- 1987 Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione
Bridging the gap between Ferraris 288 GTO and the F40, the 288 GTO Evoluzione is a seldom seen and highly significant part of Ferrari’s history. In the mid-1980s, Group B in particular was taking the world by storm, even competing with Formula 1 in terms of global popularity. Numerous manufacturers took part in the World Rally Championship including Audi, Lancia, and Peugeot, with Ferrari keen to enter the fray, but Group B sports car racing continued to be dominated by BMW’s M1. Following input and authorization from Enzo Ferrari, an application was submitted by Ferrari SpA via the Automobile Club Italia for Group B homologation of the 288 GTO. The criteria for acceptance was that the manufacturer was required to produce a minimum of 200 variants of the subject vehicle. On June 1, 1985, having cranked the Factory assembly lines at full speed to complete the required amount of road production cars, the FIA formally approved Ferrari’s application. As an annex to the model homologation, the FIA allowed manufacturers to build a minimum number of 20 Evolution models (per year if required) and this primarily allowed for additional scope and improvement in respect of aerodynamic and engine displacement enhancements. Construction was already under way on several of the competition versions that were quite some departure from the ‘standard’ 288 GTO. Predictably named the Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione, sadly their development was never fated to see Group B competition as the entire formula was annulled from top line motorsport in 1986 following a sequence of unfortunate accidents during that season. By early 1987 only five of these ultimate competition versions of the iconic supercar had been built and further production ceased. Taking the concept one step further, the 288 GTO Evoluzione became even more race-focused with the help of Michelotto, and the 288 GTO Evoluzione was reputably intended to be used for tarmac events within Group B in the hands of privateers. It’s fair to say it may have been several steps too far for rallying however an on-track showdown against the magnificent Porsche 961 at Le Mans was sadly not to be. Pininfarina reworked the cars bodywork using Kevlar and fiberglass to reduce weight as much as possible, and the car’s rear wing was made of carbon fibre. Fitted with larger turbos and further refined engine tuning, the car’s Tipo F114 CK engine produced a monstrous 650 bhp, an increase of over 60% from the road car’s 400 bhp. Tipping the scales at just 940 kg, performance was truly astounding with top straight-line speed published to be 229.9 mph. The 288 GTO Evoluzione has a power to weight ratio of 1.61 Kg which would out perform any rival in this period. While this incredible car never saw competition, the 288 GTO Evoluzione proved pivotal as a test bed for developing the F40, Ferrari’s next in line, and arguably most visually iconic, in their supercar series. Place the two side by side and the resemblance is instantly apparent and is more than just skin deep. Chassis number 79888 is the fourth of five remaining 288 GTO Evoluzione’s built. Production on the car took place in Maranello with assistance from Michelotto in Padova, and the car was officially completed in 1988. In December of 1988 the car was sold through Jacques Swaters’ legendary Garage Francorchamps of Belgium to the renowned Belgian racing driver and businessman Jean Blaton. By day a wealthy Belgian industrialist who often raced under the pseudonym “Beurlys”, Blaton quickly stuck up a friendship with Jacques Swaters and drove with the Belgian national team Ecurie Francorchamps through the 1950s, 60s and 70s. He raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans a whopping fifteen different times, eleven of which were behind the wheel of a Ferrari. He finished on the podium in nearly every outing and raced a magnificent array of Ferraris from that era, including a 250 Testa Rossa, 250 LM, 250 GTO, and a 330 P4. It only made sense that a 288 GTO Evoluzione found its way to one of Ferrari’s most favored privateer racers. By 1992, chassis number 79888 had returned to the ownership of Garage Francorchamps and Jacques Swaters, and remained with him until 2006. At this time, the car was sold to a private collector in the UK. The following year the car was sold to the Quebec based billionaire Lawrence Stroll, a noted Ferrari collector who was at that time in the process of assembling one of the most significant Ferrari collections on the planet. Remaining in Stroll’s collection for six years, the car was sold to Rick White of California in April of 2013. The following year, the car was sold to David SK Lee of Los Angeles before being acquired by David Raisbeck in late 2014, and the car titled for road use in his name in the state of Minnesota. In his ownership, the car was shown at the 2015 Cavallino Classic where it won a Platinum award and the Supercar Cup. The next year, the car was shown at the Ferrari Club of America Annual Meet in Columbus, Ohio, as well as at the special U.S. edition of the Finali Mondiali at Daytona. This special car passed to its current