  • 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 1

This Jaguar E-Type, originally delivered to the United States as a 3.8-litre Roadster and first registered in 1963, has a fascinating history. In its early years, the car was converted to a 4.2-litre engine, but few details are known from that period. In 1983, the vehicle came from Colorado to Switzerland, where it found its first owner in Zermatt. After a decade, the car changed hands and was sold to an enthusiast in the canton of Geneva. He had extensive restoration work carried out, including a repaint and refurbishment of the interior, replacement of the exhaust system, and an overhaul of the clutch and the cylinder head, with the valves being readjusted as well. Towards the end of 2000, the Jaguar changed hands again and was acquired by the family that still owns it today. Dissatisfied with the previous owner's work, the new owner had body work carried out again, particularly on the underbody. He equipped the car with the current red interior and a new soft top fitted. Both the mechanics – including engine and gearbox – and the electrics, were thoroughly overhauled. The comprehensive maintenance and restoration history of the last 25 years is documented with invoices of almost CHF 100’000. Typically for Jaguar models of the period, the doors do not close very well and occasionally the starter gets stuck. These issues should be addressed by the future owner. The last Veteran MOT was completed in June 2020. 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1995-ferrari-f355-berlinetta

As Michele Alboreto stepped away from Formula 1 at the end of the 1994 season, the Milanese driver ended a 14-year career in the topflight, which included five seasons racing for Ferrari. In 1985, Alboreto had pushed for Ferrari’s first Drivers’ title since 1979, yet eventually settled for 2nd place in his stand-out season for the Scuderia. In life after F1 he raced for Schübel Engineering in the DTM and International Touring Car Championship, further to entries in IndyCar and the World Sportscar Championship—some of which from behind the wheel of a Ferrari, upholding his connection with the Maranello marque. On 8 August 1995, Alboreto took delivery of the Ferrari F355 Berlinetta offered here, which was supplied by Parisian dealer Charles Pozzi SA while the driver was living in Monaco. The sleek coupé was built in Nero Carbonio over a Beige leather interior—the colour combination it still shows today—while the Ferrari also retains its matching-numbers Tipo F129 engine. Accompanied by its Ferrari books and manuals, showing main dealer servicing on selected years, the F355 was most recently serviced by Scuderia Baldini in August 2024, and one month later the workshop fitted four Bridgestone Potenza tyres. Having been awarded Ferrari Classiche certification in December 2024, the car is offered with its “Red Book”. Offered with the provenance of a famous Ferrari F1 driver as its first owner, Scuderia fans should not miss the opportunity to bid on this Classiche-certified F355 Berlinetta. 1995 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1961-maserati-3500-gt-spyder-by-vignale

After years of fiscal loss and an inordinate budget poured into its racing program, Maserati was, by the late 1950s, in desperate need of an appealing production road car. Salvation appeared at the 1957 Geneva Salon in the form of the 3500 GT. Featuring a detuned version of the six-cylinder engine from the successful sports-racing 350S, the 3500 GT was initially equipped with 12-inch finned drum brakes and a Salisbury-type rear axle, marrying a powerful motor with a compliant and sporting chassis. Customer demand soon necessitated the formulation of an open-top version, and Maserati duly assigned a small number of chassis for design studies to Frua and Touring, the latter of which had already bodied the popular saloon. But ultimately the manufacturer approved a Giovanni Michelotti design built by the carrozzeria Vignale for a standard production model, which was officially introduced at the 1959 Turin Salon. Mounted on a shorter chassis for superior agility, the delectable Vignale Spyder was built in a modest quantity of just 242 examples through 1964. Later cars are particularly desirable for being equipped with front disc brakes and a ZF five-speed gearbox. A distinctively styled alternative to the open models at Maranello, and one offering