Reunion IV & Porsche Race Car Classic, hosted at The Quail Lodge in Monterey, California. Acquiring chassis 108399 in 2013, the Dare to Dream Collection has continued this Carrera’s pampered care, including servicing by the eight-time Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance winning-firm RM Auto Restoration of Blenheim, Ontario. Of all the Porsche 356 iterations, the Carrera 1600 GS models are among the most valuable, the most thrilling to drive, and the most beautiful to behold. Meticulously restored and presented in Porsche’s quintessential color, this is a prime example of Stuttgart’s finest. Revered for its innovative engineering and timeless styling, the 356 A Carrera 1600 GS “Sunroof” Coupe is, quite simply, automotive perfection incarnate. 1959 Porsche 356 A Carrera 1600 GS 'Sunroof' Coupe by Reutter RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 2
Having covered less than 4000 miles since undergoing a comprehensive restoration, this beautifully presented Jaguar E-type Series 1 is now nicely run-in and ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. Chassis number 888791 was built on 5 June 1963 as a left-hand-drive fixed-head coupé and dispatched to New York on 14 June. It was finished in Opalescent Golden Sand with Tan interior, and its first owner was recorded as being RL Mytincer. Paperwork in the history file shows that the E-type was in Virginia by 1980 and it was still there in 2013. Two years later, it was sold to Northern Jaguar in Harrogate and shipped back across the Atlantic. In January 2016, it then passed to a new owner in south-east England. The Jaguar was in need of a complete rebuild, which took place over the next few years. The E-type was stripped all the way back to a bare shell and the cost of the bodywork restoration alone was more than £40,000. The 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine was rebuilt by renowned specialist Classic Motor Cars in Bridgnorth and the standard four-speed Moss gearbox was replaced by a five-speed unit – a popular and sensible modification among E-type owners. The braking system was also upgraded, as were the cooling system and fuel pump, and a smaller steering wheel was fitted. An immobiliser was installed and the car’s electrical system was converted to negative earth. The interior was fully retrimmed in dark red leather and a right-hand-drive conversion was carried out, and the owner even went to the trouble of putting together a full tool kit. All of the invoices from the rebuild have been retained in the substantial history file, and there is also an extensive photographic record of the work. More than £100,000 was spent on the bodywork, engine, interior and chrome – a total that doesn’t include further expenditure such as the new brakes and wheels. The 3.8-litre Series 1 FHC is one of the most desirable variants from throughout the Jaguar E-type’s long production run, and this car is offered for sale in exceptional condition thanks to its painstaking restoration. With a series of well-chosen modifications, it is now perfectly suited to the sort of fast touring for which the E-type was always intended. MODEL HISTORY Having stunned the motoring world in 1948 with the introduction of the XK 120, Jaguar did it again when it launched the E-type at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. Beneath its beautifully curvaceous Malcolm Sayer-designed bodywork was a layout that owed much to the Le Mans-winning D-type. That car’s layout of a central monocoque structure with a front subframe for the engine was retained for the E-type, which replaced the D-type’s live rear axle with independent suspension all round. With the marque having pioneered the use of disc brakes in the early 1950s, it came as no surprise that the E-type featured them on all four wheels. The new model was introduced with the 3.8-litre, triple-carburettor, straight-six engine from the outgoing XK 150 S and early road tests produced a sensational top speed of 150mph – at a time when 100mph was still a significant figure. When John Bolster tested a pre-production E-type for Autosport, he wrote that it was ‘capable of whispering along in top gear at 10mph or leaping into its 150mph stride on the brief depression of a pedal. A practical touring car, this… yet it has a sheer beauty of line which easily beats the Italians at their own particular game.’ Production of the roadster and FHC slowly ramped up through 1961, with early cars also scoring some notable competition success. Updates came thick and fast as Jaguar struggled to keep up with demand. In 1962, the ‘flat floors’ were modified in order to provide the driver with more room around the pedals, and in late 1964 the engine was enlarged to 4.2 litres. At the same time, a Jaguar gearbox with synchromesh on all four speeds replaced the previous Moss gearbox. A long-wheelbase 2+2 model was added to the range in 1966, and the heavily revised Series 2 followed in 1968. The V12-engined Series 3 then took the E-type through to the end of its run in 1975, when the model was replaced by the XJ-S. 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 The Classic Motor Hub If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1963 Maserati 5000 GT
