- 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3
Arguably the most well recognized sports car of the 20th century, the Jaguar E-type offers a perfect combination of sleek lines and high-performance. Just as it did when first revealed to the public in 1961, it is still igniting passions today. The iconic Jaguar E-Type has evolved over the years. The initial 3.8-liter model had a lack of footwell space, uncomfortable seats, massive brake fade and an engine prone to overheating – yet it was loved. Ten years and numerous improvements later, Jaguar launched a V12 engine in its E-Type, transforming it with an infusion of torque and horsepower. Along with the engine, other significant modifications were made, including power steering and power brakes. The result was a very fine and quite sophisticated, grand touring car ready to conquer the winding roads with grace. This 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 is dressed in a striking shade of red with a well-preserved black leather interior and a black soft top. It was delivered new Left-Hand-Drive to the United States, NY in 1973. At that time, the car was painted in Turquoise with a dark blue interior. Here is the list of its options and equipment: leather steering wheel / Becker Mexico radio / black leather seats / black floor mats / air conditioning / black fabric soft top / 15″ spoke wheels / two windshield wipers / Stromberg carburetor / four exhaust outlets / radio antenna / burgundy belts / headrests The chassis no. UE1S23595BW still has its number matching V12 engine as shown on its Jaguar Heritage Certificate. The Jaguar E-Type Series 3 holds a Belgian road registration as oldtimer. It is in good condition and drives well. After being imported in Europe via Italy, it was bought in April 2015 by a Belgian passionate who cherished the car for 8 years and drove it regularly to take part in historical rallyes, including two in South Africa. The current owner used it only on special occasions. Today, the odometer shows a mileage of 25.750 miles. For the last ten years, the E-Type has been regularly maintained by a Belgian specialist who did the following works in April 23 : complete maintenance and lubrication / oil filter change / expansion vessel replacement / 2 new rear shock absorbers / carburetor overhaul / headlight adjustment / front winch geometry and steering wheel centering / starter fastening / 12 spark plugs. 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 AD Sportscars If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The Ferrari 360 Modena was introduced in spring of 1999 as the successor to the Ferrari F355 and like its predecessor is powered by a V8 mid-engine with now 3.6 litre capacity and 400 hp. Performance was transmitted either via a traditional 6 speed manual gearbox or the semi-automatic box called F1 which was able to change gears in 150 milliseconds. From 2000 the coupe, called Modena, was joined by the Spider which boasted a electric fully disappearing soft stop. Our example offered, with its F1 gearbox, is a Swiss delivery and was handed over to its first owner on the 13th July 2001 through Automobile Németh AG in the Bernese Hinterkappelen. Over 200’000 Swiss francs had to be paid for the Maranello beauty with the owner then receiving an exciting and luxurious sports car with bags of power. In August 2005, the Ferrari, with 15’000 kilometres driven, was taken over by the 2nd and so far last owner. He thoroughly enjoyed his spider over the following 18 years and used it for numerous fair-weather outings. In November 2023 the Ferrari was de-registered but shortly after, at 37’965 kilometres, received a major service including a change of the cambelt. With now 38’160 kilometres, a complete service booklet and a complete document folder, this gorgeous 360 Spider is in very good and carefully maintained original condition. The most recent MOT was completed in March 2022 but for a Swiss buyer the car will be freshly MOT’d as a matter of course. 2001 Ferrari 360 Spider Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1971 BMW 3.0 CSL 'Batmobile'
