  • 2000-ferrari-550-maranello-wsr-specification

Finished in Rosso Corsa over Beige Connolly leather and specified with the Fiorano handling pack, carbon bucket seats, four-point racing-style harnesses, plus a leather-trimmed roll cage: to all intents and purposes the Ferrari 550 Maranello offered here is a ‘World Speed Record’ edition made to celebrate the model setting a string of production car average speed records. However, the prized Swedish client that ordered this 550 Maranello was rather disappointed to miss out on one of the original 33 WSRs commissioned. As such, Ferrari swiftly pushed through this extra example. Please note, it does not feature a WSR commemorative plaque in the interior. The factory build record even states: “VERY URGENT CAR !!!!!!”. It was ultimately delivered new via Autoropa of Testvägen on 7 July 2000. Sweden’s sole licenced Ferrari importer continued to service the car through to March 2004, at which time it was logged with 38,002 kilometres. Subsequently acquired by the consigning owner in Finland, this fascinating 550 Maranello benefits from a most recent service in July 2024. Accompanied by its owner’s guides and Warranty Card, the car displayed 62,224 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. 2000 Ferrari 550 Maranello 'WSR Specification' RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1969 Ford Escort Mk1 Twin Cam - Ex-Mick Briant

By the time the Escort first came out in 1968, Ford were already firmly wedded to the marketing strategy of 'win on Sunday, sell on Monday' and were keenly aware that they would need a race/rally version to take over from where the mighty Lotus Cortina had left off. To this end, Ford’s Boreham-based competition department had been quietly beavering away on a Lotus-powered Escort that was ready to roll as soon as the standard models hit the showrooms. Called the 'Twin Cam', the hot new Escort immediately excelled on the international race and rally circuits, winning countless events and securing Ford the coveted World Rally Championship manufacturer’s trophy in its first year of production, a feat which it also repeated the following year. Introduced in 1968 in very limited numbers for homologation purposes, the Escort Twin Cam is now one of Ford's most revered cars and still regarded as a formidable road car. Based on a reinforced Type 49 body shell with wider wheel arches, quarter bumpers, uprated suspension and front disc brakes as standard, it was powered by a Lotus-designed, 8-valve twin camshaft head mated to Ford’s 1.5-litre pre-crossflow block bored out to 1,558cc offering 110bhp and 115mph. Only 883 Twin Cam models were made before production ended in 1970 to make way for the BDA-powered RS1600. The car presented here is a very special Twin Cam - NBH 769H was an early production example, bought brand new from the Aylesbury Motor Company in 1969 by Mick Briant – the hugely successful British rally driver who won the Motoring News Championship three times, the BTRDA and the Welsh Championship. Mick has documented his illustrious history in British National Rallying in three books in which NBH 769H features. Mick recounts his exploits in the car with much enthusiasm: 'I don’t recall my actual first outing (in NBH 769H), but my first National event was the January 1970 Rally Bristowe, with Mick Mancy navigating (numerous photos of the pair appear in one of Mick’s book, Do you have to drive like that?) we managed eigth overall out of 150 starters'. Mick went on to endow NBH 769H with an upgraded engine, courtesy of Racing Services of Twickenham, stroking and boring the original block and taking it out to 1,860cc. The engine was dry-sumped, had a steel crank and rods, Cosworth pistons and L1 cams, big valves and some other 'trick' bits. Mick states: 'I don’t recall the actual power output, but it was the best engine possible until the 2-litre alloy-blocked Cosworth BDA become an option'. Mick recalls that NBH 76DH went onto receive the de-rigueur big arches of the time and a colour change to orange (which coined the car the nickname 'The Orange Box'). He did several rounds in the prestigious Motoring News Championship in NBH 769H, always finishing in the top ten and in 1971 Mick won the London Counties Rally Championship in NBH 769H, with Donald Close navigating. The car was renewed in-period and returned to white bodywork with a black bonnet that displayed the ‘Go Perrys’ livery (the Ford dealer in Aylesbury). NBH 769H is listed as 'Escort 1860' (car #40) on the entry list of the 1971 Jim Clark Memorial Rally, in which Mick drove (with Peter Robinson navigating), and of which a photo exists of the car on the start line. In 2017, our vendor (a rally enthusiast, driver and car collector) acquired NBH 769H and entrusted it to master engineer, Andrew Stapley of ASM Classics in Kent, who specialise in restoring some of best classic Fords in the UK. Over some four years, our vendor has invested c.