The Escort RS Cosworth is one of the defining performance cars of the 1990s, and certainly one of the defining ‘Fast Fords’, rightfully earning itself its cult-like following and praise. Launched in 1992 as a homologation special, the RS Cosworth was designed with a singular purpose: to incorporate components that would allow Ford to compete at the highest level of international rallying. With its turbocharged 227bhp engine, all-wheel drive and finely tuned chassis, it was capable of 0-60mph in just over 6 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 145mph. Early examples, known as ‘big turbo’ cars, were renowned for their rawness and pronounced turbo lag, but refinements introduced in 1994, including the smaller Garrett T25 turbo, significantly improved drivability and performance. In 1995, the model received a mild facelift with a new honeycomb grille, updated bumpers, revised alloy wheels and an improved interior layout. Production ceased in early 1996 as emissions regulations ended the era of the Escort RS Cosworth, leaving a car that was already regarded as a classic. This Imperial Blue example is nothing short of exceptional, especially benefitting from long-term ownership of c.20 years. It is one of the very last RS Cosworths built at the Saarlouis plant and was ordered as an Executive Car for Richard Parry-Jones, the head of Ford of Europe’s R&D division at the time. Parry-Jones had been intimately involved in the car’s development, including the fine-tuning of the chassis, and it was the third Escort Cosworth he personally ran, following two left-hand drive examples during his time in Germany. During its initial life as a company car, it saw little use, partly because Parry-Jones was frequently abroad, and partly because his role required him to test-drive other vehicles. When it came time to replace it, he purchased the car personally to enjoy it further, but use remained limited, largely to weekend drives and occasional outings to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Ford RS events. The car has been meticulously cared for throughout its life. In Parry-Jones’ ownership, cosmetic refurbishment and underbody waxing were carried out by Automotive Unlimited, while routine mechanical servicing was undertaken by Gates of Bishops Stortford despite lack of usage. Every effort has been made to preserve its originality, never being modified, and all factory specifications remaining intact. N114 DTW has spent its entire life in temperature-controlled units, from a well-ventilated coach house until 2006 when our vendor bought it, to then live again in a environmentally friendly storage effectively preserving it in 'as-new' condition. As a Lux specification, the car combines performance with comfort, offering a level of refinement unusual in a homologation special. Features include opening rear quarter windows, electrically operated and heated mirrors, Quickclear heated windscreen with heated washer jets, electric sunroof and windows, rear centre armrest and head restraints, central double locking, lights-on warning, three-spoke leather-covered steering wheel, and the factory-fitted radio cassette with optional 2040 CD player. The interior leather is pristine, the plastics are preserved and dark, and the cabin retains the feel of a brand-new car. It sits on its original Ronal soft-spoke 8x16 alloy wheels, shod with Pirelli P Zero tyres, all in excellent order. The accompanying history is complete, including full bookpacks, original documentation, and all MOTs from the first owner through 2007, with the last MOT undertaken in 2010. The car has covered just 3,091 miles from new, with three owners in total and our vendor having driven it only a handful of times, preferring to admire and detail it rather than use it. It has been routinely serviced, with oil changes maintained throughout its life. N114 DTW is a timewarp example in every sense. It has been preserved through chance and careful ownership rather than deliberate speculation, retaining its originality, specification and showroom condition for more than 30 years. The combination of ultra-low mileage, complete provenance, Lux specification with leather seating, Imperial Blue paint, and the connection to Richard Parry-Jones makes this Escort RS Cosworth an extraordinarily rare and desirable example. It is a once-in-a-blue-moon opportunity to acquire one of the last and most remarkable Cosworths ever produced. 