  • 1989 Porsche 930 Slant Nose 1

The ‘flachbau’ version of the 930 (known also as the 930S and in English as the ‘Slantnose’) is a true 1980s icon. Incorporating the more aerodynamically efficient smooth front fenders of the Le Mans-winning 935, the Slantnose was a modern and visually stunning take on the traditional 911 package which helped it transition from being a venerable and somewhat old-fashioned sports car to one of the most iconic and sought-after sports cars of the 80s. Like many Porsche design trends, the aesthetics of the Slantnose had a functional basis on the race track. To reduce drag of their 911-based race cars, engineers removed the headlight pods of the 911 and replaced them with a flat front fenders. This purposeful look captured the hearts and minds of enthusiasts, and as early as 1981, factory Slantnose road cars were being quietly built in small numbers for important customers through the Sonderwunsch (‘special wish’) program. During the same period, there was a proliferation of aftermarket Slantnose conversions, which varied in quality and were sometimes even executed in fiberglass. This demonstrated the significant market demand for the Slantnose, and for the 1987 model year, Porsche made it a publically available (and eye-wateringly expensive) option. Designated with code M505, the Slantnose option cost $29,555 in 1989 (above the $85,000 price tag of the 930 Cabriolet) and included revised front fenders with pop up headlights, boxed rocker extensions, and large vents let into the rear fenders, which serve to admit air for the auxiliary oil cooler on the right side. In 1989, the 930’s last model year, the car received the vastly improved G50 transmission (the first time a 5-speed gearbox was offered in the 930), making the 1989 Slantnose among the rarest 911s of the era. Indeed, just 28 1989 M505 930 Cabriolets were built, representing what was, simply put, the most expensive 911 a customer could buy. This particular Slantnose Cabriolet is a two-owner lifelong California car which was sold new 10 May 1989 by Berkey Imported Cars, Inc. in Pleasanton, California. The included Certificate of Authenticity shows that the car was completed 3 March 1989 and is a genuine M505 car fitted with the following options: California Emissions Steering Wheel w/Raised Hub Tonneau Cover Heated Seat – Left Limited Slip Differential Shorter Gear Shift Lever Amplifier System Slant Nose CD-2 CD Player w/Radio Luggage Compartment Black Velour Bridgestone Tires The pre-delivery inspection was performed with 27 miles on the odometer on the 10th of May 1989 and the car was delivered to a resident of Oakland, California. Berkey continued to service the car early in its life, performing additional maintenance in June of 1990 at 2,508 miles and in March of 1991 with 4,336 miles. Service was performed later on by Michael Stead Porsche in Walnut Creek, California in 1997 and 1999 with 16,021 and 24,330 miles. The first owner consigned the car for sale to Prestige Autohaus, Walnut Creek, CA, where the second and current owner purchased the car in March of 2005. At that time, the car had covered 42,482 miles. Subsequent records by the current owner document the modest 3,000 miles covered by the second owner. Services include regular oil and fluid changes, brake servicing at 44,090 miles, smog tests as needed for up to date California registration, and a new battery in 2014. Today, this remarkably original Porsche is in very nice condition with excellent original Guards Red paint applied over exceptionally nice original factory body panels. Showing only minor paint imperfections, light surface scratches, and minor road chips on the hood, the finish is very satisfying particularly considering the originality of the car. The paint meters below 6 mils on all metal panels. The rubber and black trim are excellent throughout the car. The stance is on correct and desirable 7- and 9-inch Fuchs wheels, are color coded and show minor curb rash on the rear wheels. The glass, lenses, and lights are also in excellent condition other than a chip in the windshield, which has been present since before the current owner purchased the car and has not grown during his 13 years of ownership. The power convertible top is in very nice shape with only minor evidence of use. The electric mechanism works properly and the rear window remains supple and clear. The uniquely optioned Cashmere leather interior is very nicely appointed, having been fitted with the beltline leather package, which includes leather lower dash, HVAC control box, door pulls, and door pocket lids. The overall condition of the materials and surfaces is excellent, including the seats, carpets, and dash. The leather seats show minimal use, with only minor driver’s side bolster wear evident in the leather. The rear seating area appears essentially unused and free of damage, with smoothly hinging rear seatbacks, showing excellent finishes both front and back. The original carpets are in very good condition, showing some areas of light use in typical places, in keeping with the low miles indicated. A set of period tan over mats is