This very beautiful 356B T6 S90 (Super 90) was supplied new in April 1963. The first owner was an American Air Force officer stationed at the Ramstein Airforce Base in Germany. He had his new car delivered to Germany where he used the car until his service time was up. The owner and his car then moved to America, where the owner retained his 356 until his death. Then the car came into the hands of his daughter. She decided to sell the car as she wasn’t really very interested. We bought the car in 2013 and sold it to a Dutch automobile aficionado, who, however, drove the car sporadically. This 356 S90 is still in an excellent and rust-free state. The body was repainted once, in the 1990s, and of course it was repainted in the original colour, Champagne Yellow 6205B. In 1986, the engine was replaced by a KD engine. The code KD stands for Kunden Dienst. Engines with this code are engines that have been overhauled at the Porsche factory and so, this engine is the correct one for this 356B T6. At the request of the owner, the odometer was reset to zero after the new engine had been installed. This has been duly documented and the evidence is part of a large amount of old invoices. The car has since driven some 11,000 mls. only. 1963 Porsche 356B T6 Super 90 Veni Vidi Vici Classic Cars BV If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello GT2 by XL Racing
Trailblazers With Ferrari yet to be convinced by its flagship 550 Maranello’s credentials as a competition car, it fell to smaller privateer outfits to prepare the elegant twelve-cylinder Gran Turismo for racing and prove its worth. Prove its worth they most certainly did – widely respected names such as Prodrive and Italtecnica unlocked the front-engined model’s potential, ultimately instilling Ferrari with the confidence to greenlight development of what would become the 575 GTC. Among the earliest competition variants of the Ferrari 550 Maranello were the two identical cars built by the French privateer team XL Racing to contest the GT2 and N-GT categories of international endurance racing. The development of said cars was overseen by the longstanding Peugeot Sport engineer Michel Enjolras with the direct assistance of Italtecnica in Italy. A bespoke and ultra-strong roll-cage was fabricated by Matter in Germany, the V12 engine was massaged and extensive work was invested into weight-saving and honing an aerodynamically advanced carbon-fibre body package. The result was a car which weighed a staggering 400kg less than the road-going Ferrari 550 Maranello and, with 600HP on tap, was a healthy 130HP more powerful. More pertinently, the thorough development of XL Racing’s 550 Maranello GT2 granted it homologation from the respective governing bodies of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the American Le Mans Series and the French FFSA GT Championship. Chassis number 108536 The second of XL Racing’s two 550 Maranello GT2s, chassis number 108536 first contested the 2002 French FFSA GT Championship, though was soon transported across the pond to the United States to compete in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). Preparation and running of the car was entrusted to the German outfit Seikel Motorsport, which boasted a wealth of experience in the ALMS. America’s top-flight endurance motorsport series, the ALMS generated a great deal of media and commercial interest, not only stateside, but also back in Europe. The XL Racing Ferrari 550 Maranello GT was entered into two events during the 2002 ALMS season. First up was the Road America 500 at the history-steeped Elkhart Lake circuit in Wisconsin. Drivers Craig Stanton and Stefano Buttiero duly announced the arrival of the 550 Maranello, crossing the line an impressive seventh in the GT category. Next up was arguably the jewel in the ALMS crown: Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. Craig Stanton was joined for the 1,000-kilometre affair by Hugh Plumb and the French endurance racing veteran Gilles Vannelet. Alas, the trio was forced to retire after 171 laps. The following year, chassis number returned to France and the fiercely competitive FFSA GT Championship. The car contested all 12 rounds of the series, raced predominantly by Gael Lesoudier, and picked up three podiums in the GT category. Arguably the most significant moment of 2003 for this Ferrari 550 Maranello came in July at the tiny Merignac circuit in Bordeaux, France. A certain M. Schumacher – you