BMW struck a deal with Broadspeed to develop its new 3.0 CS for Group 2 competition, reportedly with a clause stating that the car must lap 2 per cent quicker than Ford’s Capri. Two prototype E9s were duly delivered to the British race team and engineering firm in September 1971. But only one, chassis 2211343 offered here, was transformed into true CSL specification. With input from the Cooper Car Company, the car was stiffened, fitted with lighter aluminum doors, bonnet, plus boot lid, and equipped with gas-filled Bilstein dampers. Ready for winter testing at Paul Ricard, ex-Ford driver John Fitzpatrick—the 1966 British Saloon Car champion—and BMW Works racer Dieter Quester failed to match the times of the Capri so the contract came to a hasty end. Broadspeed continued the project, however, with the car tested at Silverstone by future three-time Formula 1 World Champion Niki Lauda. As written in the July 1972 issue of Motor Sport Magazine, he compared the CSL favorably to his Formula 2 car of the time. Broadspeed entered chassis 2211343 into the April 1972 round of the European Touring Car Championship at a snowy Salzburgring, where Fitpatrick battled through the spray to finish 3rd as the best-ranked BMW. The 3.0 CSL soon returned to the factory in Munich and was painted with the now-iconic BMW Motorsport stripes. It is believed that this car was the first to be finished in the famous livery. Chassis 2211343 was sold in June 1973 to the Vasek Polak team in Hermosa Beach, California to be raced by BMW Service Advisor Bruce Ponder, who notably guided the car to victory at Riverside in 1974. The CSL then moved to Malmoe, Sweden in 1999 and, issued with FIA papers, contested the 2002 Le Mans Classic before being acquired by the Germany-based consignor in 2008. The father of all racing CSLs, chassis 2211343 is an immensely significant piece of BMW motorsport history and accordingly boasts a compelling backstory. 1971 BMW 3.0 CSL 'Batmobile' RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce
Italian automaker Alfa Romeo built the Giulietta series of cars from 1954 to 1965 in several body styles to appeal to all buyers, including a 2+2 coupé, four-door saloon, estate, spider, Sprint, and Sprint Speciale. The 2+2 coupé was the first to hit the scene, while the four-door saloon came along in 1955. That same year, the open two-seat Giulietta Spider with Pininfarina bodywork was launched to provide an alternative to those looking for open-top motoring along the Italian countryside. In 1956, Alfa Romeo switched from the Tipo 750 chassis to the Tipo 101 and also gave birth to the “Veloce” variant of the Spider. Directly translating as “fast” in Italian, the Spider Veloce gained 10 more hp than the regular Spider, bringing the total number to 90 hp thanks to twin-choke Weber 40 DCOE2 carburetors, 9:1 compression, a new cylinder head, 9mm valve stems, and bigger diameter crankshaft main journals. Early Alfas, produced in 1960, still used the “1495” prefix of the Tipo 750 chassis on the serial number before switching to the more appropriate “101.20” prefix. From 1956 to 1961, only 2,796 examples of the Spider Veloce were produced. This early example, Chassis # AR 1495.11327, began life on August 4th, 1960, and was sold to Hoffman Motor Car Co. in New York, NY, on the 27th of November, 1961. According to the Alfa Romeo Storico archives, this Spider Veloce was finished in black with beautifully contrasting red upholstery, a scheme it wears today. Under the hood is the 1.3 L DOHC Inline 4-cylinder engine with twin Weber 40 DCO3 carburetors backed by a 5-speed manual transmission. As the story goes, the car was purchased by its long-time owner, who is a good friend of LBI Limited, on Thanksgiving day of 1991 from Jerry Lucas of Lucas Racing Enterprises in Bethlehem, PA. Mr. Lucas came to the owner’s bar earlier in the week, asking if he would like to purchase the car. The owner snuck out shortly after Thanksgiving dinner to drive to Jerry’s shop and deliver the payment for the car. It is believed the car resided in the Bethlehem, PA, area for quite some time before this. At the time of purchase, the Alfa was largely dismantled with the engine removed. It underwent a restoration in the early 1990s at the hands of restorer Jed Steely. New floors were installed, the engine, suspension, transmission, and brakes were rebuilt, the body was refinished in its original color, the interior was re-trimmed, all chrome was replated, and a new top was installed. After completion in 1994, this Spider Veloce was a Concours-quality example and won First Place awards three years in a row at the New Hope Auto Show in Pennsylvania. In 2009, the engine was fully rebuilt from the ground up along with its driveshaft by Euro Auto Classics in Philadelphia, PA, a job that cost just under $9,000. After 20 years of ownership, the car was consigned through Gooding & Co., where it sold sometime in 2011. That same year, the Alfa received a brand-new Italian windshield that was also installed by Euro Auto Classics. In 2020, it was once more sold through Gooding & Co. to an owner in California. Under their ownership, the brakes were rebuilt by Werner Schott Classic Car Repair in Buellton, CA with the transmission receiving its own rebuild shortly after by The Smiekel Collection in Ventura, CA. This rare Spider Veloce stands out from the rest as the gold standard of what these classic sports cars should