- 2000 Lamborghini Diablo 1
The Lamborghini Diablo debuted on 21st January 1990 as the replacement for the Countach. Marcello Gandini's design language of a wedge shape and cabin-forward design carried over to the Diablo, but it was considerably refined and made less angular, both in the pursuit of aerodynamic performance and to increase its appeal to a wider audience. Power was sent rearward from a 5.7-litre, fuel-injected version of the evergreen Giotto Bizzarrini V-12 engine, capable of 485 horsepower and a top speed over 200 mph. This latest Lamborghini also introduced creature comforts such as power windows and mirrors—though the steering remained unassisted (for the early cars), and an air-conditioning system was optional (until 1997). At the 1993 Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini unveiled the Diablo VT, an all-wheel drive variant with cosmetic and mechanical improvements, which altogether greatly improved its high-speed tractability over the base model. Looking to increase driver and passenger comfort, upgrades included a lighter clutch, slightly bigger seats, a restyled dashboard, and an improved air-conditioning system. Intakes were added to the VT’s front fascia near the driving lights, to assist in cooling the new four-piston Brembo brakes. The driving lights themselves were also increased in number and output to aid visibility. Power steering now helped to make the car easier to control, along with an active suspension with electronically adjustable dampers. The all-wheel-drive “viscous traction” platform was borrowed from the limited production GT model, as was the 6.0-litre V12 engine, with mechanical and electronic revisions, the output was rated at 549 hp and a hugely impressive 457 foot-pounds of torque. The already quick Diablo was now capable of covering the 0 to 60 mph dash in just 3.8 seconds, and on to a storming top speed approaching 210 mph, only being outpaced by a handful of exotics that included the McLaren F1 and Jaguar XJ220. This example of the desirable, late model Diablo was delivered new to America in the year 2000. It arrived finished in the distinctive and appealing hue of Blu Ely, an exceptionally rare colour of which only 3 Diablos are known to have been painted in; with the interior adorned in Ivory and black leather, carbon fibre, and navy blue carpets. During its recent ownership, the car has built up a collection of documents, including frequent servicing invoices with recent work, including the annual service, being completed in November 2019. Since then, the vehicle has been driven less than 1,000 kilometres. Despite the low distance covered in later years, the car has seen thorough and comprehensive work, with no fewer than 11 services completed since 2016. As well as the mechanical and performance focussed improvements that were brought to the diablo when the VT 6.0 debuted, there also were also advancements in terms of NVH and interior build quality, which can largely be attributed to the takeover of Lamborghini by Audi as part of the Volkswagen group, post Chrysler merger. To many, this makes later Diablos the sweet spot in the longstanding and iconic Lamborghini V12 lineage, with earlier cars simply being more compromised and less well constructed, and more contemporary cars being too sterile thanks to the increase in VAG involvement. The pleasant hue of Blu Ely was introduced to the Lamborghini pallet late into the 2000 model year, and the Diablo was the only model to be available in the colour, until it was brought to the Ad Personam pallet when the studio expanded in 2013. A shade comparable to the more contemporary Blu Cepheus, although the latter is a touch lighter and pearlescent. It can also remind one of alluring Porsche Paint to Sample blues such as PTS Rivera Blue or PTS Mexico Blue in certain light, which demonstrates well the depth and versatility of Blu Ely, despite it being a non-metallic and non-pearlescent finish. This Diablo currently reads 42,250 kilometres from new, and comes with the original toolkit in great condition, as well as its fuse and bulb kit, service records and history documents. This car presents a great opportunity to own a more modern, more refined Diablo in great mechanical and visual condition, adorned in a rare and attractive colour combination. 2000 Lamborghini Diablo D.K. - 1973 Porsche 911T