know, the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion and all-time Ferrari great – was present to personally deliver an Enzo to one of Ferrari’s most important clients. Rumour has it that Schumacher spotted this 550 Maranello GT2 in the paddock and asked XL Racing if he might be able to have a go. Several spirited laps later, a visibly ecstatic Schumacher signed the roof of the car in a gesture of goodwill. In the 1,000KM-race at Le Mans in November of 2003, the German’s signature can still be clearly seen on the roof of this Ferrari. Chassis number 108536 was sold by XL Racing in 2004, though by no means did that render the car’s competitive career over. This Ferrari remained a regular feature in the French FFSA GT Championship right up until 2007. As the photos illustrate, this Ferrari has benefitted from a thorough mechanical inspection, a comprehensive service and a cosmetic refresh. “If you’ve always dreamed of racing a 12-cylinder Ferrari at Le Mans, here’s your chance.” With regards to the latter, we commissioned PubbliMais to refinish the car in its exact livery in which it contested the 1,000km race at Le Mans in 2003, at a cost of over 6,000 euros. The Torinese company famously applied the liveries for Lancia’s Works competition cars throughout the decades and it’s fair to say the artisans there know a thing or two about livery application. The finish is nothing short of exquisite. A naturally-aspirated 12-cylinder flagship Ferrari with competition history at international endurance motorsport’s highest level, this 550 Maranello GT2 by XL Racing in an important piece of racing history. Not least because, together with the other examples built for competition by privateer teams, it ultimately proved the racing pedigree of the model and gave Ferrari the confidence to build its own version. Furthermore, with the burgeoning popularity of modern-era endurance racing cars in the world of historic motorsport, chassis number 108536 is a highly eligible car with which to join this exciting movement. You only had to look at the voluminous and wildly diverse Endurance Racing Legends grid at this year’s Le Mans Classic to appreciate the appetite for these cars. If you’ve always dreamed of racing a 12-cylinder Ferrari at Le Mans, here’s your chance. 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello GT2 by XL Racing Girardo & Co. Other Cars from Girardo & Co. - 1990 Jaguar XJS V12
The Jaguar XJS, an iconic classic with an impressive past and a challenging legacy: the successor to the legendary E-Type. Where the E-Type was known for its pure sportiness, the XJS emphasized luxury and comfort without losing sight of speed. With its introduction, the XJS was immediately equipped with Jaguar's powerful 5.3 liter V12, good for no less than 285 hp. This results in an impressive acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds, and a top speed of over 250 km/h. Our Jaguar XJS convertible, originally delivered in Switzerland, is a special example. It has only been owned by three owners to date, which contributes to its unique character and careful maintenance history. Did you know that the first XJS convertibles were built by the American Hess & Eisenhardt, because Jaguar initially had difficulty producing a convertible? Nowadays, Jaguar has of course completely mastered that! This beautiful example, with its striking combination of performance and refinement, has been immaculately maintained and is ready for a new chapter. A true ‘driver’s car’ that is not only rare, but also full of fun and character. 1990 Jaguar XJS V12 Cool Classic Club If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S Flachbau
This C28 example was supplied new to Singapore in 1994 as 1 of just 12 RHD Turbo S built and as such, is one of the rarest and most unique Porsches extant. Standing as a cornerstone of air-cooled turbocharged 911s and the last RWD Turbo badged 911, this X84 example is thought to be one of just two cars in the UK at this time. The build specification can be seen below: L12G - Speed Yellow X09 - Special centre console X84 - Turbo Slantnose, RoW (Rest of World) 407 - 18" Polished 3-piece wheels 567 - Top-tinted windscreen 650 - Sun-moon-roof Notably, of the 12 RHD RoW optioned cars, it is understood that 8 of these were allocated to Singapore, and from those, six were supplied new to Brunei. It is understood the car was supplied new to a doctor and covered just 10,900 miles before its import to the UK in 2003. This example was