- 1986 Mercedes-Benz 420 SL
The Mercedes-Benz 420 SL is the rarest model in the popular R107 series, and is recognised by marque experts as being a ‘sweet spot’ in the extensive range thanks to its powerful yet refined V8 engine. The 420 SL being offered for sale here was sold new by Normand (Mayfair) Ltd on London’s Park Lane, to an owner who lived in Hyde Park Crescent. It was specified with options that included the expensive and extremely desirable air-conditioning, rear seats, and an outside temperature gauge that took the place of the central air vent on the dashboard. It is superbly presented in perhaps the best colour combination for an R107: Nautical Blue with Beige leather. The front seats are heated, while the dark-blue fabric soft-top is thought to be the original. The car is also supplied with a matching factory hard-top – plus a stand on which to store it when it’s not in use. This 420 SL has an extensive history file that includes the original maintenance booklet and owner’s manual, both of which are still in their original leather wallet. The maintenance booklet records its comprehensive service history, starting with its pre-delivery inspection at the supplying dealer. There are also numerous recent invoices from The SL Shop, which knows this car well, having sold it twice since 2012. It’s been used sparingly in recent years and has still covered only 67,000 miles, but it’s been lovingly maintained along the way and performed faultlessly on a trip to Scotland in the hands of the current owner. Offering a peerless blend of style, versatility and engineering quality, this Mercedes 420 SL not only benefits from the raft of improvements that were made to late-model R107s, but it’s also a well-specified car in its own right, featuring what many people believe to be the best colour scheme and the best engine. 1986 Mercedes-Benz 420 SL The Classic Motor Hub If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1991 De Tomaso Pantera 90 Si
One of 41 produced, The Cultivated Collector’s 1991 De Tomaso Pantera 90 Si, chassis 0025, benefits greatly from loving long-term previous ownership. Today, it presents as an exquisite and highly original example of the breed with 2 owners from new, its original window sticker, certificate of origin, and delivery documentation. 0025 is well known and oft regarded as one of the most original and best examples in the world, sporting its original Gandini designed bodywork, as well as engine and ZF transmission. Having covered a scant 11k KM from new, and with recent servicing at Vantage Motors, 0025 is ready to run with the best. De Tomaso’s original Pantera can trace its roots to being built on the back of the Mangusta, a stunning machine that debuted in Modena in 1970 to critical acclaim from the general public and automotive press, the Mangusta would go on to be the marques most successful model to date. Back on North American soil, Ford was increasingly fraught with the concept of becoming the first American manufacturer to market a mid-engine sports car domestically. In the wake of the failed purchase attempt of automotive goliath Ferrari, Ford struck a deal with Italian Alejandro de Tomaso garnering them an 80% stake in his burgeoning Italian automotive company, De Tomaso. The result of this deal saw the De Tomaso Pantera subsequently available through Lincoln-Mercury dealership lots beginning in 1971. The Ford-De Tomaso partnership would falter before it truly had a chance to flourish, despite selling over 5,000 examples of the Pantera within four years, largely in part due to the effects of the 1973 Energy Crisis. This event resulted in Ford pulling all backing out of De Tomaso in 1975, which did have a silver lining of providing De Tomaso the opportunity to support continued development of the Pantera, gaining the car moderate sales success in Europe. Production of the Pantera continued long into the 1980’s, and as such the company's cornerstone Pantera, was rapidly becoming obsolete in the face of modern offerings from rival marques. De Tomaso’s strategy was to lean on the brilliance of legendary Italian designer Marcello Gandini, who was responsible for penning the achingly beautiful Lamborghini Miura, Countach, and Diablo. Evolving the original Pantera design from Tom Tjaarda, Gandini would comprehensively refresh the Pantera into its penultimate iteration, the Pantera 90 Si, catapulting it into the domain of modern supercars. Beauty, however, was not merely skin deep. Underneath the stunningly reworked Gandini bodywork lay an extensively modified, and lighter, version of the Pantera’s original steel monocoque chassis. Major changes included a lighter, more rigid tubular rear subframe, Brembo brakes, and a new Ford sourced 5.0L V8 engine which was overhauled by the DeTomaso engineers, enabling the Gandini designed Pantera 90 Si to catapult to 60mph in 5.4 seconds and achieve a top speed of 165mph. Striking an ideal balance between performance and cost, the Pantera 90Si was poised to be the perfect limited-edition, entry-level supercar for De Tomaso as the 90’s approached. While the original Pantera was wildly successful in North America, De Tomaso made the decision to not sell the Pantera 90 Si in the North American market. Production began in 1990 with De Tomaso projecting to build 75 examples, however the Pantera 90 Si would end up an unfortunate victim of the struggling global economy in the early 1990’s, with only a reported 41 cars being produced and sold to the public over a 4 year production run. 1991 De Tomaso Pantera 90 Si The Cultivated Collector LLC If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1971 Porsche 911T 1
When Car & Driver magazine gathered a complete set of 911s in 1969, it was the 125bhp T that turned out to be everyone’s favourite. The road-testers included racing driver Mark Donohue, and they all appreciated the model’s torque and usability, while commenting on the overall balance from a car that wasn’t much slower than its more-powerful 911E and S siblings. Delivered on 11 March 1971, the Porsche 911T being offered for sale here was shipped to the USA via the port of Baltimore, and its first owner was Charles Owen of Alexandria, Virginia, on the banks of the Potomac. Optional equipment included a five-speed gearbox, air-conditioning – which added $748 to the $6495 list price – and chromed steel wheels. The car was also specified with the Appearance Group option, which added a selection of visual elements from the range-topping 911S. The 911T had been sold to Mr Owen by Joe Heishman’s Porsche dealership in Arlington, and the original service books show that it was maintained there until at least 1976, by which time it had covered just over 34,000 miles. It was still in Virginia in 2002, albeit now in the ownership of a Centreville-based enthusiast. At 45,000 miles, he had the 2.2-litre, flat-six engine rebuilt, at which point a complete set of new pistons was fitted. The Porsche was then exported to the UK and first registered here in March 2005. Its new owner soon had it inspected by an independent specialist, with the result that a round of mechanical work was carried out that included a new crank pulley and fanbelt. The gearshift mechanism and front brake calipers were rebuilt at the same time, and the floorpan was Waxoyled. More recently, the seats have been retrimmed, and the result is a very well-presented example of the Porsche 911T with a known history and a comprehensive file that includes the original service books. It represents exceptional value for money in the coveted world of ‘pre-impact bumper’ 911s, which have become particularly sought-after thanks to the purity of their design. 1971 Porsche 911T The Classic Motor Hub If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1955 Jaguar D-Type