included with the car. The dashboard, switches, iconic black-dial instruments with orange needles, and analog controls are excellent and correct, once again showing virtually no evidence of excessive use or long-term sun exposure. The original Porsche-branded CD player is still in place. The engine compartment is mercifully unmodified, a welcome treatment for a 930 Turbo given that so many examples have been altered over the years. The original engine and engine compartment are clean and attractive, offering a very nice presentation consistent with an unmodified example that has been driven minimal miles and properly cared for. The trunk is stock in appearance covered with the optional black velour and housing factory correct spare tire, air compressor, and proper materials and finishes indicative of an original factory preserved Porsche of this vintage. Underneath the car, there is only mild evidence of road use and no indication of structural damage or compromise to the floor or other components. The car starts easily either cold or warm, settles into a smooth idle, and pulls authoritatively when on boost. One of the most defining parts of the experience is the G50 gearbox. While 4-speed 930s suffer from the widely space gears and the vague shift action, the G50 transforms the car. Ratios are closer together, and there is a modernity to the shift action and synchromesh that turns one of the weakest dynamic points of the 930 into one of its strengths. As one might expect from a car of this performance lineage, power is there when needed but the car remains still very usable even in generally mild traffic. The chassis, steering, and suspension are tight, while the 917-derived brakes respond very nicely even under higher demand from highway speeds. This Slantnose comes with the original owner’s manual, service records, an original sales brochure, detailed owners notes and mileage records from 2005, service records from 2005 onward, spare keys, tools, tool roll, air compressor and Certificate of Authenticity confirming this is a factory Slantnose cabriolet delivered with all options featured on this exceptionally original car. Included among the books is the original maintenance booklet which supports the early service history as well as the retaining the original options sticker. This is an exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire a very original low-mileage, well-preserved factory Porsche 930 Slantnose Cabriolet, delivered new in the quintessential 1980s color combination. 930s of all types have appreciated markedly, with rare variants becoming especially collectible. One of only 28 5-speed Slantnose Cabriolets built, this 930 is both rare and beautiful, making it a particularly difficult car to find, ensuring its continued desirability as the Porsche market continues to appreciate and enthusiasts seek out the very best examples of these iconic sports cars. 1989 Porsche 930 Slant Nose Fantasy Junction If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The 3.0-liter inline-four features VarioCam variable valve timing and was factory rated at 236 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. The air filter was replaced and an oil change was performed in 2022. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below. • 1976 Porsche 934

As the Porsche 911 Turbo entered production in 1975 under the guise of its aggressively styled and distinctive 930-generation body shape, the 250 km/h coupé not only became the fastest road car available in Germany but also the fastest-ever from the marque at the time. With one eye on the company’s motorsport endeavours, Porsche bosses earmarked the new 911 platform for racing as a replacement for the naturally aspirated Carrera RSR 3.0. The suitability for competition in the Group 4 class was a natural fit for a race-derived interpretation of the 930 Turbo, yet Porsche engineers left no stone unturned as the first 934 was developed for testing. Contemporary Group 4 regulations required a near-standard body configuration and a minimum weight of 1,120 kilograms, resulting in the removal of the stock seats, air conditioning, insulation, and other unnecessary items countered by the installation of a full aluminium roll cage, additional gauges, and racing equipment for application on the track. Features such as the road car’s electric windows were retained in favour of adding ballast, along with the standard rear-deck spoiler. The chassis was reinforced with a stiff cross-brace tied into the front suspension mounts, Bilstein coil-overs were added, as were wider 16-inch centre-lock BBS three-piece alloy wheels with racing tyres that required fibreglass extensions to the wings. Stronger hubs and brakes were borrowed from the 917 while a 120-litre fuel cell and an oil tank filled the trunk area. These changes left the 934 weighing a fraction less than its road-going 930 cousin, while the track-going Porsche was powered by a 3.0-litre, single-turbo engine that drew critics and plaudits in equal measure for its delayed power delivery. Production numbered 31 cars as 30 units of the 934 followed the initial test build. The