Sometimes you come across a car that makes you wonder if it's more of a chapter in the history of technology than a means of transportation. This Porsche 928 – built in 1978/model year 1979, from the era when Ingolstadt's slide rules and Stuttgart's engineering pride still joined forces – belongs precisely in this category. A Gran Turismo of almost museum-quality purity, yet one that is anything but a static display piece. This Porsche 928 – model year 1979, from the era when Porsche still used compasses and engineered with passion – is undoubtedly a truly remarkable car. Of the 3,009 examples built back then, perhaps only a few hundred are still on the road – and among them, probably none that has reached such an unusual stage of evolution as this one. Because this 928 has – if you'll excuse the expression – not just received a facelift, but a kind of mechanical rebirth. There's no other way to put it: no expense was spared, as if the task was to teleport a brand-new car backward through time. The engine? Completely overhauled, down to the last bearing, polished, measured, balanced – you could probably put it on a pedestal as a showpiece V8 and let the public admire it, if it weren't such a precious thing to do. The entire chassis? Rebuilt, with every single suspension component from A to Z. No worn bushings, no tired joints, not even a hint of creaking. Tires, brakes, clutch, electrics – all new, all reworked, all done with that certain obsession, and all over the last few years. With a passion that only people possess who are driven by something else entirely in life: perfection. But that's not all. While other 928s spend their days as well-maintained classics, this one has decided to expand its land-based lifestyle and embark on a second career – as a safari GT. Raised by a finely tuned KW coilover suspension, fitted with knobby tires, possessing the attitude of a marathon runner and the self-assurance of a desert camp commander, it stands there: wide, commanding, a touch audacious, and gloriously alone in the vast open landscape. You'd almost believe it's standing alone somewhere in the expansive terrain, holding its hand to its forehead to shield itself from the sun, assessing the situation, trying to figure out which direction to take next. In its other hand, a felt-covered canteen… A 928 that could not only drive from Paris to Dakar – but probably back again, simply because it can. Its uniqueness? Probably absolute. Because even if there were another raised 928 somewhere in the world – which is highly doubtful – it certainly wouldn't be in this technical condition. Without personally knowing all existing 928s, one can confidently say: finding a better-conditioned example of this nearly 50-year-old breed is virtually impossible. And one that also qualifies as a Safari GT is even more likely. In short: Anyone looking for a Porsche 928 that looks as fresh as a factory car just rolled off the assembly line yesterday – and at the same time is as exotic as a cactus in the tundra – is looking at their automotive jackpot. More photos coming soon. We highly recommend this 928 “Cross Touring” to those who – like us – are looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. 1978 Porsche 928 Cross Touring DLS Automobile If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Fiat Dino 2000 Coupé First registration 02.1968 Swiss delivery Swiss road registration with veteran entry This beautiful Fiat Dino 2000 Coupé was delivered in Switzerland and is veteran-approved. It has always been well maintained and serviced regularly. Recently the carburetor and the water pump were revised. Many documents like original manuals, spare parts catalogs and invoices are present. The car is in very nice and top maintained condition. The Fiat Dino is a sports car that was introduced in the spring of 1966 by Fiat on the occasion of the one hundredth birthday of the company founder Giovanni Agnelli. First appeared the convertible called Spider, which was followed in the spring of 1967 by the coupe, designed by Bertone. Dino is short for Alfredino and was the nickname of Enzo Ferrari’s son. Legend has it that Alfredo Ferrari, on his deathbed in 1956, whispered the data for the V6 engine into the ear of Vittorio Jano, a proven and experienced racing engine designer employed by Ferrari. Jano is then said to have designed this engine according to Alfredino’s specifications. The Dino engine was used in Formula 2 and also in other competitions. For homologation, production of at least 500 units was required. Since Ferrari was not in a position to produce such a number, Fiat took over this task. Incidentally, Fiat then also supplied the engines to Ferrari for the Dino 206 and Dino 246 GT. 1968 Fiat Dino 2000 Lutziger Classic Cars AG If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1959 Ferrari 250GT Series I Pinin Farina