purchased by its air-cooled aficionado owner 4 years ago. Residing within a collection of 90s era 911s, this example has been used sparingly and serviced thoroughly by Porsche main dealers. Leading a sheltered early life, this 964 has now covered just 13,900 miles from new. Most recently serviced and inspected by Porche Brooklands in February 2023, this Turbo S Flachbau really must be seen to be appreciated. Much like the many polished split rim wheels, the barrels are prone to milking. As a part of the sale, these wheels have been refurbished to the highest standard, a process that has taken close to three months to perfect. This wonderful Turbo S is available to view by appointment at our showrooms just outside of London. 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S Flachbau D.K. - 1964-alfa-romeo-giulia-tz-1-double-bubble
In the opinion of many Alfa Romeo enthusiasts, the race-developed Giulia Tubolare Zagato, or TZ-1, was the ultimate embodiment of the marque’s popular four-cylinder model line. This striking example claims original ownership and period racing use by a colorful cultural figure, Dmitri Nabokov. Nabokov was the son of the highly acclaimed literary novelist Vladimir Nabokov, the multilingual intellect most widely known for penning the legendary Lolita and Pale Fire. But although Dmitri Nabokov may have been the son of one of the world’s most celebrated writers, he was so much more: An accomplished academic writer and translator in his own right, Dmitri was also a talented athlete and an aspiring opera singer who once took the stage with Luciano Pavarotti. On top of all that, the younger Nabokov was a dyed-in-the-wool sports car enthusiast, at various times owning a Triumph, Bizzarrini, Dodge Viper, MG, and several Ferraris, among many others. Completed in April 1964, chassis number 750061 was finished in Bianco paint over Nero leather-upholstered seats and built with a double-bubble roof. As Nabokov measured nearly six feet, five inches with a racing helmet, he claimed to have personally specified this feature. The car is the only TZ-1 delivered new with a double-bubble roof—a feature so closely associated with Zagato coachwork today—making it extraordinarily rare and desirable from the outset. Nabokov immediately set about campaigning the Alfa Romeo, entrusting the car for competition preparation to the well-known Italian driver/tuner Carlo Facetti, and then running in some 23 different races over the next season and a half. During that stretch, the TZ-1 achieved numerous class wins and top-three finishes at various events at Monza and in European hillclimbs throughout 1964, and it placed 4th in the GT 1.6 at the 1000 Kilometers of Monza in 1965. That August, Nabokov offered the Giulia for sale, and it was acquired by Alec Mildren, an Australian driver/dealer who soon resold the car to fellow Aussie Max Brunninghausen of Sydney. Brunninghausen campaigned the Alfa Romeo in the well-known Tasman Championship, achieving a 1st-overall finish at the Warwick Farm International in February 1966. As detailed in the April 1969 issue of Sports Car World magazine, a copy of which is on file, when Brunninghausen was able to acquire a TZ-2, he traded the TZ-1 back to dealer Roy Compton, although Martin Ubelher and Patrick Dasse’s well-researched book Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ claims that the privateer continued to race the car during 1967 for Ian Hindmarsh Motors. For the 1968 season Compton repainted the coachwork in bronze (as it appears in the article) and updated the mechanical components, including installation of a fresh engine, which is presumably the currently equipped motor. The local racing authorities disqualified the TZ-1 on a technicality, however, so Compton detuned the engine and sold it to Fred Calloway, the owner at the time of the magazine feature. Passing to Nick and Leonie Langford by 1984, the TZ-1 was eventually offered at a Sotheby’s Australia sale in November 1990, by which point the coachwork had been repainted red, and the car was noted to be equipped with the currently installed 536-series block from a 1966 Giulia GT. Owned by Neil Marsden of Melbourne, the Alfa Romeo remained in Australia until 1991, when it was sold to the current owner, a dedicated marque collector. The consignor immediately re-commissioned the TZ-1 for vintage racing, taking runs at Moroso, Sebring, and Watkins Glen during the early 1990s. During the 2010s, a renewed effort was