DESIGNED TO DOMINATE Few sports cars are as justifiably celebrated as the legendary Jaguar D-Type, which was engineered specifically to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Significantly departing from the outgoing C-Type’s architecture, the D-Type was notably one of the first sports racers to feature monocoque construction, highlighted by fabulous aerodynamic coachwork by Malcolm Sayer. The model was powered by a further development of the C-Type’s 3.4-liter inline six-cylinder XK engine, now featuring triple Weber carburetors for improved output. Later customer cars were equipped with 3.8-liter engines fitted with a wide-angle cylinder head, mirroring the specifications of the works racecars, and constituting the ultimate performance iteration of the D-Type. Debuting at the 1954 24 Hours of Le Mans, the D-Type finished a narrow 2nd to a 4.9-liter Ferrari 375 Plus, and a year later it won the race outright with a long-nose body. Jaguar temporarily retired from competition after the 1956 season, but the D-Type continued to flourish in the hands of racing privateers, winning Le Mans in 1956 and 1957 for the Ecurie Ecosse. Coventry ultimately built 54 D-Type customer cars, allowing a fortunate few the privilege of experiencing the three-time Le Mans winner, which arguably remains the marque’s most significant racecar. CHASSIS NUMBER XKD 546 This beautifully restored D-Type benefits from 21 years of fastidious care under current ownership, resulting in a remarkably authentic example of Jaguar’s celebrated sports-racer. According to the combined data of Terry Larson’s D-Type Register, a certificate from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, and research by the consignor, chassis number XKD 546 was built in late 1955 with a short-nose body finished in cream paint over a red interior. Dispatched in December 1955 to Jaguar Cars New York, the D-Type was sold new to Guy Jackson of Chattanooga, Tennessee. During his fleeting ownership, the Jaguar was raced at least twice, with an unknown result at Courtland, Alabama, in July 1956, and two wins at Boca Raton, Florida, in March 1957 (with Jack Ensley behind the wheel). In June 1957 the Jaguar was sold to its second owner, Cornelius Kenslo Thompson of Alabama. The Thompson family campaigned the car at local events like the Courtland Sports Car Races in July 1957, where Thompson’s wife and son participated in two separate races before the owner roared to victory in a 25-lap contest. In late August 1957, the D-Type was entered at the Governor’s Cup at Mansfield, Louisiana, finishing as high as 6th, and at the race at Gainesville, Georgia, in early October the car finished 3rd. This flash of potential was followed by a victory at the Collier Trophy race at Fort Pierce in November. During mid-1958 the Jaguar proceeded to achieve three separate podium finishes, taking 2nd place at the events at Chester, South Carolina; Gainesville, Georgia; and Hammond, Louisiana. The Jaguar reportedly was involved in several minor collisions during these forays, but Mr. Thompson is credited with fastidiously conducting repairs as needed, which apparently included replacing the damaged head-fairing with a smaller one. By mid-1960 the D-Type was acquired by John Lumkin of California, and the car’s racing career continued at Pomona in June 1960 (13th place) and at Del Mar three months later (5th place). After briefly passing through the care of Los Angeles resident Mark Hurwitz, the Jaguar was sold through Alex Lucas in 1962 to Tim Considine, a Hollywood actor perhaps best known for his role on the television show My Three Sons. Lucas had retained Bob Carroll to remove the head fairing and install a new windshield, and period photographs on file demonstrate just how striking the D-Type appeared in this XKSS-style roadgoing guise. After painting the D-Type blue, Mr. Considine regularly drove the car to Desilu Studios, and during this chapter it reportedly appeared in the shows My Three Sons and Perry Mason. Unfortunately, around this time the original 3.4-liter engine suffered a valve failure, and Mr. Considine chose to replace the motor with a 3.8-liter engine. In 1965 the Jaguar was acquired by Robert Otten of Campbell, California, and eight years later he sold the car to racing enthusiast Chris Drake of Hertfordshire, England. Mr. Drake commissioned Lynx Engineering to conduct some refurbishment, after which the D-Type was enjoyed at the meets at Silverstone in 1982 and 1984, and during the 1984 Historic Car Championship. After 20 years of ownership, Mr. Drake sold the Jaguar in May 1993 to fellow Briton David Pennell, and he submitted the car to marque specialists John and Gary Pearson for a full restoration, with particular attention to preserving the chassis sub-frames (which were deemed to be original). Because the rear clip and the top surface of the front bonnet had been battered and stress-hardened during years of use, these sections were removed and replaced with new ones pounded on the original body bucks. The opportunity was also taken to install a new rear tailfin, and the restored coachwork was treated to a bare-metal refinish in British Racing Green. Following these important repairs, the Jaguar was driven to victory by British racing legends Richard “Dickie” Attwood and David Piper, who joined Gary Pearson to win the 1997 Nürburgring Historic endurance race. In 1999 the Jaguar was sold to the world-renowned Academy Award-winning actor and car enthusiast Nicolas Cage. Mr. Cage reportedly displayed the rare D-Type in the billiard room of his Bel Air home, and he commissioned Lynx Engineering to conduct a freshening of the engine while retaining Jaguar expert Jon Pollack to install new exhaust headers. In March 2002 Mr. Cage offered the D-Type through RM Auctions’ Amelia Island sale, and it was purchased there