  • 1993 Honda Acura NSX

General Overview When Honda first launched the NSX, it instantly established tbe newly established Acura brand as a leading builder of performance cars. Only four years had lapsed since the Acura name emerged as a premier division, but sports car perceptions were about to be forever changed. Honda began their quest in 1984, eager to produce a competitor to Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche by targeting the Ferrari 328 as the car to beat. Honda wanted to meet or exceed the performance of the Ferrari, while maintaining Honda reliability, at a reasonable price. The team developed the commanding naturally aspirated V6 VTEC engine - the world's first production car engine with titanium connecting rods, forged pistons, and ultra-high revving capabilities. With redline at a superior 8,000 rpm, the NSX was tested by Formula One legend Ayrton Senna, who would become a primary performance consultant, convincing the company to stiffen the NSX chassis further after testing the car at Honda's Suzuka GP circuit. In addition to Senna’s extensive contributions, legendary Japanese Formula One driver Satoru Nakajima and prominent American driver Bobby Rahal were both active participants in the car's unprecedented development as the world’s first all-aluminum production car. When the NS-X (short for "New Sports Experimental") debuted at the Chicago Auto Show in February 1989, sports car enthusiasts were astounded by its stance, striking lines, and distinct cab-forward design. Sporting a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout and lightweight aluminum construction, the NSX was hailed by many as the "Everyday Supercar" capable of competing against Ferrari and Porsche, offering incredible balance, sophistication, and reliability, while exceeding everyone’s expectations in essentially every performance category while remaining as easy to use as any modern Honda. Today these unique and desirable cars further engage new generations of enthusiasts eager to experience the astonishing performance as a new classic. History and Build Details of This Car This rare Acura NSX is one of just 598 built in 1993 and one of 194 5-speed manual transmission examples built in the desirable black over black leather combination. An early production sequence example, this car was delivered to the first owner, located in Fort Lauderdale, FL and later moved with the original owner to Greenville, SC where it amassed just 7400 miles before being sold to the second owner in 2011. Though miles were kept low, the second owner engaged Piedmont Honda to replace the timing belt in 2011 before selling it to the third and current owner in April 2012. The current and consigning owner titled and registered the car in August 2013. The California title declares the actual miles at that time of 9,826, which is consistent with the consecutively accumulated miles reflected in the Carfax report. After the current owner’s purchase, a set of California compliant Comptech headers were purchased from DC Sports. The car is also fitted with a DownForce air intake unit for increased air flow (original unit included with the car). This NSX has since passed emissions testing including a recent May 2024 emissions test (certificate included with sale). Services in preparation for sale include the installation of a new timing belt and water pump, new accessory belts, new valve cover gasket, a new set of Continental Extreme Contact tires, fluids checked and topped off and oil and filter change (May 2024). Over the past decade of current ownership this car has been stored indoors as part of a private performance car collection. The owner has preserved the car with originality in mind including the purchase of numerous spare consumable OEM Honda parts more commonly subject to wear on higher mileage cars which are included with the car. Condition Overview Today this NSX presents as an excellent and rare black on black factory example with preserved original finishes of very high quality. Low mileage NSXs have become increasingly challenging to find due to their amazing driving manners. They are literally hard to resist once behind the wheel. For a collector seeking a very nicely preserved and well-maintained NSX, this is a very enticing example. The exterior finish is smooth and glossy exhibiting excellent quality on all factory aluminum body panels including the front and rear flexible composite bumper caps. The black finish has been metered on all aluminum body panels using a digital paint meter which indicated single digit numbers on all metal panels consistent with factory applied paint. The doors, hood, and deck lid open and shut properly with excellent panel gaps and crisp closure. The unforgiving gloss black finish is particularly nice including the door jambs and underside of the hood and engine lid. The glass, trim, emblems, and various lenses throughout the car are like new while the factory glass retains the correct brand etching including the windshield which is free from major chips or cracks. Importantly, the factory VIN door