According to the current owner (and later confirmed by the son of the original owner who saw the car after the restoration was completed), this factory left hand drive Alfa Romeo was delivered to the first owner, a resident of France. After spending time in France, the original owner moved with the car to Montreal, Canada, and subsequently imported it to North America where the original owner continued to use it until it was no longer drivable in 1985. Considering the costs to repair the car, the original owner decided to move on and sold it to San Carlos Auto Wreckers for $50.00. Fortuitously, a week later in March, the current and 2nd owner, an Alfa Romeo enthusiast, discovered the car while looking for spare parts for other Alfa Romeo project cars he was restoring. Though it had been assigned a salvage title, the current owner purchased it directly from San Carlos Auto Wreckers (copy of purchase receipt included with the records). Complete and non-running, the owner purchased it as a parts car, considering it initially as a donor car for some of his other projects. After reviewing the condition and considering the rarity, the owner began working on it, was able to get it running and decided it was worthy of restoration. The owner gathered parts, researched the unique convertible features, and decided to commit to a comprehensive restoration. In 2000, the current owner engaged marque experts at Epifani Restorations, Berkeley, CA to manage the entire restoration project. During the restoration the car was completely disassembled down to the shell while all brakes, pedal assembly, steering, suspension, engine, and transmission were disassembled at Epifani and each of the component parts were fully stripped, glass bead blasted and refinished using correct finishes as part of the mechanical rebuild. The body was sent separately to a professional body shop where it was inspected and reviewed by the Epifani team as the restoration progressed. For the engine, the cylinder head was dismantled, pressure tested, valve seats cut and radiused, new pistons and a piston liner set (1750) installed, and mag rods fitted. The crank was also machined and new cams installed. A new bell housing was fitted with new clutch and flywheel, differential rebuilt, all brake lines installed new, new brake booster and master cylinder, new hoses and lines, new fuel lines and refinished fuel tank, a good used wiring harness sourced and inspected for any new wiring needs, and all electrical, lighting, gauges, and switches tested and installed. At the body shop, all body work was fully addressed including bare metal work performed on the floor and lower doors and rear panels as well as corrective welded in areas, new metal for the pedal box, and other areas as needed. The interior was subbed out to a professional upholstery shop which covered the dash in black (correct for the GTC), correct seat foam used to rebuild the front and rear (unique to the convertible) seat, a complete set of rubber floor mats were sourced from Italy, and the seats and door panels finished in a beautiful shade of red. A new windshield was installed along with new gaskets for all glass, new window channels, restoration and polish for all aluminum trim, gaskets for all lighting and body accessories, new chrome for the front and rear bumpers, and a set of rare correct Carello headlight trim rings fitted to the headlights. As a handsome finishing touch, the owner selected a set of factory original GTA wheels from his personal collection and installed them on the car. After final assembly, in late 2002, the car was road tested and driven for the engine break in period, and all bolts torqued to specification, and fluids changed as needed. The current owner enjoyed occasional use of the car for various local shows and family outings. In 2008, the radiator was cleaned and rodded, in 2009 new ignition Bosch plex were installed with new spark plugs, and in 2010 the car returned to Epifani for brake work including a new master cylinder, and a brake fluid flush, returning again to Epifani in 2011 for front and rear suspension work including two new Koni shocks. In preparation for consignment the water pump and lower radiator hose were replaced at Italian Performance, San Carlos, CA, and a compression test was performed returning the following numbers reading front to back 1 – 220, 2 – 205, 3 – 215, 4 - 225. Cosmetic Overview Today this two-owner, long-term California owned Alfa Romeo GTC is presented with beautiful finishes throughout including smooth and glossy paint that has been very well maintained since the restoration was completed some years ago. The various trim and exterior features are in excellent condition including the grille, which is properly fit to the opening along with single series headlights and the distinctive “step nose” hood design. The lenses, lighting, bumpers, and Alfa Romeo script are also in excellent condition, including the trunk lid “Giulia GTC” script lettering unique to the convertible design. The body panel gaps are consistent with excellent closures and tight fit for both doors which open and shut smoothly, along with excellent fit particularly along the rear edge of the trunk lid. The floating hood, often lacking proper fit, sits flush and latches correctly. The door and rear