  • 1960 Maserati 3500 GT

The Maserati 3500 GT was a milestone for the Italian marque in 1957. Having officially withdrawn from motorsport, the marque’s full attention was turned towards the production of Gran Turismo automobiles. To usher Maserati into this new era of GT cars, they leaned on the Milanese coachbuilding firm Carrozzeria Touring, who utilized their Superleggera patented aluminum panels wrapped over a thin, tubular steel frame that formed the achingly beautiful body lines of the all-new 3500 GT. Powering this stunning new offering from Maserati was a straight-6 engine borrowed from their 1956 350S endurance racer, with 3.5L of displacement and triple Weber carburetors the low end torque was remarkable. Over an 8 year production run, 2,226 3500 GT’s would leave the Maserati facility and go on to achieve great commercial success as one of Maserati's most celebrated postwar GT models, ultimately establishing Maserati as one of the world’s most exclusive high-performance automotive marques. The Cultivated Collector’s 1960 Maserati 3500 GT, chassis 708, is a true time capsule and one of unbroken provenance. Presenting today in highly original condition with gorgeous patina, 708 benefits greatly from long time single family ownership of 55 years, and tells a remarkable story. On November 14th, 1959, Stanley W Good Jr., a San Francisco based Maserati super-enthusiast, made his maiden voyage to the Maserati factory to order a new 3500 GT, thus signaling the birth of 708. Mr. Good ordered 708 with 3 options from the factory: seat belts, bumper overrides and Smiths instruments in MPH (Jaeger speedometer built under license by Smiths in the UK). Originally set on the color "Grigio Fumo," Mr. Good had a change of heart 2 days after leaving the factory and wrote a letter requesting the car to instead be finished in “Grigio Nembo”. Mr. Good would retain ownership of 708 for a short period of time before selling the car to Dr. Portalui of Arcata, CA. In April of 1962, Dr. Portalui’s wife sells the car to Mr. Mitchel L. Mitchell of San Francisco with 3,000 miles on the odometer. Unbeknownst to Mrs. Portalui, this sale would mark the beginning of a 55 year long single family stewardship for 708. Mr. Mitchell, an extremely prominent San Francisco businessman and socialite, immediately had 708 serviced in February of 1963. He continued to enthusiastically maintain highly detailed records on the car’s maintenance throughout ownership until 36,650 miles, where the car was then parked in the carriage house at his magnificent Renaissance-styled estate, 2901 Broadway, in May of 1978. 708 would remain dormant for close to 10 years until Mr. Mitchell’s passing in 1987. Under Mr. Mitchell’s ownership, the car was consistently and thoroughly serviced every ~2k miles. Upon Mr. Mitchell’s passing, 708 was given to Mr. Mitchell’s daughter Gladyne, a highly prominent San Francisco socialite of the first order, where 708 would remain in the carriage house until 1997. In 1997, Gladyne requested her nephew, Tony Mitchell the grandson of Mr. Mitchell L. Mitchell, assist with stewardship of 708 by storing the car in Napa Valley at his winery. Over the next 13 years, Tony Mitchell would periodically start and drive 708, with it making occasional appearances at the Concorso Italiano at the Quail Lodge in the early 2000’s when Mr. and Mrs. Francis G. Mandarano curated and managed the show. In September of 2010 Gladyne requested that Tony assist in preparing the car for sale, where 708 was then subsequently sold in October 2010 to noted Maserati collectors Mr. & Mrs. Francis G. Mandarano of Mercer Island, WA showing just 36,950 miles on the odometer. 708 would be immediately brought to RMB Motorcars of Stockton, CA for servicing under Mr. & Mrs. Mandarano’s watchful ownership. In July of 2012, Mr. and Mrs. Mandarano would take 708 on the 1,000 mile Northwest Classic Rally, where the car would go on to perform flawlessly and efficiently throughout the course of the event. The following year, in July of 2013, 708 was accepted and shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the esteemed Preservation Class and also participated in the Pebble Beach Road Tour. Mr. and Mrs. Mandarano would lovingly enjoy 708 for a duration of 8 years until it was acquired by an esteemed collector based in New York in 2022. The most recent owner would take great care of 708 during his time of stewardship, ensuring consistent servicing and frequent drives, adding ~5k miles to the odometer where it now sits at 46,230 miles from new. Believed to be one of just 4 cars to leave the Maserati factory in Grigio Nimbo, 708 is still adorned in its original paint, leather, carpets, body, and matching numbers drivetrain. 708 is recently serviced and is being sold with complete documented history from new, the original spare tire, original factory tool kit and jack, as well as original factory manuals. Standing as a time capsule, 708 represents arguably the most original 3500 GT extant, with the best history to be offered today. 1960 Maserati 3500 GT The Cultivated Collector LLC If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS

Now regarded as a true design classic and ultimate 170 mph-sportscar of the day; a UK example, with just 52,000 miles, only two former keepers and an impressive maintenance record. Debuted at the 1985 Frankfurt Auto Show, the Ferrari 328 was the second model in Ferrari's long and popular line of mid-engine V8 sports cars, continuing through to the present day 488 GTB. The 328 was the replacement for the popular 308, and featured notable performance and design advancements over the outgoing model. Under the engine cover is the same transversely-mounted, fuel-injected V8 from the Ferrari 308 Quattrovalvole, with an increase in displacement. By increasing both bore and stroke, the 'quattrovalvole's capacity was raised to 3,186cc which, together with a higher compression ratio, revised pistons, and an improved Marelli engine management system, lifted maximum power to 270bhp at 7,000rpm. Top speed was raised to within a whisker of 160mph (258km/h) and 60mph arrived from a standing start in 5.5 seconds. A significant difference from the 308 is the use of galvanized steel, which greatly reduces potential rust problems compared to its forebear, however beneath the skin, the tubular steel chassis remained much as before, with all-round independent suspension by double wishbones, four-wheel servo-assisted disc brakes, and aluminium-alloy wheels, though the latter were increased in size. The interior too had come in for some subtle revision and now featured improved instruments, switchgear, and heating. The iconic Leonardo Fioravanti-designed body was updated for a smoother, more contemporary appearance with integrated bumpers and revised cooling ducts, resulting in a more cohesive and streamlined profile. Pininfarina built two variants of this mid-engine sportscar, the Gran Turismo Berlinetta Coupe and the Gran Turismo Spider, featuring a removable Targa top. The GTS offered an exhilarating open-air driving experience and afforded the driver and their fortunate passenger unbridled access to the unmistakable sound of the dry-sump Ferrari V8. In the short four year run of the 328, 6,068 examples were produced, a great success which, combined with the success and popularity of the 308, ensured the position of the mid-engine V8 in Ferrari's permanent stable. The car presented here is a UK-market, 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS which left Ferrari's Maranello factory finished in the classic combination of Rosso Corsa with contrasting Tan leather, specified with A/C. It was originally delivered new via HR Owen of Kensington to its first owner. As often happened at the time, at the end of 1991, it followed its owner to Hong Kong. It was subsequently enjoyed there by a further three expatriate owners, who, as you’d expect, lavished great care of it, covering some 40,000 miles by June 1998. In May 1999, it returned to the UK and by 2007 it had still only covered 43,000 miles. Our vendor purchased the car nearly 10 years ago (and regales the story of the seller being nearly in tears as it was driven away) and has only driven it sparingly, and just in dry weather. The service history shows it has benefited from 10x cambelt changes over its conservative 51,500 miles and is accompanied by a 3-inch folder of receipts and MOT certificates, plus its complete book-pack (with service booklet/manuals). It is currently fitted with 308 wheels and tyres, but will come to auction with the correct and fully refurbished 1986 Cromadora 'Star' alloy wheels with new tyres. In today’s collector market, very few cars offer the same stylish road presence, relatively modern driving experience and performance of the 328 and with the ability to pop the top off and listen to that glorious V8 howl, these have become very desirable classic Ferraris. 