threshold plate and engine bay bulkhead numbers match the VIN further supporting the originality of this factory black on black example. The stance and ride height are correctly positioned on a new set of Continental Extreme Contact Sport 205/50 ZR15 front and 225/50 ZR16 rear radial tires, installed in preparation for sale. The interior of the car is fresh and superbly maintained, showing no significant wear or fading on the carpets, seats, or door panels. The leather trimmed seats are in excellent condition showing only light scuff marks on the entry/exit side driver’s seat bolster, but otherwise displaying very nice factory finishes, proper stitching, and gently softened factory materials. The dash is free from significant marks or shrinkage with no cracks or fading and the steering wheel shows only minor signs of use to the matching black padded wheel. The carpet under both floor mats appears essentially new, and the mats themselves show minimal wear. Overall, the interior shows remarkably well, including the headliner, which appears nearly new. The inside doorsills are in excellent condition with no significant marks or scratches along the brightwork which also bears the correct matching VIN stamping. The rear trunk compartment is also in excellent condition as is the front storage compartment and correct factory spare tire. Under the hood the visual condition of the engine and engine compartment support the low miles with very nice finishes, correct factory details, hoses, air box, and factory labels. The factory stock engine operates as expected having recently benefited from a new timing belt and water pump, new accessory belts, and fluids in preparation for sale. The car starts easily and runs very well with fantastic acceleration, smooth 5-speed shifting, great brakes, comfortable operational features including premium stereo and cold AC, and of course - legendary F1 derived handling. Included with This Car This car is accompanied by copies of selected service records spanning 2011-2024 under current and prior ownership, a spare set of later generation wheels and tires, formerly installed performance headers, stock manifolds for an NSX of this generation, stock side-air intake, an NSX car cover and bag, a spare set of new NSX floor mats, an engine compartment protection cover (new in the factory bag), various Honda OEM replacement gas struts still in the factory bag, and other misc. Honda parts. 1993 Honda Acura NSX Fantasy Junction If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1956-ac-aceca-bristol

The AC Aceca is one of the finest sporting GT cars of its time, and the beautifully restored example being offered for sale here is one of only 169 that were built new with the powerful Bristol straight-six engine. Chassis number BE576 left the factory on 22 September 1956 as the sixth Bristol-engined Aceca, and its early build date means that it’s eligible for the modern-day Mille Miglia. It was finished in blue with cream leather seats and blue piping, and was sent to the Eastern Auto Company in Singapore. There it was bought was a WS Cowie, who was from Kuala Lumpur and went on to drive his Aceca in a support race for the 1960 Johore CoronationCup. The AC was later acquired by Richard King, an American businessman who lived and worked in Singapore. The car’s history file even includes some of his old insurance certificates from the Automobile Association of Singapore. When Mr King returned to the USA in 1972, he took the Aceca with him to his home in Carmel, California, where he was a neighbour of Clint Eastwood. By that time, the car was in need of restoration, but having bought some engine parts from Bristol’s Chiswick-based service department in April 1973, the work unfortunately went little further and the unfinished Aceca remained in Mr King’s garage for the next 40 years. It was then acquired in 2015 by an English enthusiast via Gullwing Motors of New York. Having been shipped across to the UK, the AC was treated to a full restoration, which included having the Bristol 100D engine rebuilt to fast-road specification by Coltec Racing Engines in Suffolk. The restoration is fully documented within the car’s comprehensive history file, and the owner used the Aceca on the Mille Miglia before selling it in 2018. Since then, it has been fastidiously maintained and has benefited from the fitment of an aluminium radiator and an electric cooling fan. With its combination of fabulous styling and that crisp, powerful six-cylinder engine, this AC Aceca Bristol is a rare and extremely attractive car that is still superbly presented after its rebuild. 1956 AC Aceca Bristol The Classic Motor Hub If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. This breathtaking 'perfect' classic has been restored according to the uncompromising standards of our Neugeboren Process, ensuring it looks, feels and drives like new. Of course the car is covered by our full, world-wide warranty. Those familiar with us know how incredibly rare it is to find a "new" Hemmels classic available for immediate acquisition. The car was originally created for a client just before the initial lockdown in the UK. The client necessarily confined the car to being displayed in his private garage, driving it less than 250 miles since delivery. Hence, this is an incredible opportunity to obtain a 280SL Pagoda of the absolute highest possible quality from Hemmels without having to wait for the typical 18-24 month build period. Note that the car is left-hand drive and ready for use in the USA or mainland Europe, though touring on UK roads with a LHD is no chore -other than avoiding the admirers who are awestruck by its beauty! Respectfully, we anticipate a significant interest in this Pagoda, and we advise potential collectors to contact Hemmels poste haste. • 1953-ferrari-166mm53-competition-berlinetta