quarter glass panels are in excellent condition with Securit brand etching consistent with original factory installation, which is rare to find particularly for the convertible body style. A replacement PGI laminated windshield is fitted and the nicely finished black canvas convertible top fits properly to the windshield header with excellent headliner, matching black perimeter beading, and a clear rear plastic window. The top folds down smoothly and nests behind the rear seats with a matching black canvas top boot with perimeter snap fasteners. Outfitted with a set of authentic ventilated GTA wheelsand a set of Michelin MXV4 195/70R14 tires, the stance is sporty and elegant even with the top up. The interior features beautifully finished seats, carpet, dash, and trim, all performed with high-quality materials using accurate perimeter piping, taut fit over proper foam padding, correct materials and fittings, and matching rear seating, specially contoured for the convertible design. The overall interior presents very well reflecting a high-quality restoration performed by knowledgeable Alfa Romeo experts. The door panels, various chrome trim, and side panels have a very high-quality feel to the finishes, the carpeting is in excellent condition, and the shifter boot, rubber floor mats, and ashtray are also in excellent condition. The dashboard is exceptionally nice, featuring clean and highly detailed instruments with excellent color, striking contrast and clear numeric indication, a correct AM/FM Blaupunkt radio, and black dash padding which is in excellent condition. A sporty black rim Alfa Romeo branded steering wheel finishes off the correctly restored interior to a very high level. The trunk is clean and well-maintained, finished with a newer trunk mat. Under the trunk matting, a full-sized GTA style wheel is in place wearing a matching Michelin tire. Under the hood, the engine bay delivers a correct presentation reflective of original specifications and finishes that have modestly mellowed under careful use since the restoration was completed. The engine and engine compartment appear correct in componentry and detail with a properly finished 1750 specification engine now installed. The engine is finished with a satin black twin-cam cover, a cast alloy twin-carburetor intake chamber, and a pair of dual throat side draft Weber carburetors. Other correct features include a correct brake booster system, factory hardware, and Alfa Romeo body stamping and manufacturers plates. The undercarriage also exhibits signs of comprehensive restoration which has mellowed over time but still reflects historically correct attention to detail. Various painted metal suspension components are in excellent condition, as are the brakes, exhaust, and sound chassis floor pans. Correct aluminum casting engine pans, transmission casings, and other components for this series car finish off the chassis to a very high level. The car starts, stops, runs, and drives very capably as evidenced in the driving video accompanying the photos in the gallery. The gearbox operates properly, the clutch takes up nicely, and the brakes bring the car down smoothly and evenly on a firm pedal. Acceleration is progressive from the 1750 engine offering a balanced feel especially notable in open configuration when driving in a more spirited manner. 1966 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTC Fantasy Junction If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Sports Saloon
Aston Martin's post-war evolution took a major step forward with the launch of the DB4 in 1958. Classically proportioned, the beautiful, Touring-designed, body established an instantly recognisable look that would stand the marque in good stead until 1970. The engine was still an all-alloy, twin overhead-camshaft six but the old W.O. Bentley-supervised 3-litre unit had been superseded by a new design from the pen of Tadek Marek. The new 3,670cc straight-six developed 240bhp at 5,500rpm and the David Brown gearbox was an all-new, 4-speed all-synchromesh design. Five distinct Series were built as the DB4 gradually metamorphosed into the DB5 which was introduced in July 1963. The new '5' boasted an enlarged 4-litre engine which had seen service initially powering the four-door Lagonda Rapide of 1961 and, having proven itself reliable, was subtly modified to suit the sporting aspirations of Aston's new flagship. Equipped with three SU carburettors, the 4,000cc engine produced 282bhp at 5,500rpm and was mated to a 4-speed/overdrive gearbox, a proper ZF 5-speed unit becoming standard later. The DB5's distinctive cowled headlamps had first appeared on the DB4GT and the newcomer was the same size as the lengthened Series V DB4. Outwardly there was little to distinguish the DB5 from the last of the DB4s apart from twin fuel filler caps, although these had already appeared on some of the earlier cars. Beneath the skin however, there were numerous improvements including alternator electrics, Girling disc brakes instead of Dunlops, Sundym glass, electric windows and an oil pressure gauge as standard equipment. This delightful DB5 left the Newport Pagnell factory in September 1964, originally finished in Sierra Blue with a Fawn interior and, according to a copy of the original guarantee, was sold by Aston Martin