equivalent performance, the 3500 GT Spyder reversed Modena’s flagging fortunes while signaling a fresh chapter in the company’s celebrated history. THE MASERATI IN THE TRAILER The centerpiece of a decades-long saga, this 1961 Maserati 3500 GT Spyder was pursued and saved from entombment—literally. The story begins in 1992, when the current owner of the Spyder befriended a local Italian car repair specialist in Colorado. Over the course of a conversation pertaining to their shared interest in Italian sports cars, the repairman mentioned he had owned a Vignale Spyder since the early 1980s, but its location and status remained undefined. Years later, in 2013, the Maserati was inquired about once again with the expressed interest to purely get a glimpse of this rare beauty. As it turned out, the car was interred within a semi-trailer buried under a pile of car parts at a storage facility outside of Denver. With some persuasion over the next year, a team was assembled to unearth the car. After cutting the locks to get into the trailer and several weekends of work to sort through the piles of parts, the Maserati was finally re-discovered with the preserved and largely corrosion-free body and chassis intact. Better yet, nearly all the car’s components were accounted for, including its original engine and body panels (which revealed matching-number stamps). Much of this process was photographed for posterity, and the images are truly a fascinating sight. Not too long after this discovery, an agreement was made, and the car was sold to the current owner who had pursued the car for all this time. In 2019, Classic Investments began the process of making the Spyder whole once again. A well-executed restoration, the car is now presented in Grigio Flemington over Marrone (brown) Connolly leather with Borrani wheels, front disc brakes, and a five-speed transmission. All together over 5,000 hours, and over a million dollars, were invested into the car during this immense project. Just 242 examples of the 3500 GT Spyder were built back in the 1960s, but few have as rich a history as the example on offer. Finally complete after over 35 years disassembled, stashed out of the public eye within a trailer, chassis AM101 1115 has been saved and restored to the benefit of all that appreciate one of the most beautiful cars from the 1960s. 1961 Maserati 3500 GT Spyder by Vignale RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1954 Ferrari Tipo 625 Monoposto

“CICCIO” ASCARI AND THE RISE OF FORMULA TWO 1952 and 1953 were watershed years for Scuderia Ferrari, notable not only for what the team was able to achieve, but also the surrounding circumstances. By the start of the 1952 season, the once-formidable Alfa Corse team had faded, and the British-based BRM remained the only credible challenge to an expected romp by Maranello. When BRM withdrew from competition early in the season, the FIA had little choice but to cancel Formula One altogether for the foreseeable future. Setting its sights on a new formula to commence in 1954, the FIA elevated Formula Two as the determining series for the World Drivers’ Championship for the years 1952 and 1953, making Formula Two the highest level of racing for those two years. Enzo Ferrari was well prepared for this eventuality, for by late 1951 Maranello was already testing a new naturally aspirated 2-liter inline-four-cylinder engine in monoposto form, with very promising results. Chief engineer Aurelio Lampredi had steadily advanced the concepts of simplicity and reliability, and his latest engine was a masterful study in these qualities, featuring a 65% reduction in moving parts and weighing 92.8 pounds less than the outgoing Colombo-designed Tipo 166 V-12. Featuring dry-sump lubrication, the new Tipo 500 engine was ignited by dual sparkplugs powered by twin magnetos and fed by two twin-choke Weber carburetors, combining to develop an impressive 170 horsepower—an improvement of 15 horsepower over the outgoing Tipo 166. In short, the inline-four was lighter, more reliable, and more powerful than its predecessor. The new 500 engine was mated to a four-speed transaxle and dropped into an equally simplified and reliable short-wheelbase chassis of 2,160 millimeters, equipped with independent double-wishbone front suspension, a De Dion rear axle, and capable drum brakes, all clothed in minimalist monoposto coachwork. Weighing a svelte 1,235 pounds, the new 