  • 1991-de-tomaso-pantera-90-si-1

Designed by the Italian firm Ghia and a team led by American-born designer Tom Tjaarda, the De Tomaso Pantera debuted in Modena, Italy in 1970 and was then displayed at the New York Motor Show. It would prove to be much more popular than the preceding Mangusta, particularly in North America, where over 5,000 of the 7,260 built were sold. Some Panteras, however, are rarer than others—and the Pantera 90 Si is among the most exclusive of them all. To update the Pantera for the 1990s, De Tomaso commissioned Marcello Gandini to restyle the car. Gandini, known for his work on the Lancia Stratos and Lamborghini’s Miura, Countach, and Diablo models, gave the Si a contemporary look. De Tomaso also lightened the chassis, modified the suspension, and installed a new engine—a 5.0-liter, 305-horsepower Ford Mustang V-8. It featured electronic fuel injection and modified cylinder heads, intake manifolds, camshafts, valves, and pistons mated to the five-speed ZF manual transmission. The Pantera reportedly topped out at over 150 mph and was equipped with four-wheel ventilated and drilled disc brakes with Brembo calipers that were shared with the Ferrari F40. A victim of the weak market in the early 1990s, just 41 Pantera Si models were built. Two were used for crash testing, and one was reserved for the De Tomaso Museum. As such, only 38 were sold to the public, of which four were converted to Targas. Further, no Pantera 90 Si examples were sold new in North America. The Pantera 90 Si offered here is one of the scarce few to have ever come to public auction. Accompanied with a trove of documentation, including copies of De Tomaso order and build information, its warranty book, and invoices, chassis 9617 was finished in Giallo over a Nero leather interior—just as it presents today—and delivered new to Germany. It would remain in Europe for much of its life, accruing limited mileage, until it was acquired by the consignor out of Belgium in 2020. At some point prior to this, it was fitted with a carbureted Ford 351 Cleveland V-8. After its arrival in the United States, it benefited from the fitment of a new carburetor, a new distributor, and other ignition components to ensure reliable performance. It has seen limited driving, however, and at the time of cataloguing it displayed just 18,763 kilometers (~11,659 miles). Today it shows minimal signs of use inside and out, and would be ideal for further presentation. Among the rarest high-performance automobiles of the 1990s, commissioned by De Tomaso and designed by Gandini, this Pantera 90 Si is a striking example of Italian car engineering and design—a true exotic worthy of a place in a sophisticated sports car collection, and a bold machine in which to see and be seen. 1991 De Tomaso Pantera 90 Si RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce ‘Twin Spark Restomod’

Penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, the 105’s clean and distinctive design made it one of the most attractive small coupes of the 1960s and 70s and the earlier ‘Stepnose’ cars were the first of that body shape and seen as the most desirable. In recent years the trend largely initiated by Alfaholics has been to modify 105 series Alfa Romeo’s. This ‘Stepnose’ is an example of one of these types of ‘Restomod’ cars and heavily influenced by the Allfaholics cars. The quality of our car is truly exceptional in every respect. After 9 years of ownership the owner embarked on a meticulous build to take the car to one of the best we’ve ever seen. The level of quality in all areas of this car is without fault and a credit to the team involved. The car was completed in 2020 and has done only around 3000 kms since. Owing to a change in personal circumstances he now needs to let the car go to the next custodian. This presents a great opportunity for the next owner to purchase the car at a fraction of the cost of the initial investment. Invoices which accompany the car total in excess of $130,000 which excludes the purchase price of the car itself. The engine was replaced by a rebuilt 2-litre twin spark with fuel injection managed by the Omex ITB ECU system. The induction noise from this set-up is simply wonderous and as expected it just pulls and pulls and pulls. The body shell was stripped, and any compromised metal was replaced. The colour whilst not original Alfa Romeo is Pino Verde Metallic – it looks simply stunning and is inspired by the Ferrari colour used in period. It compliments the interior tan colour so well. The quality of the paint and its application is flawless and the best we’ve seen. As part of the panel work done to the shell, strengthening sections were applied to increase rigidity which translates to improved performance and road holding. As expected, numerous Alfaholics parts have been used throughout the car. Turn the key and the engine fires up with a familiar Alfa Romeo growl. Out on the open road this car is just superb and is without doubt one of the most memorable test drives we’ve had the pleasure of conducting. The brakes and handling are pin sharp and the induction noise from the throttle bodies is intoxicating. Above 