dealers, Brooklands, to Woodward (Hampstead) Ltd., a firm of furniture manufacturers, presumably for the use of their Chairman. DVLA historical records show that #DB5169R belonged to a Mr George Martin White from Kensington in 1968 and was under the same ownership in Gerrards Cross in 1970. It was subsequently returned to the factory in 1971 for a service at 57,000 miles before becoming the property of Leigh Road Garage in Chumleigh in 1975, who sold it a couple of years later to Cheltenham-based Anthony Finney in 1977. No further ownership change is recorded until the DB5 came into the possession of Antea Cars of Wandsworth, who in turn exported it to a Japanese buyer some time later. DB5 5169R remained in Japan until it was discovered by respected marque specialist, Desmond J Smail, in original condition and still dressed in its original factory paint and trim combination. Several months later, the car was repatriated to the UK and sold to its previous owner with a view to a full 'ground-up' restoration. Desmond Smail completed the work in 2014, with the costs totalling some £200,000. The process was incredibly thorough with 'no stone left unturned', including industry-leading body and chassis fabrication by Bodylines of Olney and the repaint superbly finished in gleaming Rothesay Red by fellow Olney specialists, the Lone Pine Garage. Additional works included a full engine rebuild to 4.2-litre specification with Cosworth pistons, gearbox and axle rebuilds and a full retrim in Connolly hides and Wilton carpeting by Desmond’s ex-factory trimmer, Joe Dorrill. The Aston is as good as – or, to be accurate, probably slightly better than - the day it left the factory and now incorporates a few discreet modern upgrades including air-conditioning, a music system with iPod connectivity, electric cooling fans and further sound and heat proofing. The result is a sublime looking and driving DB5, perfect for long distance grand tours and for displaying on the global concours circuit. Having covered just 3,400 miles since the restoration was completed ten years ago, it was purchased by our vendor in April 2019. The DB5 has formed part of his private Collection, where it has continued to be lovingly maintained, serviced and MOT’d annually by Desmond J Smail and used only on high days and holidays. #DB5169R is a matching numbers car with its original engine and gearbox and presents superbly in the seldom seen hue of Rothesay Red. It’s accompanied by its original build sheets, the Heritage Certificate and the fully documented restoration history. We invite and encourage your viewing of this fabulous DB5 to fully appreciate its quality. It is one of the very few and very best DB5s you will ever find. 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Sports Saloon Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1967-lamborghini-400-gt-22
Elegant, practical and lauded at the time as one of the World's best grand tourers, the 400GT 2+2 was the perfect expression of Ferruccio Lamborghini's original concept of creating the fastest, most comfortable and beautiful GT ever. With verifiable provenance, very low mileage and documented ownership, all of whom seemed determined to protect its DNA, #01225 is an important car in the history of an important marque. In effect, a refined and more luxurious version of the Giotto Bizzarrini-engineered 350 GTV prototype of 1963, the development of Lamborghini’s new for 1964 350 GT and its transition to production, was overseen by brilliant former Ferrari designer, Gian Paolo Dallara, then aged just 26. Ably assisted by Paolo Stanzi and highly-rated test driver Bob Wallace, Dallara retained Bizzarrini’s fundamental design, albeit with a suitably strengthened chassis and a de-tuned, wet-sump version of the 350 GTV’s glorious 3.5-litre quad-cam V12 engine. The styling of the 350 GTV had originally been attributed to Franco Scaglione, whose iconic 'BAT' series Alfa Romeos had evidently influenced the former’s rakish lines to a significant degree. A broadly similar appearance was retained for the Touring-bodied 350 GT, albeit featuring a noticeably lower bonnet line due to side-draught Weber carburettors being employed in place of the down-draught items used on the prototype. Drawing praise for the smoothness of its engine, ride quality, and for its superior level of finish, the 350 GT represented a hugely positive first foray into car production for Lamborghini, with some 120 examples produced over the following two years. In 1966, the updated 400 GT was introduced, which retained the same wheelbase as the earlier car but featured an enlarged 3.9-litre version of the V12 engine, thereby increasing power from 270 to 320bhp. Although a handful of early 350 GTs had featured a novel '2+1' seating pattern, the majority were configured in regular two-seater form. However, ever mindful of the benefits of broadening the appeal of its cars, Lamborghini, after producing just 24 examples of the two-seat 400 GT, opted to further modify its derivative into the 400 GT 2+2, the latter being publicly unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 1966. In direct contrast to certain manufacturers, many of whom merely raised or extended the roof lines of existing two-seat designs to hastily fashion 2+2 versions of the same car, Lamborghini