Few sports cars have proven as versatile as Porsche's timeless 911, a model that has proven itself capable of being a true grand tourer as well as a rally and circuit car over the past 50 years. A "modern classic" if ever there was one, the 911 was unveiled at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show as the 901, but shortly after it went into production in 1964 became the 911, following a complaint from Peugeot, which had filed a complaint about the use of the central zero for its models. The rear overhung engine architecture of its 356 predecessor was retained, but the 911 used a monocoque structure for its construction and abandoned the Volkswagen-derived suspension of the 356 in favor of a more modern strut and trailing arm McPherson system. In its first incarnation, Porsche's 1991cc air-cooled, single overhead cam flat six developed 130 bhp. When Porsche began to look at ways to improve its successful 356 model in the mid-1950s, it quickly became apparent that a simple evolution would not be enough. The potential changes to the 356 were such that an entirely new model had to be developed. The new Porsche would offer more space for occupants, as well as sufficient storage space for a set of golf clubs. The performance level of the new model was to match that of the 356 Carrera 2, while retaining the refinement of the 'normal' 356. The basic platform layout was to be retained, as well as the familiar Porsche silhouette. Ferdinand, Ferry Porsche's eldest son, was responsible for the design, developing the chassis and bodywork, while his cousin, Ferdinand Piëch, developed the air-cooled flat-six. The first advertisements for the new car stated: "... to design and build - almost without compromise - the ultimate car for getting from one point to another in the fastest, safest and most enjoyable way possible." The 911 is new in every detail, but it is undeniably a Porsche. Thanks to Ferdinand Piëch, the 901/911 was designed as a racing car from the beginning. This is particularly clear in the engine design with its dry sump and overflow Solex carburetors, both of which were developed in racing to make the engine run more smoothly. The overflow carburetors were unfortunately to prove unsuitable for road use. As early as 1964, the factory had equipped ten 904s with the six-cylinder 911 and named them 906s (which is the prefix of their chassis number). This led to confusion with the 906 Carrera 6, so the name 904/6 was preferred. These 904-906s were used to test the 901 engine for competition use in the 911. As it seemed to work well, it was decided not to wait any longer and to enter a 904/6 in the 49th Targa Florio. The race was won by a Ferrari 275 P2. The Italians did well to savour this victory, because the next five editions were won by Porsches. Second place went to an eight-cylinder Spyder 904 Kanguruh followed by a 904/6 (Maglioli-Linge) with a 901 engine. This was the first race appearance of the six-cylinder 911 in a version boosted to 210 hp at 8,000 rpm (901/20 engine). During the course of the year, this engine proved to be remarkably reliable. The green light was therefore given for the creation of a sports version of the 901 for the 911 S. The 911, a sedan? At the time of the 911's racing debut, it was still possible to enter identical cars powered by different engines in different classes. Of course, this required discussions with FIA officials. Fortunately, Porsche could count on the diplomatic skills of Huschke von Hanstein to obtain homologation for the 11 and 911L in Group 2 (touring cars) and the 911T and 911S in Grand Touring (Group 3). Even a lightweight, unbroken 911T like a 911S is approved as a GT car with a dry weight of 923 kg. The reason for the FIA's tolerance is that the first competition 911s were very similar to the production models, at least until the A-series. The only changes were in ride height and torsion bar settings. The gearboxes could be fitted with gears suitable for all kinds of competition. From the point of view of the regulations, Porsche had an unquestionable advantage because the FIA considered the 911 to be a sedan, which even allowed it to take part in certain races where sports cars were forbidden. The commercial benefits were nil as the public considered the victories to be unfair, as the 911s were obviously GTs. The only drawback was that in Group 2 (Touring) and Group 3 (GT), the 911s could not benefit from any increase in engine capacity above 2 liter. Of course, the 911s entered in the Prototype Class could have engines with increased displacement within the limits of the regulations. If the increase in displacement was forbidden, it was of course possible to increase the power. For this purpose, Porsche had obtained the approval of "kits". For the 911 and 911L, they made it possible to easily reach 160 hp. The engine was then called "Rallye" or 2000R. For the 911T and S, the factory supplied an engine identical to that of the Carrera 6, but without the dual ignition. An even more advanced version (with titanium connecting rods) was available, which was reserved for the 911T racing cars. Rallye de Monte-Carlo 1965 : This year, to everyone's surprise, a 904 finished second overall in the 34th Monte Carlo Rally. It was driven by Böhringer (a private hotelier and former Mercedes racer) with Wütherich (James Dean's mechanic) as co-driver. The winning car was a Mini Cooper, much better suited to the