be like, with its restoration and numerous component rebuilds resulting in an example that drives as well as it looks. This Alfa was also the proud recipient of the coveted Alfa Romeo Owners Club Certificato d’Oro, with a near-perfect score of 99.3 at the 2010 AROC National Convention in Virginia. There are few things more enjoyable than cruising through the weekend in an open-top Italian sports car on the way to your local Concours lawn. We invite you to live out that vision in a 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce. Upon purchase, the new owner will receive the original jack, tool kit, owner’s manual, and numerous service records on file. EXTERIOR Body And Paint The body of this Giulietta Veloce is very solid and shows no issues with rust, corrosion or accidents that we could find. The body is straight down the sides, and all of the panels are in excellent condition with great panel gaps. The fit and finish of the bumpers, deco trim on the rockers hood and trunk latches, as well as the front grill and headlights, are all exceptional. In speaking with the old owner who oversaw the restoration, he confirmed that the floors and rockers were properly replaced but overall, the body was relatively rust-free to begin with prior to restoration. The paint is in excellent condition with no evidence of poor prep work or excessive aging. The paint was done many years ago and has still held up to be in excellent condition. If there was going to be any issues with the prep of the basecoat or aging elements of the paint, they would’ve shown up already. The paint is consistent with a deep shine and no excessive swirl marks, bubbles, or serious scratches. There are, of course, a handful of blemishes here and there, as to be expected from a car that was restored such a long time ago. Glass And Trim All of the glass appears to be original, with the correct securit insignias on the passenger and driver-side windows, and they are crack-free. The windshield is a quality replacement and is also free of cracking or chips, though it does have a couple of tiny bits of stone peppering. The passenger side window does have some streaking marks right in the center, as well as some tiny little chips that are evident on the exterior that could perhaps be buffed out. The rear window of the top is very clean and clear, with only some minor blemishes and fading. The top fabric is in excellent condition, and the top fits nicely. All of the rubber trim appears supple and crack-free with no issues to note. The chrome is in excellent condition for being redone so long ago. There is virtually no pitting or serious scratches anywhere. All of the chrome shines nicely and is very straight. None of the chrome was left out during the re-chroming process and all of the interior chrome has been redone as well as all of the smaller exterior chrome bits. The door handles show some slight age, as well as the trunk hinges, though nothing worth fixing. The interior gauge chrome bezels may be the only items on the car that haven’t been re-chromed, as they are original looking and some slight hazing/fade is present. Overall, the chrome is excellent, and we would still put it in the show condition category. Wheels The wheels look to be correct on all four sides, and the silver and stainless finishes are still in excellent condition with no serious blemishes to note except for a few minor blemishes. All four tires are correct looking Michelin XAS tires with 2014 and 2015 date codes so by time they should be replaced but the tread is still very good. Notable Flaws There are a few blemishes to note, including the biggest blemish,l of which is located on the driver-side fender wheel arch, where the tire must have been turned, and a pothole was hit, which bent the fender seam down slightly. This could likely be corrected with painless dent removal. On the trunk, just below the driver-side hinge, is a small 1-inch crack in the paint that is noticeable only under certain lights. There is also some minor stone peppering on the nose area, though only noticeable under a close eye. INTERIOR Seats And Surfaces The interior is very nice looking for being done so long ago. The seats are in good shape with only slight sun fading, with the carpeting being in similar condition. The crinkle finish on the dash is in excellent condition, and the painted part of the dash is also in excellent condition, with clear gauges that all seem to function properly and tidy wiring components under the dash as well as a wheel that is crack-free and in excellent condition. The door cards are also very nice, with no issues to note. As stated before, the interior chrome is an excellent condition and has all been redone besides the gauge bezels. The area behind the seats