This 1973.5 911T is a beautiful example, finished in its original shade of Aubergine over a black vinyl interior. It is believed that this car has not undergone a comprehensive restoration but was the subject of a respray in the 1980s, which was done to a very high standard and has aged gracefully over the last 40-odd years. Sitting on a set of 15” Fuchs forged 5-spoke wheels, this car has all of the visuals you would want in a short-bumper 911 including a single flag mirror on the driver’s door and chrome exterior trim. The interior is classic 911 and wonderfully simple but this example does benefit from a number of nice optional extras from the period. The black vinyl comfort seats are fitted with headrests and are in good condition but do show some wear, as does the white headliner, which has a few areas of becoming detached behind the driver’s seat. This 911T was fitted from the factory with air conditioning which is a very desirable option on 911s of this era, and it works- cooling the car well for a system of this age. A period correct Blaupunkt head unit is integrated in the dashboard and features a single speaker, mounted centrally in the dashboard. Powering this 911 is a 2.4-liter air cooled flat-6, with the unique Bosch K-Jetronic CIS system, which was only available in this bodystyle for half of a year. The engine is believed to be numbers matching and the engine bay presents nicely. Not overly done-up like you may find in a fully restored car, but clean and clearly well cared for over the last 50 years. The engine runs well and pulls strongly, and when paired with the 5-speed 915 transaxle, it provides an enjoyable, lively driving experience. Mechanically, the car checks out in good condition but does show some minor leaks on both the engine and gearbox-which are to be expected in an air cooled 911 of this age. In the world of classic 911s, rarity factors into nearly every conversation and it is believed that less than 1,950 of these 1973.5 911Ts were produced, making it a truly uncommon car. As one of the final small bumper 911s produced, this 911T benefits from all the updates done to the chassis over its production run, and presents in very nice, honest condition throughout. Whether you are looking for a stock weekend driver or the basis for a restoration or outlaw project, this 911T is a fantastic starting point. 1973 Porsche 911T ISSIMI, Inc If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1957 Ferrari 250 GT
Enzo Ferrari’s passion may have been racing cars, but by 1950, he had begun to accept that exclusive road cars were needed to finance the company’s growing competition efforts. Early roadgoing Ferraris were built in very small numbers, usually to special order, with no attempt at standardization. A significant change occurred in 1954, when the Pinin Farina-designed 250 Europa debuted in Paris. It was Ferrari’s first true production model and would form the foundation for all future Ferrari 250 models. At the time of the unveiling of the second-series 250 Europa GT, Pinin Farina was in the process of building a new, much larger production facility and did not yet have the space to build the larger quantities of cars that Ferrari was requesting. Accordingly, the new 250 GT Coupe design they created was handed over to Carrozzeria Boano, headed by one of Pinin Farina’s designers, Mario Felice Boano. He proceeded to build 68 cars with slight styling alterations from the five cars that Pinin Farina had already built, the most notable being a lower fender line. When Boano’s namesake moved to Fiat in 1957, his son-in-law, Ezio Ellena, took over production under the banner of Carrozzeria Ellena. Ellena, too, made minor cosmetic changes—in particular, a raised roofline, prompting the use of the terms “Low Roof” for Boano-built bodies and “High Roof” for those by Ellena. Originally finished in Grigio with a Rosso interior, this “Low Roof” Boano coupe was delivered to noted Ferrari customer and businessman Giorgio Mondadori in the spring of 1957. The Mondadori Group would become the largest publisher in Italy and Sig. Mondadori would go on to purchase several new Ferrari GT cars through the 1960s. Subsequently 0639 GT was exported from Italy to England in the late 1960s, and by the following decade was exhibited in Jim Baxter’s Lark Lane Motor Museum in Liverpool, finished in red with a tan interior. Mr. Baxter maintained the car for many years, during which time it was mentioned in the April 1986 issue of Thoroughbred & Classic Cars and appeared in the Ferrari Owners’ Club England roster with registration “EPD 27 B.” Starting from the early 2000s, the Ferrari was owned by Jean-Roger Bossut, of France and Belgium, who would have marque specialist L’Officina in Brussels rebuild the numbers-matching engine and carry out other mechanical work. In 2007 the coupe took part in the Ferrari 60 Relay anniversary event in Reims-Epernay, France. In 2012, the coupe changed ownership and was registered in the United Kingdom, where it was cosmetically refurbished to its present color scheme of Argento Auteuil Metallizzato—a pale silver-blue metallic—with a gray roof and tan interior. Any inconsistencies with factory specification were also remedied at this time in preparation for the Ferrari Classiche certification that was completed in 2014, confirming the engine, gearbox, and bodywork to be original to chassis 0639 GT. A digital copy of the Red Book certification accompanies the sale. Further, the consignor has recently paid for a replacement copy of the physical Ferrari Classiche Red Book, which shall be delivered to the new buyer upon receipt from Ferrari Classiche. In December 