opted to both effect this modification and lower the 400 GT’s floorplan simultaneously. Ingeniously, this afforded much greater cabin accommodation at a far lower aesthetic cost than would otherwise have been the case. Furthermore, the 400 GT 2+2 benefited from other cosmetic and ergonomic changes; a larger rear luggage compartment, increased fuel capacity, quadruple headlamps and revised lower front valance being notable examples. However, it was arguably in its transmission that the greatest technical improvement was made, the somewhat recalcitrant ZF gearbox of the 350 and 400 GTs being replaced in the 2+2 by a much smoother and quieter, 5-speed, all-synchromesh unit of Lamborghini’s own manufacture. Critically, as well as offering enhanced practicality, the 400 GT 2+2 retained the impressive performance of its antecedents, with 60mph being achieved in 6.8 seconds, en-route to a maximum top speed of some 168mph. Indeed, so impressed were Autocar journalists that they were moved to laud it as 'better than all the equivalent exotic and home-bred machinery in this glamorous corner of the fast-car market'. Extremely close to the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 in terms of price terms (£6,444 vs £6,516), the 400 GT 2+2 remained in production until 1968, by which time some 224 are thought to have been made. However, just 14 of these were reputedly to right-hand drive specification. The car presented here is a 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 and intriguingly, pre-dates the first factory-built, right-hand drive Lamborghini (which was also a 400GT 2+2), it being chassis #01225 and is one of four examples that the marque's UK concessionaire, Mitchell & Britten, entrusted to Hooper & Co. for conversion from left to right-hand drive configuration. Indeed, some cite Hooper’s success as an important factor in Lamborghini deciding to follow suit. #01225 was originally registered as SUC 683F and was reputedly supplied new to the renowned engineer, Brian Morgan, the Grandson of the man responsible for constructing the Blackpool Tower and father of F1 and IndyCar powertrain supplier, Paul Morgan (the ‘Mor’ of Ilmor Engineering). Brian was serving as the Managing Director of Benton & Stone at the time. Interestingly, Brian was interviewed by Motor Sport magazine, alongside Earl Howe and Peter Hampton, regarding the pros and cons of owning an Italian thoroughbred for their March 1968 issue, with the publication stating: 'He had been drawn to the Lamborghini because of its sophisticated four-cam V12 engine, which appealed to him as an engineer. He had also heard that Sig. Lamborghini was personally interested in the car manufacturing project and he knew from experience that in such cases a better product was likely. He has not regretted the choice: the car is used every day for commuting to work in Birmingham and has given no trouble at all. 'Brian Morgan never keeps a car more than three years, a maxim that was difficult to stick to when it came to selling his Bentley Continental R-type. He had never owned a proper GT car and the choice of a Lamborghini was made after consulting enthusiasts like Peter Hampton, Denis Jenkinson and 'Steady' Barker. What he likes about the car it is absolute lack of fussiness; there are no signs that it ever runs rich, even in the worst traffic jams. This was perhaps what surprised Mr Morgan so much, for he had fully anticipated the exhilarating performance.' Brian Morgan is understood to have sold the 400GT 2+2 to Derbyshire-based construction magnate Ivan Davis Esq. during 1971. Re-registered as DFG 9 and taken off the road some 11 years later, the Lamborghini shared its lodgings with a Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 plus a variety of Rolls-Royces and Bentleys. Having been purchased by our vendor from the Davis family via a 1998 auction, the 400 GT 2+2 was found to be in exceptionally original condition. Although the earliest service record on file dates from September 1971 at 6,920 miles, our vendor is extremely confident that the current odometer reading of 28,710 miles (at the time of cataloguing) represents the total covered from new. As well as the exceptionally well preserved interior, the Lamborghini pleasingly retains such fragile details as the original FIAMM stickers on its air cleaners. Examination of the transmission tunnel reveals evidence of where the factory had previously located the handbrake lever (Hooper fabricating a neat cover). Conscious that DFG 9 was original even down to its windscreen glass, the present owner has enjoyed having it on (essentially) static display as part of his impressive collection for the past 26 years. Aside from refreshing the tired paintwork via a bare metal respray (some 30 years ago, which was 'done once and done properly') which revealed no trace of major corrosion or accident damage, he has had the Borrani wire wheels refurbished and some minor brightwork improved. As a highly accomplished engineer, including time served at NASA, our vendor has got the fabulous – and original - 'quad cam' V12 running to his satisfaction in addition to renewing the clutch and master cylinder. Much of the rest of chassis #01225 would be familiar to anyone who helped assemble it at the Sant Agata factory, including its original marque-adorned carpets. A simply superb 1960s GT car, with an enviable history and ownership, this 400 GT represents V12 Italian continent-hopping fast motoring at its finest. Offered at a sensible guide price, it would undoubtedly be welcome at any high profile car event anywhere. 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1981-alfa-romeo-spider-2000-veloce-1
