- 1971-lamborghini-miura-p400-sv-by-bertone
From the vanishingly rare 150 Miura P400 SVs built, the exquisite car offered here was dispatched from the Lamborghini plant in Sant'Agata Bolognese on 4 December 1971. A late production example featuring the most sought-after configuration of a “split-sump” lubrication system and factory air conditioning, chassis number 4946 was destined for the United States. Handsomely specified in Rosso Corsa over a Bleu interior, it was delivered via the Modena Car dealership in New York City. Although the P400 SV’s early history is largely unknown, it surfaced in the 1980s. Then based in California, it was owned by dentist Norman Baker. According to The Lamborghini Miura Register, by this time the exterior had been changed to a blue hue. Returning to Europe the following decade, the car was offered for sale in France and later in the Netherlands by the Very Superior Old Cars concern, having been owned by Peter Veegers and Paul VJ Koot, the former president of the Borrani wire wheel company and Carrozzeria Touring. The Lamborghini was then acquired by a private museum collection in Portugal in 2003 and soon after it was changed to red. Come 2012 the P400 SV was sold via a dealer in Belgium and, with the help of leading marque authority Gary Bobileff, returned to the United States. After recrossing the Atlantic, the Lamborghini was adjudged by Bobileff to be in fine fettle. To bring the car to its very best, however, chassis 4946 was then submitted to his Bobileff Motorcar Company in San Diego in California for a mechanical refresh. The P400 SV was also repainted in Rosso Corsa and the interior reupholstered in Bleu by Spinneybeck of New York, using a swatch of original leather. The brakes, front suspension, and instruments were rebuilt and the hydraulics overhauled (including the clutch master cylinder), plus the fuel lines were replaced and a new aluminium fuel tank installed. Thanks to this meticulous attention, the Miura SV was duly crowned “Best Lamborghini” at Concorso Italiano’s Miura 50th Anniversary celebration held during the Monterey Classic Car Week in 2016. Such a prestigious accolade was true testament to this car’s innate quality, it not having required a full restoration to head the competition. Offered today in its factory-correct colour scheme, this beautiful example of a Miura is made even more desirable by virtue of retaining its matching-numbers 3.9-litre, transversely mounted V-12 engine. Accompanied by its books in their folios, a tool roll, spare wheel, and a reproduction fitted luggage set, this rare “split sump” example with air conditioning is without doubt among the most coveted Miura P400 SVs in existence. 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV by Bertone RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1968 Lamborghini 400 GT
Following a bitter dispute with Enzo Ferrari, Ferruccio Lamborghini’s tractor empire had left him with enough capital to challenge the established Italian marque. His first foray into sportscars would see him hiring Giotti Bizzarrini, formerly of Alfa Romeo and latterly as a test driver and then chief engineer at Ferrari. His work at Ferrari included the development of the 250 TR and 250 GT Berlinetta SWB before his grand-finale, the 250 GTO. His direction saw a reduction in front lift and the movement of the engine further back into chassis for better handling; with a formidable result. After his departure from Ferrari, Bizzarrini would work on various sports racers before founding Società Autostar (SA), an engineering firm that would bid for freelance contracts. Ferruccio Lamborghini commissioned SA to build him a bespoke V12 powerplant to go up against Ferrari. It first appeared in the 350 GT as a 3,464cc in 1962 and its fundamental design would continue to see use until the Murcielago as a 6,496cc in 2010. The Lamborghini 350 GT was debuted at the 1964 Geneva Motor Show, with production starting in May of that year. Utilising independent suspension all round, Bizzarrini’s 3.5 litre V12 and a body by Carrozzeria Touring, the 350 was an instant hit. Lamborghini had asked that his Gran Turismo’s powerplant was ‘good for 40,000 hard miles between services’, which saw the engine detuned from its 400hp racing prototype, to a still generous 270hp in production specification. Lamborghini produced 120 examples of the 350 GT before the upgraded 400 GT 2+2 was introduced in 1966. There were a handful of interim cars with the larger engine but the original form. Benefitting from an enlarged 4.0 litre V12, the 400 GT saw power increase to 320hp and a revised, Lamborghini-designed gearbox with a synchromesh on all gears. Then importers Mitchell & Britten brought just 4 examples of the 400 GT in to the UK. These four cars were sent to renowned coachbuilders Hooper & Co for conversion to right hand drive. This example was first registered on 16th February 1968 where it would gain the registration ‘SLF 406F’ that it retains to this day. It has been quoted several times during the history of this 400 GT that it found first ownership with Sir Paul McCartney of The Beatles. References to his ownership are mentioned in several published books; Lamborghini Supreme Amongst Exotics by Andrew Moreland; Lamborghini by Chris Harvey; and Lamborghini: The Legend by David Hodges. One of the sister RHD cars, ‘SLF 403F, also maroon over beige at the time, shares this claim to