by the consignor, a respected collector based in Tennessee. By this time the car was fitted with a half-width plexiglass windscreen that covered the driver’s side only, and the passenger area had been covered with a racing tonneau. The consignor decided to replace the non-original engine with a fresh motor, retaining Leo Goff’s Memphis Motor Werks to build a new unit to proper specifications with a later 3.8-liter engine block (numbered LA 7568-9) and wide-angle cylinder head. Additional measures included the installation of new wheels. During the current 21-year period of ownership, the Jaguar has mostly remained in private storage, although the consignor made one exception when he campaigned the car at the Brian Redman International Challenge at Elkhart Lake in July 2003. In an effort to secure historic registration with the FIA the owner spearheaded a research process that involved correspondence with former owners, culminating in the issuance of an FIA Historic Technical Passport in May 2009. This beautifully presented D-Type is notably offered with the original front and rear body elements, which might appeal to the future caretaker seeking to steward an important car to a more original state. Documented with a JDHT heritage certificate, FIA HTP, and an invoice ledger reflecting work performed under current ownership, this outstanding Jaguar presents with characteristic flair, offering marque enthusiasts the opportunity to acquire a Coventry legend. 1955 Jaguar D-Type RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1975 Jensen Interceptor MK3
"The only car that makes your mustache grow faster." -Jeremy Clarkson A hand-built car from the Kelvin Way factory near Birmingham, the Jensen Interceptor is a name with history, with previous incarnations dating back to the 1950s. This car is best known for its exceptional coolness. What distinguishes this car, the MKIII, is the evolution of the use of materials. Jensen had long relied on fiberglass reinforced plastic, resulting in cars that were nearly impossible to restore. However, the Interceptor marked a return to a steel body, designed by Italy's Carrozzeria Touring. About the same as a shot of limoncello next to the Beef Wellington! The Mark III Convertible, introduced in 1974, was actually purely intended for the American market to compete with the E-Type. This version came with GKN alloy wheels and air conditioning as standard, as well as revised seats. The year of production determined whether you got a G, H, or J series. In 1971, the 7.2-liter replaced the 6.3-liter 383 ci engine. This is the 7.2-liter variant, and you can actually think of him as a British gentleman with rigid mood swings and a taste for a very strong Scotch! Our “Gentleman's Express” has recently received a careful dose of TLC. The car has been treated with great care to maintain the shine of rust-free perfection. Originally delivered in Bahrain with many special features that we are happy to discuss with you, this example is in exceptionally beautiful condition. She comes from a collection and is ready for the next owner. 1975 Jensen Interceptor MK3 Cool Classic Club If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright "The only car that makes your mustache grow faster." -Jeremy Clarkson A hand-built car from the Kelvin Way factory near Birmingham, the Jensen Interceptor is a name with history, with previous incarnations dating back to the 1950s. - 1990 Alfa Romeo SZ 2
This rare Alfa Romeo Coupé (only around 1’000 examples were ever built) was handed over to its first owner from Basel through the Alfa Romeo Svizzera agency in Agno on the 14th September 1990. He frequently enjoyed his SZ no. 057 with its torquey 210 hp 3 litre V6 Busso designed engine until passing it on to the last keeper in 2014 within then 56‘000 kilometres driven. As can be seen in the full service booklet, the second owner cherished his car in the same way. In 2017 he had a (homologated!) TCPM stainless steel exhaust system installed. The last major service, which included a replacement of the cambelt and water pump as well as an overhaul of the hydraulic cambelt tensioners was completed by a well-known Alfa Romeo specialist in December 2020, at 60’417 kilometres. All maintenance records since 2014 are available and will be handed over together with the original document folder. This SZ has had only two owners, has now covered roughly 61’000 kilometres and is in very good condition with the last Veteran MOT completed in December 2020. 1990 Alfa Romeo SZ Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1966 Alfa Romeo GT 1600 Junior
The Alfa Romeo GT 1600 Junior was introduced in 1972, to plug the gap between the GT 1300 Junior and the larger-engined 2000 GTV. The engine was substantially the same as that of the Giulia Sprint GTV discontinued four years previously, and had the same engine type number. The final drive ratio was again 9/41 as standard on all 105 Series coupés with the 1290 cc and 1570 cc engine. From 1974 on, the GT 1300 Junior and GT 1600 Junior were rationalised into a common range of models with the 2000 GTV and were rebadged as 1.3 GT Junior and 1.6 GT Junior, sharing most of the interior and exterior features with the larger-engined car. The GT Junior has a tight suspension and weighed in at just 930 kg for the 1.3 variant.Because of this, the car would often go onto three wheels, lifting the inside front wheel off the road when driven enthusiastically. Production ended in 1976-77 and totalled 91,964 units of 1.3 lt. Juniors and 13,120 units of the 1.6 lt. Juniors. According to alfa romeo storico, our car AR 1200153 was produced on September 1966 to the Italian market. It is one of the very first (52eme) GT junior made, delivered in one of the best color combination bluette with ‘lusso’ Rosso amaranto leather interior. - 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso
