In 1985, Alpina launched the B10 3.5 based on the BMW 535i (E28) and the B10 3.5 Coupé based on the BMW 635 CSi (E24). The B10 3.5 Coupé was the only version of the B10 that was not based on a BMW 5 Series. The second generation of the Alpina B10 was produced from 1988 onwards and was based on the BMW E34, depending on the engine version on the BMW 525ix, 535i or 540i. At the time of its market launch, this was the only version of the B10 available. The 3.5-litre inline six-cylinder engine of the BMW 535i was revised and now delivered 254 hp instead of 211 hp. Production was discontinued in 1992 after 572 units had been built. This B10 3.5 was delivered new to Switzerland, supplied by Alpina to the importer Max Heidegger on 8 February 1989 and handed over to the first owner by Emil Frey SA in Geneva on 15 March of that year. CHF 98’970 (over CHF 40’000 more than for a BMW 535i) was charged for the sporty saloon in ‘Diamond Black Metallic’ with grey leather upholstery, electrically adjustable sports seats, electric sunroof, automatic climate control, cruise control and limited-slip differential. The first owner – a Spanish citizen residing in the canton of Geneva – enjoyed using the Alpina for trips to his home country and had it serviced at the local BMW dealership. In 2015, with around 130’000 kilometers on the clock, the B10 changed hands to its second owner, who only covered a good 4’000 kilometers with it in the following years. Maintenance was carried out in the company's own workshop before the car passed to its last owner at the end of 2021. With 137’500 km on the clock, a service booklet, some receipts and all the keys, the Alpina is in good condition and well maintained, with the usual signs of wear. The last veteran MOT was completed in November 2025.