500 F2 had a top speed of over 149 mph, making it a clear favorite among Formula Two competitors. The beloved Alberto “Ciccio” Ascari, one of the day’s most popular drivers, led a team consisting of Nino Farina, Piero Taruffi, and Luigi Villoresi, and during the next two years they established a dominance that has rarely been matched. During the 1952 and 1953 seasons the 500 F2 won an astounding 30 out of 33 races in which it participated, and Ascari became Ferrari’s first Drivers’ Champion—actually becoming a back-to-back Champion—while Farina and Taruffi finished 2nd and 3rd in Championship driver’s points in 1952. Maranello built six of these remarkable factory team cars during the model’s two-year reign, all stamped with three-digit numbers ranging from 001 to 006. Midway through the first season the company began offering privateer versions to preferred racing clients, and five such cars were built with standard even-numbered competition chassis numbers. Referred to as “starlet” cars in Italy, these privateer examples performed nearly as well as the factory cars, exemplified by Rudi Fischer’s 4th-place standing in 1952 Championship driver’s points. Within a couple years the factory had upgraded most of the 500 F2 examples with 2.5-liter engines, effectively rebranding them as 625 F1 monopostos, and these cars joined the new 553 Squalo in 1954 Formula One competition (only to be outclassed by the sensational Juan Manuel Fangio, who drove Maseratis and the revolutionary Mercedes-Benz W196 to the 1954 Drivers’ Championship). In addition to being the cornerstone of two of the Scuderia’s most successful years ever, the 500 F2/625 F1 examples were the forerunners of the inline-four-cylinder sports cars that performed so admirably during the mid-1950s, including the 500 Mondial, the 750 Monza, and the 500 and 625 TRC Spiders. CHASSIS NUMBER 0540 This incredibly rare early Formula One car began life as chassis number 0208F, the fourth of the five starlet 500 F2 examples. Purchased new by the future preferred client and Belgian marque distributor Jacques Swaters, the car was the first Ferrari ever raced by Ecurie Francorchamps. The 500 was campaigned in 17 events during 1952 and 1953, twice finishing as high as 2nd place (at the 1953 Helsinki Grand Prix and the 1953 GP Frontiers) and notching an impressive overall victory at the 1953 AVUS Grand Prix. For 1954, the Formula One championship had shifted back to F1 qualifications, and as a result most of the surviving 500 F2 cars were sent back to Ferrari and upgraded to 625 F1 specifications in order to participate in the various F1 events; such was the case for this car as part of its rebuild at Ferrari. Ecurie Francorchamps then ran the car at seven more races during 1954 before trading the car back to the factory for a 750 Monza. All of the surviving Scuderia Ferrari Works 500 F2 cars were re-numbered from their three-digit Works chassis numbers to four-digit even-numbered cars and resold to privateers in 1954 in 625 F1 specification. This car followed a similar path and, according to the research of Ferrari Historian Marcel Massini, after being renumbered as chassis number 0540, the 625 F1 was sold to the legendary Marquis Alfonso de Portago in early 1955. Portago campaigned 0540 in four Formula One events during 1955, at Turin, Pau, Bordeaux, and Silverstone, finishing as high as 8th place at the Pau Grand Prix in April. In late 1955 the Ferrari was purchased by the celebrated British engineer Donald Healey. Five years later he sold the 625 to fellow Briton Ian Sievewright, who campaigned the car once at the Shelsley Walsh national speed hillclimb in August 1964 before selling it in 1967 to the most prestigious Ferrari collection ever assembled, Pierre Bardinon’s Mas du Clos collection. After undergoing a partial restoration in the late 1960s, the car remained with Bardinon through the 1970s, and he sold the 625 in 1983 to Jacques Setton of Paris. Setton retained possession for 10 years before selling the car through Uwe Meissner’s Modena Motorsports to Pierre Fandel of Bitburg, Germany. Mr. Fandel then ran the Ferrari for three consecutive years (1994 through 1996) at the Meissner-Fandel meeting at the Nürburgring, the final year of which the car was piloted by former factory team driver Maurice Trintignant (who had won the 1955 Monaco Grand Prix in one of the sister cars). Acquired by Carlos Monteverde in the late 