1959 Ferrari 250 GT Series I Pinin Farina Coupe s/n 1147GT, Engine no. 1147 (internal no. 0218D) Grigio Scuro with Black Interior Introduced in 1958, the 250GT Pininfarina Coupe represented Ferrari’s shift toward standardized production road cars, both to showcase the technology tested in racing, and to provide consistent income to support racing. The cars were elegant, understated, and luxurious, and were available as both open and closed variants. Fitted with the venerable 3-litre V-12, the 250 GT is in many ways the quintessential classic Ferrari, and with generous space for both passengers and luggage, PFs have always been excellent touring cars. This particular car’s history is well known, thanks to a comprehensive summary by Ferrari historian Marcel Massini: October 24, 1958: Chassis frame sent to Carrozzeria Pinin Farina in Torino February 12, 1959: Rear axle assembly completed by mechanic Walter Sghedoni, supervised by foreman Amos Franchini February 14, 1959: Gearbox assembly completed by mechanic Beltrami, supervised by foreman Amos Franchini February 14, 1959: Engine assembly completed by mechanics Zanasi and Fossati, supervised by foreman Amos Franchini February 16, 1959: Engine dyno tested by mechanic Pinelli, supervised by engineer Russo February 17, 1959: Chassis frame completion date on factory build sheets, signed by foreman Amos Franchini 1959: Delivered to official Ferrari importer Italauto SA of Lausanne, Switzerland, a company owner and managed by race driver and Baron Emmanuel “Toulo” De Graffenried of Switzerland 1959: Sold by Italauto SA to first owner Guinness, resident in Switzerland. As a Series I car, equipped with drum brakes, an offset shifter, and finished in grigio scuro with beige leather interior. Likely equipped with a Series II discs brake assembly early in s/n 1147GT’s existence, possibly at Ferrari, as the entire system including the rare proportioning valve is identical to that of a Series II. By late 1977: Exported to the USA and owned by James B. Wise of Oklahoma City, OK. By 1980: Owned by Merle H. Mickley Mishne of Cleveland, OH By late 1999: Sold to Brian De Vries of Grand Rapids, MI June 2000: Sold to Walter Giovanelli, Hauppauge, NY By 2002: Sold to Simon De Giula Botta, Oakland, CA By 2003: Sold to the current owner Recently the car has seen considerable restoration work, both cosmetic and mechanical. This work included an engine rebuild by Patrick Ottis & Co. which included a new water pump, and a rebuilt starter, and generator. Once completed, the engine was dyno-tested to confirm 212 horsepower and 194 ft/lbs of torque. A new clutch and flywheel were installed as the engine was re-installed. A comprehensive brake system overhaul was also performed, as was a repaint in the original and striking shade of grigio scuro. Many other smaller works were carried out to ensure the car is in fully operable trim mechanically, and this is confirmed by its excellent road manners. THE CAR EMPLOYS A DRIVER LEVEL COSMETIC PRESENTATION. The recent repaint is in good order, but not done to show standards. It would likely polish up a bit with a careful but comprehensive color sand. The brightwork is straight, generally complete, and free of major pitting, but with hazing and some light weathering present. The glass and lenses show some age in select areas, primarily the windscreen, which has some wiper marks. The car sits on Borrani RW 3598 5.5x400 wire wheels, which are shod with newer Michelin 185 X Series tires. The interior, which appears to have been partially reupholstered in 2000, also employs a nice driver presentation. There are no tears or holes in the leather, although there is some drying evident on the dash pad and center console. The carpets are older, but in serviceable order. The gauges are all present and appear to be operational, although some of the under dash switchgear may not be totally original. The headliner is in very good shape. The trunk is upholstered, but generally unrestored in its presentation. The engine bay is partially restored, primarily the engine itself, which is quite correct in its details, and makes a fresh presentation. The inner fenderwells, and some of the ancillary components have an unrestored presentation. The equipment present is quite correct, including the brake booster, remote oil filter housing, air cleaner and related wing nuts, yellow fuel lines, horns and compressor, and the fuse panel. The underside of the car is generally solid, but in unrestored condition. There are some areas of perforation in splash areas behind the wheels. THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES WELL. The engine starts easily and pulls strong making good power over a wide RPM range, with virtually no smoke. Acceleration is brisk, thanks in part to its low final drive ratio. The transmission shifts smoothly, with good synchros, both when warm and cold. The disc brakes are effective, pulling the car down straight, which is not always the case with drum brake fitted cars. The suspension is generally in good order, although there is some noise present at back