1996 Ford Escort RS Cosworth Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The car has been previously owned by actor and entertainer John Barrowman and from owning it from 2007 to 2015 he did less than 1400 miles only using it for very special occasions. In 2009 he spent £8700 extensively restoring certain elements. Including a new replacement convertible roof and rust elimination/proof on the bodywork. This included: Repair of corrosion to sills, rear wheel arches, lower front wings, lower section of the footwell/bulkhead. New rear deck panel. Repainted the rear of the car, lower sections of the front wings, lower front valance and rear bumper valances. Rust-proofed the car Rebuilt the gearbox Before John owned it it was owner by two owners of the same family in Poole Dorset. It was kept in a garage then too, especially during winter. Jonathon's Comments: 'R107's are a fantastic classic car. One that you can use every day if needed, alternatively you can save it for high days and holidays! The hard top makes it usable in the winter, however I'm sure most people will drive it with the roof down. This car has been very well looked after over the years and you can tell it's had lots of money spent on it. It's only being sold as the current owner has had a change of circumstances and now needs to move it on' The car has a comprehensive service history with a large folder full of receipts and will be serviced again by the Car Barn prior to sale. 1982 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Car Barn If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - Maserati A6GCS – Monofaro
The Maserati A6GCS is the last true Maserati. In 1947 the Maserati brothers Ernesto, Bindo and Ettore, now released from their contract with the Orsi family packed up their tools and left to form OSCA with their sights set on building lightweight, fast racing cars. Before they left however, they had time for one last masterpiece, the Maserati A6GCS Series I. Designed in conjunction with lead technical engineer Alberto Massimo, the car was officially called the 2000 Sport after the powerful 1978cc straight-6 under the bonnet. Styled by Medando Fantuzzi, the Monofaro or single headlight was initially designed to have a coupé body but the Maserati brothers, forever focussed on weight saving instructed Fantuzzi to design a lighter “Siluro” or torpedo body featuring cycle-wing fenders to protect the open wheels during racing. The Maserati brothers, perhaps aware this was the last car they would design for the company that bore their name, paid particular attention to the development of the Monofaro. The car was a mechanical masterpiece featuring double wishbone suspension across a low-slung tubular frame chassis with the engine mounted to a 4-speed gearbox. The resulting car was a force to be reckoned with, taking the fight to the more powerful Ferraris also racing at the time. The Monofaro raced predominantly in Formula 2 races where the greats such as Alberto Ascari, Stirling Moss and Tazio Nuvolari battled week in, week out at race meetings all over Europe. The first Monofaromade its debut in 1947 at a Modena sports car race where Ascari and Luigi Villoresi came first and second. In 1948 Maserati Monofaro chassis number 2007 left the Modena factory gates and began its racing career as a works factory car. The car competed on behalf of the Maserati team in European races before being renumbered by the factory in 1949 to chassis 2010 as was a fairly regular occurrence in period. However, by this time the factory had begun development of the A6GCS Series 2 and so sold the car to an Italian businessman named Giuseppe Vianini. Before WWII Giuseppe Vianini had established a successful business in Argentina as a motorcycle dealer and through his business became involved with AC Argentina Equipe who sponsored promising Argentinian racing drivers to come to Europe. One such driver they sponsored was Juan Manuel Fangio who had proven himself on dirt and gravel long-distance races across South America. These races were far removed from the Grand Prix races held in Europe which were considered the pinnacle of competition racing and so in 1947 Fangio moved to Europe to continue his racing career. Having seen Fangio race in South America Guiseppe Vianini was eager to get the young Argentinian into his Monofaro and began leveraging his contacts with AC Equipe Europe to get Fangio into his Monofaro. For the 1949 Rome Formula 2 race Fangio lined up in chassis 2010 against the dominant Ferrari 166Cs. In reality the Ferraris were always going to win with double the cylinder count but the Maseratis of Fangio and Benedicto Campos provided the only credible opposition. For the 1952 season Vianini, eager to get involved with the South American Maserati dealer network imported the A6GCS to Argentina where he sold the car to Carlos Lostaló. Lostaló continued to race chassis 2010 in the local races around Buenos Aires. At some point in the early ‘50s Lostaló removed the engine and gearbox from “2010” and fitted a Ford V8 engine and continued to race the car throughout the 1950s. The original engine and gearbox went into