fame. What is known about this 400 GT starts from shortly after; accompanied by a thorough history folio, including its continued ‘Buff’ logbook from 1972 onwards. Earliest confirmed ownership is penned with that of H.E Fuller & Son of Buckhorn Weston, Dorset. The 400 GT would remain with them for 3 years, moving into the name of another Dorset based company and then into the name of John Menhinick of Beauchamp Roding in 1975. John’s son Alex as well as the succeeding custodian Michael Hipperson, joined us at DK recently to see the car for the first time in 45 years. Registered in John’s name, he had used the car sparingly, whilst wife Nancy used the car as her daily driver. Son Alex recalled taking the wheel aged just 18, and stretching the legs of the 4.0 litre V12! The Menhinicks kept the car until 1979 and it was fondly remembered during that time. In 1979, the car was owned by avid collector and enthusiast Michael Hipperson. He recalled purchasing the car from the Menhinicks large, ivy-clad house. Michael didn’t keep the car long, but it is still fondly chronicled in his book ‘Let Them Stare’. Michael sold the car to Nicholas Portway, an avid fan of both Lamborghini and The Beatles. Nic would keep the car the longest and fall so much for the car he would even own it twice. The 400 GT would see occasional use in Nic’s care for over 10 years, before his first sale at the peak of classic car values in the early 1990s for £70,000. Buyers remorse saw him purchase the car back two years later, with just 800 miles added to the car but the value halved! Nicholas kept good care of the car, rebuilding the gearbox in 1988 and the rear suspension 6 years later. MOTs were diligently carried out documenting the mileage along the way. In 2011, the car was placed into a Bonhams auction and whilst it would fail to sell on the day, it would find its next custodian shortly after. The next custodian would relocate the car to Hong Kong, where it would be stored for the most part with Lamborghini Hong Kong. The car would take centre stage on alongside an LP400 Periscopio and Reventon Roadster in a Lamborghini pop-up museum in 2014.The 400 GT was used sparingly and later returned to the UK. Most recently the car has been treated to a full restoration. The 400 GT was taken back to bare metal with specialists Bodylines of Northampton, later refinished in the period correct shade of Grigio St Vincent by Matt Fells. The engine was rebuilt by Chesman Motorsport with final setup completed by Tom Ransom of Colin Clarke Engineering. Other works including the gearbox, axle and wiring loom were carried out by Scott Smith. The interior has been tastefully reappointed in Connolly Vaumol VM3104 Ochre. The restoration has been extensively documented with close to 400 photographs, presented in the accompanying history folio. A rare opportunity to acquire one of just four UK supplied 400 GTs, this example is ready to be used and enjoyed by its next custodian and is available to view at our showrooms outside London immediately. 1968 Lamborghini 400 GT D.K. - 1976-lamborghini-espada-series-iii
The Lamborghini Espada Series III represents the final and most refined evolution of Lamborghini’s four-seat V12 Grand Tourer. Introduced in 1972, the Series III benefitted from several key improvements over earlier cars, including revised suspension geometry, uprated brakes and a more luxurious, ergonomically improved interior. Power continued to come from Lamborghini’s 3.9-litre quad-cam V12, now delivering around 350bhp in standard form, paired with either manual or automatic transmission. These later cars are widely regarded as the most usable of the Espada range, combining the model’s dramatic styling with improved drivability and comfort for long-distance touring. Offered here is a late production, right-hand drive Series III example and, according to the Lamborghini register, one of just 121 built. Chassis #9510 is understood to be among the final right-hand drive cars to leave the factory. Over the years, this Espada has been both privately owned and displayed within the Auto Glass family museum, which houses a notable collection of 'landmark' classic cars. Between 2002 and 2014, the car was entrusted to respected Lamborghini specialist, Colin Clarke Engineering, for a comprehensive rebuild. Following inspection, it was decided to carry out a full nut-and-bolt restoration, completed between 2008 and 2010, which included a complete body restoration, engine and gearbox rebuilds, overhaul of all running gear and a full interior retrim. The car was refinished in black, the underside treated for longevity and the interior retrimmed in grey leather to a high standard. It is also understood that the engine was uprated during this process and now produces in the region of 400bhp. Today, the Espada presents extremely well, with the quality of the restoration still evident throughout. The paintwork displays a consistent finish across the bodywork, the engine bay remains clean and well detailed, and the interior shows minimal signs of wear, reflecting careful use and correct storage in recent years. It's accompanied by a history file including a bespoke volume produced by Colin Clarke Engineering documenting the restoration in detail. There is also supporting documentation confirming chassis and engine numbers, a current V5C registration document and a copy of the Espada driver's handbook. In summary, this represents an opportunity to acquire a late, right-hand drive Series III Espada, benefitting from a comprehensive professional restoration and presented in highly attractive condition. As the final and most developed version of the model, it offers strong appeal as a usable and visually striking V12 Lamborghini for both collection and enjoyment. 1976 Lamborghini Espada Series III Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1969 Lotus Elan 2+2 Convertible