when going over rough road surfaces, likely related to the level-style rear shock absorbers. Offered with a Marcel Massini report, a copy of the build sheets, records supporting the restoration works, a second set of keys, and a very smart modern production tool roll with select original tools, this Series I PF Coupe will appeal to the Ferrari enthusiast who recognizes the value of the two passenger 250 Series cars, but is not looking to spend upwards of $1,000,000 USD. With the engine completed, the heavy lifting is done, making this car an ideal example which could be taken to the “next level” by its next custodian. s/n 1147GT is a rational purchase for the investment-minded owner looking for a car where they can benefit financially from a sweat equity labor of love, or alternatively, it could be enjoyed with a clear conscious, exactly as it is now. 1959 Ferrari 250GT Series I Pinin Farina Fantasy Junction If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Series I Pinin Farina Coupe s/n 1147GT, Engine no. - 1965-ferrari-275-gtb-03
Completed by Ferrari in March of 1965 this short-nose 275 GTB was originally built to European specifications with triple Weber carburetors, steel bodywork, and a solid prop shaft. Originally finished in Grigio (18940 M) over a Nero (VM 8500) interior, chassis number 06741 would remain in its native Italy and was sold new to Ugo Tagliaferri of Romeo at the end of March 1963 according to Ferrari historian Marcel Massini. He would keep the car until the end of the year, selling it to Mrs. Giuseppina Maiozzi, also of Rome. After passing through four subsequent Roman owners by July of 1972, the 275 GTB finally moved to Arezzo in Tuscany. Later sold to Belgium, the car would next surface in Switzerland when advertised for sale by a dealer in Switzerland in January of 1988, at which point it was described as being finished in red with a black interior and Borrani wire wheels. Six years later, the car would be driven in the Tour de France Automobile under the entry of “Bernard-Mouton.” Subsequently exported to the United States later in the 1990s, the 275 GTB was noted as being owned by Chris Minnick of Houston as of September of 2001. Five years later, the car was offered for sale, having been freshly restored in silver-gray metallic paintwork with red leather interior. Its next owner would be collector Peter LeSaffre of Andover, Massachusetts. With LeSaffre, the car suffered minor damage to its nose during the Cavallino Classic historic races at Moroso in January 2007. The damage was subsequently repaired by Precision Automotive Restoration Inc of Newburyport, Massachusetts, who were looking after the car for Mr. LeSaffre during his ownership, and invoices for the work are on file. and the car returned to the race at the Monterey Historics that same year. Sold to Axel Urban in April 2008, the car was then repainted and retrimmed to its original specifications and shipped to Germany. Amazingly, the 275 GTB would return to the United States in September of 2010 when it was sold to Henry P. Camisasca of Lake Forest, California. During his ownership, the car was granted Ferrari Classiche certification, confirming that it retains its original chassis, engine, and bodywork. Interestingly, during the certification process, it was discovered that the car is not fitted with its original transaxle gearbox, but rather with a competition-specification Type 563 Elektron transaxle with a magnesium case bearing the number M 19. This gearbox is believed to have been the unit originally fitted to the famous 275 GTB Competizione Speciale, chassis number 06885, the ex-works entry at the Taga Florio and 1000 KM Nürburgring in 1965. The car would later place third overall and first in class at the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans as entered by Ecurie Francorchamps. At the time of certification, it is said that Ferrari Classiche believed that this gearbox was fitted in period and thus granted chassis number 06741 Red Book certification. During this time, the car transaxle was rebuilt and the driveline, now upgraded to the later-specification CV joint setup, was rebalanced. Acquired by the consignor via the noted and long-time car dealer Harley Cluxton III in the summer of 2021, the car was purchased for use on longer tours. It has been regularly serviced by the consignor’s in-house team of mechanics. Importantly, the car is accompanied by a set of owners manuals, a tool kit, an additional set of correct 14” Borrani wire wheels (in addition to the upgraded 15” set fitted to the car), and a six-carburetor intake kit with twelve venturis made by Roelofs. Any 275 GTB is truly a fantastic car to drive, and chassis number 06741 is undoubtably more so given its famous competition-specification gearbox. No stranger to being driven and enjoyed at speed over the course of the last twenty years, this 275 GTB would be an astute acquisition for a passionate enthusiast looking to enjoy one of Ferrari’s all-time greats on the open road. 