European custodian in 2019 where it has been carefully cared for since his acquisition. Most recently, chassis number 79888 was sent to Michelotto in Padova for a variety of cosmetic and mechanical work, including a full service. Numerous perishable parts were replaced including the fuel lines, oil lines, brake fuel lines, and driveshaft boots. The suspension dampers and brake calipers were overhauled, along with the water pump and both turbos. New tyres were fitted and all four wheels were overhauled. The original gearbox was also overhauled so all internal seals and the clutch shaft could be replaced. Cosmetically, the car was fully repainted in the original Rosso Corsa, and the dashboard covers, seat covers, seat belts, door windows, and rear-view mirror glass was all replaced. In the engine bay, the intake system and heat exchanger were polished, whilst the cylinder head covers were repainted. All work carried out on the car by Michelotto totaled to over €133,000, leaving the car in excellent mechanical condition both inside and out. This work was begun with an open checkbook in mind and no stone to be left unturned and the car proved to be in outstanding overall condition to begin with, attesting to the car’s quality and provenance. Today, the car is fully prepared to be used and enjoyed should its next owner seek to enjoy the thrills of one of Ferrari’s rarest and most exciting cars on the track. A fascinating case of the final Enzo Ferrari-directed GT race car and the first racing version in Ferrari’s legendary supercar series, the 288 GTO Evoluzione remains today as one of the rarest and most sought-after competition Ferraris ever built. Seldom seen in public and with many hidden away in long term collections, the opportunity to acquire one is even rarer than getting the chance to see one at a concours event or in a museum. Undoubtedly the most radical Ferrari of the 1980s, the opportunity to acquire this sensational car is a must for any supercar or race car focused Ferrari collection. 1987 Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1973 Porsche 911 1
The world premiere of the Porsche Carrera RS took place at the Salon Paris in October 1972. Originally it was planned to produce only a limited quantity of 500 examples, but even before the Porsche RS was presented to the press, the whole edition was completely sold out. This Porsche 911 2.7 RS was delivered to the Gentlemen Racer Pierre Lelong by the Porsche dealer Sonauto in France in January 1973. From 1973 to 1986, the first owner took part in the “Tour de France” a total of 14 times with this car. The owner history, racing history and total mileage are sensationally documented. The original purchase order with the new car invoice and the maintenance passport are still available. This unique Porsche RS also impresses with its largely untouched bodywork condition with a total mileage of just 58,330 km. The transmission (engine and gearbox) was completely overhauled in the course of a careful partial restoration by engine specialist Manfred Rugen. A dyno sheet, Porsche certificate and a German historic registration are available. The vehicle was inspected by a renowned Porsche RS specialist, including a number check. 1973 Porsche 911 Thiesen Hamburg GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1973 Porsche 913
There are some cars that leave you breathless as soon as they are unveiled before your amazed eyes. The Porsche 911 is one of them, but in more than 50 years of existence, there are rare variants that have turned and still turn heads more than others. Among them, we can consider the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 and the more muscular RSR 2.8, a sacred monster of motor racing as aesthetic as it is powerful. Fans of the genre will also fondly remember the psychedelic liveries they were dressed in during competition in the 1970s. In 1973, one year after the introduction of the 911 Carrera RS 2.7, Porsche unveiled the 911 Carrera RSR 2.8, the first to carry the RSR badge. The 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 was a competition car and won several prestigious races in 1973... At Porsche, the 911 allows the brand to create a myth and forget the 356 of the early days, the car for customers looking for a sports car can also be used for racing, Porsche making "competition-customer cars" as the 911 R, T/R and other 911 ST. In 1972, the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 allows Porsche to homologate a new version to counter the BMW 3.0 CS and other Ford Capri running in Group 3, the civil version meeting an important success with more than 1,500 units sold, the car is also homologated for Group 4 As Group 4 is more permissive and allows some modifications, the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 is the basis for a new car for competition, the 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 (RSR for RennSport Racing), which was presented in 1973. In detail, the RSR received wider fenders, wider rims of 9 inches at the front and 11 inches at the rear, an oil cooler was mounted behind the front bumper, the suspension received larger torsion bars. On the body side, the car features the famous