2017, the original numbers-matching engine was rebuilt by noted marque specialist Terry Hoyle. Acquired by an American collector in 2018 and brought to the United States for the first time in its history, the coupe’s careful upkeep has persisted with recent minor mechanical work to improve drivability and performance. In August 2022, it was shown at The Quail, a Motorsport Gathering in Carmel Valley, California. Now offered with copies of previous registration documents, owner correspondence, and numerous service invoices detailing its cherished existence, this beautifully presented full numbers-matching 250 GT Coupe by Boano, replete with coveted Ferrari Classiche certification confirming it still retains its entire original drivetrain and bodywork, is eligible for the Mille Miglia, Tour Auto, and other prestigious events around the globe. 1957 Ferrari 250 GT RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. One of 73 400 Trophy’s built by Venturi for the 1993 season, this particular example is chassis 0062, which was acquired new by American gentleman racer James Sheehan, and subsequently campaigned by him in the Venturi Trophy series in a bright yellow livery featuring an American flag covering the roof. However, 0062 would not race the full season as Mr. Sheehan defaulted on installment payments owed to Venturi for his car, seeing Venturi seize ownership of the car where it remained dormant until being acquired by the second owner, a French collector, who retained 0062 in his private collection for a significant period of time until 2010. During his custodianship, 0062 participated minimally in track day events before changing hands twice more, the second time being its acquisition by The Ascott Collection in 2013, who sold it to the fifth owner in 2015 who displayed it at the fabled French automobile show, Retromobile. Since 2015, 0062 would change ownership twice more, where most recently it raced in the 2017 Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or, Europe’s oldest historic car meet at the Dijon-Prenois circuit, before being acquired by its current American owner and moving to the United States. Today 0062 benefits greatly from its lack of on-track racing in most rounds of the Venturi Trophy series during 1993, and subsequent minimal track days, as it presents in highly preserved condition with its original bodywork, never having been crashed or wrecked - a truly rare feat for a 400 Trophy. 0062 is turn-key and waiting to effortlessly hound race tracks the world over, or participate in the highest caliber historic racing series. 1993 Venturi 400 Trophy The Cultivated Collector LLC If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1991 Lancia Hyena Zagato
What is it? It’s a Lancia Hyena – essentially a Delta HF Integrale Evo 1 sporting purposeful fastback coupé bodywork designed by none other than Zagato, the history-steeped design house from Milan. In light of the Delta’s extraordinary success on the world rallying stage, Zagato’s then-designer Marco Pedracini reportedly felt obliged to spice up the hatchback’s styling in a manner more befitting of its sporting prowess. With such a rich heritage, the quintessential Zagato design cues were plentiful. Double-bubble roof, anyone? Is the Hyena’s beauty skin-deep? Absolutely not. Since its inception over 100 years ago, lightness has always been a pillar around which Zagato operates. The Hyena does not stray from the trend. Its sleek, poised and purposeful body is crafted entirely from aluminium. Throw in an interior festooned with carbon-fibre, and you’ve got a dry weight of just 1,150kg – around 200kg lighter than the production Delta HF Integrale Evo 1. Sounds like a recipe for commercial success – was it? Not quite. Zagato suggested to Lancia that 500 Hyenas could be built and sold, but a complicated and expensive build process ultimately put the Fiat Group off and just 24 examples were completed with the assistance of the Dutch Lancia importer Paul Koot. Could you tell us about the early history of this particular Hyena? An English banker after an exciting yet comfortable car in which to travel between his English and Italian residences originally acquired this Hyena, the second of just 24 built. Prior to taking delivery, a number of thoughtful modifications were made to the car with a view to increasing engine power to 300bhp, including installing a gas-flowed cylinder head and a tubular exhaust manifold. “It’s also worth noting that this is the only Lancia Hyena of the 24 produced homologated with the Delta HF Integrale’s original rear seats.” In light of its increased performance and long-distance requirements, cross-drilled brakes were also fitted in addition to a larger 90-litre competition fuel tank (good for a 450-mile range) and an upgraded stereo system. It’s also worth nothing that this is the only Hyena homologated with the Delta’s original rear seats. Number 002 changed hands in October of 2004, the car’s second owner picking up where the first left off