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Marcello Gandini maximized the lines of the popular French utility vehicle by widening the hips excessively, necessary to accommodate the engine and transmission, which were now located behind the -only- front seats. Thus, the link between street and competition was born. The Renault 5 Turbo was born. The new Dieppe creation soon proved its worth in the world of rallying, winning the Monte-Carlo Rally that same year and twice winning the Tour de Corse, with a certain Jean Ragnotti at the wheel, beating the Audi Quattro, Lancia 037 and Porsche 911 with his spectacular driving skills. The unit we are offering today is a Renault 5 Turbo 2, the evolution of the Renault 5 Turbo. Its engine, a 1.4-litre four-cylinder Cévennes, develops 250 hp, thanks to a ball-bearing turbo and an improved camshaft. It also has a high-flow fuel pump. All this display of power is topped off with a 4 to 1 exhaust manifold configuration. Power is transmitted to the rear axle via a short-throw gearbox with self-locking, and a height- and hardness-adjustable coilover suspension is responsible for keeping it glued to the asphalt. Its body is painted in the same colours and decoration as the model that competed in the 1983 Monte Carlo Rally, and it has the front bumper of the Tour de Corse version installed with a Super Oscar Rally lighting kit. The wheels, Speedline Corse, with a spectacular rear groove, hide AP Racing 4-piston steel disc brakes. The brake force distributor and the double brake pump are from the same firm. It also has a hydraulic handbrake Inside, a Renault 5 Turbo 1, we are greeted by an Iso Delta racing steering wheel and two firm Mod Plastia bucket seats, on which rest Sabelt 4-point harnesses attached to Renault Sport 6-point roll bars 1983 Renault 5 Turbo 2 Auto Storica If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1969-jaguar-e-type-42-ots

Some sports cars made an impression once. Others continue to do so. The E-Type belongs to that rare class that transcends nostalgia. This particular Series 2 OTS was built on New Year’s Eve, 1968, and delivered to British Leyland in New York on February 11, 1969. Originally finished in Sable with a Cinnamon interior and black soft top, it still retains its original chassis number 1R8118 and matching engine number 7R 1909-9 — fully documented with the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. In 1998, the car was imported to the Netherlands and placed in a private collection, where it remained as a static museum piece for many years. In 2017, a comprehensive technical and cosmetic restoration began — and it was nothing short of remarkable. Everything that needed attention received it — and more. The engine was fully disassembled, rebuilt, and overhauled by a Jaguar specialist. The cylinder head was converted to run on unleaded fuel. The gearbox was professionally rebuilt, the drivetrain renewed and optimized, and the intake system, carburetors, ignition, and cooling were all fully addressed. Where possible, original parts were preserved; where desirable, technical improvements were made — including a stainless-steel exhaust, Spax shock absorbers, modern radiator with electric fans, and an electronic Revoltec fan controller. The bodywork received equal attention. Around 2000, the car was repainted in the iconic Primrose Yellow. Recently, paint and panels were partially corrected again. The soft top was reupholstered in high-quality mohair, including a matching top cover. The interior features elegant black leather. Seats were re-padded and re-trimmed, the dashboard was fully disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt using original or new components. The radio was replaced with a period-correct unit, and even the luggage area was retrimmed. Electrics were fully rewired, tested, and made functional. All lighting, inside and out, was either replaced or restored, including a set of new H4 headlights. The battery, cables, and wiper motor were all refurbished or renewed. As a finishing touch, this E-Type received several tasteful upgrades: wide chrome wire wheels with Cooper whitewall tires, chrome spinners, a chrome luggage rack, and even an electric antenna — controlled from a button on the dash. The restoration is thoroughly documented with a photo album and a thick stack of invoices and parts lists. Virtually every wear-and-tear item has been restored or replaced. Everything fits. Everything works. Everything shines. This E-Type is not just road-ready — it’s ready for its next chapter. Whether that’s a concours lawn, a coastal road in the sun, or a discerning collector’s garage — it will get there with flair, finesse, and that irresistible touch of British refinement. 1969 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 OTS Cool Classic Club If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1959 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce (Passo Corto) 750F