Porsche 934 offered here, chassis 0172, was delivered new to tyre importer and racing enthusiast Richard Leder of Hamburg, Germany. After a debut race in the 1976 Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (DRM) followed by two other outings, Leder’s first overall win in the Porsche came at Kassel-Calden in May 1976. Unfortunately, the car crashed a few weeks later on the first lap of the Nürburgring 1000 km. Then, in June, Leder tragically died in a road accident and the car passed to Volker Merl, who campaigned the car in the German National Championship, along with a number of smaller national races. Over the end of 1976 and beginning of 1977, Merl upgraded the Porsche to 934/5 specification and won at Avus in May of 1977. Merl eventually sold the 934 to a Swiss Porsche dealer, Peter Zbinden. Often paired with fellow Swiss Edi Kofel, Zbinden entered more than 30 events in 1978, 1979, and 1980, claiming no fewer than 16 class and overall wins to add to Leder’s earlier two victories with the car. Zbinden converted the car to full 935 specification in 1980 before selling it to Pierre Schärer of Bern, who ran the car primarily in Swiss championship races and hill climb events. In 1982, the car was sold to Peter Baumann of Zurich, who used the car in club events in company with then-Porsche Sports Director Max Welti. Baumann subsequently restored the car to its original specification, appearance and livery using the original Group 4 parts previously removed and kept with the car. Chassis 0172 is accompanied by a report following a 2021 inspection by Prill Porsche Classics of Halsted, Essex. On compilation of the report, marque expert Andy Prill comments on the car’s originality, and of its formation within a collection for many years. It is said that older parts were preserved amid the period conversion of Group 4 to Group 5 specification, while Group 4 parts that were original to the 934 were retained for when the car returned to that setting. Prill stated: ‘The car is as good as it gets and virtually totally original. Probably the only surviving example of this quality.’ Presented in its original Group 4 configuration, offered with a spare set of wheels and electric tachometer, and wearing its period-correct livery, chassis 0172 offers the opportunity to acquire a highly significant racing Porsche with enviable competition history. Overall, this 934 boasts an impressive competition pedigree: of 69 races entered, it recorded 18 overall victories or class wins and 29 podiums. Needless to say, the Porsche would be a worthy entrant to the many historic racing events for which it is eligible. 1976 Porsche 934 RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Clean CarFax and AutoCheck Reports When the Porsche 996 was introduced in 1997, it was a major departure from the German marque's classic formula. The platform was completely redesigned and provided a fresh start to the iconic 911 as it entered a new era. Throughout the years, the 996 generation of the 911 platform has been largely overlooked by collectors and Porschephiles. As of recent, there has been a surge in desirability, and the rediscovery of how fantastic this platform is to drive. These 996-generation cars retain much of the raw and natural feeling of earlier 911s and are from a time before size and excessive electronics crept into the 911 lineup. This 996 was heavily optioned from the factory with the Aerokit Package (XAA), Full Carbon Package, Leather Sport Seats, Sport Chassis, 18” wheels w/Technology Rims, Hi-Fi Sound Package, Porsche Comms Management system, and Supple Leather all around. We purchased this Ford Escort some time ago and have been working on a full reconditioning and engine build. All pictures included are of the Escort before we began extensive reconditioning, but as our work on the Escort is close to finished, we wanted to start sharing a little early. This Ford Escort is stored in our Aiken, SC climate controlled showroom and comes with South Carolina title. The inventory shown is 100% owned, maintained, and driven by us here at Car Cave USA. Code-named "Brenda", the second generation Escort was jointly developed between UK Ford and Germany Ford. The MK2 model featured multiple body styles and engine combinations that lasted from 1974 until 1980. This 1977 Ford Escort MK2 RS2000 has approximately 18200 miles, and lives up to the look of the rally inspired build. The Escort was originally delivered to Greece in 1977 as a factory built 2-door saloon. Several upgrades have been made to improve the appearance and performance. The upgraded 2.0L Pinto TL20H Inline-4 engine features a custom twin carb intake manifold with twin Dellorto 44mm Dhla side draft carburetors, aftermarket headers, and stainless exhaust. The factory 4-speed transmission has been replaced with a 5-speed Ford Type 9 pushing power to the rear wheels through a T21 English Type rear end. Suspension has been modified with Koni shocks, larger sway bar, polyurethane bushings, strut tower brace, and rear lowering block. The exterior and engine bay show a nice condition repaint with appearance modifications including Compomotive ML alloy wheels, fender flares, rear spoiler, tinted windows, and an appropriately lowered stance. Inside we find racing seats, SaBelt steering wheel, and a Kenwood KDC-W241 head unit with aftermarket speakers. An assortment of gauges in two locations with the speedometer, tachometer, fuel, and temp found in the instrument cluster. Gauges for temp, oil pressure, and voltage can be found in front of the passenger. The Escort has everything necessary for fun.... the legendary Pinto 205, 3 pedals, and 2 rear wheels. • 1967 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior

Some of the greatest cars were products of their environment, and nowhere is that truer than with Alfa Romeo’s replacement for the outgoing Giulietta Sprint. A punitive tax regime in Italy meant that only those of comfortable means could afford to run larger-capacity cars, opening the door for a number of frugal, fizzing sportscars with smaller engines. Leading the charge was the Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior. The Junior shared its traffic-stopping Giorgetto Giugiaro-penned styling with its more powerful 1.6-litre sibling, but beneath the bonnet lay the latest iteration of the firm’s lauded 1,290-cc twin-cam four-cylinder engine—a tried and tested powerplant that punched well above its weight. Cheaper to tax, the rev-happy sportscar had a character entirely its own, and what it lacked in straight-line speed it more than made up for in handling and driver involvement. The GT Junior would become the most popular version of the 105-Series coupé produced, with more than 90,000 being built between 1965 and 1977. This earlier example was first registered in Napoli, Italy on 20 May 1967. It is finished in green over a two-tone tan interior and features both the highly desirable “Scalino”—or step-nose—bonnet and the more attractive flat-top dashboard. The Alfa Romeo is presented in unrestored condition with an attractive patina and untouched interior and is accompanied by a period document pouch from what is presumed to be the supplying dealer, Commissionar’o Accapi, Napoli, in addition to a user manual, an Alfa Romeo service centre guide, an ACI manual, and a tool roll. Well-preserved and with a lengthy history in the Napoli area, this genuine step-nose 1300 GT Junior would make the ideal classic for cars and coffee events and spirited Sunday drives. 1967 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1980 Aston Martin V8 Volante

Aston Martin’s “V8” line of grand tourers is one of the longest-lasting nameplates in the marque’s repertoire, manufactured in numerous variations from 1969 to 1989. The first iteration existed from 1969 to 1972 as the “DBS V8” to set it apart from the six-cylinder DBS. That engine was dropped starting with the 1972 model year, and the model was consequently simply known as the Aston Martin V8. The Series 4 was introduced in October 1978 with a few cosmetic changes to set it apart from the previous Series 2 and 3. Known as the “Oscar India” specification, or “October Introduction” in the phonetic alphabet, it featured a hood bulge in place of the former scoop, an integrated spoiler, and wood trim throughout the interior for a more luxurious feel. The 5.3 L V8’s power dropped to 245 hp in US-market cars, and larger bumpers were added to meet safety standards. The engine could be paired to either a Chrysler “Torqueflite” three-speed automatic transmission or a ZF 5-speed manual all-synchromesh transmission. The tested 0-60 mph time of around 5.2 seconds made the Series 4 V8 one of the fastest-accelerating cars of its era. The convertible version, known as the “Volante,” was introduced in June of 1978 and overtook the coupé in terms of popularity by 1981. Only 352 “Oscar India” models were built from 1978 through 1985, while only 192 were Volantes. Over the years, the V8 series Aston Martins have enjoyed strong and steady popularity amongst collectors and enthusiasts alike. Their elegant but muscular appearance combined with the glorious sounding V8 engine provides ample thrills for the eyes and ears alike. Many of these V8s fall prey to being “rough around the edges,” with numerous expensive problems lurking beneath the beautiful exterior. Because of this, it is very important to find a properly cared-for or well-restored example. Pricing trends continue to remain strong for later models as well as limited or special production versions such as the Volante, X-Pack cars, and Prince of Wales Editions. This particular 1980 Aston Martin V8 is a US-market Series 4 Volante. While some of the history of this example has been lost to time, the details we do have give this Volante quite the storied background. It was originally sold in Midland, TX, before being purchased by the producer of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom in California sometime later. The current owner purchased it from Park Place LTD in Bellevue, WA, in 2005. It was in original condition at the time of purchase, with around 37,000 miles on the odometer. They have owned it for the past 19 years and frequently maintained it at Treasured Motorcar Services, Ltd. in