£65,000 in bringing this venerable rally car up to a remarkable standard. So much so, it was invited to be displayed at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2021, where after nearly 50 years apart, Mick Briant and Peter Robinson were reunited with the car, plus some of its navigators, all autographing the inside of the doors (captured in photos and video). ASM's expert attention included a full renewal of the Twin Cam signature paint colour, Ermine White (with black bonnet and in period livery), its big-arch Type 49 shell, its revered Lotus Twin Cam engine (with associated dyno readings), its DCOE Weber carbs, 4-speed gearbox, competition clutch and pressure plate, English axle (with 4.7 diff ratio & LSD), coil sprung front Bilstein suspension, leaf sprung rear, plus the addition of Cibie spotlights and a whole host of mods to make this into a formidable period rally/fast-road car. NBH 769H has only been used sparingly since its complete restoration, residing in our vendor’s private Collection, but notably, it was driven ‘up the hill’ at Shelsley Walsh by our vendor and indeed, one Mick Briant – again, all captured for posterity and provenance. MOT'd and 'match-fit', this is a turn-key classic performance Ford. This really is a special car and deserves to be fully appreciated and enjoyed by a similar enthusiast. • 1961 AC Greyhound - Bristol Engine

The AC Greyhound was introduced at 1959 London Motor Show. It was the second Coupe based on the Ace Roadster but offered 2 + 2 seating. Like the Aceca’s, the Greyhound’s extremely shapely and attractive body was constructed in hand-formed aluminium over a tubular steel framework, while the longer-wheelbase tubular-steel chassis was more substantially built. One notable departure from the Aceca was the bottom-hinged boot lid, replacing the Aceca’s practical hatchback, although this new arrangement did have the advantage of enabling oversize luggage to be carried with the boot open. The result was a well engineered, lightweight, generously equipped and extremely pretty GT car in the best AC tradition, boasting rear passenger accommodation roomier than many ‘2+2’ rivals. Most of the 84 Greyhounds built left the factory in Thames Ditton with the six cylinder Bristol engine fitted. This propelled the car from standstill to 60mph in just over 11 secs and onto a top speed of 110mph. The AC Bristol powered Greyhound offered here at Autostorico is a 1961 matching numbers example finished in Princess Blue with Red leather interior. BEF 2544 (Chassis number) was first registered as 975CLM to Tarpen Engineering Co Ltd, South West London on 8th June 1961. Having passed through five documented owners the car was purchased by its current owner an avid AC fan in 2018. Since then the car has been in regular use and has been maintained to the highest possible standard, with recent works carried out by IN Racing. Supplied with an extensive history file including current V5 registration document, previous MOT’s, numerous invoices and other related material. 1961 AC Greyhound - Bristol Engine Autostorico Partners LLP If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4

Factory left-hand drive example with sliding sunroof Retains its matching-numbers original engine Documented by copy of its Aston Martin build sheet and Heritage Trust Certificate Previous long-term ownership of nearly 40 years Mechanically restored by Steel Wings with invoices in excess of $65,000 A unique and highly eligible entrant for the most prestigious rallies Successful Participant in the 2023 Tejas Turismo Hill Country Rally Bespoke Coco Mats, Refinished Wheels and Cosmetic Freshening 2024 Inspection, Scheduled Service and Detailing This delightfully charming DB2/4 is one of 565 Mark I models produced, and is documented by both its Aston Martin build sheet and a copy of its Heritage Trust certificate. A factory left-hand-drive model built for export, chassis number LML/576 was produced on 28 October 1953 in original colors of Sea Green over Beige Connolly hides, and was destined for Belgium in February 1954, where its sale was handled by the Ets. R. Mannes agency. Its build sheet notes that it was fitted with heavy duty shock absorbers and specifies other distinct features such as a kph speedometer, which it still retains today. Its first owner was Andre Pelgrims of Brussels, a member of a prominent local family whose residence, the Maison Pelgrims, exists today as a celebrated art exhibition venue. While few details of its early European history are known, the DB2/4 eventually made its way to the United States. It came into the possession of Lance Sterman of Stockbridge, Massachusetts in the early 1980s, and thus would begin a nearly four decade period of enthusiastic ownership. By 2012, Sterman elected to conduct a comprehensive mechanical overhaul undertaken by the Aston Martin specialists at Steel Wings of Ivyland, Pennsylvania. This work, completed over a five year period from 2012-2017, is documented in receipts amounting to over $65,000. A considerable amount of focus was given to the engine, which was carefully disassembled and rebuilt utilizing a