This 1984 Lamborghini Jalpa is one of approximately 410 examples produced between 1981 and 1988, and it was manufactured in February 1983. It was imported and federalized by Tech Automotive before it was purchased new by the current owner’s late husband. The car is finished in red over tan leather upholstery, and power comes from a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V8 mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. Features include a removable roof panel, Carello front fog lights, 16? O.Z. Racing wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, power windows, air conditioning, an Alpine stereo, a Raid steering wheel, and a gated shifter. A 2022 service included overhauls of the carburetors and brakes as well as the installation of a replacement timing belt, engine gaskets, catalytic converters, tires, spark plugs, and a fuel pump. This Jalpa is now offered on dealer consignment as part of Mohr Imports’ Monterey Collection Sale with an owner’s manual, tools, recent service records, and a California title. The Jalpa was designed by Bertone and debuted at the 1981 Geneva Motor Show. This example is finished in red with a contrasting gray removable roof panel, rear quarter air intakes, engine lid, and bumpers. Equipment includes Carello fog lamps, pop-up headlights, a power-adjustable driver-side mirror, flared wheel arches, and rectangular taillights. Replacement wiring for the listing system was installed by Walnut Creek Luxury Cars of California in 2022. Paint chips and areas of thin paint are noted by the selling dealer as are cracks in fiberglass components and rust in the rocker panels. The 16? Ruote O.Z. wheels are mounted with 205/55 front and 225/50 rear Kumho Ecsta PS31 tires that were installed in 2022. A Ruote O.Z. spare wheel with a Continental temporary-use tire is stowed in the front trunk. The Jalpa features an independent suspension, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes that were overhauled in 2022 and fitted with replacement brake hoses. The cockpit features manually adjustable bucket seats trimmed in tan leather along with a color-coordinated center console and door panels that are contrasted by a brown dashboard. Equipment includes power windows, air conditioning, an Alpine cassette stereo, and a gated shifter. Aftermarket beige carpets line the floors. Leather on the instrument panel surround leather is split, and the dashboard shows areas of warping. The driver’s seat is worn. The leather-wrapped Raid steering wheel frames a 280-km/h speedometer, a 9k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure and amperage. Readouts for coolant temperature, oil temperature, and fuel level are mounted above the center stack. The speedometer and tachometer do not work, and their needles are warped. The five-digit odometer shows 37k kilometers (~23k miles). The carbureted 3.5-liter V8 features dual camshafts per cylinder bank. Service performed in 2022 included rebuilds of the carburetors as well as the installation of a replacement timing belt, engine gaskets, accessory belts, a lower coolant hose, spark plugs, wires, and a distributor cap and rotor. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle. Replacement catalytic converters were installed in 2022 along with a replacement fuel pump and hoses. Corrosion is visible underneath. The Carfax report lists history in California and Maine since an initial entry in 1994. The car was designated a Gross Polluter by the state of California in 2022.