Whilst current market values often don't show it, the Elan Plus 2 was a pivotal car for Lotus when it launched in 1967. Its Ron Hickman lines and shared name may have pinned it with the petite breakthrough Elan of five years prior, but the Plus 2 was much more than a mere variant of the first mass market Lotus. It was the marque's first real concerted push towards the upmarket sports car sector it inhabits today. Where its junior sibling was aimed squarely at the enthusiastic hobbyist, the Plus 2 was conceived to tempt the affluent young family man out of his Jaguar and into a Lotus for the first time. Consequently, the Lotus was generously adorned with Walnut veneers, leather, gauges, switches and the airy interior required by arriving young executives and their families. In confirmation of this, the Plus 2 was the first Lotus not available in self-assembly form. However, despite its larger overall dimensions, the Plus 2 remained true to the Lotus 'simplify and add lightness' mantra, and the extended and widened Elan backbone chassis ensured that the Plus 2 retained the urgency and reactiveness that had proved such a hit with the original. This was something special - a light, sporty concept that was brand new to this sector of the market, and so much more than an enlarged Elan. We imagine that the management at Lotus must have discussed, at some point, the possibility of chopping the top off the Elan Plus 2, but it never happened, leaving the field wide open for enterprising Lotus dealer and marque expert, Christopher Neil, to do just that with his CN Cabriolets a few years later. First registered in 1969, XWW 50G started life as a Lotus Yellow Plus 2 Coupé before being converted to an open-top car using a Christopher Neil conversion kit. Around the year 2000, it was in need of a restoration and this was duly carried out. The work included a new chassis, sills, a full engine rebuild, new brakes, a wiring loom and finally it was refinished in a very attractive shade of Indigo Blue. Since being owned by our vendor, an ex-Formula 1 mechanic, it has been further improved by fitting new suspension from Tony Thompson Racing in 2021 with the invoice in the history file for £,2,871, Sue Miller driveshafts, an aluminium fuel tank and aluminium radiator, and a new mohair roof and tonneau from Autotrim for £1,440. It's supplied with an original Christopher Neil Conversions sales brochure, multiple receipts, MOTs etc. and its V5C. Presented to a good standard, this is a rare car, and you are unlikely to see another on the road. Remarkably, it's on offer at No Reserve, making this a tempting proposition. 1969 Lotus Elan 2+2 Convertible Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1995 Honda NSX TYPE R
The Type R variant of the NSX was introduced in 1992 as a track-oriented version exclusively for the Japanese market with several amenities eliminated in favor of a claimed weight savings of approximately 265 pounds. Exterior features distinct to the NSX-R model include mesh grilles integrated into the front air inlets and a red Honda nose badge. The Honda NSX Type R is a lightweight version of the marque’s acclaimed 1990s sports car, presented in superb condition throughout and representing the genesis point of the storied ‘Type R’ nameplate. Under the engine lid is a 3.0-liter naturally aspirated V6, producing around 270bhp and 210lb-ft, coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. To create the Type R, engineers took a standard coupe and set about a program of significant weight reduction. The sound-deadening material was removed, along with the traction control, motorized leather seats, and the original wheels. In their place, lightweight carbon-kevlar bucket seats were fitted, trimmed in red suede cloth, along with Enkei forged alloy wheels to reduce unsprung mass. The electric windows were retained, along with the forward and back electric seat control, while the gear knob was hewn from titanium. #252 Chassis 252 was acquired from the original Japanese owner and subsequently imported into the United States in December 2022. 1995 Honda NSX TYPE R Mouse Motors LLC If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. This superb example is presented in Celeste Chiaro with blue leather interior. It was specially ordered from new with metallic paint, black carpets, black leather centre console, electric windows, air conditioning, Campagnolo wheels and Dynatrol rust treatment. The car has just come out of single ownership since in 2004, and has been stored in a dehumidified storage facility as part of a significant Italian car collection. Whilst being stored and maintained properly, it was also used regularly. It’s history goes back as far as 1987 including invoices with work carried out by Emblem Sports Cars and Bill McGrath, who fully recommissioned the car when the current owner purchased it. The history file also contains full Maserati Classiche documents, original End of Line