billet crankshaft. Likewise, other systems were rebuilt, serviced, and replaced with the fuel, cooling, braking, and carburetion systems noted as having received attention. With a view towards driving enjoyment and reliability, certain improvements were made including the addition of upgraded front hubs, an electric fan, and an upgraded oil pump. The wiring harness and exhaust system were also replaced. All in all, the mission was to create the ultimate vintage British road rally machine that would fit like an old glove but be backed by a fresh rebuild by one of the most respected names associated with the marque. With the work complete, Sterman was able to participate in the 2018 AMOC Lime Rock Road Rally. The DB2/4 quickly captured the attention of AMOC members due to its unique combination of “as discovered” cosmetic condition in contrast to its rally purpose built mechanicals. More recently, service work has included a new brake master cylinder as well as new wheel cylinders in 2023. LML/576 embodies the 1950s British rally car aesthetic, and represents a rare, sporting, highly eligible choice for some of the most prestigious international collector car events, including the Mille Miglia and the California Mille. As a factory left-hand-drive example still with its original engine and retaining many original features, and with major fettling completed by Steel Wings in recent years, LML/576 is a compelling choice for continued historic event participation, either Stateside or back across the pond. 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Driver Source Fine Motorcars If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Boano

Model history Ferrari had been doing well through the 1950s with the 250 series of road and racing cars. The company’s successful early line included many variants and are characterized by their use of the Lampredi or Colombo designed 3 liter V12 engine. From the mid fifties, Ferrari’s road car production became important to the company’s future stability. Carrozzeria Pinin Farina was not yet able to meet Ferrari’s increased demand and thus Carrozzeria Boano was entrusted to expand the 250 GT series. The Ferrari 250 GT Boano replaced the 250 GT Europa and represented a significant departure for Ferrari. Driver and passenger comfort were taken seriously; the interior was more luxurious, seats were broader and there was less noise intrusion. By this time there was also synchromesh in the gearbox, which was exactly what was expected by the increasingly important North American market. The Boano-bodies cars were distinguished from later cars by the roof being lower and by the existence of quarter-light windows. From 1958 onwards the body was built by Ellena who raised the roof by about 3 inches. This example Retains its matching number engine Well maintained in an important Dutch Ferrari collection One of only 88 ‘low-roof’ examples Restored in 1998 This lovely 250 GT Boano was built in 1956 is one of some 88 cars manufactured. Many of them were used in competition events with gentlemen drivers. The chassis was very similar to the 250 GT Tour de France and the Tipo 128 B engine delivered 240 bhp so the car could be competitive, although the car was heavier as the competition cars due to the steel body on the Boano. The bodywork is in excellent condition with very good panel fit as the Boano’s were well built. This car shows no previous accidents and has a well kept and very clean underside with the original floorpans. We are currently researching the car’s early history, but quite early the car arrived in America and was owned by a Mr. Steve Barny and then by Robert Spangler of the Prancing Horse Farm in Baltimore. In 1983 the car was owned by Steve Cottingham. In 1997 the car appeared at auction in the UK and in 2000 the car was sold to a Mr Alberto Garnerone. He kept the car until his estate sold the car in 2013. The next owner is the current caretaker, a long time and important Ferrari collector. During the current ownership the car was used sparingly but well maintained. A number of cars were in period converted to other arguably more desirable, competition-orientated series from the 250 family. Fortunately, this car was not converted to a racing type car, making it a rare and original survivor. The paintwork is still presentable and shows some patina after more than 20 years. The Boano styling is elegant and the two-tone paintwork suits the model very well. The interior with the TdF style sport seats is in very nice condition. The engine starts well and shows hardly any smoke and has good oil pressure. The gearbox is a delight to use. The grey painted Borrani wheels give the car the sporting appearance. This must present a tempting offer, considering for example a 250 GT Lusso is much more expensive and significantly less rare while the Boano retains much more of its racing DNA. This car is a great 12-cilinder Ferrari to be used in rally, touring & club events or in the Mille Miglia for which it is eligible. This example deserves a new great home where it can be further enjoyed. 