storage. The car we offer here is a hand-crafted Maserati A6GCS Monofarofeaturing a Siluro body fitted with the original engine and gearbox from chassis 2010, the car driven by 5-time Formula One World champion Juan Manuel Fangio. The engine and gearbox lay in storage for a considerable length of time before being acquired by the car’s current owner who himself stored the drivetrain until recently deciding to commission a replica chassis and body around the original engine. Since arriving in the UK the car has been prepared by expert historic racing specialists and is now ready to be enjoyed either on the race track or on the road. The car is clearly an important piece of motorsport history and represents a rare opportunity not only to own a car once driven by El Maestro but also to experience the masterpiece that is the last true Maserati. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright The Maserati A6GCS is the last true Maserati. - 1987-renault-5-turbo-superproduction
A very special collectors car from the golden era of French Touring Cars. One of only three 'Superproduction' versions of the Renault 5 Turbo ever produced by the factory, 'Ch 3-86', was the actual car used on the Championship-clinching drive by Erik Comas on 25/10/1987 at Pau-Arno. In 1985, Renault selected six brand-new production Renault 5 Turbos to act as donor cars for production-class racing in the French Supertouring Championship. Whilst these cars saw initial success, Renault were determined to win outright in 1987 so, late in 1986, three of the six cars were chosen and heavily re-prepared for the 1987 season to be driven by Frenchmen Jean-Louis Bousquet, Jean Ragnotti and Erik Comas. These three ‘Superproduction’ models were fitted with roll cages by Matter, while chassis development was carried out by technicians at Sonica, who lowered the ride height, widened the track and developed the suspension so that the cars were close to the regulation limit. Renault F3 engine specialists, Sodemo Moteurs, produced a stroked 1419cc version of the R5T engine (nominally 1397cc), Sodemo and SYTEL used their own ECU, ignition and fuel injection systems, designing a new custom inlet manifold for the purpose, and with a wild new camshaft and a new Garret T4/T3 turbocharger with tri-lobe shaft and titanium internals, this particular engine produced 410bhp at 7000rpm using 3.2 bar of boost transmitted to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Renault achieved their aim and Erik Comas won the title in 1987. Renault has confirmed that this very car, 'Ch #3-86', was the actual car used on the championship-clinching drive by Comas on 25/10/1987 at Pau-Arno. Finished in its period-correct and eye-catching blue and red Philips racing livery, the car carries number 25 on the white lower side panels and a host of period sponsorship decals. The most recent service was carried out in 2020 by the Intersport Race Team, comprising mainly routine maintenance to preserve its competitive readiness and mechanical integrity. ‘#3-86’ was recently demonstrated at the ‘Secret Meet’ event at Silverstone and there is a video of this available for interested parties. This Renault 5 Turbo ‘Superproduction’ represents an exceptionally rare and historically significant French Touring Car, combining dramatic widebody styling, a powerful Sodemo Motors turbocharged engine, and proven period racing pedigree. Offered in its original championship-winning livery, it would make a highly collectable centrepiece for any motorsport collection and is capable of serving as a dynamic and capable entrant for significant Motorsport shows and demonstrations around the world. 1987 Renault 5 Turbo 'Superproduction' Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1995-lancia-delta-hf-integrale-evo-ii-edizione-finale
One of just 250 “Edizione Finale” models, the ultimate evolution of the legendary Integrale, immaculately presented with just over 15,000 miles from new. Following an amazing seven years of success in the World Rally Championship for Group A cars, which included four Drivers’ titles and six consecutive Manufacturers’ Championships, Lancia decided to release one final, limited-edition version of their venerable Delta Integrale. Named the Lancia Delta Integrale Evo II ‘Edizione Finale’, production was limited to just 250 examples, all finished in Rosso Amaranto (Bordeaux Red) with narrow yellow and blue stripes over the bonnet and roof. Influenced by the wildly enthusiastic Japanese ‘Deltisti’, who were inevitably going to be the biggest customers, the standard specification included high-back Recaro bucket seats, black fabric interior trim, 16” Speedline wheels finished in Anthracite, push-button start, carbon-fibre trim details, aluminium OMP pedals and passenger footrest, a Momo