The Alfa Romeo Spider is a convertible manufactured by Italian carmaker Alfa Romeo. The first four generations, known as the 105 and 115 series, were produced from spring 1966 to the end of 1993. This makes the Alfa Romeo Spider 105 and 115 series one of the longest-running convertible models to remain largely unchanged. This Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 Veloce from the second series, known as Coda Tronca, was delivered in Switzerland and was first registered on 30 July 1981. The sporty convertible spent the period up to 2021 with two owners in sunny Ticino before being taken over by the consignor in 2023 after a brief stopover in the canton of Geneva. As the available invoices show, the body was repainted in its original colour and the seats were reupholstered in 2017/2018. In 2019, at 92’233 km, the alternator was replaced and in 2020, at 95’145 km, the Alfa got a new clutch. In 2024, around 1’700 km ago, a service was carried out and the front brake discs and pads were replaced. Now with 109’700 km on the clock, this attractive Spider is in very good condition and has been well maintained. It will be handed over to a new owner with its latest veteran MOT completed in April 2021. 1981 Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 Veloce Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1987 Porsche 959
Porsche’s first supercar Extremely well-preserved Completely mechanically refurbished by Canepa 2.85L Flat 6-Cylinder \ 450 H.P. 6-Speed Manual Transmission Twin KKK Turbochargers and Intercoolers This 1987 Porsche 959 “Komfort” emerges not just as a car, but as a thundering statement of power, speed, and technological wizardry. Equipped with twin-turbos this all-wheel-drive marvel was Porsche's answer to the call for the fastest street-legal production car. With its aerodynamically sculpted body and a heart that beats with a twin-turbo flat-six engine, this 959 was the envy of every car on the road. This was Porsche flexing its muscles, showing off what it could do when it threw all rules out the window. Developed initially as a four-wheel-drive Group B contender, the 959 was the first to bring space-age complexity to the racetrack. Its body showcases an incredible synergy of aluminum and Aramid (Kevlar), lighter than a whisper but tough as nails. It's like Porsche took a page out of Formula One's book, then wrote a whole new chapter with it. Underneath that sleek exterior roars a 2.85L powerhouse. This six-cylinder 'boxer' engine, decked out with air cooled cylinders and water-cooled double-overhead-camshaft four-valve cylinder heads, was a marvel. Boasting 450bhp, this titan can blast past 195mph without breaking a sweat. But the 959 wasn’t just about speed. It was a symphony of sophisticated technology and luxury. With a four-wheel-drive and six-speed transmission that could adapt to any condition and double wishbone suspension for a ride as smooth as silk, this car was a dream to handle. And let's not forget the comforts – electric windows and mirrors, climate control, and seats that adjust just the way you like. The Porsche 959 is a highly sought-after and rare sports car that was difficult to acquire due to its limited production and high demand. The model was nicknamed "Porsche's gift to its favorite customers." The desirability of the Porsche 959 was so strong that even collectors in the United States, where the cars could not be legally imported, sought ways to obtain them through a "grey market." However, the Show and Display Law 1998, supported by Porsche legend Bruce Canepa, eventually allowed for the legal importation of the 959. The 1987 Porsche 959 “Komfort” isn’t just a collector’s dream; it's a beacon of automotive excellence. It stands as a testament to the era when Porsche dared to redefine what a supercar could be. And with only 292 of the 959 ever to be created it’s one of Porsches rarest. The previous owner had a substantial car collection and put in over $200k on the refurbishment of this car, which Canepa was honored to complete given our history and passion for excellence in this type of project specifically. He wanted this 959 to be in completely original and pristine, unrestored condition. In addition, he wanted to make sure it was mechanically and cosmetically like new, front to back. Every mechanical component was fully tested with the goal of having the car ready to enjoy for another 20+ years. Upon arrival at Canepa, every collector car for sale is put through an extensive and diligent process called the “Canepa Difference.” This includes a major and comprehensive mechanical inspection where all systems are checked, serviced, and restored as needed. They also receive award-winning concours-level detailing, including a thorough cleaning of each and every surface. 1987 Porsche 959 Canepa If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1968-lancia-fulvia-sport-1300-competizione-by-zagato