spoiler of the Carrera RS 2.7. The RSR is also lightened to the maximum with the use of composite materials for the body, Plexiglas for the glass. In the end, the car weighs only 840kg. On the engine side, the Carrera RSR 2.8 receives an evolution of the engine of the Carrera RS 2.7, whose displacement is increased to 2,808cm3 for a power of 309 hp. In detail, this engine receives a mechanical injection Bosch, dual ignition, and the engine is even lighter than that of the Carrera RS 2.7. It also hosts a five-speed transaxle, specially designed for the car. For the braking, Porsche engineers made a system using components from the 917. The 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 makes a stunning entry into motorsport by winning the 24 hours of Daytona 1973, against Ferrari, Matra and Mirage-Ford. The 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 went on to win numerous other races during the 1973 season, including the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Targa Florio, winning six of the nine races in the European GT Championship. As a competition car, the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 received numerous upgrades during the 1973 season. Sold mainly to racing teams that could afford to pay 25,000 Deutschmarks (the price of a Carrera RS 2.7 and a basic 911), only 49 examples of the 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 were produced, which enabled the owner teams to perform well in the rankings for years. For the 1974 season, Porsche still evolves its car in 911 Carrera RSR 3.0, before the arrival of the 934 turbocharged ... Our Porsche 911 2.8L RSR was built on the basis of a 1973 911 2.4L E, between 2011 and 2014, on commission from its current owner. Construction and tuning were initially entrusted to the RS Autosport garage in Chalonvillars, then in 2014, when the garage closed, the car was taken over by Nicolas Suarez (ex-Renault F1 engine builder), who took charge of preparation with the technical support of Crubilé Sport. The car took part in a number of rallies between 2016 and 2019 with some very good results, as can be seen below. But none of this happened by chance... Let's go back some 50 years... the story begins in 1975 when the current owner, as part of the 'Premier Pas Dunlop' and the 'Coupe Renault Elf Gordini', made his first appearance in the small world of motor racing... He won the Cup in 1978, after some epic battles in which his quality as a driver and his tenacity were revealed to the general public. The years 79 and 80 saw him at the wheel of Formule Renault cars with the Elf and Motul teams, then in 1982 he took part in the French Production Car Championship with the Garage du Bac team. Despite a long break devoted to an intense professional activity, the motor racing virus was never cured. Many years later, he returned to his first love through historic racing... 20 years of racing at the highest level followed, with numerous podium finishes including several scratch victories in the Tour Auto... You will understand that our man is talented, passionate, and driven by a single goal: victory. This will be reflected in all the cars he will have built to pursue his Historic driver career. A meticulous quest for performance and perfection in compliance with the regulations of the period. Our car took part in many rallies between 2016 and 2019 with very good results: 2017 VHC RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP OF FRANCE Mont Blanc Rally: 4th Rallye du Var: 3rd Tour de Corse Historique: 4th 2018 FRENCH VHC RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP Antibes Rally: 3rd Mont Blanc Rally: 2nd Rallye du Var: 3rd French Rally Champion in GR4 2019 FRENCH RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP VHC Le Touquet Rally: 3rd Mont Blanc Rally: Winner Unfortunately, the 2019 season ended with the car running off the road at the Tour de Corse Historique... at low speed... the vagaries of rallying... The damage could only be assessed once the car had been completely dismantled. Nicolas Suarez began what was to be a thorough and meticulous rebuild. Once the hull was bare, it was taken to Matter France, where it was found that the central cell with the roll cage had not moved. It was therefore decided to repair the hull. Once again, the owner chose to strip the hull completely and then entrust it to his coachbuilder, where the hull was completely overhauled: set on marble, reinforcement of all the anchoring points (front undercarriage, rocker panels, etc.), the right-hand front wheel arch was replaced, as was the front face. The front wings are replaced, and the wing extensions are welded. The rear wings are unsoldered and replaced by new ones to which the wing extensions are welded. Once the assembly is complete, the hull will be shot-blasted and treated with cataphoresis. Nothing is left to chance! During the four months of bodywork, Nicolas Suarez overhauled the engine and Crubilé Sport overhauled the gearbox. The car is literally brand new, down to the smallest detail, including the electrical circuit, which was rebuilt using thermal fuses. After a tune-up on the Lurcy Levis circuit, it was off to the 2021 Tour de