Chassis 0146 (0346) was the last of the second-series 166MMs made. The new-for-1953 version was introduced for privateers to contest two-litre sports car racing. Thirteen chassis were allocated with a 2250mm wheelbase, with power provided by the same two-litre, all-alloy single overhead cam per bank V12, but now with 6-port cylinder heads and three gurgling, quad-choke downdraught Weber 36 IF/4C carburettors. Another revision was the use of roller cam followers, as trialled on Ferrari’s Aurelio Lampredi-designed ‘long-block’ V12. These modifications helped reinvigorate the ‘Colombo’ unit, increasing revs to 7,200rpm and boosting power to a claimed 160bhp. This resulted in a hike in top speed from 110mph to a highly-impressive 137mph, depending on gear ratios. Wet sump lubrication was via an oil cooler mounted vertically to the right of the water radiator. Fuel supply from the 117-litre fuel tank was delivered by twin front mounted mechanical fuel pumps. Power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a five-speed Type 212/ EU ’box (with synchromesh on third and fourth gears) and a single plate mechanically-actuated clutch. The front end was suspended by means of a transverse leaf spring arrangement, the rigid rear axle set-up comprising semi-elliptic springs with Houdaille lever-type dampers all-round. The addition of twin parallel trailing arms on each side at the rear on Series II – or Tipo 166MM/53 - cars was also a major step forward in terms of ride and handling over earlier editions. The efficient braking system was hydraulically operated and had aluminium drums with steel liners, with Route Borrani providing the oh-so attractive wire-wheels. According to the factory build sheets, our car was completed in July ’53, and signed off by Ing. Franchini. Intriguingly, after the first test he noted: ‘Scarso di Potenza a tutti I regimi’. Roughly translated, this means ‘A lack of power at all levels’. Later annotations state: ‘Motore complete di carburatori modificati.’ Pininfarina’s own records claim that the coachwork was finished on July 9th of that year, the first owner being industrialist Kurt Zeller. The German owned an iron and steel works in Hammerau, a small town southeast of Munich located close to the Austrian border. Zeller clearly had the means to indulge himself, having previously owned a 212 Inter Coupé. Just to irritate future historians, this car was returned to the Ferrari works upon taking delivery of the 166. As was often the case around this time, the new car assumed the identity of the old one, ostensibly to circumnavigate crippling import duties on luxury goods. Thus, it ostensibly became chassis 0146 E and carried the existing registration number, AB-39 4060. An amateur racing driver from a time before the term became a slur, Kurt didn’t waste any time fielding his new toy. He teamed up with his younger brother, factory BMW motorcycle star Walter Zeller, and participated in August’s ADAC Nürburgring 1000km, round five of the inaugural World Championship for Sports Cars. Lining up with Modena’s new big guns, a trio of 375MMs driven by GP aces including eventual winners Alberto Ascari and Giuseppe Farina, the Zellers retired the car late in the race after running out of fuel. A degree of confusion surrounds which sibling drove and which one sat in the navigator’s seat, but they claimed third place in the 1600-2000cc class. The following year saw Kurt Zeller and new wingman Alois Willberger take part in the Tulip Rally. They placed a highly-respectable thirteenth from 128 finishers and claimed class honours. The 166MM was sold shortly thereafter to a dealer who in turn moved it on to a US serviceman who was stationed in Germany. The car then headed Stateside once his tour of duty was completed. In February 1956, the car was sold once again and, by the early ’60s, it had found its way to Connecticut where its youthful owner managed to damage the engine. A 250GT block was substituted. The rectangular fog lights fitted by Zeller remained. The car was subsequently traded between dealers in Trenton, New Jersey and Hampton Falls, New Hampshire before being acquired by Georgia-based Greg Miller in 1974. By this time, the car was in need of restoration. The car then sat in the grounds of Miller’s home in Lawrenceville near Atlanta where, over the next four years, it