Penned by Ercole Spada at Zagato, Lancia’s Fulvia Sport was born with competition in mind, with Zagato’s peculiar bodywork designed specifically to provide better aerodynamics and reduce weight over the Fulvia Coupe upon which it is based. Built across two distinct series undoubtedly the rarest and most desirable variant is the Fulvia Sport 1300 Competizione. The Fulvia Sport 1300 Competizione proved hugely successful in period, especially in Lancia’s native Italy where the model secured class victories in the Targa Florio in 1968, 1969, and 1971. Modifications included lightened aluminum bodywork, Plexiglas windows, and wheel arches widened to house Campagnolo 6J13 wheels. Output remained unchanged from the Sport 1300 but Zagato’s fanatical attention to detail in shedding every possible ounce resulted in a much more competitive car. Only twenty-seven were built with the majority campaigned by well-known Italian teams, such as Jolly Club and Squadra Corse HF, as well as well-heeled privateers like the example offered here. Chassis number 001909 was originally finished in the distinctive shade of Rosso San Siro and delivered to its first owner, Claudio Cadlolo in the spring of 1968. Cadlolo was no stranger to Lancia in motorsport, with previous entries from him seen as early as 1962, racing a Lancia Appia. Registered in Rome as ROMA B62915, Cadlolo immediately took to campaigning his new Fulvia in hill climbs and events across Italy, with his car entered by “Cantera” across at least eight events during the 1968 season, with Cantera’s best result being a 2nd place finish at the Svolte di Popoli in August of that year. After the 1968 season, the Fulvia was sold to Leopoldo di Lucia. Retaining the same Roma registration and colour scheme, the car is easily identifiable in period photos throughout further events in 1969. Like Cadlolo, di Lucia was no stranger to racing Lancias and with his Fulvia he competed in at least seven events across 1969, including securing victories at Coppa Primavera and Sarnano – Sassotetto in April and July 1969 respectively. Following its retirement from racing in the summer of 1969, di Lucia would continue to race in other cars (namely a Stratos) but despite this, the Fulvia remained in di Lucia’s ownership until 2008, when it was purchased by Neale Shepherd in the UK. It remained with him until the car was acquired by the current owner approximately a decade ago, sourced via Vere Lancia, a very well-regarded Lancia specialist in the Netherlands. Vere Lancia were tasked with finding an exceptional Fulvia Sport 1300 Competizione for the current owner to use and enjoy in events and according to the consignor, chassis number 001909 fit the bill perfectly. It was found to be very well preserved in di Lucia’s ownership, still highly original and in good running condition when purchased, even still fitted with an original enamel team badge fitted in period that remains fitted to this car today. Upon purchase, Vere Lancia was tasked by the consignor with undertaking a complete restoration to ensure the car was once again ready for competitive use. The car was stripped back to bare metal and was refinished in its as-raced ‘Macciocca’ livery. Upon completion of the restoration, the car campaigned on the Gran Premio Nuvolari in September 2016 and Targa Florio Classica in 2017. Afterwards, the car was shipped to the owner’s home in Southern California, where it has remained ever since. Adding to the car’s provenance, the car’s history file is extraordinary, including many period documents and photographs, as well as a letter from di Lucia to the current owner. Finally, di Lucia’s winner’s trophy from the Sarnano – Sassotetto in July 1969 accompanies the car. With only twenty-seven Fulvia Sport 1300s built by Zagato to Competizione specifications, it is said that there are fewer than 10 examples remaining today. This example’s provenance is fascinating, having been raced only in 1968 and 1969 and then being preserved by the second owner who raced the car in 1969 for nearly forty years. Highly eligible for historic racing events both in the US and in Europe, this would be a fabulous addition to any collection of competition cars for the enthusiast looking to stand out from the crowd. 1968 Lancia Fulvia Sport 1300 Competizione by Zagato RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera
When the Porsche 996 was introduced in 1997, it was a major departure from the German marque’s classic formula. Gone was their staple air-cooled engine, now replaced by a water-cooled one instead. The platform was also completely redesigned and provided a fresh start to the iconic 911 as it entered a new era. The 996 shared development with the first-generation Boxster, a move that resulted in a few interchangeable parts between the two and, thus, lower production and maintenance costs. It was initially available only as an RWD coupé or convertible, with a four-wheel drive model arriving later. Power was derived from a 3.4 L flat-6 engine mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic transmission and putting out 296 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 62 mph could be achieved in 5.2 seconds, and a top speed of 170 mph. Between 1997 and 2004, Porsche produced 171,250 examples of the naturally aspirated Carrera, with 28,040 produced