Reisterstown, MD. It retains its original engine and original color combination as per the original build sheet. The engine and drivetrain were rebuilt starting in December of 2010 and ending around March of 2011 at Treasured Motor Cars. During the process, the car was also modified with Euro throttle linkage, base plate, airbox, and Weber 45mm carburetors. The entire process totaled north of $20,000. In June of 2019, this Volante was sent off to Automobile Tricolor in Italy to perform a bare metal repaint, reupholstering, new convertible top, new mechanical and cosmetic fittings, chrome, as well as a Euro-spec rear valence and bumper. The exterior was finished in its factory-correct Jubilee silver with blue pinstripes and a gray convertible top. During the restoration process, the owner sold the car to the shop before realizing he missed this slice of “La Dolce Vita” and buying back the now-restored Volante from them. As it sits, this freshly restored Aston Martin V8 Volante with just over 61,500 miles on the odometer serves as the chance to own one of the rarer examples in the British marque’s lineup of sports cars. With only 352 examples ever produced, one can rest assured knowing that this car will stand out among its fellow British brethren at any event it attends. The rebuilt engine, its accompanying drivetrain, and freshly reupholstered interior also ensure that the future owner of this automobile is able to experience its power in the same luxurious fashion that Aston intended back in the 1980s. If the V8 under the hood was not enough of a thrill, then surely the open-top driving experience that the Volante is known for will satisfy your desires. Upon purchase, the new owner will receive its original toolkit and jack, additional keys for the car’s various locks, and all of the service records on file. The Details EXTERIOR Body And Paint The exterior of the car is freshly restored and remains in excellent and well-kept condition. The Jubilee Silver paint throughout the vehicle is the correct factory finish and remains smooth and consistent throughout the entirety of the car. There is excellent color and finish to the paint and it appears that it was a very high quality job when completed. There is a blue pinstripe on the beltline that remains clean and straight and accentuates the remaining color of the car very nicely. It does appear that the car saw minimal or very careful use since the completion of the restoration, as there really are no blemishes in the paintwork to speak of. The body is in likewise fantastic condition with clean, straight metal down the sides, as well as the hood roof and trunk areas. The door and panel gaps are all consistent and look very correct with no issues to speak of. Glass And Trim The glass throughout the car appears to be in good condition overall. There are a few small chips on the passenger side window in a 6-inch long section. The black rubber trim throughout the car appears in good condition with a nice supple nature to it as well as good color. Some pieces do show stereotypical white film forming on the rubber. The chrome throughout the car is in good condition, showing a nice shine and a relatively smooth finish. It looks excellent from 5 to 10 feet, but when inspecting closely, there is some light scratching and haziness to the finish, especially in high-traffic areas. The front headlights are clean and clear with no issues or pitting to speak of with headlight buckets that retain good color and finish. The front orange hazard signals have a small hairline crack on the driver side lens, but the right passenger side remains tidy. The tail lights are in good order with some light swirl marks in the plastic, but no cracking of the lenses. The gray vinyl top is in excellent shape with minimal to no signs of wear, and a clean tidy back window. The top is set off nicely by a blue trim piece on the rear edge, under the back window, that compliments the colors of the car nicely. Wheels The wheels, while in overall good condition, appear to show their originality a bit more than the rest of the vehicle. The polished lips have a bit of haziness and water spotting on them, and most of the center caps show chipping and spidering in the finish, with the front being the worst, however the rear passenger side does appear to be new and possibly replaced at some point. The white-painted faces of the wheels are in relatively good order, showing nice color and no real issues. Although the remain in great serviceable condition, In our opinion, if a future owner wanted to take this car to the next level, refinishing the wheels would do wonders for the exterior of the vehicle. Notable Flaws Overall the exterior of the car remains in fantastic condition and reflects the freshly restored nature well. The one area that could receive some attention and make a big difference would be redoing the wheels which have some haziness and water spotting on the chrome lips as well as chipped and cracked center caps. INTERIOR Seats And Surfaces The interior of the car is, essentially, fresh out of restoration and remains in excellent condition. The