Alfa Romeo's Giulietta Spider was among the many fruitful ideas of Max Hoffman, the astute and influential importer whose keen understanding of the American market birthed legends like the Porsche 356 Speedster, Mercedes-Benz 300SL, BMW 507, and introduced the Volkswagen Beetle to the USA. Hoffman counted Alfa Romeo in his portfolio and he persuaded the firm to offer a new two-seat Spider variant of the superb new mid-sized Giulietta, explicitly geared for American tastes with a new Pininfarina-penned body. His instincts proved correct, and the Giulietta, particularly in high-performance Veloce specification, spawned multiple generations of beloved open-topped Alfas. It was powered by a 65bhp,1290cc four-cylinder fuelled by a single Solex carburettor and featured two chain-driven overhead. The Spider was rear-wheel drive with drum brakes on all four wheels and the front suspension was independent with deformable wishbones, coil springs, hydraulic telescopic dampers and an anti-roll bar. The rear suspension was a traditional rigid axle, guided by longitudinal arms and reaction triangle, again with coil springs and hydraulic telescopic dampers. In 1956, they produced the so-called "first series" (series '750 D in the "normal" version and '750 F' in the 'Veloce') and in late 1958, the ‘second series’ was introduced with a number of changes including a lengthened wheelbase, however, nowadays the Giulietta Spider 'Passo Corto' (short door) models are the most desired and sought-after amongst collectors. On offer here is an absolutely stunning 'first-series' Giulietta Spider Veloce (750F) that, according to its 'Certifcato do Origine', was produced on the 31st July 1958 and was destined for the US market (New York). Its current, UK-based owner is a true classic car connoisseur with decades worth of owning and collecting experience and he was attracted to this particular car as it was a 'short-door', finished in his favourite colour (Mouse Grey), and was owned by the knowledgeable and much-respected, Jim Sullivan, Chairman of the Pacific North West Alfa Club. After his purchase in 2015, our vendor commissioned Vintage Racing Motors (VRM) to carry out a full restoration which they did over a period of time. The whole process was photo documented and the car is unquestionably finished to a higher standard than when it left the factory. The appropriate invoices remain in the file and total around $130,000, meaning that our vendor's investment in this remarkable little Giulietta amounts to over $200,000. In the interest of pure driving pleasure, a period-correct, 5-speed gearbox was fitted at the time, however, the original 'tunnel' gearbox is included with the car and available to inspect at our auction. Once the work was finished, the Alfa was sent here to the UK, registered in 2021 and has been enjoyed immensely. It will be serviced by marque specialist Chris Robinson prior to the sale. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a rare Alfa Romeo that has been restored to an extraordinary standard and we encourage interested parties to come and see the car at Silverstone, it will not disappoint. 1959 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce (Passo Corto) 750F Iconic Auctioneers Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1969 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750

General History Enjoying increased success in the new line of GT cars that evolved in the early 60s, Alfa Romeo released the first series 105/115 series coupes in 1963. Spanning a prolific 14 years in production, the model run remained largely unchanged due in part to the remarkably clean and sporting Giugiaro penned body design. As iterations unfolded, a range of engines evolved leading up to the SPICA fuel-injected 1750 GTV (Veloce) which was offered for US delivery examples. The potent 1,779cc engine was a fantastic pairing for the 5-speed manual gearbox which, along with revised suspension geometry and an anti-roll bar fitted to the rear suspension, made for great road manners. Larger front disc brakes and calipers were also installed. These notable improvements made for a better handling car overall but also invited spirited highway driving making the GTV a more refined and versatile GT car as it entered the new decade. General Overview This example was purchased by the current and consigning owner in 2013. Service records accompanying the car date back to 1992 when the car was located in San Rafael, CA. According to information from the prior owner, the car had been in California for several years prior to the early 1990s. A 1992 service record includes an engine overhaul and clutch replacement, performed at 132,197 miles, along with front and rear brake work that same year. Service invoices continue through the 1990s and 2000s under the same ownership until it was purchased by the current owner in 2013. The car has been in the collection of a known Northern California Alfa Romeo collector and enthusiast for