in 1999. Throughout the years, the 996 generation of the 911 platform has been largely overlooked by collectors and Porschephiles. Many people lambasted them for both their break from the traditional air-cooled design as well as some of their questionable styling cues. As of recently, though, there has been a surge in desirability for these once unloved examples. This has been driven by two significant factors: the surging price of 911 examples across the board and people looking for cheap entry points into the Porsche community, but also the rediscovery of how fantastic this platform is actually to drive. These 996-generation cars still retain much of the raw and natural feeling of earlier 911s and are also from a time before size bloat and excessive electronics crept into the 911 lineup. While prices have steadily crept up on 996s, with limited production run and well spec’d examples bringing very strong money, they remain a very economical and practical choice for entry in 911 ownership. Purchasing a well-cared-for and properly serviced example with exciting colors or options remains paramount in preserving future gains in value. We see these as an excellent purchase for someone looking for a fun, reliable, and immensely useable sports car with potential growth in both value and collectability. This particular example, Chassis # WP0AA2998XS623394, is a 1999 model finished in Artic Silver Metallic (X1) over the Boxster Red Special Leather interior package (MA). This 996 was heavily optioned from the factory with the Aerokit Package (XAA), Full Carbon Package, Leather Sport Seats, Sport Chassis, 18” wheels w/Technology Rims, Hi-Fi Sound Package, Porsche Comms Management system, and Supple Leather all around. Exclusive to the Boxster Red Special Leather were Boxster Red Floor Mats, Aluminum Instrument Dials, and a Carbon/Leather Steering Wheel. With over $31,000 in options, the total MSRP for this 996 came out to $98,243 in 1999. This car was delivered to Porsche Exchange in Highland Park, IL in September of 1998. Its first owner purchased it in November of that year. They would go on to lovingly cherish this 996 over the next 14 years, religiously servicing and maintaining it at certified dealerships. It was offered for sale in November of 2012 with 20,967 miles on the odometer and was purchased by a Michigan resident just a month later. Despite only owning the car for five months, it was serviced three times at Shaheen Chevrolet in Lansing, MI, before being sold in June of 2013 with 23,255 miles. The third owner brought the 996 to Maine, where they continued the previous owners’ tradition of enjoying it and servicing it when needed for three years. In November of 2016, at around 34,000 miles, its fourth owner was reported. Based out of New York, they owned the car for a year during which time they refurbished the wheels, replaced the front hood struts, drive belt, water pump, air/oil separator, and programmed a new key. They also installed an LN Engineering dual-row IMS bearing and a replacement clutch before passing it on to another New York resident in November of 2017. Owner number five was the custodian of this low-mileage beauty until around the end of 2019. Under their ownership, the front bumper cover and side skirts were repainted in April of 2019 at Village Auto Body in Greenlawn, NY, and the timing chain tensioner was replaced in December of 2019 at TKX Performance in Huntington Station, NY. They listed the car for sale on Bring a Trailer in January of 2020 with a little under 40,000 miles on the odometer, where it was subsequently purchased by its sixth and most recent owner and brought home to Iowa. A few significant services carried out by this owner included new engine and transmission mounts in June of 2021 from Pelican Parts in Harbor City, CA, a new coolant expansion tank in August of 2021 from K11 Auto Repair in Omaha, NE, new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires in March of 2022 from Midwest Tire in Omaha, NE, and mufflers in September of 2023 from K11 Auto Repair. When we received this 996, we entrusted Woodlawn Garage in Philadelphia, PA, with giving this beauty the minor servicing it needed to perform at its fullest. They performed a full oil change, replaced the alternator bracket and accessory belt, replaced one of the horns, and did the overall inspection, state inspection, and emissions. For many years, the 996 platform was unjustly looked down upon when compared to other models of its time, but as of recently, it has begun to find its foothold in the collector market. The factory Aero Kit paired with the Boxster Red Special Leather interior and a plethora of options make this one stand out from its brethren. Showing a little over 42,000 miles and always serviced by its owners with an open checkbook, this is surely one of the most extraordinary examples of the 996 platform on the market. Porsches of this generation can frequently be found with more than double or triple the mileage, indicating the kind of reliability one can get with this level of meticulous care and maintenance. Upon purchase, the new owner will receive all of the original owner’s manuals, toolkit, spare wheel, a copy of the window sticker, service records from 2016-2023, a copy of the CARFAX, and the Porsche Production