terrible winter conditions of 1965, and no one foresaw that Porsches would ever beat the Mini. Just as no one noticed the participation of a 911, the fiftieth 911 to come off the Zuffenhausen production line, whose baptism of fire in competition was the first of its kind. Driven by the extremely experienced factory driver Herbert Linge and engineer Peter Falk, it finished an astonishing fifth overall and second in class. Season 1965: Porsche's participation in the other rounds of the European Rally Championship was a failure. It must be said that Huschke von Hanstein did not consider this to be an activity worthy of great financial effort. Even when rallying becomes a Porsche specialty, it will be with derisory means compared to those devoted to prototypes. It is true that the publicity given to Porsche by the results of the 917 prototypes will somewhat overshadow the rally victories of the small 911. It took all the persuasion and talent of Vic Elford to get Huschke von Hanstein to admit that this was an opportunity not to be missed. 24 Hours of Le Mans 1966: Another historic event that goes unnoticed: the first participation of a 911 at Le Mans. It was a virtually original 911S, 1965 model (chassis 303.355), which was entered in the GT category (under number 35) by Jacques Dewez. Driven by Kerguen and "Franc" (Dewez), it finished fourteenth in the distance classification and twelfth in the performance index at an average speed of 159 km/h. At the end of the race, it was put up for sale and left as it had arrived, by road. Our car: Purchased by the current owner in 2019, our car already has many years of Historic racing under its belt. It will therefore be regularly entered in Peter Auto races and rallies. The car will receive comprehensive and regular maintenance, as evidenced by its invoice records. Major work (engine and gearbox) has been carried out by Berto Moteurs and, since 2021, by Mecacomponent, which provides support. With its valid PTH, it is the ideal car for numerous historic races or rallies and outings with friends. This is an opportunity to acquire a superb 1965 Porsche 911 racing car! Eligible for the Tour Auto, Le Mans Classic and, above all, the highly competitive 2.0L Cup one-make championship. 1965 Porsche 911 2L FIA Historic Cars If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Auto Storica is pleased to announce the sale of this Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 (W111) If Mercedes-Benz is synonymous with luxury, quality, comfort, and performance, it is thanks to vehicles like the W111 generation, one of the finest automobiles manufactured by the Stuttgart firm. The beautiful coupé version, designed by the famous Paul Bracq, was presented to the public in 1961 at the brand's own museum. While the front end was almost identical to the sedan, from the A-pillar onwards its design became more avant-garde and modern. The absence of a B-pillar, the ability to lower the rear windows, and the large rear window provided ample light into the cabin, while also giving it a modern and very elegant presence. Under the hood lies the most powerful engine offered for this generation, introduced almost at the end of its commercial life. A 3.5-liter V8 delivering 200 hp and a considerable torque of 286 Nm, enough to move its 1,500 kilos with ease on any road and in any circumstance. Its interior is in excellent condition and is equipped with all the comforts of the era, adding exotic original extras such as the electric sunroof. Only 3,270 units of this V8 Coupé were manufactured before production ceased in 1971. How many remain today? And how many are in this condition? Whether you've been looking for a W111 coupé for a while or just fell in love with it, don't miss the opportunity to visit it at our facilities. 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Auto Storica If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Ten years after the Countach forever altered the supercar landscape, Lamborghini set to work on its replacement. In April 1987, about halfway through the new supercar’s five-year development cycle, Chrysler acquired Lamborghini, keeping it solvent. The American automaker’s influence would extend well beyond Lamborghini’s balance sheet, with its own design studio reportedly tweaking Marcello Gandini’s original design for the Countach successor. Named the Diablo after a famously ferocious fighting bull, it debuted in 1990 to critical acclaim, praised for its clean, yet impactful shape and impressive performance, as well as its more accommodating interior, for which Chrysler was given much credit. A mid-mounted, 48-valve variant of Lamborghini’s dual-overhead-cam 5.7-liter V-12 engine with computer-controlled multi-point fuel injection was good for 485 brake horsepower and 428 pounds-feet of torque—enough to elevate heart rates and catapult the rear-drive supercar to over 200 mph. The Diablo would carry Lamborghini into the new millennium, with production through 2001 encompassing many iterations, notably including the addition of all-wheel drive—now a Lamborghini mainstay—in 1993. The impressive Diablo offered here won multiple best-in-class awards at concours and exotic car events throughout Florida from 2009 through 2016, while under previous ownership. Since being acquired by the present owner in 2017, it has been driven sparingly and continued to benefit from careful maintenance. Finished in red over tan and showing less than 44,664 kilometers (27,753 miles) on the odometer as of cataloguing time, this pampered Diablo is ready impress its next caretaker along with countless admiring onlookers at future car shows. 1992 Lamborghini Diablo RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1998-honda-integra-type-r