seats show minimal to no wear at all, although they do appear to be a bit overstuffed, an issue that may rectify itself with use over time. The door cards fit very nicely, and the wood trim on the doors and the dash have excellent color and finish to it, with only a little bit of wear appearing around the edges of the wood on the clock insert in the center of the dash. The gauges on the dash all appear in good order with nice bright white lettering. Some of the indicator lights appear to show a bit more originality with some fading to the color, but all appear in good working order. Additionally, some buttons and switches in the interior definitely show a bit more patina and originality than the rest of the vehicle, such as the HVAC insert in the center of the dash, which has some peppering to the paint but retains a nice overall color. The carpets all appear is new and fit very nicely with good color, proper weave, and a nice tight finish. The shifter has a well-fitting, proper, boot surrounding it, but the shift knob does show some more originality than the rest of the car, with some fading of the paint in the gear indicator icon. The steering wheel is in good order with nice tight stitching and a solid clean center button. The headliner remains nice and tight, with no staining or issues to speak of. It does appear that the knob for the choke lever has gone missing. Functionality And Accessories All mechanical components on the interior appear to be functioning in good order. The power windows roll up and down as they should, and the power mirrors function, although they are a bit finicky in their operation, and you have to kind of tap the button rather than holding it. The radio functions as it should, although it appears there are a few dead pixels on the LCD screen. The HVAC system appears to function as it should, although we have not tested the ability of the system to push cold air. The clock located in the center of the dash functions as it should. The power top operates as one would expect, and the footwell illumination works on the passenger side but not on the driver side. The multifunction horn works as it should, with two different pitches being emitted by pressing the button located at the bottom of the center stack. The gauges alll appear to read their requisite functions as they should. The light in the glove box illuminates when the glove box is opened, and the shifter moves easily through its range of motion Notable Flaws Overall the interior presents very nicely. The only area's of not would be that the knob for the choke lever has gone missing and that some of the buttons and face plates show more patina than the rest of the interior. ENGINE BAY AND TRUNK Engine Bay The engine was completely gone through around 13 years ago now, but remains in excellent order with correct finishes throughout and an overall well-kept and tidy nature to it. The correct hoses, lines, clamps, etc., are displayed nicely and appear in good condition. Some of the plastic components appear original and have begun to show a bit of yellow. The large hose for the HVAC system has some fraying to it. In general though the engine bay presents very nicely. Trunk Area The trunk area remains in good order with properly fitting black carpet that retains good color and weave. Visible metal retains nice paint and finish. Lifting the carpet reveals a clean factory spare, stowed in a trouble-free spare tire well. Underside The underside is very nicely finished and shows as well kept and maintained. Suspension components all appear relatively new, with no road dirt or grime to speak of. Painted surfaces retain excellent color and finish. The metal is all smooth and straight with no signs of any issues past or present. Much like the exterior of the car, it appears this Volante saw minimal usage since restoration as the underside is in fantastic condition. There are no signs of any leaks or issues to speak of. MECHANICALS Engine From cold, the big V8 fires to life with relative ease and a bit of assistance from the choke lever. Once up to temperature, it settles into a smooth and melodic idle. Out on the road, the engine makes excellent power with no stumbles or flat spots in acceleration and produces a fantastic exhaust note emanating from the rear of the car. The only thing of note is that under heavy acceleration, there is a belt in the engine bay that is a bit squeaky. Likely an easy fix. Transmission The 5-speed ZF manual transmission shifts smoothly between gears with no issues to note. The clutch has proper takeup and feedback and holds power as it should. Brakes And Suspension The brakes bring the car to a smooth and controlled stop with no issues to note. The suspension feels compliant and solid while also having a comfortable nature to it. There are no odd noises or road behaviors to speak of. Tires Currently, the car wears a set of off-brand tires that retain solid side walls and ample tread. DRIVING EXPERIENCE Many people have acquainted the Aston Martin V8 series to the British version of an American muscle car. This statement holds generally true, it has the noise and the power