Ferrari's 201 mph F40 is the definitive supercar and has a formidable reputation alongside the 250 GTO as possibly the best road Ferrari built to date. With the F40, Pininfarina produced an era-defining creation, one that even today is instantly recognisable by old and young enthusiasts alike. F40's were closely derived from the experimental GTO Evoluzione and the road-going 288 GTO (that the F40 replaced). The design features a tubular steel chassis with bonded composite inserts, most notably around the sills and floor pan, The 2,936 cc motor produces approximately 500 bhp at 7,000 rpm with the help of two water-cooled IHI turbochargers running 1.1 bar of boost. At 1,202 kg, the F40 had, and still has, a phenomenal power-to-weight ratio. Shatteringly fast by any comparison (especially for 1988), the F40 can sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and hit 201 mph flat out making it the first production car to surpass this mystical boundary. This example was supplied new to its first owner 'Diretto', a direct factory sale, with the bookpack later being supplied by Crepaldi of Milan to Rasini Leasing SpA on 16th May 1991. Purchased from the collection of a noted Swiss Ferrari enthusiast in 2006, the car would remain in Switzerland for two further years prior to import into the United Kingdom in December 2008. Following on from registration, the car was placed into longterm storage within a secure facility in the UK. Forming a part of a significant collection, the car would barely move during his near two-decade ownership. Following a major recomissioning service including a full fluid flush, cambelts and fuel cells, the car passed to its current owner in 2025. Since then further remedial works to further improve this F40 have been carried out at considerable expense. These works included the replacement and refinishing of components, remedial works for a sagging headliner and removed the cam covers to replace engine o-rings tending to oil leaks. Extensive interior and exterior detailing has been carried out totalling £12,800. Most recently benefitting from an annual service in January 2026, this example has been inspected for its red book Classiche certification which is in process. This cat, non-adjust example is available to view at our showrooms outside London immediately, today presenting with just 14,900 km.