4000 rpm the power really starts to take hold, and the car really gets moving. The feedback is superb and the whole sensory experience is as good as it gets. Braking is helped with the fitment of Brembo’s from a later Alfa Romeo 75 and a limited slip diff and hydraulic clutch is also fitted too. Having said this the way this car has been set-up is incredibly impressive. It is not harsh or uncomfortable in any way. The ride is compliant, and it is perfectly comfortable to drive around at normal speeds. If, however, you then choose to become a bit more ‘enthusiastic’ then its character reflects this and delivers in spades. The owner specified this requirement in the build, and it has been delivered perfectly. Of note is the fitment of an electric air conditioning unit which increases the level of comfort and the cars practical use. This type of unit removes the need for under bonnet ancillary items keeping the engine bay open. The installation is excellent, and its efficiency in operation puts many modern cars to shame. It is neatly fitted to the dash area and is very simple to use too. The gearbox has been inspected and is easy to use and everything performs as expected. Elsewhere inside, the cabin feels light and airy and a nice place to be. The dashboard was refurbished with a carbon fibre face and then a satin clearcoat applied. It is a lovely detail point and pleasing to the eye. Everything works as it should with every guage completely restored. The seats use the correct Alfa Romeo materials, and the interior is a real feature of this car. A new and correct type of headlining has been fitted and the driver is greeted by a beautiful Nardi steering wheel. USB connections are available and integrated microphone too. The boot has a replacement carpet, and the rear wheel well deleted to allow for the installation of the aircon unit. The wheels are GTA style replica’s and shod in Bridgestone tyres. The engine bay is a work of art and pin sharp and presents beautifully. The battery has been moved to the boot and is in a discreet area hidden from view. As you would expect the underside of the car presents is as clean and fresh as it is on top. Overall, this represents a spectacular performance enhanced ‘Stepnose’ with a huge amount of work done and significant investment made. The work was done by experts with these 105 Alfa Romeo’s and it shows. This would be a perfect buy for someone considering restoring an ‘Alfaholics’ like car but wishing to avoid the wait or costs! A wonderfully attractive Alfa Romeo and so much fun too. 1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce ‘Twin Spark Restomod’ Сlassic Сar Market If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1958 Porsche 356 A Super Speedster

As useable and versatile classic cars go, there are few that trump Porsche’s cult-classic 356 Speedster. Its sleek and simple silhouette exudes Hollywood glamour, its air-cooled four-pot engine is best described as metronomic and its rarity all but guarantees entry to the world’s greatest classic road rallies. Think the Colorado Grand and the Modena Cento Ore. It’s as adept prowling Sunset Boulevard as it is bombing across an Alpine pass with the crisp winter air blowing through your hair. The Speedster was famously the brainchild of Max Hoffman, the shrewd and charismatic East Coast importer of prestige European cars. Hoffman recognised that a sportier and more rakish version of Porsche’s drop-top 356 would prove popular in the United States, more specifically in the warmer climes of Southern California. And he was right: the resulting Speedster was a smash hit, selling by the boat load. If you were a someone in Los Angeles in the late 1950s, you were most likely cruising around in a Speedster. Chassis no. 84372 A mere 73 Porsche 356 Speedsters were finished in the sophisticated shade of Fjord Green, of which the Reutter-bodied example we’re offering – chassis number 84372 – is one. The car was sold to its first owner, one George C. Buck from Seattle, in July of 1958, fitted with a Brown Leatherette interior, spotlights, an outside mirror and USA-specification speedometer and bumpers. Pertinently, it was also fitted with the more powerful Super engine. Remarkably, this 356 remained Stateside for six decades, returning to Europe in 2018 after it was acquired by a well-known South African Porsche collector based in the United Kingdom. At the point of sale, chassis number 84372 was noted as having a number of thoughtful and discreet performance upgrades fitted, enhancing its real-world useability. These included a 12-volt electrical system and the later 356 C’s engine, wheels and brakes. During the six years in the hands of its current custodian, this Porsche has covered fewer than 1,000 miles and been diligently maintained by respected Porsche specialists. Most recently, in June of 2023, the car’s engine was removed to allow the fitment of a new flywheel. Today, this 356 Super Speedster looks, feels and drives like a car that’s been cherished and very well maintained by a small number of owners – owners who’ve not shied away from using and enjoying the car as intended. And that’s the