Very extensive restoration with a stable engine Only 34 were produced and only 22 with the Allemano body First owner was the actor Stewart Granger The Maserati 5000 GT was introduced in 1959. The car based on the 3500 GT was originally intended to remain a one-off and actually only be built for the Shah of Persia. Due to press reports and a high level of acceptance among Maserati’s well-heeled customers, the decision was made in Modena to produce a small series of the 5000 GT. Maserati supplied the chassis with the engine, which came from the 450 S racing prototype. The bodies were commissioned by the owners themselves. There were bodies from Touring, Frua, Pininfarina or Ghia. The 4.9 liter all-aluminum engine inspired many rulers, actors and industrialists. Aga Khan, Gianni Agnelli and Stewart Granger drove a Maserati 5000 GT. Today, the Maserati 5000 GT is considered the most glamorous road Maserati of all time. This Maserati 5000 GT was ordered by the US-British actor Stewart Granger, who is best known in Germany for his role as Old Surehand in the Karl May film adaptation. Due to engine problems, which unfortunately all 5000 GT had, it was soon “abandoned” by Stewart Granger. After a very long and meticulous restoration, the car is now fully drivable. The engine overhaul alone took a decade. Many components on the engine have been renewed to reflect the current state of the art. The unit is now stable, suitable for everyday use and achieved around 400 hp on a test stand. It is probably the only really stable example of a Maserati 5000 GT. 1963 Maserati 5000 GT Thiesen Hamburg GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1996 Ferrari F355
Looking resplendent in Canna di Fucile with Bordeaux interior, this Ferrari F355 has been fastidiously maintained throughout its life, and comes with a history file that features invoices and receipts from some of the most well-known marque specialists in the UK. Supplied new to the UK, it was originally registered on 20 September 1996 and sold to its first owner by Graypaul Motors in Loughborough. It was then serviced and maintained during the early years of its life by Maranello Sales Ltd in Egham, Surrey – the service book notes a cambelt change in September 1999, with the mileage standing at just under 17,000. The F355 was then sold by the same company in September 2002 to a new owner who was based in Gloucestershire. Subsequent stamps in the service book show that it was entrusted to the likes of Talacrest, DK Engineering, Simon Furlonger and Foskers, with regular cambelt changes being noted along the way. They were replaced most recently as part of its annual maintenance in December 2022, with the mileage at 59,117 – it has covered only about 500 miles since. Immediately recognised as being one of the finest driver’s cars of its generation, the Ferrari F355 has always enjoyed a strong following, and over the years it has come to represent a high-water mark in the history of the marque’s mid-engined V8 models. With its free-revving 3.5-litre engine allied to a manual six-speed gearbox – operated via Ferrari’s evocative open gate – this particular example is just as exhilarating to drive as it was almost 30 years ago. It has been used only sparingly in recent years, and is being offered for sale with a complete set of manuals and books – all still presented in their leather wallet – as well as the original factory tool set in its leather case. With its stylish colour combination and extensive service history, this F355 is a superb example of this landmark sports car. 1996 Ferrari F355 The Classic Motor Hub If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1972 BMW E9 3.5 CSL Batmobile
Arguably the most recognizable BMW race car of all time, the E9 3.0 CSL holds a unique position in the history of the Bavarian marque. After Bob Lutz joined the company in 1972, he then acquired Ford’s Head of Motorsport, Jochen Neerpasch, to become BMW’s lead racing engineer within the newly formed BMW Motorsport GmbH. The group’s first project would see their return to touring car racing with the E9 chassis, beginning the CSL project. This given name, Coupé Sport Leichtbau (CSL), represents the modifications made to the chassis to homologate the car for racing. Featuring the two-valve code M30 inline six-cylinder with fuel injection, the engine was modified over the course of its production, eventually moving up to a slightly larger 3,003cc, and finally to 3,153cc. In competition specification, the engine would be modified to an even larger 3,498cc with a four-valve head. Roughly 215 kilograms had been stripped from the chassis with thanks to the use of plastic windows, aluminium components, and thinner-gauge steel. In 1973, an updated CSL debuted with the most iconic modification of all, the ‘Batmobile’ aerodynamics. With help from ALPINA, a large air dam, fender fins, rear windshield spoiler, and a large rear wing were added to the body providing the solution to the much-needed reduction of drag and lift at speed. In this revised specification, the BMW would go on to a successful and lengthy motorsport career. This stunning FIA Group 2 specification 3.5 CSL ‘Batmobile’, chassis number 2210270, started life in 1972 as a 2800 CS race car, much like the majority of period code E9 cars and was built by the garage FALTZ, an ALPINA authorized dealer and prominent private BMW team in Essen, Germany. The car campaigned in the 1972 Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (DRM) Championship under the skilled hands of Hans-Peter Joisten, who proceeded to take ninth place in the overall standings for that year. During 1973, the car was purchased by Graziano Cancian halfway through the year in June. Cancian built the car up to 3.5 CSL specs, installing a Schnitzer engine to get there, and competed within various DRM and the European Touring Car Championship races through to 1976. Later, in 1979, the car was sold to Peter Herke of California and subsequently upgraded to Group 5 specification in order to run in the IMSA GT Championship. The car was extensively modified with a body similar to those used by the Vasek Polak team throughout the 1970s. Though the car was perhaps considered