and promptly making some changes. Mavcorse Preparazione Sportive in Milan was entrusted with carrying out the work, which included refinishing the Zagato coachwork in the stunning dual-layer shade of black (the original shade of the Delta donor car) and adding a layer of noise-reducing Teknofibra insulation beneath the interior. A French collector acquired this Hyena in 2012, further enhancing the car’s already impressive performance with a Garrett GT28 turbocharger, Koni Yellow sports dampers, real-time engine mapping and an adjustable twin-piston pop-off valve, among others. He retained the car until 2018, which is when we had the privilege of selling it to its current owner United Kingdom-based owner. During his four-year tenure as 002’s owner, he has re-registered the car in the UK and enjoyed using it in the manner in which its former owners clearly intended. The odometer currently reads 26,200km. So, with all these modifications, what’s this Lancia Hyena like to drive? The Hyena has one of those Jekyll-and-Hyde characters – civilised and comfortable, but with the palpable underlying sense that there’s potent performance waiting to be deployed. If the bespoke OMP Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel and swathe of glossy carbon-fibre which surrounds the cosy yet surprisingly airy cabin doesn’t signal the car’s sporting intentions, then a sustained shove on the throttle pedal most definitely will. The turbo boost is urgent and catapults the car forward with astonishing gusto. The Hyena’s crash Zagato diet combined with this example’s increased power output means the power-to-weight ratio is comparable to a 991-generation Porsche 911 Carrera S. It’s no slouch when the going gets twisty, either – the short wheelbase and incredibly direct steering as a result of the sportier Koni dampers make this car a joy to thread through corners, especially medium-speed sweepers. All the while there is nothing to suggest that this wouldn’t make for a perfectly happy long-distance loper – visibility is great, the seats are supple and comfortable, the stereo works a treat and the air-conditioning is not as asthmatic as you’d expect of an Italian sports car of this era. What is there in the way of documentation? A fantastic history file accompanies this Hyena, comprising everything from the car’s factory Certificate of Origin, spare key and original Lancia user manuals to period photos of the car when it was displayed at Zagato’s Milan headquarters and copies of the model’s press correspondence. There is also a wealth of invoices documenting the extensive modifications made to the car and the fastidious maintenance bestowed upon it over the years, right up to the present day. Sell it me in a sentence… The idiosyncratic and ultra-rare Hyena embodies the very best of two Italian automotive history’s greatest names, Lancia and Zagato, and this thoughtfully enhanced example is arguably among the ultimate Delta HF Integrales from a performance driving perspective – a glorious 1990s what-might-have-been. 1991 Lancia Hyena Zagato Girardo & Co. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright What is it? - 1974 Ford Escort 'AVO' MK1 RS 2000
With their Escort doing so well in the world of rallying, it made sense that Ford would try and sell developed versions beyond the usual homologation specials. The job of creating more widely-produced, fast Escorts was left to Ford's new Advanced Vehicle Operations, based in Essex. Following up on the rather complex RS1600 of 1970 came the Mexico and RS2000 which were far more suited to the man in the street. In June 1973, the Mexico was supplanted by the RS2000 and the model fitted nicely into the AVO line up with its performance almost comparable to the RS1600, but with the same reliability and ease of maintenance as the Mexico. Importantly, the RS2000 utilised the same Type-49-body shell as the Mexico and RS1600. The RS2000 was the first Escort to be powered by the overhead cam four-pot, as Ford decided that their 1993cc "Pinto" engine was to be used in the new model. However, Ford faced the problem of persuading the bulky Pinto engine to fit into the engine bay and, the only way of achieving this was to discard the engine-driven cooling fan and replace it with a thermostatically controlled Kenlowe unit. When finally nestled in place, the Pinto engine produced 100bhp and the RS2000 once again proved to be a quick and delightful car to drive, whilst being more accessible to buy and still offering customers a great choice in terms of colours and options. Finished in its original factory hue of Olympic Blue with a grey cloth interior, this fabulous RS2000 is offered fresh from an exacting professional restoration and, with work just completed, it’s clear to see the lengths that have been taken to preserve the original detail with the standard of workmanship being exemplary. No stone has been left unturned with every nut, bolt washer and screw having received attention. The matching-numbers engine and