charm of chassis number 84372 – this is no garage queen, but rather an opportunity to capitalise on the approachability, useability and eligibility of the Speedster, a car with a perhaps unsurprising cult following around the world. Fresh from full professional paint correction, this Porsche is accompanied by its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a tool roll, a colour-matched leather tonneau cover with fitted bag, sides screens and a red leather-bound Girardo & Co. history file. 1958 Porsche 356 A Super Speedster Girardo & Co. 1995 Subaru Impreza 555 - Ex-Colin McRae, and part of his World Championship-winning campaign. There is nothing more iconic in the rally world than a “blue McRae Subaru” – and nothing more special than a car from his World Championship-winning campaign. The late, great Colin McRae only won the World Rally Championship once, taking the 1995 crown for the works 555 Subaru World Rally Team, but he certainly did it in style, mud-sliding his way to victory in front of his home crowd at Rally GB on 22nd November 1995. This car, chassis PRO/STI/01/94022 was used by McRae on the Monte Carlo and Tour de Corse Rallies in his championship year, scoring points with a 5th place in Corsica. The 1995 World Rally Championship was still under Group A regulations, meaning the car has a degree of simplicity that makes it genuinely useable on roads today – the systems on the car are infinitely simpler than those on a later WRC car and its conventional H-pattern gearbox makes running the car easier and arguably more enjoyable. It is also eligible for the FIA Historic Rally Championship. In late 1995, “94022” was sold to Prodrive’s prized privateer Frédéric Dor, who always had his cars in plain white but full factory spec beneath – and always run by the factory Prodrive team. Dor competed in both World Rallies and National Rallies in the car – his most notable result in the World Championship being a 6th overall in the 1997 Safari Rally. Driving 94022, Dor would go onto win rallies such as Rallye Terre de Corse and Rallye Terre des Drailles in 1998. The car remained in Dor’s private collection until 2016. A highly original, unquestioned, and truly useable factory McRae Subaru, from his World Championship-winning year. Today the car is registered L200 FDD, as per its time with Frédéric Dor. The car was registered L555 BAT while rallied by McRae and the Subaru World Rally Team in the 1995 World Rally Championship. 1995 Subaru Impreza 555 - Ex-Colin McRae Duncan Hamilton Rofgo Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1962 Lotus Elite SE

Superbly restored, a very well-presented example of one of Chapman’s earliest designs. The Elite Type 14 was Colin Chapman’s first production sports car that he designed for Lotus Cars, debuting in 1957. Lotus' design philosophy ran contrary to the prevailing norm, making their cars lighter, more aerodynamic and therefore more nimble, rather than increasing horsepower and weight enabling Lotus cars to outmanoeuvre much more powerful vehicles on track. It was very light, weighing just 630kg utilising a monocoque construction which meant there was no separate chassis, the body was load-bearing, and whilst this was becoming accepted practice, the Elite was the first time it had been constructed in glass-fibre. There were only two strips of steel in the car — a strip for the door hinges to attach to and a very small steel frame to which the engine and suspension were attached. When combined with independent sporty suspension, a ZF gearbox, disc brakes, a Coventry Climax all-aluminium engine and a very low drag coefficient of just 0.29, it made for a great drivers car, so much so that by production end in 1963 over 1,000 had been produced. The Elite was very expensive to produce - especially the GRP monocoque which was extremely labour-intensive (the first 280 were built by Maximar then production switched to Bristol Aircraft who built a further 760+ cars). It is estimated that Colin Chapman lost c.£100 on each Elite, so there was a backwards switch to a separate steel backbone chassis for the successor Elan, making it much cheaper to build. Offered here is very special Elite SE, presented in the wonderful period-correct Primrose Yellow with a silver metallic roof, matching Jim Clark’s road car. It's the higher performance, 85bhp factory variant (SE) which initially came fitted with twin SU carburettors, a fabricated exhaust system, the ZF Gearbox and Lucas PL700 headlamps. Purchased new in 1962 by Viscount Gough, it was subject to a complete 'last nut and bolt' restoration by the previous owner, who was meticulous in his attention to detail. In 2005, the bodywork was stripped back to the gel coat, all traces of repairs, stress cracks, and damage were removed and repaired using glass fibre only. The entire car was then re-spayed by Proline Paint, GRP specialists, costing in excess of £8,000, and all the lights were replaced with new-old-stock Lucas items. The interior is finished in black with grey carpet, the seats having been re-trimmed by a local ex-Aston Martin trimmer in black leather and the correct Irvin black seat belts were retained