houses the clean-looking spare tire, clean and supple rubber mats, as well as the original tools and jack all very tidy. The seatbacks have lost a slight amount of their tightness. Overall, the interior presents very well for an older restoration and has held up exceptionally well over the years. Functionality And Accessories All of the lights and gauges seem to function properly including the headlights, tail lights, turn signals, and brake lights, though the passenger brake light appears to be out. The fuel reserve light does seem to be stuck on even though the tank is half full. Otherwise, everything seems to be in good working order upon a cursory check. ENGINE BAY AND TRUNK Engine Bay The engine bay presents very well and was done to a very high standard when the car was initially restored. Attention to correctness was paid to multiple areas of the engine bay. With evidence of original stickers, clamps, original type carburetors, Marreli stickers, factory markings, and correct codings. All of the finishes have held up very nicely over the years, and the car could certainly be taken to the next level with just a bit of further attention, but it remains very resentable in its current state. The hood pad is in good condition with only minor blemishes. Trunk Area The trunk area is very tidy and correct and even shows factory spot welds in various places you would expect to see them. The biggest issue with the trunk would be under the rubber mat, there appears to have been trapped moisture at some point, creating some surface blemishing in the paint in the form of surface-level paint bubbling. To make it perfect once again, repainting it would be the best thing to do. Underside The underside is very tidy and correct with clear evidence that all of the work was done to a very high standard. There are no obvious issues to note. A good steam clean or dry ice cleaning of the underside would go along way to help in the overall presentation but the underside present very honestly as is. MECHANICALS Engine The engine fires to life after a few turns upon cold start. It idles nicely with choke until warm and makes good linear power throughout all of the gears with no odd noises or issues to note. Overall it sounds healthy and performs excellently. In the lower RPM range it stumbles a little bit sometimes as it likes to be revved out in the higher ranges of RPM. A slight carb adjustment will likely help to mitigate this a bit. Transmission Gear shifts are smooth up and down. No grinding or difficulty shifting was noted. The clutch engages right in the middle of the throw as it should, with no slipping or noticeable issues. Brakes And Suspension The brakes function as they should and do not squeak or chatter. There is nothing to be noted for brake issues or suspension issues. The suspension is firm feeling without any bounciness, though there is an occasional clunk in the driver’s side rear when going over larger bumps in a corner. Cornering in this car is an absolute pleasure overall. The car tracks straight down the road with no pulling to either side. Tires DRIVING EXPERIENCE Driving this car is a real treat. The quintessential classic sports car experience with all of the right sounds, shifts, wind in your hair, and all the thumbs ups you could ever want. This is an excellent older restoration done to a very high standard which shows through to its driving characteristics and overall presentation. - 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport 3
The weapon of choice for both well-heeled captains of industry and racing drivers alike, Alfa Romeo’s 6C 2500 was a study in understated elegance. Well-appointed and deceptively quick—especially in triple Weber Super Sport trim—the grand tourer proved a firm favourite for everyone from Prince Rainier of Monaco to the dashing Count Trossi, also finding favour with Hollywood starlets such as Rita Hayworth. The model was introduced just as Europe was spiralling towards war, a more technologically advanced replacement for the 6C 2300B and 8C that featured independent suspension at each corner. It would be the final Alfa Romeo to be sold with a separate chassis, with a number of Italian coachbuilders including Pinin Farina and Ghia putting their mark on the short-chassis Super Sport once production had restarted in 1945. Carrozzeria Touring’s take proved the most resolved and popular among sporting drivers, thanks in large part to its lightweight Superleggera body construction, with the second series of cars—boasting more pronounced flared wheel arches—accounting for around 120 examples. According to factory records, chassis 915657 was delivered to Carrozzeria Touring on 14 June 1948. Over the next eight months the Milanese coachbuilder clothed the car in a stunning