slowly communed with nature. Scroll forward to September 1979, and the car was saved by Gerald T. Sutterfield who moved it into dry storage at his home in West Palm Beach, Florida. The noted marque authority had hitherto saved several important ’50s Ferraris, and 0346M was stripped and the chassis part restored, only for other endeavours to take precedence. The turning point arrived in May 1999 after fellow collector, Florida’s Wayne Sparling, gifted the original engine block to Sutterfield from his cache of parts. The scheme never really found traction, though. Two years later, word began to spread that the restoration project was for sale. Enter DK Engineering’s founder, David Cottingham. A visit to Florida resulted in a complete and detailed inventory. It soon became clear that the 166MM was largely complete and remarkably original. Pinin Farina job numbers were still stamped and chalked on several parts, not least the fuel tank and inner panels. The chassis had been repainted in the wrong colour, but there were no signs of prior accident damage, whilst the factory-installed gauges, switchgear, wiring loom and even the steering wheel were also still in place. The car was acquired in 2002 and with a sponsor in place, it was shipped to the UK and DK Engineering embarked on a total restoration. This was no easy task, not least because every attempt was made to retain as much of the car’s originality as possible. Period images of the car outside the Pinin Farina factory at 107 Corso Trapani, Turin proved invaluable. Clive Smart of Shapecraft was tasked with repairing the car’s body, which proved somewhat taxing. The recreation of the missing grille, for example, required three attempts before Cottingham was satisfied. Inevitably, there were challenges with restoring thin aluminium coachwork. Handmade bodies, by definition, are not symmetrical, and Pinin’s ’shells were typically smoothed over with filler prior to painting. However, every effort was made to retain as much originality as possible and any sheet metal removed has been retained with the car for posterity. Then there was the small matter of replacing the missing windows and frames, with Pilkington Glass being commissioned to recreate the original split windscreen. As in period, the side glazing and curved rear screen were shaped from Perspex. Other details, such as the side wind deflectors and the bonnet-sited fly screen were also remade. In order to prolong the V12’s lifespan, improvements were made without affecting the visual appearance of the running gear. A lighter flywheel was also installed along with an easier to operate clutch. Sourcing the few missing parts was time-consuming, to say nothing but expensive, with the missing fuel pump being found at auction. Recreating the period colour scheme wasn’t without its headaches either, but thankfully elements of the original blue was discovered inside the car. As with all DK’s top level restorations, the paintwork was trusted to their usual supplier. The finishing touch was a perfectly replicated chrome serif ‘D’ which was mounted to the car’s pert rump. The restoration was completed in early 2005, the car passing to Dutch collector Henk Koel later that year. In 2006, he had the honour of returning the car to Italy for the first time in more than 50 years when it was displayed at the Concorso d’Eleganza in the grounds of Ville d’Este. The 166MM was subsequently garlanded with honours at the concours at Paleis Het Loo only a few months later. It has since appeared in numerous articles in titles such as Classic & Sports Car, Cavallino and Ferrari World. Not that it was a trailer queen, Koel exercising the car on the Ennstall Classic in Austria among other events. There aren’t enough adjectival phrases that can adequately describe just how lovely this car is. Photographs don’t really lend a sense of scale. It’s smaller than you think; more delicate-looking than its bigger-boned 375MM cousin. It looks quite unlike any other 166, being tauter and less fussy than most comparable Vignale-bodied offerings of the period. So many stylistic elements here were later transposed onto other Pinin’ GTs, not least the signature Perspex-ensconced headlights, the ‘egg crate’ grille and push-button door handles. Then there are those large ducts aft of the doors which are in place to cool the rear tyres rather than the drum brakes. Step inside and all the ’50s Italian racer-reference points are present and correct right down to the Veglia instruments, original alloy-spoked steering wheel and body-coloured dashboard. It may be pared back in true competition-style, but it is elegant with it. Even the cross-bracing to the roof, or the simple pull cords inset in the doors are period-correct and not out of place. What’s more, it’s far more spacious than preconceptions might have you believe, with plenty of headroom for the taller driver. It’s truly, really lovely. The car received Ferrari’s Classiche certification in December 2018 confirming the originality of the engine, suspension and body. DK Engineering sold the car from Koel to its current custodian in 2019 who promptly enjoyed it as intended on the Mille Miglia. In the years since, the car has been used sparingly in sunnier climes returning to DK in September 2025. The significance of this 166 should not be underappreciated; this car ticks all the boxes, with period competition history in both the World Championship for Sports Cars and internationally-significant rallies. It is also exquisitely beautiful. Perhaps more than anything, though, its worth – as opposed to its value – lies in what it represents, or rather what it led to. All other Pininfarina-styled Ferrari GTs owe a debt to the car pictured here. That’s quite a legacy. 