steering wheel, upgraded engine management to 250bhp, special Eibach springs front and rear, and an OMP strut brace. The engine and drivetrain were identical to the final Evo II, except for the upgraded engine management system, and retained permanent four-wheel drive. According to documents within the history file, chassis# 00586462 was manufactured in December 1994 then delivered new to Japan and first registered in November 1995 featuring option codes for manual air-conditioning, English books and body waxing. The Integrale was then imported into the UK and registered here in 2017. Since then, we are informed that the Lancia has been professionally dry-stored in a temperature-controlled facility and run up to temperature regularly, with only occasional outdoor use for MOT testing or specialist routine maintenance. This last-of-the-line icon is accompanied by a history file which includes a detailed service record from Japan, along with documentation summarising the frequent maintenance prior to export. It appears there is sufficient documented evidence to support the current odometer reading of 24,859km (15,446 miles) and also included in the file are the original book pack with owner handbooks, spare keys, import documents, maintenance invoices, old MOTs and a Lancia Classiche - Certificato di Origine. Most recently, the Lancia received a major cambelt service with a specialist, including belts, engine oil, gearbox service, spark plugs, water pump and brake fluid change, dated March 2023 at 24,776km. The exterior of this example is pin-sharp, truly immaculate and overall, the Lancia presents beautifully. The interior is equally impressive, showing minimal wear, with the door cards even retaining the factory protective film. The engine compartment also presents extremely well, and on test, the car fired instantly, sounded healthy and performed very well with good power delivery, sharp handling and powerful brakes. This is a rare opportunity to own a superb example of the ultimate development of the iconic Lancia Integrale. In outstanding order throughout with just over 15,000 miles from new, it will undoubtedly appeal to both collectors and marque enthusiasts alike and we highly recommend attending our viewings to fully appreciate just how special this Final Edition Evo II really is. 1995 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo II ‘Edizione Finale’ Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Imagine this: it’s 1993. You’re a German banker with a slight penchant for antisocially fast driving, but you don’t want the neighbors to see that you’re actually a psychopath. That’s exactly where the E34 M5 comes in. On the outside, it looks like a car that dutifully shows up on time at the Rotary Club, but under the hood sits a 3.6-liter inline-six ripped straight from the legendary M1 supercar. This was the very last M5 truly hand-built by a group of stubborn men in Garching who refused to listen to the accountants. The result? A machine that just works. And let’s talk about those wheels. The ‘M-System’ Turbines. The average passerby probably thinks you stole hubcaps from an old washing machine, but in reality, they’re designed to ram cool air to the brakes while you’re blasting down the Autobahn at 155 mph. That’s the essence of the E34 M5: absolute form over function. No flashy spoilers or four exhausts the size of sewer pipes just a subtle “gentleman’s express” with the soul of a track monster. It’s the perfect bridge between the days when you actually had to know how to drive and the era when computers decided they knew better than you. It’s a car with balls but wearing a tie. Now, this particular example in Diamant Schwarz Metallic. With just 72,000 kilometers on the clock, this M5 is barely awake. It began life in Japan where they polish cars more often than their teeth and made its way to our showroom via a Danish collector. The condition is so frighteningly good you’ll fall in love immediately, and the toolkit in the trunk is more complete than the average operating room. Forget Bitcoin or soybean futures; this is a tangible piece of automotive history that only grows in value while you enjoy that glorious S38 engine. It’s rare, it’s hand-built, and it’s damn cool. Anyone still hesitating at this point probably deserves a Prius. 