History of the Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Ferrari has offered many exceptional road cars over the course of their celebrated years. The last and best of the Ferrari 250 series, the 250 GT Lusso, has become one of the most celebrated classic Ferraris from this iconic era. A daring and bold departure from the earlier 250 series examples, the sinewy, elegant Lusso was lower and wider than its predecessor and, with its Kamm tail treatment, the dynamic rear lines were fresh and compelling, particularly accented by the sweeping rear glass. Designed by Pininfarina and built by Scaglietti, the Lusso was priced at $13,000 when new – a considerable sum even for wealthy enthusiasts. Positioned between the luxury oriented 250 GTE 2+2 and the competition based SWB, the Lusso delivered the perfect synergy of GT performance, with comfortable amenities, offering everything one might expect from the Ferrari driving experience. Powering the Lusso, the 3.0 liter outside-plug Colombo V12 engine served the car well, though this engine would ultimately concede to the newer and more powerful 3.3-liter engine upon the debut of the 275 GTB. Constructed by hand using alloy deck lids and doors to reduce weight, disc brakes which vastly improved braking, and a shorter wheelbase, these features combined to create a very capable and nimble road car. Unique to the Lusso design, inside the car, both the tachometer and speedometer were positioned centrally on the dashboard, giving the interior a fresh, almost concept car appearance. Production spanned a mere eighteen months with just 351 examples assembled for world markets. Today the Lusso is considered a premium collector Ferrari occupying a vaulted place in the classic sportscar hierarchy. Firmly situated in exceptional company, Lussos are continually sought after for their unique confluence of sophistication, power, and beauty. History of Lusso #4421 According to factory build information supplied for this car, #4421 was the 32nd Lusso built. Completed May 24, 1963, it was finished in Blu 11488 with Russo VM 3171 interior. Originally built with engine number 4421 (internal number 1268/62E), and with the currently fitted gearbox internal number 33, and rear axle internal number 33, #4421 was delivered new to Milanese Ferrari dealer Cripaldi and sold to the first owner SIVAM S.p.A. Societa Italiana Veterinaria Agricola Milano S.p.A, Milan, Italy. By the early 1980s, the car was sold to a US buyer eventually finding ownership with Ferrari enthusiast Robert Long who, in the mid to late 1980s installed engine #06905 in this Lusso. Formerly in a 1965 triple-carb short nose Ferrari 275 GTB, the ill-fated 275 GTB burned in a late 1960s crash, but the engine thankfully survived the ordeal. Eventually the engine was stewarded to UK Ferrari enthusiast Jack Crowther, and later to the US. In 1984 the 275 engine was represented for sale by GT Car Parts, Phoenix, and subsequently installed in #4421 where it has remained for the past 30+ years. Importantly, the 275 GTB engine currently fitted is an original engine, not a Classiche 275 replacement casting. The engine #06905 is stamped with single strike numeric indication and the ill-fated 275 GTB from which it emerged was eventually restored, where it is known to be on the road in Europe though currently powered by a replacement engine. Offering an attractive 50 additional horsepower than the stock 250 GT/L V-12, it is a formidable attraction to an already stunning car. It is reported that at least two other Lussos were refitted with 275 GTB engines in period due to the desirable increase in performance. In 1991 #4421 was offered for sale in the Ferrari Market Letter. At that time, it was reported to have been painted Garnet and trimmed with tan leather interior. After a few owners and significant restoration expense including a repaint in black, the car was offered for sale in 2000 by Fantasy Junction and sold to the current consigning owner, a Northern California Ferrari enthusiast. Finished in black with tan leather interior, the car was in excellent condition supported by restoration receipts totaling $74,000 from Berlinetta Motorcars. After the current owner’s purchase, the car was used for various events. The current owner drove it for approximately six years, showing it at Concorso, The Quail, Friday afternoon runs to the Sonoma coast and occasionally participating in familiar Northern California vintage road events. On one occasion, the owner shipped the car to Boston and drove it to Camden, Maine creating a memorable family event. During this period, the current owner accumulated most of the 8-10k kilometers amassed while under his ownership. In 2007 the engine developed an oil leak in the front cover. The owner selected Northern California Ferrari expert Patrick Ottis for services. After review and conversations with the owner, the owner decided to embark on what would become a six-year nut and bolt restoration addressing every aspect of the car using NOS parts, rebuilding original components, and detailing the car to a very high standard. Restoration efforts concluded in 2013. While at Ottis, the engine was rebuilt with new pistons and all internal rotating components balanced and dyno tested by Hasselgren. Work included a new water pump, generator, starter, and regulator, with radiator repairs performed at Berkeley radiator including a new core and bottom cap. The front disc brakes were zinc phosphate plated and surfaced, a new clutch, clutch plate and bearing installed, and the flywheel resurfaced. The transmission was comprehensively rebuilt with new synchros and gear sets, and the differential was cosmetically addressed having been previously rebuilt with a new pinion and properly set up by Berlinetta Motors, NY. All electrical was addressed as needed including new fuel pumps. The fuel tank was removed and repaired with painting provided by perfect reflections. As the car had only covered 60,000 kms by the 1990s, it was revealed during the restoration process to be very much original, retaining all its original body panels, trim, correct wire wheels, and undamaged original chassis components. Even the fuel filter retained the preserved original stenciled paint graphic and the floor pans, underbody and belly pans remained original, undamaged, and unmodified. Restoration work included items contracted out to specialists familiar with each of these unique areas. New correct copper plated steel brake lines were installed matching exactly to the original type, all four brake calipers and brake booster were rebuilt using Apple Hydraulics, the steering box rebuilt with new seals, NOS Koni shock absorbers installed front and rear, and the front suspension comprehensively rebuilt including correct nickel plating and replacing all bushings and hardware as needed. The A arms, tie rods, control rods, and sway bars were powder coated for durability, and the rear leaf suspension was fully rebuilt including shackle hardware. Pierce Manifold restored all three correct Weber dual-throat downdraft carburetors including comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic restoration with accurate finishes including new jets, new shafts, and butterflies. New correct yellow and brown spiral fuel hoses were installed from the tank to the carburetors. The FIAM horns and compressor were restored along with new ignition coils, plug wires and caps, and all hose clamps, water hoses, fuel hoses, and vent hoses were replaced using correct parts reflective of factory specifications. The steering box and idler arm were rebuilt and refinished with new correct seals, plating, and adjustments. The exterior finish remained impressively nice and was addressed with professional paint