data sheet, road test document and delivery note to Modena Concessionaires Ltd in the UK. Why choose between style and performance when you can have both? That's exactly what this car is all about. We could go on and on about how even Enzo Ferrari considered this car the most beautiful of all time. But let's be honest, we know that now! Besides, did you know that he really, really considered this car the most beautiful ever? An interim phase was built from 1967 to 1968, informally known as the '1 1/2'. These models were very similar to the Series 1, but towards the end they no longer had the glass-covered headlamps and other controls. Equipment from the upcoming Series 2 was slowly added, while the bodywork always remained that of the Series 1. At Jaguar itself, these '1 1/2s' were simply considered Series 1. We could talk for hours about the stunning design of the E-Type, especially this one in Golden Sand. A breathtaking colour! By the way, did you know that Enzo Ferrari thinks this is truly, truly the most beautiful car ever? 1968 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 OTS Cool Classic Club If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1971-alfa-romeo-spider-1750
We are delighted to offer for sale an unusual and rare example of Alfa Romeo’s much-loved Spider. The Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Spiders were produced in 4 Series and originally penned by Pininfarina himself. It is arguably one of the most appealing Alfa Romeo designs to date and remained in production between 1966 and 1994. Our car is the second incarnation of the original design where the famous ‘Kamm Tail’ replaced the rounded design of the first series cars. However, our car was the very first of the Kamm Tails which initially came with the 1750 engine. These were produced from only 1969 to 1972 and in tiny numbers prior to the introduction of the 2000 Spider. As such they are rare cars and RHD versions are rarer still with only 139 believed produced. Records we have confirm this example is a matching numbers car and was manufactured on July 22nd, 1971, and delivered to Alfa Romeo Australia (Sydney) in September that year. The body colour was Rosso with a black interior which it still presents with today. Its original service booklet confirms the car was sold to a Mr John Young in Queensland and the car has remained in Queensland to this day. We believe the car has had only 3 or 4 owners from new, and we sold the car to the current owner some 5 years ago. The previous owner had the car for some 25 years and used it sparingly keeping it at his weekend residence on the Gold Coast. Prior to this we believe he purchased it from John Young the original owner. The current owner has undertaken some sympathetic restoration work on the car including fitting a new interior including dashboard and seats. The underside was stripped and cleaned. Some corrosion was found in the floor pans, and these were replaced with new items. The engine has been serviced and the engine bay detailed to present as it would have done originally. We understand the paint on the car was applied some 25 years ago and not the original. There are some areas of bubbling on the lower guards however this has been there for some years, and our recommendation would be to leave as is and enjoy the car for what it is. A few stone chips are also present and would benefit from being touched up. Having said this the paint was originally well applied and has a decent gloss to it. The panel gaps across the whole car are good and doors and boot close as they should with seals being correctly applied. Start the engine and you immediately know you are in an Alfa Romeo. The classic 1750 engine fires up with that familiar growl and then you are away. Out on the open road this car drives without fault with a surprising amount of go from the engine, it is one of the best 1750’s we’ve driven. The interior is a lovely place to be. The original steering wheel greets the eye, and the classic dash is very appealing and being refurbished is like new. The instruments are in fine order too. The seats have been recovered as per original and again are like new. A full set of new mats finishes off the interior off beautifully. All the switches are spot on. The hood is in good order and the car wears its correct wheels which have been refurbished with new correct spec hubcaps. Underneath the car has been cleaned with suspension removed and refurbished. For the new owner this presents a wonderful opportunity to acquire a rare example of an ever-popular Alfa Romeo Spider. The car comes with its rare original books, spare key and Certificate of Origin. It is recently serviced and ready for its next owner to enjoy. 