Specifications certificate. EXTERIOR Body And Paint The factory Artic Silver Metallic paint has an excellent and consistent shine, indicative of a car that has been well cared for and kept out of the elements. The paint is believed to be all original, though the front bumper and side skirts have been resprayed. There are no signs of overspray anywhere, all the decals, stickers, and emblems look excellent and untouched. There are some small imperfections in the paint, as one would expect from a 25-year-old car, but the overall condition is impressive. The panel gaps are consistent, and there is nothing to indicate that the body was ever repaired. Glass And Trim All the windows appear clean and scratch-free, with the proper Porsche markings. There is not much trim on the Porsche 996, and what little there is, is straight, secure, and retains the factory black color. The factory gaskets around the doors, windows, lights, and front trunk are all pliable and fully intact. Again, indicative of a well-cared-for and properly stored vehicle. Wheels The optional 18” two-piece sport classic wheels are straight and free of curb damage or scratches. The center caps look good, and the lug bolts are all stainless steel and in excellent condition. Notable Flaws The passenger side lower aero side skirt is not completely flush with the body, as the plastic has probably shrunk a bit over time. The corner of the engine cover has some slight imperfections that one can see on close examination. There are some other very small imperfections around the vehicle, but one has to look very closely. Overall, the car is in impressive condition and looks like a car with far less mileage than indicated on the odometer. INTERIOR Seats And Surfaces The Boxster red interior shows well, and the overall condition exemplifies the car’s pampered life. The interior smells of leather and has obviously always been clean and well cared for. The headliner is fully intact, clean, and tight, and the same can be said for the carpets. The door panels, center console, and kick panels are free of noticeable imperfections. The front and rear seat leather is clean and stain-free. The leather has the feel and smell of a higher-quality grain. The seats show no sign of fatigue, though there is some webbing of the leather and some slight wear on the driver’s seat. Overall, the red interior is attractive and in excellent condition, and like the exterior, it presents like a lower mileage example. Functionality And Accessories All the handles, locks, windows, stalks, lights etc. work properly. The HVAC works in all its setting, and the same is true for the stereo. Notable Flaws ENGINE BAY AND TRUNK Engine Bay The engine bay is original and looks to be unaltered, and well maintained. All the hardware and black plastic is clean and free of imperfections. The decals and stickers under the hood are complete and clear. All the hoses and clamps look correct. Trunk Area The front trunk is clean, and all the carpet pieces are secure and accounted for. The black plastic that covers the battery and cowl are in excellent condition, and there are no missing clips or screws. The original spare tire and tool kit are present and complete. Underside The underside has been dry ice blasted, and everything looks amazing. The suspension pieces and the wheel wells are impressive. Notable Flaws The hardbacks of the sport seats have some minor scuffs, as does some of the black plastic around the driver’s sill. If you look closely at some of the carbon fiber, there are noticeable imperfections. But overall, everything looks, feels, and smells, top-notch. MECHANICALS Engine The motor starts quickly, with the classic Porsche sound, and settles to a steady idle. On the road, it feels and sounds healthy, with plenty of power and a real willingness to rev. There are no odd noises or anything to indicate an issue. Transmission The 6-speed transmission shifts nicely into all the gears, and the clutch grabs properly with a nice and low pedal. Brakes And Suspension The large brakes stop the car quickly and easily, with no pulsating or pulling. The sport suspension is surprisingly compliant but extremely well controlled on windy roads and stable on the highway. There is nothing that feels out of sorts Tires The Michelin Pilot Sports tires have plenty of tread and a 2022 date code. They feel balanced and smooth on the highway. DRIVING EXPERIENCE After spending a few days driving this gem, it is obvious why these cars are gaining such a following. The 996 has enough power to be exciting, but not too much to be ludicrous, plus they are small with excellent visibility. The options on this car make for a more gratifying car behind the wheel, while also improving it visually. The ‘98 and ‘99 996 have a more analog feel than the later cars, and you feel more of the lineage to the 993. The car performed well in traffic, on windy roads, and on the interstate. It was truly a pleasure. 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera LBI Limited If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright When the Porsche 996 was introduced in 1997, it was a major departure from the German marque’s classic formula. Notable Flaws The hardbacks of the sport seats have some minor scuffs, as does some of the black plastic around the driver’s sill.