correction performed by Perfect Reflections. Additional refinishing and detailing performed on the chassis including paint for the underbody to correct specifications and powder coating for the suspension parts. The exterior chrome was removed and sent out to Christensen's Plating. The Borrani wire wheels were restored by Cork Adams with new three-ear knock offs supplied by Borrani and a new set of Pirelli CA-67 tires with tubes were mounted. The interior was reupholstered by Bob Smith using correct jute padding under the proper low pile carpet. All instruments were removed and rebuilt at Palo Alto Speedometer with NOS clear bezel parts sourced from Margaret in AZ. The Nardi steering wheel was restored by expert David Chamberlain. Further details were painstakingly addressed including correct engine labels and stickers with guidance from Parker Hall and Kilimanjaro Products. The current owner was careful to follow expert guidelines for accurate replating of all hardware using correct black oxide, zinc phosphate, clear cadmium, and dull electroless nickel plating per original specifications. The completed car has since enjoyed consummate care and regular service as needed including cleaning and adjusting for all three carburetors, new floor mats, a rebuilt fuel tank sender unit, and tightening of the oil pressure line at the gauge. Over the past ten years since the restoration was completed the owner has greatly enjoyed this car including its featured selection in the elegant coffee table book “Ferrari – Passion for Design” professionally photographed by renowned automotive photographer Phil Toy. Current Condition and Presentation Today this beautifully restored Ferrari presents as a wonderful example of a properly restored Lusso now gently maturing since the restoration was completed. Though the black paint has mellowed since being applied some years ago, paint correction has yielded excellent results, displaying beautiful deep luster and excellent gloss throughout the exterior finish. Panel fit is excellent with the doors, hood, and trunk exhibiting crisp closure and latching. Minor surface bubbles are evident at the lowest forward corner of the passenger side door and minor blistering on the lower rear fender corner under the rear bumper, neither of which take away from the mirror-like finish that is quite spectacular particularly in highly reflective black. The exterior chrome is excellent throughout with finishes that were performed to a high standard when restored and remain so today. The Borrani wheels are beautifully finished with excellent detail including the polished aluminum rims, bright spokes, and chrome plated knock offs. A matching set of period correct Pirelli CA-67 tires are mounted. The trim, emblems, correct Marchal headlights, taillights, and lenses are all very nicely presented. Glass and surrounding trim are also in excellent condition, consistent with the overall beauty of the exterior presentation. The impressive tan interior presents in excellent condition. The elegant, curved bucket seats are correctly pleated in supple leather showing only mild stretching as typically found on the inside seat bolster corners. The surrounding materials are correct and in excellent condition accented by beautifully finished chrome details. The carpet is correctly trimmed, and edge bound, showing typical shoe wear around the footbox. The dashboard and instruments are beautifully maintained exhibiting excellent color, clarity, clear numeric indication, and fine detailing attributed to the exceptional restoration work performed by Palo Alto Speedometer. The wood rimmed Nardi steering wheel is a fantastic touch adding to the sporting nature of this handsome Lusso, also restored by expert hands. Finishing off the interior, the various details, switches, and inner door jambs are all properly presented. Overall, the interior components have been addressed with care and integrity matching very well with the exterior finish. The trunk compartment is finished with charcoal grey carpet and retains a Borrani spare wire wheel shod with a matching Pirelli tire. Under the hood, the correct 275 GTB engine bears the single strike number 06905 attributed to the original car that surrendered the engine in the 1960s. The engine confidently remains in place as it has for more than 30 years. The engine delivers a nice, gently settled cosmetic impression, prepared with correct finishes, proper hoses, lines, and correct fasteners, all of which were part of the professional restoration carried out by Patrick Ottis and other specialists. Despite the passage of time, the engine exhibits a handsome, high-quality, accurate presentation of the more powerful 3.3 liter 275 engine. Details include Weber carburetors, beautifully finished textured black cam covers, correct oil filters, yellow spiral fuel lines, and correctly traced wiring and lines. As a sporting detail, each of the three Weber carburetors are trumpeted and screened, allowing visual access to the mechanism normally obscured by a large air filter element, here revealing the beautiful Italian mechanical artistry evoked in these incredible machines. The underside of the car is exceptionally well restored and worthy of show field presentation. Finishes are correct and authentic including correct exhaust and mufflers, beautifully finished suspension components, and excellent engine and gearbox castings. Of particular note, the floor pans, underbody and belly pans remain original to the car. The resultant underside is correct and consistent with the cohesive visual and mechanical integrity and exceptional restoration. The car starts easily and warms to idle smoothly on choke, delivering a sweet and tight V12 sound with just the right amount of exhaust burble. The original numbers-matching gearbox engages easily while the clutch takes up smoothly as the revs increase, revealing the historic and unforgettable V12 sound. Acceleration is brisk as power comes on with each gear change. On the highway, the Lusso reveals the GT heritage with excellent cruising comfort and substantially more power on tap due to the higher horsepower 275 GTB engine. Braking is very good, coming down from highway speeds with excellent pedal pressure, even tracking, and responsive suspension. The driving manners of this Lusso will confirm to anyone behind the wheel that this final iteration of the venerable 250 GT is even more exhilarating given the added power of the 275 GTB engine. This Lusso is accompanied by restoration records and service invoices covering current ownership, photographs of the restoration process, correspondence with the agent of the current owner of 275 GTB s/n 6905 discussing the possible purchase of engine 6905, its original belly pan and air cleaner housing with correct three-ear wing nuts, and a set of floor mats. Supported by a superb restoration performed by a cadre of Ferrari experts and enhanced with a correct and original 275 GTB engine, this wonderfully presented Lusso is a fantastic capture of the 250 GT series combining the best of Ferrari history and performance. One of only 351 examples built, this elegant Pininfarina bodied Lusso is ready to deliver superlative performance, elegant touring pleasure, and the delight of owning one of the most beautifully crafted sportscars – one that epitomizes the excellence and excitement of the vintage Grand Touring experience. 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Fantasy Junction If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright History of the Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Ferrari has offered many exceptional road cars over the course of their celebrated years. - 1974-alfa-romeo-gtv-2000---r
The Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce (also known as 2000 GTV) was introduced in 1971 together with the 2000 Berlina sedan and 2000 Spider. The 2000 range was the replacement for the 1750 range. Once again the engine was rationalized throughout the range. The engine displacement was increased to 1962 cc with a change of the bore and stroke to 84 mm × 88.5 mm. Oil and radiator capacities remained unchanged. The engine produced 132 PS (97 kW; 130 hp) at 5500 rpm. The 2000 GTV is most easily distinguished by its different grille. From 1974 on, this became standard on the GT 1300 Junior and GT 1600 Junior as well. The interior trim was also changed, with the most notable differences being the introduction of a separate instrument cluster, instead of the gauges installed in the dash panel in earlier cars. Externally the 2000 GTV is most easily distinguished by the following features: Grille with horizontal chrome bars, featuring protruding blocks forming the familiar Alfa heart in outline. Smaller hubcaps with exposed wheel nuts. Optional aluminum alloy wheels of the same size as the standard 5. 1/2J × 14 steel items, styled to the "turbina" design first seen on the alloy wheels of the Alfa Romeo Montreal. "Turbina" refers to the wheel's resemblance to a jet engine inlet. From 1974 on, the 105 Series coupé models were rationalized and these external features became common to post-1974 GT 1300 Junior and GT 1600 Junior models, with only few distinguishing features marking the difference between models. The last GTV model year was 1974 for the USA. This 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 was built on September 16, 1974, and delivered new in Switzerland before being relocated to France. Chassis AR2444390 was acquired in 2021 by marque specialist and current owner Arnage Classic Cars of Chassy, France, who subsequently carried out a two-year refurbishment that was completed in 2023. Work involved fitment of an Alfaholics carbon-fiber hood, decklid, and doors along with a repaint in Rosso Alfa and an interior re-trim in black vinyl. The 2.0L twin-cam inline-four was overhauled as part of the build and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Additional Alfaholics modifications include a replacement rear axle and limited-slip differential along with their stainless-steel exhaust system, GTA-R suspension kit, and 15″ GTA-style wheels. The car is further equipped with dual Weber 45DCOE carburetors as well as a MOMO steering wheel and overhauled Jaeger instrumentation. This tipo 105.21 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner in the Netherlands with an Alfa Romeo Classiche Certificato di Origine, dynamometer results, and French registration. Finished from the factory in Rosso Alfa, the car was stripped to bare metal and fitted with an Alfaholics carbon-fiber hood, decklid, and doors prior to being repainted as part of the aforementioned refurbishment completed in 2023. Alfaholics GTA-style door handles have also been installed, and further exterior details include Carello headlamps, pop-out rear side windows, and wrap-around bumpers. Imperfections in the finish are shown up-close in the gallery. The 15×7″ Alfaholics GTA-style wheels are mounted with 195/55 Uniroyal RainSport 5 tires, and a matching spare is stored in the trunk compartment. The car was factory equipped with four-wheel disc brakes as well as an independent double-wishbone setup with an anti-roll bar up front paired with a live axle, lower trailing arms, and a reaction trunnion out back. An updated Alfaholics GTA-R suspension with a geometry kit, adjustable dampers, lightweight spring pans and trailing arms, adjustable quick-ratio steering arms, and an aluminum T-bar was added as part of the build. The front bucket seats and contoured rear bench have been fitted with replacement black vinyl upholstery. The dashboard was also refurbished, while the woodgrain trim, headliner, door panels, and carpets were replaced. Additional appointments include a cabin heater as well as retractable front seatbelts and rear lap belts. The leather-wrapped MOMO Prototipo steering wheel frames Jaeger instrumentation including a 240-km/h speedometer and a tachometer with an inset oil pressure gauge along with gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 38k kilometers (~24k miles), approximately 800 of which are said to have been added since completion of the refurbishment. The instrumentation was overhauled under current ownership, and the seller states that true mileage is unknown. The 2.0L twin-cam inline-four was rebuilt by Hesshaus Engineering in Germany as part of the project, at which time it was fitted with dual Weber 45DCOE carburetors and a Pipercross air cleaner. The engine is further equipped with an Alfaholics 45-amp alternator, gear reduction starter, and aluminum oil catch tank. An Odyssey battery is housed in a black-finished Alfaholics battery tray, and a kill switch has also been added. Dynamometer test results are pictured in the gallery and display a peak output of 181 horsepower and 159 ft-lb of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and an Alfaholics rear axle with a limited-slip differential that was installed during the refurbishment. An Alfaholics stainless-steel exhaust system was also fitted at that time. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright The Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce (also known as 2000 GTV) was introduced in 1971 together with the 2000 Berlina sedan and 2000 Spider. The Certificato di Origine from Alfa Romeo Classiche shows a production date of September 16, 1974, and lists a Swiss market designation as well as the factory colors. - 1958 Aston Martin DB 2/4 MKIII
