This 1955 Chevrolet Corvette is the 244th of 700 produced for the model year, and it was refinished in Gypsy Red approximately 13 years ago. It is equipped with replacement ivory upholstery and a tan soft top, and it is powered by a 265ci V8 paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Work completed since 2022 has included re-trimming the interior, performing an ignition tune-up, installing a 12-volt generator, and replacing the radiator. The car features 15” steel wheels with faux knock-off spinners as well as a curved windshield, clip-on side curtains, wire mesh headlight guards, an AM radio, and a dash-mounted rear-view mirror. This C1 Corvette was acquired by the owner in 2023 and is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean California title. The car is said to have been refinished in Gypsy Red approximately 13 years ago, and the seller notes the body panels were adjusted and touched up in preparation for the sale. Equipment includes a tan convertible top, a curved windshield, wire mesh headlight guards, a chrome grille, a driver-side rearview mirror, directional signals, and clip-on side curtains with Plexi-glass windows as well as Chevrolet fender badging, a three-piece rear bumper, and dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance. The turn signals do not work. Red-finished 15” steel wheels feature polished covers with faux knock-off spinners and are mounted with reproduction BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. The C1 was equipped from the factory with an independent front suspension, front and rear hydraulic shocks, and a live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. The bucket seats are faired into the rear bodywork and are trimmed in ivory vinyl, and they are complemented by color-coordinated door panels. Interior appointments include a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, an AM radio, an analog clock, a heater, courtesy lights, lap belts, a floor-mounted shifter, and polished door sills. The carpeting and seat upholstery were replaced in 2023 along with the seat belts and several interior bezels. The two-spoke steering wheel was recently refinished and fronts a 140-mph speedometer. A central 5k-rpm tachometer is flanked by gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 2,200 miles, fewer than 100 miles of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The clock and temperature gauge were repaired in 2024. The horn is nonfunctional. The 265ci V8 was factory equipped with a Carter four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 195 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque when new. The spark plugs, distributor cap, and ignition rotor were replaced in 2022, a 12-volt generator and voltage regulator were installed in 2023, and the radiator and spark plug wires were replaced in 2024. 1955 Chevrolet Corvette 265 3-Speed The engine stamping pad is pictured. The GR suffix corresponds with a 265ci V8 with a four-barrel carburetor linked to a three-speed manual transmission. Additional casting numbers and serial numbers are pictured in the gallery below. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission, and the clutch was replaced in 2023. The dual exhaust system was replaced under prior ownership, and staining is visible on the mufflers from a rear-axle pinion leak.