1971 Alfa Romeo Spider 1750 Сlassic Сar Market If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. In 1985, Alpina launched the B10 3.5 based on the BMW 535i (E28) and the B10 3.5 Coupé based on the BMW 635 CSi (E24). The B10 3.5 Coupé was the only version of the B10 that was not based on a BMW 5 Series. The second generation of the Alpina B10 was produced from 1988 onwards and was based on the BMW E34, depending on the engine version on the BMW 525ix, 535i or 540i. At the time of its market launch, this was the only version of the B10 available. The 3.5-litre inline six-cylinder engine of the BMW 535i was revised and now delivered 254 hp instead of 211 hp. Production was discontinued in 1992 after 572 units had been built. This B10 3.5 was delivered new to Switzerland, supplied by Alpina to the importer Max Heidegger on 8 February 1989 and handed over to the first owner by Emil Frey SA in Geneva on 15 March of that year. CHF 98’970 (over CHF 40’000 more than for a BMW 535i) was charged for the sporty saloon in ‘Diamond Black Metallic’ with grey leather upholstery, electrically adjustable sports seats, electric sunroof, automatic climate control, cruise control and limited-slip differential. The first owner – a Spanish citizen residing in the canton of Geneva – enjoyed using the Alpina for trips to his home country and had it serviced at the local BMW dealership. In 2015, with around 130’000 kilometers on the clock, the B10 changed hands to its second owner, who only covered a good 4’000 kilometers with it in the following years. Maintenance was carried out in the company's own workshop before the car passed to its last owner at the end of 2021. With 137’500 km on the clock, a service booklet, some receipts and all the keys, the Alpina is in good condition and well maintained, with the usual signs of wear. The last veteran MOT was completed in November 2025. 1989 BMW Alpina B10 3.5 Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1991 Jaguar XJR-15 2
By the mid-to-late 1980s, Jaguar had firmly re-established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the top echelon of motorsport. Jaguar formed a partnership with Tom Walkinshaw Racing, called JaguarSport, in 1986; its objective was to compete, and win, in the same World Sportscar Championship (WSC) where Jaguar had built its racing legacy with its C-Type and D-Type racers. Jaguar honed the performance credentials of its XJR prototype racecar platform through various model iterations. This culminated with the XJR-9 and XJR-12, which won the 1988 and 1990 editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This monumental success on the track would form the building blocks for what followed from Jaguar. Demand for a roadgoing version of the XJR-9 was apparent, and so the thundering, ground-breaking XJR-15 was birthed with development by JaguarSport. Employing a heavily tuned 6-liter, 450-horsepower version of the same V-12 engine that brought Jaguar its recent victories, and with an approximately 2,300-pound curb weight, the XJR-15 possessed a race-bred power to weight ratio that outclassed all supercars of the era. However, the comparisons to the XJR-9 did not end there. The XJR-15 used a central monocoque chassis tub similar in concept to that of the Tony Southgate-designed, Le Mans-winning XJR-9, although this new tub, designed Jim Router and Dave Fullerton, differed somewhat in its dimensions. The body was designed by Peter Stevens, who was also responsible for the McLaren F1, and was constructed with a unique carbon fiber and Kevlar composite. Notably, this was the world’s first roadgoing car to use carbon fiber in the construction of its body and tub. The XJR-9 suspension was retained at all four wheels, with fabricated wishbones and horizontal pushrod-spring dampers at the front and coil springs at the rear. Four-piston AP Racing calipers mated to disc brakes housed completely within the wheels provided stopping power. After undergoing development tests through 1990, the car was officially launched in November of that year, built by JaguarSport in a specialized facility in Oxfordshire. In a production run that would last until 1992, Jaguar Sport would build 50 production examples of the XJR-15. Of these, only 27 of those would leave the factory in roadgoing specification, while the others followed directly in the lineage of the preceding XJR racecars and were built especially for the track. Serial number 008, presented here, is one of the 27 XJR-15s constructed for road use. These XJR-15s were equipped with five-speed transaxles rather than the race-tuned, six-speed Le Mans gearboxes. A preservation-quality example, chassis 008 displays a mere 83 miles at the time of cataloguing. Sold new in Japan to respected collector Miura Shoji, the car was kept in a meticulously preserved state until being acquired by an American collector in 2018. After being imported to the United States in December 2018, the car is said to have been sent to Fast Cars Limited of Redondo Beach, California for a full fluid change and general mechanical checkup. The consignor acquired the car in 2022 and, in July 2023, treated it to another complete fluid change by Fast Cars Limited. With its carbon weave structure visible even through the paint, in addition to its clear engine cover and three-piece OZ racing wheels, the exterior delights the senses and hints at the car’s astounding performance. Inside, leather racing seats cradle the driver and passenger, with hardwired headsets for easy conversation when cruising in the triple digits. The bare, black-and-silver striped carbon fiber tub is exposed throughout the cabin, with the material framing the gauges and Nardi racing steering wheel and highlighting the unique shifter mounted up against the inner door sill. As a rare, road-ready counterpart to the car that returned Jaguar to the top of the racing world, and displaying just 83 miles, this meticulously maintained XJR-15 certainly ranks among the finest available and is sure to make a treasured addition of any collection. 1991 Jaguar XJR-15 RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