Aston Martin, the company now known for building some of the UK’s sleekest sports cars for consumers and spies alike, was founded in 1913 with the intention of selling Singer vehicles and repairing GWK and Calthorpe models. Founders Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford created the first car badged as an Aston Martin when they fit a four-cylinder Coventry-Simplex engine into a 1908 Isotta Fraschini. Following a brief pause caused by the First World War, the company produced a few race cars and consumer cars before facing financial trouble in 1924 and selling their assets to Dorothea Mary Roby Thorpe, wife of Godfrey Benson, 1st Baron of Charnwood. Bill Renwick and Augustus Bertelli joined Dorothea and began producing racing and passenger cars from 1926 to 1937 before the Second World War once more paused production. In 1947, English industrialist David Brown became Aston Martin’s latest owner after purchasing it for £20,500 from an ad in The Times. Thus began the production of the hailed DB series of sports cars. The DB1, based on the Atom prototype, sold only 15 units from 1948 to 1950 before being replaced by the DB2. Being a more advanced and refined unit, the DB2 sold 411 examples from 1950 to 1953 in multiple body configurations. It, too, was replaced in 1951 with the racing-only DB3 and the grand touring DB2/4 Mark I and II in 1953 and 1955, respectively. In 1957, the Aston Martin DB Mark III was introduced as a successor to the DB2/4 Mark II despite never officially being called the DB 2/4 Mark III. The car was redesigned by Polish engineer Tadek Marek and used an evolved version of the DB2/4 Mark II’s Lagonda straight-6 engine. The standard, twin SU carburetor-powered engine produced 162 hp, although an optional dual exhaust raised that number. A mid-level “DBD” trim level with triple SU 1.75″ carbs and dual exhaust produced 180 hp and was fitted to 47 cars. In contrast, a high-output “DBB” trim featured triple twin-choke Weber 35 DCO 3 carbs, special long-duration camshafts, high compression 8.6:1 pistons, and the dual-exhaust system was rated at 195 hp but was ordered on only 10 cars. All engines were backed by a four-speed manual or an optional automatic transmission. The DB 2/4 Mark III came standard with Girling disc brakes after the first 100 examples. This was also the first model to come equipped with the Bert Thickpenny-designed front grille, which would become a staple of all future Aston Martins. The car could be had as either a drophead or fixed-head coupé or a hatchback. Only 551 examples of the Mark III were produced in the two-year production run, with only 83 of them being in left-hand drive configuration. Thanks to their low production numbers and timeless good looks, the DB 2/4 Mark III has seen strong collectability over the years. They remain an important and storied portion of Aston Martin’s history, and their importance is backed by the strong pricing we still see them bring in what seems to be an increasingly modern collectible market landscape. As with any early British sports car, restoration on these can become a pocket-draining expense very quickly, so finding one that has already been properly restored, with correct and careful ownership to ensure long-term useability, is paramount. This particular example is 1-of-83 LHD units to leave the factory. Chassis # AM/300/3/1672, was built in September of 1958 and dispatched to Charles H. Hornburg Jnr Inc. of Los Angeles, CA in January of 1959 as per the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust records. The car wore a Satin Bronze exterior with an Off-White interior, Firestone Super Sports whitewall tires, and the optional fully chromed wheels. It was delivered to its first owner, Mr. Saul Pollack of Los Angeles, CA, in April 1959. Mr. Pollack was the owner of the Waverly Mansion, president of Karl’s Shoe Stores, and brother-in-law to Mr. Harry Karl, Debbie Reynolds’s second husband and adoptive father of Todd and Carrie Fisher. Mr. Pollack married Mr. Karl’s sister, Sarah. The Aston Martin made its way back to the UK to its second owner in October of 1991. The car was registered in Lancaster, Lancashire, with the license plate VSK 659. In March of 1992, it was sold to its third owner from Hayward Heath, also in the UK, and once again to its fourth owner in April of 1993. In 2002, the car traveled overseas once more to its fifth owner, Baron Paul van der Straten Waillet, in Belgium, where it adopted the license plate VDY 993. The service records on file start around 2006 under Mr. Van der Straten Waillet’s ownership, showcasing the care and attention he put into keeping this British wonder on the road. A major service in September of 2007 at Twin Cam (now Marreyt Classic Cars) in Aalst gave this Aston a new 8.6:1 83mm piston set, cylinder liners, head gasket, water pump, radiator, and other new parts. A return visit in April of 2011 resulted in a new power steering rack. Later, in September 2013, the headlights, mirrors, as well as both horns were replaced with units from RetroClassic Car Parts Ltd. In October 2013, the Aston was sold to its sixth and most current owner. Under their ownership, the extensive catalog of service records continued to expand exponentially. In November of that same year, a new horn button assembly and bonnet lamp mount were purchased from Kevin Kay Aston Parts in Redding, CA. In December, the original Aston Martin “Instruction Book” was masterfully restored by Ann-Marie Miller ACR in London for a total cost of £615.50 in an effort to preserve it for decades to come. In August 2014, the car was stripped and repainted in Fern Green by Frankie’s Auto Paintwork, a color it still wears today. NOS Lucas Le Mans headlights were bought in January 2016 from Rogers Motors in Shutesbury, MA. The headliner and trunk panels were replaced with new, factory-type material in September 2016 by Harry Fraser Vehicle in Bicester, UK. From May to June of 2017, the windshield wiper assembly was restored by Leydon Restorations LLC in Lahaska, PA, with special attention given to repairing the wiper park mechanism. Lastly, in March of 2021, the clutch was replaced by Automotive Restorations, Inc. in Stratford, CT. Being a fairly early Aston Martin makes this DB 2/4 Mark III a rare example of the company’s beginnings. It represents a turning point in the British marque’s story from a largely boutique maker to a more household name in sports and racing cars. Described as “one of the world’s outstanding sports models” by The Autocar magazine, this model was also the first James Bond Aston Martin, being featured in the 1959 “Goldfinger” novel as the “DB III.” This particular example is, without a doubt, one of the nicest to hit the market. Benefitting from decades of meticulous care dating back to its original owner, this Aston Martin DB 2/4 Mark III is as beautiful as it is rare, with only 83 examples being originally produced in LHD configuration. Its previous prestigious owners, along with the