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. There are Ferraris that impress on paper, and there are Ferraris that stay with you forever. The Ferrari F355 Berlinetta belongs firmly to the latter category. For many enthusiasts, the passage of time has only strengthened the F355’s reputation. Especially now, in an era increasingly shaped by digitalisation and hybridisation in form of the new Ferrari Luce, the F355 is widely regarded as one of the final truly raw and analogue Ferraris ever built. Compact, delicate in proportion and intoxicating in character. And then there is the noise. Even today, few road cars — regardless of price or era — can match the operatic shriek of a naturally aspirated Ferrari V8 at 8,500 rpm. This one Finished in the definitive combination of Rosso Corsa over black leather, this European-market, left-hand-drive Berlinetta was first registered in Rome in January 1996 and remains wonderfully true to its original spirit. Unlike the over-restored concours examples we had in stock not long ago this particular F355 has clearly been enjoyed exactly as Ferrari intended. Its 98,002 kilometres tell a reassuring story of regular use and diligent maintenance rather than static display. The paintwork remains in remains fine condition, while the car benefits from a comprehensive maintenance history, including documented services at 20,000, 40,000, 50,000, 60,000, 80,000 and 90.000 kilometres. Importantly, it retains all the qualities collectors now search for so obsessively: Six-speed manual gearbox European specification Original toolkit Matching character and presentation Ferrari conformity certification Verified clean CarVertical report with no accident history The addition of a Capristo valved exhaust only enhances the experience, allowing the already legendary V8 soundtrack to move from restrained mechanical precision to full symphonic theatre at the touch of the throttle. Today, the market has begun to recognise what passionate drivers understood years ago: the F355 was not simply a successor to the 348, nor merely a stepping stone before the 360 Modena. It was the final expression of a certain kind of Ferrari A Ferrari not designed to flatter the driver, but to involve him completely. 1996 Ferrari F355 GTB Cool Classic Club If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The Aston Martin DB5 is an enduring cinematic legend, but not many people know that a DB4 Series V was actually used on set in the famous James Bond film ‘Goldfinger’. In fact, when the production team visited the Aston Martin factory in 1963 in search of the first definitive ‘Bond car’, they came across a red (!) Aston Martin DB4. They fell in love with this car, and the rest is history. This specific car has a comprehensive ownership history from new and is complete with the old logbooks, factory records and a big file of invoices from the English restoration of body and mechanics. Factory-equipped with the rare and desirable matching-numbers ‘Special Series’ Vantage engine, featuring larger valves, a raised compression ratio and triple SU carburetors, producing 266bhp at 5.700rpm – which was an increase of 26bhp over the standard engine. The current owner acquired the car 17 years ago. The body was repainted in the Netherlands by one of the best paint-shops and the interior was re-trimmed to a very high standard. Presented as ordered new in ‘Fiesta Red’ and equipped with wide Borrani wire wheels and optional electric windows. The car is ready to enjoy and runs and drives beautifully! The Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Sandro Munari and Horacio Pagani. To appreciate the lengths Lamborghini went to ensure the car with which it would mark its 25th anniversary was truly worthy, you only needed a glance at the two names drafted in to help develop it. In truth, when Chrysler assumed control of Lamborghini in the 1980s, it had rather hoped that the new Diablo would be ready in time for the marque’s landmark birthday. Alas, it wasn’t to be, so focus instead turned to the trusty Countach, Lamborghini’s wedge-tastic flagship since 1974. That the resulting Countach 25th Anniversary, of which 667 were produced, evolved from Gandini’s minimal LP400 is remarkable. The liberal addition of era-defining (and functional) strakes and select carbon-fibre bits and pieces were the work of a young Horacio Pagani, who’d been recruited to head Lamborghini’s exciting new composites division. Furthermore, the 1977 World Rally Champion Sandro Munari was brought in to hone the suspension. And it’s fair to say the Italian knew a thing or to about road-holding and balance. Combined with a plethora of comfort- and refinement-based upgrades implemented to overcome some of the Countach’s established foibles, the 25th Anniversary is the best Countach to drive and enjoy. Chassis number 12031 The distinction of the left-hand-drive Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary we’re