and a slightly raw feel to it. But in true British fashion, the driving experience and cabin comfort are absolutely more refined than their American counterparts. The overall driving experience is certainly of a “grand touring” nature (it is and Aston Martin after all) but with a bit more noise and ruckus emanating from the rear of the car. The addition of open-air motoring ability on the Volante certainly takes a well-rounded and enjoyable driving experience and makes even better. This particular V8 Volante, given its well-restored nature, drives very nicely. It shifts smoothly between gears and makes plenty of power and noise out on the road. Its cabin is comfortable and a fantastic place to cover miles in. It shows no real needs at this time and should provide an excellent basis for immediate enjoyment and touring. 1980 Aston Martin V8 Volante LBI Limited If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright Aston Martin’s “V8” line of grand tourers is one of the longest-lasting nameplates in the marque’s repertoire, manufactured in numerous variations from 1969 to 1989. • 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta by Scaglietti

Launched at the 1968 Paris Motor Show, the 365 GTB/4 soon became universally referred to as the ‘Daytona’ in honour of the Scuderia’s one-two-three result at the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours. It featured the latest 4,390-cc Tipo 251 development of Gioacchino Colombo's famous V-12. With a 9:1 compression ratio plus dry-sump lubrication and six Weber carburettors, it was good for 352 horsepower at 7,500 rpm. While the Daytona did achieve competition success—Charles Pozzi-entered cars won their class at Le Mans in 1972, 1973 and 1974—this was primarily a roadgoing grand tourer, built to cover long distances at immense speed. Nothing emphasised that more than when Brock Yates and racing legend Dan Gurney drove from New York to Los Angeles in just under 36 hours in the infamous 1971 Cannonball Run. They averaged 80 mph, with Gurney noting that “we never once exceeded 175 mph”. Ordered new in January 1971 by W.J. Skelly, the Managing Director and owner of the Skellys Ford dealerships, chassis 14323 was no standard specification example. Mr Skelly stated that he wanted his Daytona to be finished with Nocciola Metallizzato paint (metallic gold in colour), and the Connolly Leather to be in “light” Beige. He made two further requests: the first being a wood-rimmed steering wheel to be fitted instead of a leather rim; and for the car to be supplied with Borrani wire wheels and three-ear knock-off hubs. This was not only a sublime specification, but Mr Skelly’s Daytona became one of just 26 examples of the model that Ferrari would paint in Nocciola Metallizzato. Collected from Maranello on 9 July 1971, the car arrived in the UK later that month. A copy of a letter on file from Mr Skelly notes that he would hold off registering the car until the new year. Copies of an invoice from Thompson Doxey Export of Southport show that the 12,000-mile service was carried out with the odometer reading 11,418 miles, while the car had private registration number “MN 2108”. As per the documentation available to view on file, this Daytona was acquired by Dick Lovett of Swindon on 1 April 1973 and was sold to the next owner, Mr Brian See on 1 August 1975. It was later registered on 29 October 1976 to Mr Robert ‘Bobby’ Bell, co-founder of Bell & Colvill Ltd, the renowned Lotus and Morgan dealership, as the next owner. Painted in red at his time of acquisition with the odometer reported around 25,000 miles, chassis 14323 remained in Mr Bell’s care until his passing in 2017. There are multiple invoices and MoTs on file that detail the mileage and maintenance of this Ferrari Daytona. In 2015, Mr Bell purchased £4,400-worth of engine components and then had the engine rebuilt by the Ferrari specialist Vincent Mezzullo of Guildford, Surrey. The work was carried out while the odometer read approximately 35,000 miles. Acquired by the consigning owner in 2017, they sent chassis 14323 for Ferrari Classiche certification, and the car was granted an all-important Red Book on 19 September 2023. Invoices on file highlight a cost of £9,000 for the certification and a further £9,500 spent on maintenance in the autumn of 2022. Upon inspection by Ferrari, it was found to retain its matching-numbers engine and transaxle. Today, this Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona is presented in red over a tan leather interior with red inserts. Chassis 14323 is accompanied by invoices and MoTs dating to the early 1990s, along with a report from marque expert Marcel Massini, and copies of the original order documentation from Tony Willis. The vehicle is further complemented by Ferrari manuals, a tool kit, spare wheel, and its Classiche Red Book. Previous MoT certificates allow the odometer to be traced from 31,000 miles in 2006 up to the current odometer reading at the time of cataloguing, which is 38,166 miles. 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta by Scaglietti RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