countries it has traveled to, give this car a unique pedigree that sets it apart from others in the crowd and would instantly complement any existing car collection. Upon purchase, the new owner will receive the original factory manuals, the original factory build sheet, an original dealer brochure, the BMIHT Certificate, the car’s FIVA Identity Card, a period article about the model, two Concours awards, as well as the service and ownership records on file. EXTERIOR Body And Paint Quite fitting in this shade of green, this DB2/5 MKIII shows well overall. It has consistent panel gaps, is straight down the sides, and the paint has a deep luster. The body has clearly been prepped well in terms of how straight the panels are, with no major issues standing out. However, we can classify the presentation of the paint today as good driver quality as it is revealing its age in a few spots. While it would not prevent the car from proudly being shown or driven regularly, there are some inconsistencies as listed below and photoed. Glass And Trim All of the glass appears to be the correct factory TriPlex glass, with the exception of the passenger vent window which has no markings. The condition of the glass is acceptable, considering the overall age. The windscreen has some light peppering, and the side glass shows a light scratch here or there, with the hatch glass showing two minor pencil-point-sized chips. The trim is all present and appears to have been well looked after, with all emblems and badges present, including some period additions. The door handles and window chrome are the only areas where there are some obvious signs of age, as photographed. Overall not worth addressing for those intending to drive rather than show. Wheels The wire wheels are consistent with the idea of a driver-quality car. They are showing some age in the way of chrome fade and scratching and other such flaws as photographed. Again, good for driving, but they should see attention if the intention is to competitively show this Aston Martin. Notable Flaws The base of the driver's side A-Pillar shows some texture inconsistency in the paint and a crack in the paint. On the bonnet near the same spot is a small area of paint lifting and a small area of solvent popping. The base of the passenger A-Pillar also shows a small bubble and a crack. The passenger door top shows a bubble and a crack as well. Further inspection will show a handful of small pencil point sized knicks in the paint throughout, commensurate with the use this car did see during its last ownership. The fog lights also have some chrome that is showing their age. Please review the photos in detail to see these flaws and any other flaws that may have been captured. INTERIOR Seats And Surfaces The interior is perfectly contrasted with the exterior color with a rich natural leather presentation. The Green piping and aging that is present give it an inviting and genuine feel. The interior is, overall, excellent and was clearly restored all at the same time many years ago to a high standard. There was careful attention paid to elements of correctness, and the quality of craftsmanship is apparent. The door jams are nicely and correctly tended to with newer chrome and rubber as is correct. The dash is the proper finish, as are the fascia, kick panels, mats, and tunnels. All are in excellent condition, with perhaps some patina. The headliner and visors are all nicely refinished, and overall, the interior is impressive right down to the correct original mat in the trunk. There are some areas to mention that could see attention, though not totally necessary. The gauge bezels for the RPM and MPH gauges do have chrome that is failing, and there is some paint worn off on the steering column adjuster as well as some touch-up on the dash where it meets the steering column. Otherwise, this is a well-appointed and well-cared-for interior that has seen a proper refurbishment some years ago. Functionality And Accessories Our testing of the various knobs, pulls, and switches in the car revealed that it is indeed in correct working order throughout. Lighting, windshield wipers, heater motor, etc… all appeared to be in correct working order with no issues to note. ENGINE BAY AND TRUNK Engine Bay The engine bay of this car shows that it has received proper care from knowledgeable custodians and technicians. There was particular attention paid to correctness in the engine bay. Between the various coatings, clamps, correct style wires, stickers, and a general not-to-polished presentation that alludes to how it may have left the factory. A few incorrect items that are minor stand out, such as the new fuel line which we had replaced for safety. One extra spark plug is a little rusty, and the battery is not a correct replica. An extra correct style battery is included along with the original fuel line. Trunk Area The trunk area is tidy; removing the protective mat reveals the original-style mat, albeit cracked from age and under that clean and shiny green paint. Digging deeper, we can access the spare wheel handle, which has been correctly restored to exactly as it left the factory, utilizing a period-correct military-grade fabric with a wooden handle to allow the spare to drop. Underside The underside is very much representative of the excellent driver-quality example that this car is. It is solid, complete, and showing to be well serviced, but perhaps a little oily, greasy, and dirty here or there, as to be expected with a turn-key and reliable British Car. Please refer to the photos to have a closer look. Notable Flaws The engine bay light on the underside of the bonnet, while correct and present, does not currently light up. MECHANICALS Engine The engine starts easily, runs strong, makes strong oil pressure, and remains cool. It is a well-sorted example. Transmission The 4-speed transmission works as well as a 1958-designed transmission can, with no issues to note. It should be noted that the clutch in this car is brand new. Brakes And Suspension The steering and suspension feel responsive and as stiff as they were originally intended by Aston Martin in 1958. Overall, it feels well-serviced and in order. The brakes work well, with no pulling and a strong pedal. As always, it is our recommendation that this car be inspected by a mechanic by the new owner before rigorous use to ensure all systems are in order, as this car has not seen the regular use it was used to in the past two years. Tires The tires are the period-correct style Firestone Deluxe Champion 6.00-16 92P’s on all four corners with date codes of 2014. Technically, they should see replacement, but there are no signs of cracking, and they are still supple to the touch. 1958 Aston Martin DB 2/4 MKIII LBI Limited If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