1953 Ferrari 166MM/53 Competition Berlinetta D.K. Other Cars from D.K. • 1980 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4

Introduced at the 1973 Paris Motor Show, the Dino 308 GT4 was a significant departure for Ferrari in several ways. It was the first production car from Modena to feature a mid-engined V8, a layout that would become common to their core range for decades to come, along with the first production model to feature Bertone styling rather than Pininfarina bodywork. The chassis was based on the Dino 246 but was stretched to make space for a 2+2 configuration and the 3.0-litre V8 was integrally joined with the gearbox and featured an alloy block and heads with dual overhead camshafts fed through four Weber 40 DCNF carburettors. The styling was controversial at the time, with some journalists comparing it to the Bertone-designed Lancia Stratos and Lamborghini Urraco, and the proportions gave traditionalists an attack of the vapours but, as is often the way, Bertone's styling effort probably looks better now than it ever has. For all this, the car was a huge success being bigger and more usable than any other mid-engine car had managed or would manage for a while. More than 3,600 were sold, dwarfing sales of V12 models and showing Ferrari the way forward. Today, these '70s Ferraris have come of age with their classic looks and brilliant handling and are as fast as you are ever going to need in the real world, with a top speed of over 150mph and 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds. Chris Rea, the singer, songwriter, and musician has an enduring passion for Ferrari with many finding their way through his hands over the years, however, one particular model has been a constant within his stable, that being the Dino GT4 appearing in many guises, from out and out race versions which have been spiritedly campaigned by him over the years through to superb road-going examples such as this particular steed, the latest to have received the Rea touch. Purchased some years ago in need of a little TLC, the decision was taken to entrust Ferrari specialists QV of London, with whom Chris has a longstanding relationship, to fully recommission his latest acquisition to ensure longevity and reliability wherever possible. As is often the case, the timescale to complete the restoration became elongated as the list of desired works steadily increased, resulting in the bodywork being refinished, the engine being fully rebuilt and enhanced, the interior being fully refreshed and the running gear totally overhauled. Looking deeper into the schedule of recommissioning and the associated invoices, it's noted that the engine now has fully balanced internals including the high-compression pistons and polished crank, the running gear was totally removed and stripped prior to being totally overhauled, re-bushed and powder coated as required but not before the decision was taken to fit uprated springs and dampers, new brake calipers - front and rear, stainless brake hoses, a new steering rack and much more. The 308 GT4 is one of the few small Ferraris that suit a two-tone colour scheme, Chris' own Ferrari Pirelli Challenge car was red and gold, but in this case he chose to finish it in (we understand) a very stylish Grigio Ferro over Blu Dino Scurro. The Bordeaux Red seating and carpets present beautifully and the refurbished Cromodora alloys are as you would expect from a quality recommission. Unusually, it's one of the very rare cars with 'factory' rear seats 'delete' which may seem strange as the GT4's raison d'etre was the extra seating, however, luggage space in the 308GTB was minimal so as a 'touring' car it made sense. With the recent in depth recommissioning, Ferrari aficionado ownership, celebrity provenance and magazine featured, this is one GT4 that will enhance any Prancing Horse collection and is ready to be enjoyed as intended when it rolled off the production line almost 45 years ago.. It should also be noted that so fresh is the build that a period of running in is still required. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the opportunity on offer. 1980 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1966 Porsche 914