The Integra Type R is a highly sought-after and iconic sports coupe. Offered for sale here is the Honda badged European market special edition number 1101. This Honda is stored in our Aiken, SC climate-controlled warehouse and comes with a current Ohio title. The inventory shown is 100% owned, maintained, and driven by us here at Car Cave Highlights 1.8L DOHC B18C6 VTEC 5 Speed Manual Transmission Factory Red Front Recaro Seats The Integra Type R has a sleek and aggressive design that sets it apart from its counterparts. It sports a compact and aerodynamic body with sharp lines and smooth curves. The exterior is finished in a vibrant Championship White (paint code NH-O), which is the signature color for this particular model. The subtle Type R badging and decals hint about its high-performance nature to onlookers, but the white factory wheels are a dead giveaway. The car sits low to the ground in a well-positioned stance. Inside the Integra Type R, you'll find a driver-focused cabin designed for performance. The interior trim color is officially “red/black” due to the front Recaro racing seats upholstered in factory red. The rest of the interior is finished in a combination of carbons, grays, and blacks. The 3-spoke GT2I steering wheel is suede wrapped and provides a firm grip, while the instrument cluster is simple and easy to read, featuring a prominent tachometer and speedometer. The lesser important (but still necessary) temp and fuel gauges are present. The interior is simple yet functional with a classy 90’s appeal. An aftermarket Pioneer double DIN head unit sits below the factory HVAC controls. Car Cave recently acquired this Type R from it’s Ohio owner who has been a steward to this vehicle since early last year. This vehicle has been garage kept, driven on nice days, and stored under cover. We originally imported this vehicle from an enthusiast in the Morbihan region of France in May of 2023, and were excited for a chance to own it again. The French owner provided us with a well-documented history file, service book, owner’s manuals, French Type R sales brochure, history report (similar to CarFax), and a clean technical inspection. The records and information provided by the owner show a full engine rebuild and clutch installed approximately 7,000 miles ago. Engine machine and build work was completed by a professional shop named Pac Sarl in Cons La Grandville, France with receipt provided. A full respray was performed in France along with a complete mechanical review. This car arrived in the States in superb mechanical and cosmetic condition in 2023. The only maintenance we performed at that time was due to a small coolant leak in the radiator. We installed a new battery, Mishimoto Performance Radiator with Mishimoto Dual Electric Cooling Fans and aluminum shroud. Upon receiving the vehicle in August of 2025, Car Cave completed another mechanical review. The motor and transmission mounts were replaced due to age, clutch system flushed, and steering wheel mounting hardware torque checked. The engine runs superbly well and a short throw shift kit make this Type R a joy to drive. The odometer currently shows 129,296 kilometers but according to documents, technical inspections, and history reports was replaced in 2019. The chassis has approximately 142,000 miles. The gauge cluster was replaced in 2021 due to failure of the original gauge cluster which is common in this era of Hondas and Acuras. Honda Factory Service Records show the Integra was sold new on March 3, 1998, to a then 46-year-old Herr Popiolek Reinhold of Jork, Germany. The selling dealer was Autohaus Hollenstedt GMBH located at Molkenstäh 7, 21279 Hollenstedt, Germany. Contact us to review the service records and history file for this Honda. It's equipped with a 1.8-liter inline-four VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) engine, which produces approximately 195 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a close-ratio five-speed manual transmission, allowing for precise and engaging shifts. The Type R's suspension is specially tuned for improved handling, featuring stiffer springs, upgraded shocks, and a limited-slip differential, providing exceptional cornering abilities and a thrilling driving experience. While the focus of the Integra Type R is primarily on performance, it still offers notable features and technologies. Standard equipment includes power windows, power mirrors, dual airbags, rear wiper, rear defrost, and tilt steering wheel. Previous ownership installed a GT2i racing steering wheel and converted the horn to push button on the dash. A short throw shifter upgrade was also completed by the PO. Pioneer double DIN head unit keeps the music playing on exhilarating drives. However, the emphasis is on delivering a lightweight and engaging driving experience, so creature comforts are kept to a minimum. The previous owner disabled the ABS system for unknown reasons and the ABS light is on. Overall, the Integra Type R is a legendary sports car known for its exceptional performance, precise handling, and thrilling driving dynamics. It remains a highly sought-after vehicle among car enthusiasts and collectors alike, representing a pinnacle of Honda's engineering and performance heritage. - 1975-peugeot-504