1993 BMW E34 M5 Cool Classic Club If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Produced in Lancashire under the ownership and guidance of the gifted self-taught engineer turned racer, Derek Bennett, Chevron Racing Cars remains one of the most remarkable success stories in international motorsport. From modest beginnings and without ever producing a road car, Chevron built machines of uncompromising purpose that consistently challenged and defeated far larger manufacturers. It was a classic 'David and Goliath' story played out on circuits across Europe and beyond, driven by ingenuity, efficiency and an almost obsessive focus on performance. Chevron’s first car, the B1 of 1965, set the template. The letter B standing for Bennett would go on to prefix more than 47 models produced before his untimely death in 1978. By the late 1960s Chevron was at the height of its powers and in 1969 unveiled what would become its final closed cockpit sports racing car, the sublime B16. Introduced at the Nürburgring 500 kilometres, the B16 was immediately recognised as something special. It combined breathtaking aesthetics with genuine aerodynamic efficiency and formidable on-track performance. Visually the B16 represented a clear evolution from the earlier B8, with a far more flowing and cohesive shape. The fibreglass body was originally conceived by Derek Bennett himself and later refined by Jim Clark of Specialised Mouldings, who would go on to manufacture bodies for Chevron. The result was a coupé of exceptional balance and presence, widely regarded today as one of the most beautiful sports racing cars of its era. While most B16s were built as closed cars, a single spyder was later constructed in pursuit of lower weight and increased start money in American racing, providing the conceptual bridge to the later B19. Beneath the bodywork sat an advanced space-frame chassis reinforced with steel and aluminium panels to form a semi-monocoque centre section. Tubular subframes at the front and rear carried the suspension and mid-mounted drivetrain. Power was typically supplied by Cosworth four-cylinder engines, most commonly the FVA and FVC units, though a handful of cars ran alternative powerplants. With a Cosworth FVC of 1,792cc installed, the B16 proved devastatingly effective. On its debut at the Nürburgring in 1969, driven by Brian Redman, it took outright victory, immediately confirming Chevron’s engineering brilliance and competitive intent. The car offered here, chassis B16 DBE 27, is one of the most storied examples of the model. Built in 1970, it was delivered new to Chevron’s Swiss agent and leading racing driver, Jo Siffert. It's believed that during this period the car was rented to Steve McQueen’s production company for the filming of the movie Le Mans, at which time it was finished in red. The car was subsequently sold to another highly talented Swiss driver, Arthur Blank, who enjoyed immediate success, winning on its debut and quickly establishing the car as a formidable competitor. During its early career the car suffered an accident and was later rebuilt, being converted into B19 spyder form for the 1971 season, reflecting the widespread shift away from closed cockpit sports cars at the time. In this guise it was campaigned by Arthur Blank and entered for major events including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, although it did not ultimately take the start. The car continued to race through 1972 in Interseries events, hill-climbs and endurance races, including appearances at Hockenheim and Interlagos, before evolving further into a later Chevron specification - the B21 built in 1973. Identified as Chevron Spartan P271 chassis number one, the car was raced during the 1973 season, before sustaining front end damage. Blank sold the car to Gerhard Kobler who repaired the front section and raced the car at various events through 1974 and 1975 – using a combination of 1,300cc, 1,600cc, 2,000cc and even turbocharging. The car crashed in 1975 and Kobler kept it until being sold to a Swiss collector who rebuilt it, fitting a Cosworth BDA engine and gained FIA HTP papers in 1991, which remain in the history file. In 2009, noted Chevron specialist and enthusiast Vin Malkie undertook a comprehensive restoration, returning the car to correct B16 specification using a replacement Chevron chassis and period correct bodywork finished in Arthur Blank’s 1970 colours, FIA HTP papers were issued which remain on file. Importantly, the original B21 chassis used during the car’s evolution is included in the sale and will be available for collection by the successful purchaser. It should be noted that another Chevron displays chassis number #27 and was reportedly constructed in 2012, however, The B16 offered at our Race Retro auction retains its own distinct and well documented identity supported by an extensive history file. Purchased by our vendor, an experienced and respected historic racer, in 2013, the car has been actively enjoyed and carefully maintained. It is powered by a Ford Cosworth FVC engine built by the renowned specialist Geoff Richardson and has recently benefited from an engine refresh and full season check over by MDV Specialist Engineering. Sabelt harnesses are fitted and valid until 2030 and the plumbed fire extinguisher system is in date. Offered with current FIA HTP papers and recent expenditure, the Chevron is fully prepared and ready for the 2026 season. With its exceptional provenance, striking presentation and unquestionable competition pedigree, this Chevron B16 represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most iconic British sports racing cars of the golden era, a machine that perfectly encapsulates Derek Bennett’s uncompromising vision and Chevron’s enduring legacy. 1970 Chevron Cosworth B16 Sports Racer FIA HTP Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1984-de-tomaso-pantera-gt5