First registration 12.1966 Matching numbers and color Porsche Certificate of Authenticity 48 years in the first ownership of Howard Shoemaker Swiss road registration with veteran entry The Porsche 911 Coupé offered here was delivered by Porsche Cars America in November 1966, in the color Polo Red and black leatherette, to the famous cartoonist Howard Shoemaker from Omaha, Nebraska. Howard Shoemaker worked for Porsche USA and Playboy, among others, in the 1960s. His Porsche cartoons were much appreciated in Stuttgart. The booklet with Shoemaker cartoons that Porsche published for its customers in 1964 is a rare and sought-after item today (an original is included with the car). Cartoons by Howard Shoemaker were also published in various issues of the Porsche Christophorus magazine. Shoemaker covered a total of 55,000 miles in his 911 before he parked it in his garage in the early 1980s and only finally parted with the car in 2014, after almost 48 years of ownership. It found a new owner and enthusiast in the UK, who gave the coupé a complete restoration. About a year ago, this beautiful Porsche 911 Coupé was imported to Switzerland and is, fresh from a major service and MOT veteran, in excellent and well-maintained collector’s condition. It is matching numbers and color and very well documented via a copy of the Kardex with all the facts of the first delivery, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the original US title and many other documents. The Porsche 911, also known as the nine-eleven for short, is the Stuttgart-based company’s best-known sports car and is regarded as the epitome of the brand. Body variants are the Coupé, the Cabriolet and the Targa. In the past, the Porsche 911 was successfully used as a racing car in the World Sports Car Championship and the German Racing Championship. The first 911 version built in series from September 1964 was the so-called original model presented at the IAA 1963 with a 130 hp 2-liter six-cylinder boxer engine. Even when stationary, this 911 is a homage to the original, the clarity of the mechanics and the art of omission. 1966 Porsche 911 Lutziger Classic Cars AG If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1970-lancia-fulvia-sport-zagato-1300

1970 Lancia Fulvia Sport Zagato – Rally-Inspired | Sourced in Italy | EU-Based The Lancia Fulvia Sport Zagato is one of those rare cars where design, engineering, and motorsport pedigree come together in a way that still feels distinctive today. Built by Zagato for Lancia, the Sport was always the more unconventional and aerodynamically focused counterpart to the Fulvia Coupé—lighter, rarer, and unmistakably Zagato in its execution. We sourced this car ourselves in Italy and imported it to Belgium, selecting it specifically for its honest condition and strong overall character. It is a car that immediately stood out to us as something we would enjoy using ourselves. This is a late Series 1 (Tipo 818.362) example, featuring the desirable lightweight construction with aluminum bonnet (side-hinged), doors, and spare wheel compartment—details that define the early Zagato-bodied cars. Rally-Inspired Configuration Rather than being preserved as a static collector piece, this Fulvia has been prepared with clear intent: to be driven and enjoyed, in line with the model’s competition roots. The upgrades have been carried out in a coherent, period-inspired manner and include: Widened fenders accommodating a more aggressive wheel and tire setup Quick-release fasteners on bonnet and rear lid Bucket seats with harnesses The result is a car that visually and functionally reflects the Fulvia’s rally heritage, while remaining usable on the road. Condition & Driving Character This example presents as a well-sorted driver, with a straight body and an honest overall appearance. It sits correctly on gold Fulvia wheels, fitted with modern Dunlop tires for improved usability. It is not positioned as a concours showpiece, but rather as a driver-focused classic—engaging, lightweight, and full of character in a way few cars of the period can match. Why This Car At Car Cave, we look beyond rarity alone—we focus on cars that justify their place both on the road and in a collection. This Fulvia stands out because it combines several highly desirable characteristics: Early Zagato construction, including lightweight aluminum panels A rally-inspired specification that enhances both presence and usability Careful sourcing in Italy, selected by us for its authenticity and condition An honest, non-over-restored presentation, increasingly difficult to find A driving experience defined by lightness, precision, and character, rather than outright power It is a car that appeals not only on paper, but behind the wheel—offering a more nuanced and engaging alternative to more conventional classics. A distinctive and carefully selected Fulvia Sport Zagato—combining rarity, character, and usability in a way few classics can. 1970 Lancia Fulvia Sport Zagato 1300 Car Cave USA If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1962 Jaguar Series 1 E-TYPE FHC