the past eleven years where it has been serviced regularly as part of their enjoyable use for various events and vintage car tours including the Motherlode 400 (six times) and the California Melee. Under current ownership service invoices outline regular oil and filter changes, fluid flushes, and general services were performed including the front seats professionally reupholstered by Franzini Bros. Inc. (2013) and in 2014 a new brake booster, driveline flex joint and 2 U-joints installed, front end suspension rebuilt, rear trailing arms rebuilt, new fuel lines installed, radiator re-core, new muffler and exhaust hangers installed, and valves adjusted. In 2016 new brake boosters and brake booster hoses were installed, new cone bushings in 2017, and in 2021 new transmission, motor mounts, and new shocks were installed, and all fluids flushed and filled. General Condition Today this Alfa Romeo offers handsome cosmetics including older fine flake paint that has been well maintained showing good gloss and consistent cosmetic finish. Minor door edge chips are evident, a few minor dings in the rear bumper, minor rock chips in a few areas, but otherwise, the exterior finish is ideal for enjoyable driving and local shows. The trim is in very good condition overall including the grille, which is very nice and properly fitted along with the headlights and front fascia trim. The lenses, lighting, bumpers, and various trim and script are in very good condition contributing to the overall cohesive visual presentation. The panel gaps are consistent showing good closures and tight fit, even for both doors which show good part lines. The floating hood, often lacking proper fit, sits flush and latches correctly. The glass is in very good condition with brand etching that appears consistent with original factory installation for the side, rear, and vent glass. Outfitted with later series Cromodora wheels, car wears a set of Vredestein 165/HR14 Sprint Classic tires with ample tread remaining. The interior features nicely finished black bucket seats which have been previously recovered and have a high-quality look and feel to the material and pleating as well as the correct woven center material matching the rear seat area. The overall interior presents very well with most of the interior surfaces appearing in very good condition, reflecting a satisfying blend of refinished items and original features. The door panels, various chrome trim, and side panels have a very high-quality feel to the finishes, and the carpeting appears to be more recently replaced, here too with high quality and correct type materials. The dashboard is quite nice, featuring clean and nicely detailed instruments with excellent color and contrast and smooth wood-toned inserts for the dash and center console. The black dash padding is in very good condition fronted by a sporty black padded Alfa Romeo branded steering wheel. A Nakamichi stereo with CD player is installed in the dash along with door speakers and matching black grilles. The trunk is clean and well-maintained. Under the trunk matting, a full-sized stamped steel spare tire is in place. Under the hood, the engine bay delivers a correct presentation reflective of original specifications. Though not detailed for show presentation, the engine appears largely correct in componentry and detail with a proper SPICA airbox, stain black cam cover, and various details consistent with Alfa Romeo manufacturing during this period. Overall, the engine compartment displays finishes that are typical of cars that have been driven and enjoyed, regularly serviced but not prepared for show. The undercarriage is representative of an unrestored example. Selected metal suspension components and chassis floor pans display typical surface aging as often found on unrestored cars, none of which offers any indication of structural compromise or damage to the chassis floor. The car is fitted with new shock absorbers, a correct-type exhaust system, and a handful of various newer soft lines. Correct aluminum casting pans and transmission casings, and other correct parts and components for this series car finish off the chassis. The car starts, stops, runs, and drives very capably as evidenced in the driving video accompanying the photos in the gallery. The gearbox operates properly, the clutch takes up nicely, and the brakes bring the car down smoothly and evenly on a firm pedal. Acceleration is progressive from the SPICA outfitted engine offering a balanced feel especially notable in the improved suspension offered in these later series cars. 1969 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 Fantasy Junction If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