One of only 12 right-hand drive GT5 Panteras built by the factory, this stunning blend of classic mid-eighties Italian exotica and American V8 motivation has been subject to a photo-documented, magazine-featured restoration over the years. Having established himself as a serious automobile manufacturer with the Mangusta coupé, Alejandro De Tomaso commissioned Lamborghini designer, Gianpaolo Dallara, to produce the chassis for his new mid-engined supercar, the Pantera. Dallara opted for unitary construction for the steel chassis/body, abandoning the Mangusta's backbone frame, and competition-specification double wishbone/coil-spring suspension all round. The Ford Motor Company was De Tomaso's partner at the time of the Pantera's introduction in 1971 and consequently the Pantera, like the Mangusta, relied on Ford V8 power. Mated to an all-synchro ZF five-speed transaxle, the 351ci (5.8-litre) Cleveland engine varied in output depending on the destination market, and in European trim offered around 330bhp enabling the Pantera to arrive at 60mph in a little over 5 seconds on its way to 165mph. Styled by Tom Tjaarda at Carrozzeria Ghia, the stunning coupé body was in fact built by Vignale, both companies being part of De Tomaso's empire in the early 1970s. Exceptionally long-lived for a supercar, the Pantera was still around in the 1990s having undergone a series of upgrades. The first major revision of the Pantera's body style occurred in 1980 with the introduction of the GT5 which was a direct spin-off from the racing program, backed but not paid for by de Tomaso. Introduced in 1980, these aggressive looking Panteras featured much revised 'ground-effect' bodywork including a deep front air dam with integral driving lights, rocker panel extensions, flared fibreglass wheel arches, a boot lid-mounted 'delta-wing' spoiler, greater interior comfort and better brakes. Beautifully presented in Rosso Fuoco (Fire Red) over a sumptuous original interior in ruched dark cream leather, this striking Pantera GT5 was acquired by our vendor, a notable private collector, in August 2017 with an indicated mileage of around 5,500 (reset at the point of restoration). He has used it lightly since then and the odometer currently reads just less than 6,500 miles. With the car are two USB sticks containing pictures of the car's restoration works, which took place between 2001 and 2009, as well as many bills and invoices. This restoration was also closely followed by the De Tomaso Drivers Club News which is a quarterly magazine with comprehensive pictures and articles covering all the work that was carried out, the many challenges, and how they overcame them. These magazine copies are in the history file accompanying the car. As a part of this process, the engine rebuild had been finished in 2008 and put on a dyno in 2009, where it gave an impressive 300bhp and 325 lbs/ft of torque. Additional invoices from this period detail other aspects of the restoration including a complete repaint in its original Rosso Fuoco, a dramatic shade that really suits the car. Further work was carried out in 2015 when the transaxle and gearbox were fully rebuilt. Whilst this fabulous Pantera would look at home on any Concours lawn, the GT5 is a serious performance machine that is still relevant today. During a magazine road test a few years ago, respected journalist, Richard Heseltine, described the GT5 thus "acceleration is brutal, even in top. It emits the sort of surround sound fanfare that you imagine will accompany Armageddon and the sustained shove is precisely that: a shove...The Pantera's chassis was good to begin with, which is to be expected of a Gian Paolo Dallara design, but the GT5's setup feels more honed than most...The car corners flatly with no loss of equilibrium and you can power through tight bends without the tail budging an inch. Its composure is rock solid." This is an excellent example of a highly collectable Italian supercar, being one of just 12 right-hand drive GT5 Panteras built by the factory, and we invite and encourage your viewing at our Race Retro sale. 1984 De Tomaso Pantera GT5 Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