outdated at this period, Herke continued to campaign the car until 1985 where it was then placed into storage until 1992 when it was invited to participated in the 20th anniversary of BMW Motorsport held at Sebring in the presence of Karl-Heinz Kalbfeld, the managing director of BMW Motorsport GmbH at the time. For this occasion, the car was painted in the historic BMW Motorsport colours. Using the car sparingly, Herke attended a hand full of historic motoring events before offering it for sale in 2007. The car was purchased by Speedmasters who took the immediate decision to restore the car back to its Group 2 specification, as raced from 1973 until the Group 5 upgrades later in 1979. The decision was taken to finish the car in its 1973/74 livery, as there are numerous photos of the car from this time and crucially, it is in this specification that the car is competitive in historic racing. The restoration was entrusted to QM Engineering in the UK, commencing in 2008 and culminating in 2009. Roger King, who ran QM Engineering, had worked for Broadspeed in the 1970s and worked on the first BMW CSL car that was produced as a study for BMW. During restoration, the car was completely stripped and rebuilt, with the addition of a fully welded-in FIA roll cage to enhance both safety and the torsional rigidity of the chassis. James Hanson of Speedmasters would then go on to race the car and reported that it was found to be 'more than a match' for the other CSLs on the grid. In 2010, the car was then sold to Richard Meins, a regular front runner at historic motoring events. Meins proceeded to campaign the car in Masters Historic Racing and the Donington Historic Festival in 2011 and 2012. During his ownership, it was decided to send the car for yet more work with specialists in Germany, Schirmer Race Engineering. A further €100,000 was spent on the car and the engine was rebuilt again. A few years later, in 2015, the car was sold to Mr Rittweger who continued to look after the car with no expense spared, fitting new fuel cells in late 2016. The car underwent a full report by GSD RaceDyn as Rittweger continued to campaign the car in Historic Motoring events. Today, the car qualifies to compete in the most highly regarded historic race series', including the Masters Series, Le Mans Classic, Historic Touring Challenge, and Peter Auto's popular Heritage Touring Cup. Complimented by FIA papers valid until 2029, important period documentation and imagery, entry forms, customs documents both from Europe and the US when it was exported to Herke, this example of the iconic ‘Batmobile’ is ready to enter the most prestigious events. The full Group 5 fibreglass bodywork that the car was previously fitted with still accompanies the car. This fantastic example of BMW’s famous ‘Batmobile’ is available to view at our showrooms outside London by appointment immediately. 1972 BMW E9 3.5 CSL Batmobile D.K. - 1965 Marcos 1800GT Race Car
Having been superbly restored from 2016-19 and prepared for competition use, this striking Marcos 1800 GT is offered for sale as a highly accessible and eligible choice of historic racing car. The extensive history file states that chassis number 4055 was ordered new in November 1965 by a Mr Green, who lived near Manchester. The order was placed via John Sprinzel Racing Ltd and period correspondence from the Marcos factory shows that the 1800 GT was delivered in kit form to Mr Green, who duly completed the build process and registered his new car in early January 1966. In 1980, it was acquired by Anthony Harding, who stored it for a few years before having it restored to original spec in 1989. The Marcos was then used in the Historic Sports Car Club’s Road Sports class during the 1990s, but by the time it was bought by the current owner in 2015, it had been off the road again for a few years. A marque enthusiast who had previously competed in a Marcos Mantis, he entrusted it to well-known specialist Redline Sportscars so that it could once again be restored and competition-prepared. As an early 1800 GT, ‘4055’ was originally supplied with a de Dion rear axle, but that set-up no longer complies with FIA GTP1 regulations. It was therefore removed and kept with the car, and a Ford rear axle – as fitted in period to later 1800 GTs – has been installed in its place. The braking system is via front discs and rear drums, while 6in wheels have been fitted all round. The all-iron, 1780cc Volvo B18 engine was rebuilt by Mass Racing, and dyno-tested at nearly 180bhp on Weber carburettors. It was also set up to run on the twin Strombergs required by the FIA regs, and produces 150bhp in that form. A Salisbury Powr-Lok limited-slip diff was fitted, the gearbox was replaced with a refurbished unit from Amazon Cars and the overdrive unit was removed. It’s now geared for just under 140mph in top. The Aston Martin shade of green was chosen in tribute to the works-entered 1800 GT that ran in the 1968 Le Mans 24 Hours, and since being completed the Marcos has been used in events such as the GRRC Spring Start sprint meeting, and at the Gurston Down hillclimb. Having run in roadgoing classes, it’s always been taxed and MoT’d since its latest rebuild – a photographic record of which accompanies the car – and comes with current HTP papers. Fastidiously maintained by Redline Sportscars in recent years, this Marcos 1800 GT is a quick, competitive and well-prepared car. 1965 Marcos 1800GT Race Car The Classic Motor Hub If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright Having been superbly restored from 2016-19 and prepared for competition use, this striking Marcos 1800 GT is offered for sale as a highly accessible and eligible choice of historic racing car.