gearbox have been rebuilt by Ridgeway Racing Engines with particular attention to detail as Paul Broadway, the founder of Ridgeway Racing Engines, was the previous custodian having had the Escort in his care for some 27 years. The original Twin 40 DHLA Dell’Orto carbs have been replaced by a pair of 45DCOE Webers on a Simpson stainless-steel manifold with burnt gases exited through a stainless-steel 2.5’’ sports exhaust system. Delve a little deeper and you see the original etched glass still in place, even the original radiator has been retained rather than replaced simply requiring a new core. Similarly, the suspension and braking system have been fully overhauled as required and the car now sits on the correct RS-Ronal 7.5’’x13’’ four-spoke alloys wearing fresh Nankang rubber. The interior has also received the same level of attention with a retrim by Aldridge Trimming and the delicate dashboard veneers carefully refinished. So fresh, in fact, is the build that a period of running-in is strongly recommended to obtain the very best from this spectacular Ford. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the detail of this RS2000 which is as clean on the underside as it is on top. To find a genuine AVO-built RS2000 is a rare thing, particularly when factory-fitted with the Custom Pack, but to find one in this condition is extraordinary 1974 Ford Escort 'AVO' MK1 RS 2000 Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The 2000 GTV was the final incarnation of the original design and benefited from Alfa Romeo’s larger 1932cc twin cam, all-aluminium, four-cylinder 1932cc engine. It produced an impressive 132 bhp along with a good level of useable torque which ensured the cars performance was better than many sports cars of the era. Our example is in its original and attractive colour combination of Amaranto with ‘natural’ interior and was first delivered in May 1972 to London, as confirmed by the Certificate of Origin which accompanies the car. The certificate also confirms the original engine is still with the car. It has spent much of its life in Australia, and we believe it first arrived in Perth before moving to Brisbane in the early 2000’s. From there is has been in the ownership of a number of known ‘Alfisti’ who have kept it in wonderful order. The current owner acquired the car in 2013 and due to the need to thin down his collection he has made the decision to sell one of his Alfa Romeo’s. The car has clearly seen the benefit of much work and expenditure in the past including new paint and mechanical work and still presents extremely well to this day. The body is in excellent all-round condition and the panel gaps are spot on. There are no signs of corrosion in the car and even underneath shows no signs of any previous repairs. It is the best we have seen. All the stainless steel brightwork is in wonderful order and sets the car off beautifully. The period correct Campagnolo alloy wheels are unmarked and are an attractive addition to the car. The interior is just lovely with everything as it should be. An unmarked steering wheel greets you and the dash and dials are something that just looks perfect to the eye. Whilst the seats appear original, they are unmarked and in quite remarkable order as is all the timber veneer, doors handles, winders, carpets and switches. The odometer reads 82,664 miles, and whilst it is difficult to confirm as original, the condition of the interior and engine bay certainly suggests this. The dashboard is perfect with no cracks and the instrument binnacle look spot on with only a little frosting to the rev counter cover, but this is being picky. The headlining is in excellent order with no rips or discolouration. Turn the key and the engine fires up to a familiar Alfa growl. Out on the open road this car is just superb. The gearbox is excellent with no issues with the synchro’s. It is accurate, smooth, and quick to work through the gears and using it is quite addictive. The engine is responsive and pulls extremely well with the 2-litre engine delivering a more spirited drive. Having spoken with 3 of its previous owners they all commented how well this car always performed. This is one well sorted car and a driver’s delight. It begs to be taken out in the hills for a good blast. The engine bay is clean and appealing to the eye. The boot is currently fitted with carpet but a correct rubber replacement can easily be sourced should the next owner wish to bring it back to its original state. The car has just been serviced by an Alfa Romeo specialist who commented how good the car was. These 105’s are great driver’s cars, and we can see why they are so sought after. Freshly restored cars are still fetching well north of $100,000 and this car represents good buying. This exceptional 2000 GTV is serviced, on the button and ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. 1972 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV Сlassic Сar Market If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
