Chassis 017284 was supplied new in the UK, finished in Rolls-Royce Royal Blue over a Ferrari tan leather interior with Ferrari blue piping and a dark blue mohair hood, fitted with a Ford 302ci V8 small-block high-output engine with electronic fuel injection paired to a Borg-Warner five-speed gearbox and fitted with the following options: wing-mounted wind sunvisors, three-eared wheel spinners, exterior side air vents, front air intakes and a cockpit roll bar. In the early 1990s the car was acquired by the owner of a prestigious offshore powerboat racing team and underwent a ground-up rebuild. Finished in the team’s bespoke Lethal Magic livery to match their Cougar 41 race boat, the car’s horsepower was significantly increased with the addition of a Vortech supercharger, increasing power from 225 to 400 hp. The recondition was executed to a very high standard an aluminium bonnet air intake and bespoke lightweight aluminium wheels were fitted and every gauge, switch, cap, radiator and engine bay component were refinished, anodised and laser-etched with the Cobra motif, an Alpine audio system and speakers were installed plus a custom aluminium boot floor, engine bonnet inlay and electric door catches. Acquired by its 5th and current owner in 2023, who commissioned a recondition including a full repaint in Daytona Grey, a reupholstered black interior with new black carpets, the stereo system has been updated with a pioneer GM-D9704 amplifier and Sony head unit and the Vortech supercharger rebuilt. The car shows no imperfections and the panel gaps and fit are excellent. Several subtle Lethal Magic details have been retained as a nod to its unique history, though these can be easily changed depending on the new owner’s preferences. Presented in excellent condition throughout and complete with its history file. Viewing is highly recommended.