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Boano Very Superior Old Cars If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. With the dawn of the 1990s came the Delta’s roadgoing zenith: the HF Integrale Evoluzione, revealed at the Frankfurt Salon in 1991. A remapped 16-valve turbocharged inline-four boasted 210 horsepower, surmounting the 100 horsepower-per-litre hurdle with ease. Blistered wings opened up space for a widened track and Speedline Monte Carlo wheels. At the rear sat a functional spoiler, while the interior both looked and felt the part with optional bolstered Recaro leather seats with distinctive perforated upholstery. While the road-legal homologation Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione was earning its well-deserved reputation as a superb driver’s car, its competition counterparts were carving out their place in rally history: a debut victory at San Remo in 1989, the first of many wins for the Delta Integrale 16v, contributed to Lancia’s still-unmatched six consecutive World Rally Championship manufacturer’s titles. The Evoluzione was the last Delta that could rightly be called a WRC homologation car following Lancia’s withdrawal from rallying in 1992. This Lancia Delta Evoluzione is no ordinary example, having been commissioned by three doctors who previously provided the Lancia Works rally team with medial support during the 1980s. Looking to acquire a new Group A Delta, they placed an order through their contacts at Lancia when they discovered it would not be possible. This car stands out from other Deltas with its Martini livery, bodywork, and badging—only seen on ‘Martini 5’ editions of the Delta, limited to just 400 units. This Delta features slight exterior tweaks from the factory such as the roof spoiler in black rather than white. Inside, this car differs from a ‘Martini 5’ Delta, though, with the absence of a numbered glovebox plaque and an extremely special Verde Alcantara interior. From its initial delivery in 1992, the three doctors sent the Delta directly to Abarth, where the legendary tuner fitted Group N suspension and 17-inch wheels. It is thought that only a handful of Lancia Delta Evoluziones were ever sent to Abarth for such modifications. A set of period-correct 15-inch wheels and tyres accompany this Delta. First registered to a Giovanni Musatti on 6 July 1992, the three doctors retained the car until 2013 when it was acquired by SRL River Team. Nine years later, the consignor purchased this unique Delta Evoluzione Group N ‘Abarth’ and added it to The Sportiva Collection. In 2016, this Lancia was sent to Abarth Classiche, where it received the desirable certification book and metal display plate. Abarth Classiche noted this vehicle as one of the handful of ‘Group N’ specified Deltas that the company had modified. A version of events from the three doctors, chronicling this car’s conception, is available to view on file (in Italian) along with a photograph of them with the car. This Delta is also certified by the Lancia Registro Storico and is accompanied by its Certificato Di Identitià. Presented today in an unbelievably well persevered state, the odometer reads just 27,641 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. The exterior and interior are in their factory correct configuration and the glove box features a plaque bearing the signatures of the three doctors. An extremely rare example of an Abarth-modified Delta Evoluzione, this Lancia is sure to attract the attention of afficionados and collectors—it is likely an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire such a vehicle. 1992 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. • 1960-porsche-runge-rs010

Commissioned by actor and enthusiast John Cena, this RS010 was designed and constructed by Christopher Rünge over a two-year period and completed in 2019. Beneath its polished aluminum skin lies a full steel tube frame supporting a 2,300 cc OHV flat-four fed by twin-choke Weber carburetors, paired to a 4-speed “Longbox” transaxle. The suspension is fully independent with Koni adjustable shocks and vented Porsche 356 B brakes at all corners. Inside, the cockpit reflects Rünge’s aviation inspiration: toggle switches sourced from 1950s aircraft, a MiG-jet clock integrated into the dash, and a “Lusso” leather interior with full sound insulation and 12-volt air conditioning. TecnoMagnesio wheels complete the lightweight specification. Following its debut at Monterey, the RS010 was sold through Bonhams to its current second owner, remaining in exceptionally limited use since completion. It is titled as a 1960 Runge RS Coupe and accompanied by documentation of its build and a bespoke tool kit made to match the car’s aesthetic. With only one example ever constructed, the RS010 stands as Rünge’s singular masterpiece—an unrepeatable fusion of artistry, engineering, and the timeless ideal of analog speed. 1960 Porsche Runge RS010 ISSIMI, Inc If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
