  • 1980 BMW M1

Single family ownership from 1980 – 2019 BMW’s only mid-engine sportscar Recent major mechanical servicing and preservation restoration completed by Canepa BMW tool roll kit, road hazard triangle, medical kit and spare wheel/tire Rivalry has always been an effective catalyst for producing some of the world’s most well-designed sports cars. Companies always have pushed their designs to the limit to beat out their competitors in efforts to win the affection of consumers on the street and championships on the track. The BMW M1, the Bavarian Motor Company’s first mid-engined sports car, was just that. Originally conceptualized to go up against the likes of Porsche’s incredibly-dominant racers, the M1 became an iconic street car with its racing counterpart gaining widespread success in Group 4 racing. Born from competition, wearing Italian-designed bodywork by Giorgetto Giugiaro and built by German specialty coachbuilder Baur, the BMW M1 team effort created one of BMW’s most iconic vehicles of all time. This BMW M1 began its life with a single Bay Area family and remained in their possession since new. Importing the car from Germany from new was John Davila. During his life, John owned a total of three M1s and was very much in love with the style and design of the M1. Of the three cars, two came to him in orange and the other in blue. This example he drove for a few years when he first acquired the car before deciding to do a comprehensive and very detailed color change to white. Among all of the cars that John owned and drove over the years, this M1 was the car that he kept. In the early 1990s John passed away, leaving his prized M1 to his two sons who inherited his passion and love for automobiles. Wanting to keep one of the fondest lasting memories of their late father, the family stored the car in the San Francisco Bay Area where it would remain until early 2010. Upon exiting its storage, it was completely serviced so the two brothers could enjoy the car. Both of the brothers described being able to drive the car allowed them to experience their memories again of their father and all of the fun times they had together in the M1. In 2017 the car was given a comprehensive service by Canepa that included service, mechanical repair, and preservation restoration including work on the wiring harness, alternator, fuel system, suspension bushings, and brakes. The M1 was also given a sympathetic preservation of the interior, using new original carpet and Überkaro black checkered cloth inserts in the seats while preserving all of the original black leather. In 2019 it returned to Canepa to complete all of its mechanical servicing and refurbishment, restoring all of the mechanical systems as needed. The car was treated to a full “Canepa Difference” experience, with all systems on the car inspected to be working in correct order. Items that were addressed included: restoring the entire exhaust system, wheels refinished, new tires, a comprehensive engine tune up, engine reseal, new coolant hoses, new injection pump belt, exhaust gaskets, engine lid struts, air conditioning service, plug wire set, and all fluids changed. It was then given a complete concours-level detail, ensuring that every surface was pristine. The white paint was polished using only a foam pad and polish, needing very little work to be brought to showroom standards. In all, an investment of over $125,000 was put into this white M1 to bring this car up to a concours “preservation-quality” level. Now this stunning 1980 BMW M1 is ready for its next caretaker to enjoy driving or keeping it in a collection. Maintained and preserved to the highest standards – a rare example of BMW’s most iconic sportscar. 1980 BMW M1 Canepa If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1972-porsche-911-24l-s