When the Peugeot 504 was unveiled at the 1968 Paris Motor Show, it was an instant success. A beautifully designed and well-developed car, built on solid foundations: a front-mounted longitudinal engine with rear-wheel drive. This not only provided a sportier driving experience but also better overall balance. It was a worthy successor to the 404, which had been in production since 1960. Just a year after its debut, the 504 was awarded the highly prestigious title of European Car of the Year. Today, we’re focusing on the convertible version. And not just any convertible: this is a stunning Peugeot 504 2.7 V6 Cabriolet, finished in the iconic Jaune Tullip. The body was designed by Pininfarina, and it shows in every elegant line. Technically, the cabriolet shares much with the saloon, though its wheelbase is 15 cm shorter. From 1970 to 1974, the four-cylinder was dropped in favor of the PRV V6 engine, co-developed by Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo. Due to strong enthusiast demand, the 2.7 V6 made a comeback in late 1974 – but only for two years. That makes this version not only rare, but also significantly more enjoyable to drive. Our example was built in 1975 and has had only two owners – the last since 1982. It presents in well-maintained, charming condition. The color combination perfectly complements the elegant lines of this French icon and has proven to be a strong investment over time. And the best part? The French border is just about a three-hour drive away – the horizon ahead, and a smile on your face. We warmly invite you to experience this remarkable 504 for yourself. 1975 Peugeot 504 Cool Classic Club If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Equipment 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission Whitewall tires Metallic paint finish Cassette radio Removable side windows with storage pouch Fabric soft top Description The first generation of the Chevrolet Corvette – internally designated as the C1 – was introduced in 1953, marking the beginning of America’s most iconic sports car. With its fiberglass-reinforced body, chrome accents, and distinctive front grille, it set new design standards. The 150 hp inline-six engine delivered solid performance. Only 3,640 units were built in 1954, making this early model especially desirable. The C1 is not only a design icon but also a sought-after collector’s item with strong value appreciation. About the car This 1954 Corvette C1 is in an exceptionally original and near-untouched condition. The factory paintwork has been preserved with a protective clear coat to maintain its integrity. According to documentation, the car remained with its first owner, a lady from Ohio, until 1993. It then spent over 10 years as a display piece in a German collection. Automotive journalist Frank Sander once described it aptly as: “A pretty sexy rear end, with details you won’t find anywhere else today.” A true rarity in a tasteful color combination and in authentic “time warp” condition. 1954 Chevrolet Corvette C1 Thiesen Hamburg GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. An icon of sports car design from the moment of its announcement, Posche’s unveiling of the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 at the 1972 Paris Motor Show caused quite the stir. While the company was initially looking to homologate the model for competition in the FIA’s Group 4, which required the production of 500 street legal samples for homologation, customer demand far exceeded this with 1,580 examples built in total. Today, the Carrera RS 2.7 remains one of the most sought-after Porsche’s ever built, and the cornerstone of any great Porsche collection. According to the accompanying Porsche Certificate of Authenticity dated 2002, this 2.7 RS was completed in April of 1973 and delivered new to Munich in its native Germany. Originally finished in Light Yellow, the car was outfitted from the factory with electric windows, an electric sunroof, and a heated rear window. While it is not known how long the car remained in Germany, by the mid-1990s the car had emigrated to France and was registered in Normandy as of October 1995. It was there where the car was restored with new paintwork in its original Light Yellow, and the interior was retrimmed at the same time. Considering that the model was designed with spirited driving in mind, it is not unusual for 911 Carrera RS 2.7s to have lead storied lives, often leading to necessary replacements of important components which could often be easily sourced from more plentiful, lesser 911s, as opposed to finding original Carrera RS 2.7 components. A report carried out by ASCA S.r.l. of Milan in early 2025 shows that although the chassis is that of a correct 2.7 RS Touring, the engine currently fitted to the car boasts a Type 7R 2.7-litre engine casing fabricated in 1979 as a factory replacement. Furthermore, the Type 915 gearbox casing bears production dates of both 1975 and 1976. This report in its entirety can be found in the car’s history file. Considering the above, chassis no. 1046 would be an ideal candidate for historic racing or rallying, or for the keen driver looking to enjoy one of Porsche’s most iconic models on the open road. 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