as was the original instrumentation, wood-rim steering wheel and its original Snail Brand tool kit and jack. Mechanically, the engine has been fully re-built up to FWB specification with a capacity of 1,460cc, using new components supplied by the premier Coventry Climax Engines specialist. These include a new-old-stock Coventry Climax crankshaft; Carrillo con-rods; new pistons; alloy five-bearing cam carrier; high-lift camshaft; new water and oil pumps; high-torque starter motor; re-cored radiator; thermostatically controlled Kenlowe electric cooling fan; new cast inlet manifold; and refurbished Weber DCOE 18 carburettors. In addition, the cylinder head has been fully ported, gas-flowed and rebuilt with larger inlet and exhaust valves. Having been fully balanced, it's not subject to the usual vibrations and shudders of an Elite. The engine will now safely rev to 7,000rpm plus, and should develop 120-125bhp. Standard fitment was a 4-speed MG gearbox with the highly sought after ZF all-synchro box offered, as an option on S2 models, but was part of the SE package. One of the drawbacks of the MG transmission was that it was low geared (standard rear axle ratio of 4.22:1 plus a direct fourth gear) meaning that the engine ran at quite high revs when cruising. This led to the development of a 5-speed Type-9 conversion – greatly improving driveability with its 'overdrive' fifth gear. This is all achieved without any modifications to the monocoque - so is completely reversible and vastly improves the driving experience. '905 FWB' is fitted with a Type 9 5-speed gearbox complete with a new clutch cover and drive plate. New bearings and universal joints were fitted throughout, and the 4.22:1 differential fully rebuilt, while the new 60-spoke wire wheels were fitted with period-correct Pirelli Cinturato tyres. In 2014, the suspension was replaced in its entirety by Tolman Motorsport. The original rear wishbones utilised a 'rubber ball' type location at the inboard end which can wear prematurely leading to instability caused by unwanted changes in toe angle. This Elite had the rear wishbones converted to rose joints in place of the 'ball & socket' arrangement, along with the Tolman Motorsport adjustable suspension set-up. Despite being MOT exempt, our vendor put the car through a voluntary MOT which it passed with no advisories, valid until 8th October 2024. Built in very small numbers (circa 1,040), and presenting in fabulous condition, this very well-sorted Elite is a delightful example. Having seen a full restoration with intelligent upgrades, this is certainly a car that Chapman would be proud to bear his name. 1962 Lotus Elite SE Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. For many enthusiasts, the Lancia Stratos is one of the definitive ‘poster cars’ of the 1970s, offering not only a striking blend of Bertone styling and Ferrari’s sonorous V6 engine, but also a long history of motorsport success. The car being offered for sale here is chassis number 001951. Its factory Certificato di Origine shows that it was sold new in September 1975 to Germany as a Stradale model, and was finished in Rosso Stratos with Pelle Nera interior. The Stratos has subsequently been converted to full Group 4 specification, with painstaking attention to detail. The Group 4 body panels were created using the original tooling in Italy, while the suspension is fully Rose-joined. There are also Bilstein dampers all round with ride-height adjustment, plus an Eibach adjustable anti-roll bar front and rear. The front suspension features strengthened lower arms and Group 4-spec track-control arms, while at the rear there are alloy hub carriers, plus strengthened lower wishbones and radius arms. A Group 4 high-ratio steering rack has been installed with 2.5 turns lock to lock, while the braking system includes four-piston calipers and dual Girling master cylinders with adjustable bias. The five-speed dog ’box is also to full Group 4 specification, and the 15in Campagnolo-style magnesium wheels have been fitted with Pirelli tyres. The 2.4-litre Dino V6 engine features ported and gas-flowed Group 4 heads with 45mm inlet valves and 39mm exhaust valves. High-compression pistons have been installed, along with an Arrow steel crankshaft and con-rods. It breathes through a trio of Weber 44 IDF carburettors and has a Group 4 air filter and box. There’s also a lightened flywheel, baffled sump and a six-into-one exhaust manifold. Inside, there’s an integral roll cage, Recaro seats, OMP harnesses, a Lifeline fire extinguisher and analogue rally clocks. Not only is this Lancia Stratos superbly finished throughout, with a huge specification, it is truly spectacular to drive and boasts a soundtrack that evokes the glory days of 1970s rallying. • 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage

HISTORY Often referred to as ‘the most famous car in the world’ the Aston Martin DB5 needs no introduction. Immortalized by its starring role in the 1964 blockbuster film ‘Goldfinger’ the DB5 gained immediate worldwide popularity by its involvement in the 007 film which it remains an integral part to the current day Between 1963-1965 AM built 886 coupes and just 123 convertible examples. The DB5 Convertible is one of the most beautiful and desirable British cars ever constructed and our car is perhaps one of the most well known of the 123 cars First registered on June 2nd 1964, our car was acquired by HRH Prince Michael of Kent on 9th May 1967. Interestingly by this time the DB6 Volante was in production and the DB5C was no longer a current car but Prince Michael clearly preferred the beautiful lines of the previous DB5 model over the then new DB6 In March 1968 it is understood that his highness requested a new high performance ‘C Type Vantage’ engine to be fitted by the factory and he enjoyed the car until 16th March 1970 when he sold the car to Mr Richard Miles of Abingdon, Berks. Mr Miles retained the car until 3rd July 1972 when it was sold again to Mrs Kirsten Harwood During the next 30 years Mr Richard and Mrs Kirsten Harwood used and enjoyed the DB5C and it was a regular sight and award winner at AMOC club concours and sprint events as well as a being used on a multitude of historic rally events including the 1987 RAC Rally. Registered ‘RCH 18’ the DB5C was selected in 1994 to be featured in the exclusive book by Palawan Press entitled ‘Aston Martin: The Compleat Car’ Club records show that by the early 2000s the car was sold to Mr A.Lewis and in 2016 the previous owner commissioned a ‘body-off’ restoration by Aston Martin Works which was completed in May 2021. The DB5C was awarded with Aston Martin Works ‘Assured Provenance Certification’ at the time of completion Fresh from its factory restoration and finished in its original and attractive ‘Tudor Grey’ coachwork with Beige interior, this important and well known DB5C is supplied with comprehensive history from new and period fitted luggage 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage Dylan Miles Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1976-alfa-romeo-1600gt-junior

Fully restored and intelligently uprated, this beautiful little Alfa is on offer at a fraction of its build cost. Built from 1963 until 1977, the Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Coupés were the successors to the celebrated Giulietta Sprint Coupé and used the shortened floor pan from the Giulia saloon. The basic body shape, shared by all models, was designed by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone and although it was early in his career and one of his first major projects, this design is often regarded as some of his best work. The balance of glass and metal, the influence of the shape of the front and rear glass on the shape of the cabin and the flat grille with incorporated headlamps were all considered groundbreaking styling features for the era. Imported from South Africa in 2017, this particular 1600GT Junior has been the subject of a professional nut and bolt rebuild completed in 2021. It was stripped to a bare shell before being blasted back to bare metal to ensure that no corners were cut with regards to hidden areas of corrosion or deterioration within the shell. After the necessary repairs to the sills, wings, boot area and front valance were carried out, the shell was primed and repainted in Alfa Rosso to a superb standard with the underside being Raptor treated to ensure longevity. At this point the mechanical aspects of the Alfa were considered with the decision taken to upgrade where possible which involved the fitting of a replacement 1,962cc Alfa GTV engine supplied by VeloceSport, built to 'fast road' specification with a Petronix ignition system fitted to enhance usability. Sports suspension was fitted with adjustable suspension arms delivering an improved ride through a superb set of 15" alloy GTA-style road wheels. Additional enhancements include an aluminium foam-filled fuel tank with Facet fuel pump, alloy radiator with electric cooling fan, lightweight starter motor, uprated alternator, rebuilt brake servos and calipers all with new lines fitted with reliability and durability in mind. It should also be noted that all wiring was replaced with additional facilities built in should the future owner wish to fit spot lights, second fuel pump or rear rain/fog lights. A full wiring manual will be supplied within the history file. As you would expect from a build of this quality, the cabin space also received the required treatment with the seats being retrimmed in Magnolia hide enhanced by high quality carpeting providing an impressive interior which can only add to the overall enjoyment that we suggest this Alfa will bring to its next custodian. The owner's file contains an extensive photographic record of the restoration together with a copy of the Certificate of Originality from Alfa Romeo Classiche. With just 300 miles covered since the extensive and considered build was completed, it is suggested that a period of further running-in will be required to achieve the very best from this increasingly desirable Alfa and with that in mind we welcome and encourage your early inspection to ensure that this particular 105 fulfils your expectations. 1976 Alfa Romeo 1600GT Junior Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