1990s, the 625 was sold in 1998 to David Vine of Plymouth, England, and he enjoyed the car at various vintage events including the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Goodwood Revival, the Monaco historic races, and Coy’s Historic Race Festival. In December 2000 the rare Ferrari was purchased by a collector based in Cologne, Germany, and he stewarded the car through 21 years of fastidious care, contributing to its current impressive state. In April 2022 the 625 was inspected by Ferrari Classiche, and the inspection report on file indicates that the car is stamped with the correct chassis and engine numbers, and that the gearbox is the correct type. It is rare enough to have an opportunity to purchase one of these extraordinary early Ferrari Formula One cars, and a car of this level of originality should be at the top of the most discerning collectors' lists. Representing one of the most dominant periods in Scuderia Ferrari history, including Ferrari’s first Drivers’ World Championship, and claiming important ownership provenance and racing use by Jacques Swaters’ Ecurie Francorchamps and the legendary Marquis de Portago, this extremely rare 625 F1 would make a fabulous addition to any collection. It is eligible for the some of the most exclusive vintage racing events worldwide, and can expect a warm welcome at premiere concours d’elegance. It invites admirers to indulge in its brilliant engineering mandate, fostered by the genius of Aurelio Lampredi, and employed to such overwhelming success by the luminary Alberto Ascari. 1954 Ferrari Tipo 625 Monoposto RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright “CICCIO” ASCARI AND THE RISE OF FORMULA TWO 1952 and 1953 were watershed years for Scuderia Ferrari, notable not only for what the team was able to achieve, but also the surrounding circumstances. • 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 4

The E-Type Jaguar debuted at the 1961 Geneva Motorshow as a replacement for the hugely successful Jaguar XK150. The new E-Type was nothing short of a revelation, with its heady blend of supercar performance, breath taking styling and low price tag, the newcomer left its rivals reeling and customers desperate to own one. Designed by William Lyons and Malcolm Sayer the “Series 1” was launched in 1961 in both fixed head coupe and roadster form with design inspiration taken from the Le-Mans winning D-Type sports racer. Built around a steel monocoque chassis with a front sub-frame to cradle the engine, all-round independent suspension using coil springs and dampers to the rear with torsion bars and wishbones to the front. Brakes were Dunlop discs all round, mounted inboard to the rear alongside the differential to reduce un-sprung weight. Powered by Jaguar’s XK series twin-cam straight six engine, this offered breath taking performance to rival both Ferrari and Aston Martin. The E-Type still remains one of the greatest car designs ever, with Enzo Ferrari famously describing it as “the most beautiful car in the world.” The Bespoke built, 1963 Jaguar E-Type Roadster 4.7 Litre Semi-Lightweight offered here at Autostorico was commissioned by a discerning British classic car collector who had always admired Eagle’s Spyder GT. He enlisted the talents of Adam Redding, a well-known classic car restorer, to build the ultimate, no expense spared, E-Type. The project began with a 1963 Series 1 Roadster which was totally dismantled before work began building it back up. The body alone took over 3,000 man-hours to complete. The lack of bumpers are the first element you notice but the re-sculpting goes way beyond that. The bespoke built, all-alloy, bonnet has been de-seamed and incorporates flared arches with a deep front valance and welded in louvers. Towards the rear of the car the handcrafted, muscular haunches give the E-Type a more purposeful stance. Whilst the flaring of the arches looks impressive it is also necessary to house the 6×16 Torrino alloy and chrome wire wheels with custom spinners. Finished in Rolls-Royce Midnight Blue with St James Red Conolly hide and Dark Blue Wilton carpets, the interior is every bit as sumptuous as one might expect including many hidden luxuries such as: heated seats, air-conditioning, DAB radio and Bluetooth phone system whilst still retaining period instruments and a Moto Lita steering wheel. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright The E-Type Jaguar debuted at the 1961 Geneva Motorshow as a replacement for the hugely successful Jaguar XK150. Mechanically the car is built for fast road use, with its engine bored out to 4.7 litre specification with large up-rated valves, upgraded water pump, timing chains, forged con-rods, custom flywheel, large bore oil pump, forged pistons, electronic fuel injection, hand polished cam box covers, braised cooling pipes, uprated race cooling system including large cooling fan, aluminium lightweight radiator and header tank, complete stainless steel exhaust system including manifold, electronic ignition, high output starter motor, 4-pot AF Racing brake callipers with large ventilated brake discs, Koni adjustable shock absorbers, modern electric fuel pump, silicone hoses, halogen headlights, modern alternator with V-belt with aluminium pulley upgrades, up-rated power steering mounts, up-rated torsion bars with adjustable height conversion, up-rated anti roll bar drop links and bushes, high power brake servo with polished stainless steel heat shield and up-rated rear suspension mounts plus anti roll bar links & bushings. • 1966 Porsche 911 R

This beautiful and uncompromising Porsche 911 R has been perfectly rebuilt to R specifications on an original 1966 911 S chassis without any ifs or buts. The engine has been recently rebuilt to the highest standard by very well known Swiss Porsche specialists. Likewise, the transmission was completely revised / rebuilt. The car offers a sensational power-to-weight ratio with a curb weight of only 800 kgs and a measured 238 hp. The 911 R offered here was delivered by AMAG, Xavier Perrot, has FiA papers, a FIVA Identity Card and is veteran-approved. The period correct seats (see photo) are of course included with the car. The 1967 Porsche 911 R was the lightest 911 of all time and laid the foundation for its sporting success. The Porsche 911 made its racing debut shortly after the start of production in 1965 at the Monte Carlo Rally. With an even faster sports version of the 160 hp Porsche 911 S, a class victory was achieved at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 and the European Rally Championship was won. Thus, the development of new, even more powerful racing versions was a high priority. The focus was on reducing the weight of the 911 S. The hood, doors and fenders were replaced by fiberglass, the windows by Plexiglas. The underbody and many other metal parts were simply pierced with holes. The cockpit was also reduced to the bare minimum and the sound insulation removed. The diet had truly paid off: Instead of the approximately 1,030 kg of a standard Porsche 911 S, the lightweight 911 weighed in at only 800 kg! To this day, the Porsche 911 R is considered the lightest 911 of all time. For faster cornering speeds, the lightweight 911 was fitted with thicker tires and a wider rear end. The engine chosen was the 210 hp Type 901/22 aluminum six-cylinder, which was also used in a similar form in the Porsche 906 and 910 race cars. Experiments were also conducted with the 230-hp, even higher-revving Type 916 racing engine. One of the first racing drivers to try out the new Porsche 911 R was Huschke von Hanstein. The Mille Miglia and Targa Florio winner was thrilled and pushed for homologation for GT racing. But the sales department in Zuffenhausen was less optimistic: they didn’t have the confidence to sell the 500 units needed for homologation. So production of the series model at the Stuttgart company Baur was discontinued after only 19 examples. Just how great the potential of a purist racing 911 really was was demonstrated in October 1967. Jo Siffert and his Swiss teammates had traveled to Monza together to break the high-speed world records set by Ford and Toyota. But their Porsche 906 was not suited to the bumpy Italian track; shortly after the start, the suspension went. A Porsche 911 R from the Baur small series was used as a replacement car. In fact, the Swiss set five new endurance world records with the racing 911 – including the distance of 20,000 kilometers. However, this was not quite the end of the Porsche 911 R’s history: When the Tour de France Automobile was opened up to prototypes in 1969, Gérard Larrousse started with the lightweight 911-and won. He also triumphed in the Tour de Corse shortly afterwards with the same car. 1966 Porsche 911 R Lutziger Classic Cars AG If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