invested in the car’s racing condition, and it was fitted with a new fuel bladder, a correct ring-and-pinion set, and a proper airbox that was custom-built in the correct factory style. Following participation in the 2012 US Vintage Grand Prix and July Sprints, the consignor commissioned PHP Racengines, Inc. of Wauconda, Illinois, to conduct a full engine rebuild to competition specifications in 2015. Well-documented with a parts catalogue, owner’s manuals, owner’s correspondence, and maintenance invoices, this beautifully presented TZ-1 is an ideal candidate for further event enjoyment or display at marque gatherings and owner’s club meets. Also a strong basis for full restoration to its original factory configuration, the rare TZ-1 “Double Bubble,” with unique and unrepeatable provenance, promises to thrill both marque purists and racing aficionados alike. 1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ-1 'Double Bubble' RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. Subtle, sophisticated, and with a Ferrari V-12 at its heart, it is easy to see why the 275 GTS is so beloved by those in the know. Offering understated looks with excellent performance, a copious boot, and comfortable seating for two, the 275 GTS is a stress-free entry into Enzo-era Ferrari ownership and is a car that can easily be used on a regular basis. This example, the 10th 275 GTS built, stands out from its siblings due to its unique colour combination of Nero (18.292) paintwork over a Bleu (VM 3015) interior. Destined for its native Italy, chassis number 06819 was sold new to Mrs. Dino Fabbri, the wife of a Milanese publisher and Ferrari collector, in April of 1965 and registered as as MI A 08569 according to Ferrari historian Marcel Massini, prior to being reregistered in Vercelli later that year. After being traded back to the selling dealer, M.G. Crepaldi S.a.s. in Milan, the 275 GTS was purchased by its second owner, Cesare De Lucchi of Varese. De Lucchi would go own to own the 275 GTS for the rest of his live, and it was brought to Ferrari’s 50th anniversary celebrations in Rome and Maranello in May of 1997. Approximately five years later, the car’s interior was retrimmed by Fratelli Luppi of Modena in blue leather. It was granted Ferrari Classiche certification in 2004; this confirmed that the car retains its original chassis and engine, in addition to being fitted with a replacement gearbox of the correct type, not uncommon for a 275-series Ferrari. After Cesare De Lucchi’s passing, the car was enheirited by his son Vittorio. In 2007, the 275 GTS was bought by Marcus Wood and exported to the U.K., receiving a mechanical refurbishment by GTO Engineering upon its arrival in the U.K. Purchased by an owner in France one year later, the car returned to continental Europe and was showing only 36,500 kilometers from new at that time. Over the course of the ensuing nine years, the car was driven and enjoyed as intended and was showing approximately 54,500 kilometers on its odometer in 2017 when it was acquired by the current custodian, also from France, via RM Sotheby’s. Perfectly suited for touring and warm-weather drives and presented in fabulous, original colours, this 275 GTS surely won’t disappoint. 1965 Ferrari 275 GTS by Pininfarina RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1962 Jaguar Series 1 E-TYPE FHC
Following a painstaking recent restoration, this is a concours-ready example of perhaps the best-looking Jaguar E-type of all – the Series 1 3.8 Fixed-Head Coupé. Chassis number 887371 was built on 1 November 1962 and was originally finished in Cream with a Red interior. It was dispatched on 10 November to Jaguar Cars New York, but little is known of its subsequent life in the US. It’s thought to have spent some time in Florida during the 1980s before ending up with a collector on the East Coast who intended to have it restored. Sadly, he still hadn’t got around to having that work done by the time the E-type was offered for sale in 2019. The car had been painted green at some point but it was still complete and matching-numbers. Having been shipped back across the Atlantic and offered for sale in the UK, it was acquired by a British enthusiast and entrusted to E-type specialist Gibsons Classics in Burton-upon-Trent for a ‘nut and bolt’ rebuild. After the car had been completely stripped down, it was decided to replace areas such as the floors, front bulkhead, top scuttle panel, inner wheelarches and rear lower quarter