Corse. Unfortunately, poor quality petrol prematurely ruined any hopes of victory in the 2021 event. On the way to the shake down, the engine emitted an abnormal noise. The decision was taken to abandon and get back to work. Nicolas Suarez again takes charge of the dismantling. Liners, pistons and cylinder heads are replaced. The crankshaft is controlled, the cylinder heads are replaced by modified RSR double-ignition heads, and new bearings are fitted to Carillo connecting rods. All of this in an engine block conforming to the specs of the period, fitted with the famous "Petit vilebrequin" (small crankshaft)! At the end of 2022, the now period-specification 3L engine was run in on an engine dyno and put through its paces: the result was 322 hp at 7,600 rpm. Since then, our driver has decided to end his career in 2023. After several departures this year, this 2.8L RSR will be the last "toy" to leave his stable. Scrupulously prepared and maintained by Nicolas Suarez and the technical support of Crubile Sport, our car is ready to take to the track again. A large number of parts are included with the car.It will be delivered run-in, following a handover session in the presence of its current owner, who is as concerned as ever about the quality of the cars he entrusts to his successors. Are you looking for the ultimate Tour Auto weapon, also eligible for CER or next season's French Rally Championship? Delivered like new, with its FIA International HTP and up-to-date safety system. - 2000 Acura NSX-T
Built in November 1999, this 2000 NSX-T is a wonderfully presented example, finished in Silverstone Metallic, which is paired with the sought-after, staggered 7-spoke aluminum wheels. Showing 45,075 miles at the time of cataloging, the car remains in wonderful condition and has been under the care of just 3 California-based owners from new. Starting in 1995, the NSX became the NSX-T as a Targa-style roof was added which became the only available body style through the end of the production run. The interior is finished in black leather with matching black carpets and looks nearly new, showing just some minor wear on the bolsters. One of the things that makes the NSX so nice to drive is the exceptionally low dashboard- a signature of Honda’s in the era- placing the car on the road is so simple, and you still have an exceptionally clear view of the tachometer and speedometer in front of you. When the NSX first came out, one of the things that separated it from the crop of other low-slung, mid-engine cars was its excellent outward visibility- something that was never a strong suit for sports cars. This is why many of these cars ended up as daily drivers, an exciting experience behind the wheel, paired to Honda reliability all in an easy to use package. Right behind the passengers sits the NSX’s 3.2 liter VTEC-equipped DOHC V6 which produces 290 horsepower and 224 lb-ft of torque. Known for their exceptional longevity, it is not uncommon to see one of these cars with over 200,000 miles on the odometer with little more than routine maintenance along the way. This engine is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox that is known for having some of the best shift action of any vehicle ever sold. Even though the NSX is looked back on quite favorably as one of the first truly usable supercars, when new, they were reasonably underappreciated. After the first few years of strong sales, the numbers tapered off, with just 221 units sold in the United States for the 2000 model year. Of those cars, a portion were fitted with the 4-speed automatic, making this car actually quite rare and sought after. Offered in the ultimate combination of pop-up headlights, with the larger engine, 6-speed manual and 7-spoke wheels, this may be the ultimate US-spec NSX. 2000 Acura NSX-T ISSIMI, Inc If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1968 Jaguar E 4.2 Series 1.5 Coupé 2+2
This Jaguar Coupé was delivered to Royal Elysees CH. F. Delecroix, the French importer in Paris and registered for the first time on 8th May 1968. At the end of the 90s, the E-type belonged to a gentleman from Lyon who had the cylinder head converted to unleaded fuel in 1999 and at the same time had a new fuel tank installed. In August 2015 the Jaguar was imported into Switzerland and registered locally. In 2018, the car was prepared for a Veteran MOT, with all the work documented and invoiced at around 16’000 francs. In 2019, the Jaguar was finally sold to its last owner, an enthusiast with his own workshop for precision mechanics. He wasted no time improving his steed and installed a new clutch, a new oil-pump, starter motor, alternator a stainless-steel exhaust system, new front brake discs with optimised brake pads, and other improvements. In 2022, a set of new Michelin classic tyres were installed. Consequently, the Jaguar is in technically very good condition, with the coachwork and interior in good condition with signs of use. The car has its own FIVA ID and will be handed over with the last veteran MOT completed in October 2022. 1968 Jaguar E 4.2 Series 1.5 Coupé 2+2 Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright This Jaguar Coupé was delivered to Royal Elysees CH.