Following a painstaking recent restoration, this is a concours-ready example of perhaps the best-looking Jaguar E-type of all – the Series 1 3.8 Fixed-Head Coupé. Chassis number 887371 was built on 1 November 1962 and was originally finished in Cream with a Red interior. It was dispatched on 10 November to Jaguar Cars New York, but little is known of its subsequent life in the US. It’s thought to have spent some time in Florida during the 1980s before ending up with a collector on the East Coast who intended to have it restored. Sadly, he still hadn’t got around to having that work done by the time the E-type was offered for sale in 2019. The car had been painted green at some point but it was still complete and matching-numbers. Having been shipped back across the Atlantic and offered for sale in the UK, it was acquired by a British enthusiast and entrusted to E-type specialist Gibsons Classics in Burton-upon-Trent for a ‘nut and bolt’ rebuild. After the car had been completely stripped down, it was decided to replace areas such as the floors, front bulkhead, top scuttle panel, inner wheelarches and rear lower quarter panels, with new panels being sourced from Martin Robey. Once the bodywork had been taken back to bare metal and repaired as necessary, a respray was carried out in Gunmetal Grey by Coventry Automotive Refinishing at a cost of £14,000 – and the bonnet has subsequently been coated with a Paint Protection Film. A long-manifold, big-bore, stainless-steel exhaust system from Classicfabs was fitted – complete with a heat shield for the alternator conversion – and the differential was reconditioned as part of a complete overhaul of the IRS unit. During the restoration it was decided to fit an alternative period correct 3.8-litre engine-block, which along with the original cylinder head, was prepared by Rob Beere Racing. RBR Sportsman con-rods were fitted, the crankshaft was reground, and a new flywheel was matched to it. The original engine-block (R8575-9) has stayed with the car and is offered as part of the sale, and the E-type retains its original Moss gearbox (EB7723JS). An upgraded cooling system was specified, complete with Kenlowe fan, the electrics were converted to negative earth, and a modern starter motor and high-pressure fuel pump were added. Having been converted to right-hand drive – and a smaller wood-rim steering wheel fitted – the Jaguar was retrimmed by AM Automotive Interiors. After the finishing touches had been applied, the car was MoT’d during the summer of 2021 and returned to the road for the first time in more than 30 years, having been given the registration number 301 XVK. Now being offered for sale at The Classic Motor Hub, this beautifully presented Jaguar Series 1 E-type would be equally at home on the concours field as it would be showing off its immense performance on a cross-country run. The suspension features adjustable dampers and the wheels and tyres have also been upgraded, giving this E-type a much-improved level of ride and handling. All of the expenditure from its restoration is carefully catalogued in the car’s history file, there is a complete photographic record of the work carried out, and it also comes with a Heritage Certificate. MODEL HISTORY Still recognised as a landmark model, it’s little wonder that the Jaguar Series 1 E-type is one of the few cars ever to have been displayed in the New York Museum of Modern Art. It was introduced at the 1961 Geneva Salon, and aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer came up with one of the most beautiful automotive shapes ever created. At a time when 100mph was still a significant figure, the E-type offered 150mph performance from its triple-carburettor, 265bhp, 3.8-litre straight-six engine. Beneath the skin, it owed much to the Le Mans-winning D-type and shared that car’s basic layout of a monocoque centre section with a subframe carrying the engine and front suspension. At the rear, independent suspension was fitted when many of Jaguar’s rivals still employed a traditional live axle. With the marque having pioneered the use of disc brakes in the early 1950s, it came as no surprise that the E-type featured them on all four wheels. Although it was first and foremost a road car, and Jaguar was far too busy meeting demand to get involved with a full competition programme, the E-type proved to be an effective racer. In 1961 it was quick enough to scare anyone in a Ferrari 250 GT SWB, and the following year E-types finished fourth and fifth overall at Le Mans. In 1963, Jaguar produced a short run of 12 Lightweights, which were able to go toe-to-toe with Ferrari’s GTO. The E-type was offered at a fraction of the cost of its rivals from Ferrari and Aston, and when The Motor road-tested one in 1961 it concluded: ‘The sheer elegance of line which Jaguar seem able to produce by total disregard for fashion trends is allied to a combination of performance, handling and refinement that has never been equalled at the price and, we would think, very seldom surpassed at any price.’ Production was slow to get under way during 1961, but thereafter modifications came thick and fast. A 4.2-litre engine was introduced in 1964, and the heavily revised Series 2 followed in 1968. The V12-engined Series 3 then took the model through to the end of its production run in 1974. 1962 Jaguar Series 1 E-TYPE FHC The Classic Motor Hub If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SVZ