thrilled to be offering is that it’s covered a mere 1,719 kilometres from new and, as a result, is presented in the most remarkably original condition. Finished in Rosso over a Nero interior, chassis number 12031 was originally ordered in June of 1990 by Portman Lamborghini in the United Kingdom, which in turn found the car its first owner in Japan. Said owner cherished this Countach from 1990 until 2015, at which point it returned to Europe. This Lamborghini was acquired by its third and current custodian in 2017, when the mileage was noted as a mere 671 kilometres. In the nine years since then, he’s added only a further 1,100 kilometres to the odometer and had the car maintained accordingly, including a thorough mechanical refresh in 2018 totalling more than £18,000. Most recently, in the spring of this year, Bob Houghton Ltd. carried out a major service, during which the door and boot struts were renewed and the engine and gearbox oil were replaced. The cost totalled over £2,500. Given the minimal mileage and careful storage of this Countach, it’s by far the best condition example we’ve yet encountered. Overall, the car’s immaculate, the Rosso paintwork retaining its depth and allure and the Nero leather interior boasting the subtle sheen of gentle use. The carbon-lidded engine bay is particularly clean and tidy, barely exhibiting any signs of use. We were perhaps most surprised by how well chassis number 12031 drives – not something than can be said for most older cars with such minimal use under their belts. Having never been restored, this Countach feels beautifully run in. While positive, the gearbox is not stiff, the air-conditioning is fantastic and that V12 is responsive and genuinely strong, propelling the car with impressive shove. The 25th Anniversary might have been a commercial stop-gap until the arrival of the Diablo and, in turn, heralded a new era for the Raging Bull. But it was proudly, defiantly Lamborghini and a fitting end for a supercar which has captured the imagination of so many people for so many years. Chassis number 12031 is surely among the lowest-mileage and most original examples available anywhere. 1990 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Girardo & Co. The eleventh M1 built by BMW, this car was not allocated to an eager customer when new, but was retained by BMW’s Press Department instead. Completed on 30 October 1978, the car was finished by Baur on 21 December and would finally be in the hands of the press department by 5 January 1979. Five days later, it was road registered in Germany as part of their press fleet. This would be some two months prior to the first customer M1 being delivered, giving the world’s motoring journalist early access to what was undoubtably the most exciting BMW built in decades. Just three M1s were retained by press use, and the car offered here, bearing chassis number 4301011 is the only press car originally finished in blue. Only 59 M1s would be painted that colour out of the entirety of production. The car’s press use is verified by an accompanying BMW Classic Certificate, and additional commentary from the BMW M1 Club and BMW M1 Registry. It is understood that during its press duties, this car wore two different numberplates in period articles: “MAW 3064” and “MTT 8459”. Furthermore, it is believed that this car was used in the brochure for the model as well. By 1981, the M1’s time with BMW’s Press Department had come to an end and the car was imported to California and was federalized for road use. Amazingly, it would remain with the same Californian owner until 2013. Three years later, the car would return to its native Germany with a subsequent owner where it remained on display in his prominent private collection. With that owner, the car was sent to the BMW specialists at Oldenzaal Classic in the Netherlands where an extensive mechanical restoration was commissioned. Approximately 450 hours of labor saw the M1 returned to fantastic conditions both inside and out. Notable line items furnished by Oldenzaal include complete rebuilds of its engine, transmission, differential, water pump, starter motor, alternator, and Kugelfischer fuel injection pump. Additionally, new bushings were installed throughout the car’s suspension, four new Pirelli tires were fitted, and numerous interior details were also remedied in pursuit of ideal and period-correct presentation. Returning to California with a subsequent owner, the M1 was acquired by the consignor via RM Sotheby’s and imported to the Netherlands, where it resides today. The very first BMW to be designed entirely under the purview of BMW’s Motorsport division, the M1 is a highly significant model within the company’s rich history. For many, it would have been this very car that introduced them to the model. Thus, it should be considered to be amongst the most important M1s in existence, and therefore one to be cherished. 1979 BMW M1 RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