Porsche 911 2.4L S (1972) – Mastered Power Few sports cars have shown as much versatility as the timeless Porsche 911, the iconic model from Stuttgart. When Porsche considered a major evolution of its famous 356 model in the mid-1950s, competition from powerful rivals like the Jaguar E-Type, Ferrari 250 GT, and Mercedes-Benz SL pushed the German manufacturer to aim even higher. With over 76,000 units produced, the 356 had already established Porsche as a major player in the sports car market, but a profound renewal was necessary. Ferdinand "Butzi" Porsche, son of Ferry Porsche, was tasked with designing a new elegant yet functional silhouette, while his cousin Ferdinand Piëch developed an innovative engine: the famous air-cooled flat-six. Initially presented under the name 901 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, it was quickly renamed 911, clearly displaying its ambitions: increased comfort, performance equal to the Carrera 2 version of the 356, and a trunk volume suited to modern demands, such as accommodating golf clubs. It was an immediate success and the 911 went through a series of rapid developments. In 1972, Porsche introduced a new generation of engines, increasing displacement to 2.4 liters, available in three distinct variants: the entry-level 911 T (Touring) with carburetors, the mid-range 911 E (Einspritzung) featuring mechanical fuel injection for an optimal balance between performance and comfort, and the sporty 911 S (Sport), the flagship model offering superior performance. The 911 2.4L S stood out thanks to its advanced technical specifications: a 2341 cc engine achieved by increasing the stroke of the crankshaft (from 66 mm to 70.4 mm), connecting rods treated by the Tenifer process, and Bosch mechanical injection type 911/53 ensuring precision, power, and durability. This version delivered a remarkable power output of 190 DIN horsepower at 6500 rpm and a generous torque of 199 Nm at 5200 rpm. The dry-sump lubrication system, inherited from competition, significantly improved reliability under extreme conditions, making it suitable for intensive circuit use. The interior of the 911 2.4L S received special attention: the cockpit featured supportive sport seats upholstered in leather or leatherette according to customer preferences, a leather-wrapped three-spoke sports steering wheel offering excellent grip, and a comprehensive, clear, and readable instrumentation panel. The central tachometer, a genuine Porsche hallmark, was complemented by a speedometer calibrated up to 250 km/h and precise gauges monitoring oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The entire interior exuded quality and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring comfortable journeys even during extended sporty driving sessions. In competition, the 911 2.4L S quickly made its mark with exceptional performance and reliability. It notably triumphed at the Monte Carlo Rally, where Björn Waldegård secured a memorable victory in 1972. The car also performed impressively in the legendary Targa Florio and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, regularly ranking among the best in its class under the prestigious banners of teams such as Martini Racing and Brumos Racing. A direct precursor to the iconic Carrera 2.7 RS introduced in 1973, the 911 2.4L S shared several technical innovations, including Bosch mechanical injection and optimized cooling systems, enabling Porsche to push performance boundaries even further with the legendary RS. Today, the 1972 Porsche 911 2.4L S remains an essential benchmark, perfectly embodying the Porsche spirit: a flawless blend of elegance, innovative technology, and enduring sporting success. Acquired in 2015 by its current owner, who then lived between London and France, our 911 2.4LS comes in a very elegant blue livery with a chocolate interior. It will enable its driver to take part in his first rallies or trips to the European continent. As such, it will benefit from regular servicing and a number of comfort enhancements for regular use, such as a Porsche car radio. To this day, the 1972 Porsche 911 2.4L S remains a benchmark, the perfect embodiment of the Porsche spirit: a perfect marriage of elegance, innovative technology and enduring sporting success. The car is still registered in England and can be viewed in our showroom in Paris. 1972 Porsche 911 2.4L S Historic Cars If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1964 Abarth Simca 2000 GT

The final evolution of the Abarth-Simca Coupé following the 1300 and 1600 cc models, the Abarth-Simca 2000 was introduced in 1964. Its powerplant was based on Simca’s 1,500 cc engine block and was capable of producing over 200 bhp, a staggering figure for such a small displacement engine. But perhaps what really caught the attention of everyone looking in the engine bay were its carburetors, a pair of the largest Webers ever produced, 58mm-choke DCOs. Capable of eating Porsche 904s for breakfast and dicing with Ferrari 250 GTOs (Abarth-Simca 2000s were faster than the GTOs at Montlhéry in 1964), these diminutive cars quickly gained a reputation for being the automotive equivalent of David to Ferrari, Porsche, and Jaguar’s Goliath. Abarth-Simca 2000s dominated hill climb championships and circuit racing, putting the major manufacturers on notice. While not much is known about 046’s early history, photos of the car wearing its original numberplate, TO 596033, exist showing the car racing. The car was first registered in Turin in January of 1964 directly to Abarth in Turin according to its original Carta di Circolazione, which supports the claim in John de Boer’s Italian Car Registry as 046 being an official factory run car. However, this claim nor its race history within its native Italy has yet to be verified otherwise. An Automotoclub Storico Italiano certificate dated December 1992 shows the car as being in the ownership of Mauro Lotti of Florence, and 046 is believed to have resided in Italy from new. The car was acquired by the father of the current owner from a gentleman collector based in Tuscany in 2019. The following year, the car recieved a service which included an engine rebuild and four new tyres. These 2.0-litre Abarth-Simcas are said to provide an absolutely incredible driving experience and have well-earned their giant-killer reputation both in period and historic motorsport events alike. Looking respondent in light blue paintwork, this would be an exciting car to race at events like the Tour Auto or Goodwood Revival, but also the perfect car for some spirited Sunday morning driving. 1964 Abarth Simca 2000 GT RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce ‘Twin Spark Restomod’

Penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, the 105’s clean and distinctive design made it one of the most attractive small coupes of the 1960s and 70s and the earlier ‘Stepnose’ cars were the first of that body shape and seen as the most desirable. In recent years the trend largely initiated by Alfaholics has been to modify 105 series Alfa Romeo’s. This ‘Stepnose’ is an example of one of these types of ‘Restomod’ cars and heavily influenced by the Allfaholics cars. The quality of our car is truly exceptional in every respect. After 9 years of ownership the owner embarked on a meticulous build to take the car to one of the best we’ve ever seen. The level of quality in all areas of this car is without fault and a credit to the team involved. The car was completed in 2020 and has done only around 3000 kms since. Owing to a change in personal circumstances he now needs to let the car go to the next custodian. This presents a great opportunity for the next owner to purchase the car at a fraction of the cost of the initial investment. Invoices which accompany the car total in excess of $130,000 which excludes the purchase price of the car itself. The engine was replaced by a rebuilt 2-litre twin spark with fuel injection managed by the Omex ITB ECU system. The induction noise from this set-up is simply wonderous and as expected it just pulls and pulls and pulls. The body shell was stripped, and any compromised metal was replaced. The colour whilst not original Alfa Romeo is Pino Verde Metallic – it looks simply stunning and is inspired by the Ferrari colour used in period. It compliments the interior tan colour so well. The quality of the paint and its application is flawless and the best we’ve seen. As part of the panel work done to the shell, strengthening sections were applied to increase rigidity which translates to improved performance and road holding. As expected, numerous Alfaholics parts have been used throughout the car. Turn the key and the engine fires up with a familiar Alfa Romeo growl. Out on the open road this car is just superb and is without doubt one of the most memorable test drives we’ve had the pleasure of conducting. The brakes and handling are pin sharp and the induction noise from the throttle bodies is intoxicating. Above 4000 rpm the power really starts to take hold, and the car really gets moving. The feedback is superb and the whole sensory experience is as good as it gets. Braking is helped with the fitment of Brembo’s from a later Alfa Romeo 75 and a limited slip diff and hydraulic clutch is also fitted too. Having said this the way this car has been set-up is incredibly impressive. It is not harsh or uncomfortable in any way. The ride is compliant, and it is perfectly comfortable to drive around at normal speeds. If, however, you then choose to become a bit more ‘enthusiastic’ then its character reflects this and delivers in spades. The owner specified this requirement in the build, and it has been delivered perfectly. Of note is the fitment of an electric air conditioning unit which increases the level of comfort and the cars practical use. This type of unit removes the need for under bonnet ancillary items keeping the engine bay open. The installation is excellent, and its efficiency in operation puts many modern cars to shame. It is neatly fitted to the dash area and is very simple to use too. The gearbox has been inspected and is easy to use and everything performs as expected. Elsewhere inside, the cabin feels light and airy and a nice place to be. The dashboard was refurbished with a carbon fibre face and then a satin clearcoat applied. It is a lovely detail point and pleasing to the eye. Everything works as it should with every guage completely restored. The seats use the correct Alfa Romeo materials, and the interior is a real feature of this car. A new and correct type of headlining has been fitted and the driver is greeted by a beautiful Nardi steering wheel. USB connections are available and integrated microphone too. The boot has a replacement carpet, and the rear wheel well deleted to allow for the installation of the aircon unit. The wheels are GTA style replica’s and shod in Bridgestone tyres. The engine bay is a work of art and pin sharp and presents beautifully. The battery has been moved to the boot and is in a discreet area hidden from view. As you would expect the underside of the car presents is as clean and fresh as it is on top. Overall, this represents a spectacular performance enhanced ‘Stepnose’ with a huge amount of work done and significant investment made. The work was done by experts with these 105 Alfa Romeo’s and it shows. This would be a perfect buy for someone considering restoring an ‘Alfaholics’ like car but wishing to avoid the wait or costs! The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright Penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, the 105’s clean and distinctive design made it one of the most attractive small coupes of the 1960s and 70s and the earlier ‘Stepnose’ cars were the first of that body shape and seen as the most desirable. • 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL

"The one is a sports car with limousine comfort, the other a comfort limousine with sports car performance. Which one will you choose?" - Mercedes-Benz As the cherry on top, Mercedes launched the 280 SL W113 in 1967 after the great success of the 230 SL and 250 SL. For many of us, they saved the best for last. A larger 2.8L engine with 20 additional roaring Stuttgart horses and an insanely sharp-sounding inline-6 made all the difference for many people, making this model an instant success. The chassis was a shortened version of the W111 S-Class generation, and the M180 was, in reality, an advanced development of an aircraft engine. With its elongated nose, large Bakelite steering wheel, rear-wheel drive, and immense popularity, the model earned itself a nickname: the Pagoda. The nickname ‘Pagoda’ comes from the W113 model range's distinctive roof design, which resembles the curved roofs of Far Eastern temples... need we say more? Ours is a prime example! Originally delivered in the Netherlands at the end of 1968 and since then owned by only 3 happy owners. Under its last owner, this example was professionally repainted in Arabergrau Metallic, which, combined with the red interior, gives this already stylish Pagoda even more character. Exceptionally well-maintained, which you’ll feel every second behind the wheel.