This beautifully prepared Alfa Romeo Giulietta ‘SVZ’ has regularly been raced over the past few years and is eligible for some of the finest historic motorsport events in the world. Chassis number 04045 was built as a standard Giulietta Sprint on 1 March 1957 and sold on 3 June that year via the official Swiss importer – Societa per il Commercio dei Prodotti Alfa Romeo in Lugano. It has been suggested that it was rebodied as early as 1960, while it was still in Switzerland. Close inspection of the bodywork as well as the age and method of welding (Oxyacetylene) indicate that the body has been on the car since the 60s. The Alfa returned to Italy in July 1975 – when it was given the Potenza registration PZ99308 – and stayed there until it was sold to a Portuguese enthusiast in early 2000. He used it for historic rallying, fitting a rally-tuned 1750cc engine and a five-speed gearbox, and entered it for events such as the Tour d’Espagne. The SVZ was then sold to a new owner in Belgium, who set about making it more comfortable for road use, a process that included – among many other things – overhauling the brakes and fitting adjustable dampers as well as a modern starter motor and an alternator. In 2014, the car was acquired by an English enthusiast who prepared it for circuit racing by removing the 1750cc engine and replacing it with a correct 1290cc unit that was sourced from Classic Alfa. It featured a gas-flowed cylinder head, hardened valve seats, forged pistons, steel rods and race cams, and the Alfa – having also been painted white – was then raced extensively in series such as FISCAR. Its most recent owner has continued in the same vein. A full rebuild of a correct Type 102 1300 engine has been carried out using Carrillo con-rods and an Arrow crankshaft. The result is 129bhp at the flywheel, and since then the engine has been used for only a handful of track sessions. It was FIA inspected and sealed less than six months ago. The Alfa has also been treated to a full rewire with a bespoke braided loom, a new roll cage has been fitted, and the gearbox was rebuilt during the summer of 2022. A limited-slip diff has been installed, the exhaust system replaced, Tillett carbon fibre seats fitted, and it comes with two sets of wheels and tyres. No expense has been spared in its preparation, and this extremely competitive SVZ has been raced at blue-riband events such as the Goodwood Speedweek (Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy), Goodwood Members’ Meeting (Moss Trophy, 2021) – as well as the Pre ’63 GT and Woodcote Trophy (Pre- 56) at the Silverstone Classic in back to back events. Its aluminium body has many of the features that are particularly sought-after, such as the ‘double bubble’ roof, round wheel arches and covered headlamps, and it would make an attractive, competitive choice of historic racer. Now being offered for sale by The Classic Motor Hub, this well-sorted Alfa Romeo SVZ is supplied with an FIA Historic Technical Passport and is also eligible for the Le Mans Classic and road events such as Tour Auto and Modena Cento Ore. Please note the registration ONJ 1 is not supplied with the vehicle, a date correct registration will be provided by DVLA. MODEL HISTORY The SVZ was not an official Alfa Romeo model, but instead had its origins in the Giulietta Sprint Veloce that was crashed by Massimo Girolamo Leto di Priolo on the 1956 Mille Miglia. Rather than having it repaired by the factory, he took it to Zagato, which stripped off the steel body and replaced it using aluminium panels that were considerably lighter. The revised car was also much more aerodynamically efficient and it was immediately successful. Leto di Priolo won his class in the 1956 Coppa Inter-Europa at Monza, and soon other hopeful racers were beating a path to Zagato’s door in order to have their Sprint Veloce rebodied. Such was their bespoke nature that there was no set ‘style’ for the SVZ. Some had the signature ‘double bubble’ roof, others didn’t; some had covered headlights, others didn’t. Beneath that bodywork, however, the basic mechanical components of the Sprint Veloce remained – complete with the 1.3-litre twin-cam engine that could be tuned in period to give up to 115bhp, plus the four-speed gearbox. It’s thought that only 16 genuine SVZs were built by Zagato in period, and competition success included outright victory in two gruelling events in 1958 – the Marathon de la Route and the Coupe des Alpes – as well as countless class wins. Although some people at Alfa Romeo were pleased with the publicity, others were less than thrilled that it was being generated by a model that wasn’t built ‘in house’. The result was an official partnership between Alfa Romeo and Zagato to produce the Giulietta SZ, which made its debut at the 1960 Geneva Motor Show and led to the legendary Giulia TZ. 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SVZ The Classic Motor Hub If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