panels, with new panels being sourced from Martin Robey. Once the bodywork had been taken back to bare metal and repaired as necessary, a respray was carried out in Gunmetal Grey by Coventry Automotive Refinishing at a cost of £14,000 – and the bonnet has subsequently been coated with a Paint Protection Film. A long-manifold, big-bore, stainless-steel exhaust system from Classicfabs was fitted – complete with a heat shield for the alternator conversion – and the differential was reconditioned as part of a complete overhaul of the IRS unit. During the restoration it was decided to fit an alternative period correct 3.8-litre engine-block, which along with the original cylinder head, was prepared by Rob Beere Racing. RBR Sportsman con-rods were fitted, the crankshaft was reground, and a new flywheel was matched to it. The original engine-block (R8575-9) has stayed with the car and is offered as part of the sale, and the E-type retains its original Moss gearbox (EB7723JS). An upgraded cooling system was specified, complete with Kenlowe fan, the electrics were converted to negative earth, and a modern starter motor and high-pressure fuel pump were added. Having been converted to right-hand drive – and a smaller wood-rim steering wheel fitted – the Jaguar was retrimmed by AM Automotive Interiors. After the finishing touches had been applied, the car was MoT’d during the summer of 2021 and returned to the road for the first time in more than 30 years, having been given the registration number 301 XVK. Now being offered for sale at The Classic Motor Hub, this beautifully presented Jaguar Series 1 E-type would be equally at home on the concours field as it would be showing off its immense performance on a cross-country run. The suspension features adjustable dampers and the wheels and tyres have also been upgraded, giving this E-type a much-improved level of ride and handling. All of the expenditure from its restoration is carefully catalogued in the car’s history file, there is a complete photographic record of the work carried out, and it also comes with a Heritage Certificate. MODEL HISTORY Still recognised as a landmark model, it’s little wonder that the Jaguar Series 1 E-type is one of the few cars ever to have been displayed in the New York Museum of Modern Art. It was introduced at the 1961 Geneva Salon, and aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer came up with one of the most beautiful automotive shapes ever created. At a time when 100mph was still a significant figure, the E-type offered 150mph performance from its triple-carburettor, 265bhp, 3.8-litre straight-six engine. Beneath the skin, it owed much to the Le Mans-winning D-type and shared that car’s basic layout of a monocoque centre section with a subframe carrying the engine and front suspension. At the rear, independent suspension was fitted when many of Jaguar’s rivals still employed a traditional live axle. With the marque having pioneered the use of disc brakes in the early 1950s, it came as no surprise that the E-type featured them on all four wheels. Although it was first and foremost a road car, and Jaguar was far too busy meeting demand to get involved with a full competition programme, the E-type proved to be an effective racer. In 1961 it was quick enough to scare anyone in a Ferrari 250 GT SWB, and the following year E-types finished fourth and fifth overall at Le Mans. In 1963, Jaguar produced a short run of 12 Lightweights, which were able to go toe-to-toe with Ferrari’s GTO. The E-type was offered at a fraction of the cost of its rivals from Ferrari and Aston, and when The Motor road-tested one in 1961 it concluded: ‘The sheer elegance of line which Jaguar seem able to produce by total disregard for fashion trends is allied to a combination of performance, handling and refinement that has never been equalled at the price and, we would think, very seldom surpassed at any price.’ Production was slow to get under way during 1961, but thereafter modifications came thick and fast. A 4.2-litre engine was introduced in 1964, and the heavily revised Series 2 followed in 1968. The V12-engined Series 3 then took the model through to the end of its production run in 1974. 1962 Jaguar Series 1 E-TYPE FHC The Classic Motor Hub If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright Following a painstaking recent restoration, this is a concours-ready example of perhaps the best-looking Jaguar E-type of all – the Series 1 3.8 Fixed-Head Coupé.