second series Superleggera body, with the completed car leaving the busy workshops on Via Ludovico di Breme on 23 January 1949. The car was delivered to its first owner, Robert Setton, in Rome, Italy and was later exported to the United States, where it entered the collection of noted Alfisti Tom Segar of Boston, Massachusetts. The car was later referenced in the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Register as belonging to Donald McLellan during the 1970s, at which point it was finished in white over a brown interior and was described as in “rough but restorable condition”. It then passed through the hands of marque guru Peter Wessel, Investment Cars, Inc of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Rafin-Car S.r.l, before finding a home with Brescia-based enthusiast Dr. Massimo Montemezzi in 1995. In Montemezzi’s care the Alfa Romeo was said to have been subject to a five-year restoration that was ultimately seen through to completion by marque specialist H.D. Dambacher, prior to the current owner buying the car in March 2011. According to the consigning owner, engine assembly and testing was carried out by Aldo Zanone, retrimming by Autoselleria Brescia, while final assembly is said to have been carried out by Carrozzeria Grillo. During the rebuild, it is understood that many body components were found to be stamped with the car’s original body number, while an accompanying letter from noted Alfa Romeo collector, Siegfried Otto Hepp, states that the crankshaft stamping corresponds to the original engine number. Following the completion of its restoration, this striking two-tone 6C 2500 Super Sports has been used regularly in historic tours and events including a 2010 outing at the Mille Miglia Storica, signifying its eligibility for perhaps the greatest of all historic road rallies. This significant machine would also be welcome at the world’s leading concours events. 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1951 Ferrari 340 America Touring Barchetta
“The America is undoubtedly the fastest sports car ever placed on the world’s markets, giving a performance usually associated with near-Grand Prix vehicles. It is indeed a tribute to the enterprise of Enzo Ferrari, the genius of designer Lampredi, and the foresight of Luigi Chinetti.” That’s how Autosport gushingly summarised its road test of the ‘very fast’ Ferrari 340 America Barchetta Touring back in 1951. As its nomenclature suggests, the flagship Ferrari model was conceived for the then-untapped American market. Potentially hugely lucrative, the United States and its broad scope for business had been extolled to Enzo Ferrari by Luigi Chinetti, the Italo-American triple Le Mans winner. A shrewd businessman, Chinetti recognised the commercial appeal of Ferrari’s exquisite motor cars to America’s burgeoning motorsport scene. Il Commendatore listened, introducing the 340 America not only as a technological muscle flex, but also as a means of establishing whether Chinetti could walk the walk, as well as talk the talk. The 340 America was the first production Ferrari fitted with ingegnere Aurelio Lampredi’s 4.1-litre all-alloy long-stroke single-overhead-cam V12, the engine whose roots can be traced to the race-winning 375 Formula 1 monoposto. Well-heeled customers could opt for road- or competition-biased open or closed coachwork from Touring Superleggera, Vignale or Ghia. “The America is indeed a tribute to the enterprise of Enzo Ferrari, the genius of designer Lampredi, and the foresight of Luigi Chinetti.” Autosport Magazine It’s Touring’s Barchetta that, in our humble opinion, is the most beautiful – a masterpiece of simple and efficient style. Six 340 Americas were built as such, of which the car we’re privileged to be offering – chassis number 0118 A – was the third. Chassis no. 0118 A At almost 250lbs and standing well above six feet, William ‘Bill’ Spear by no means resembled the archetypal 1950s racing driver. But, contrary to his appearance, the wealthy Connecticut privateer was rather a dab hand behind the wheel. In fact, during his five-year foray into the world of international motorsport, Spears scored podium finishes in both the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 12 Hours of Sebring, in addition to winning the 1953 SCCA National Sportscar Championship. Five thousand miles away in Modena, Il Commendatore did not care for the stature or weight of Mr. Spear. What he valued was a loyal customer and an excellent ambassador for his brand – especially in the burgeoning North American market. Spear acquired his first Ferrari, a 166 MM Touring Barchetta, from the triple Le Mans winner Luigi Chinetti in December of 1950. Chinetti had only just begun working as a North American agent for his old pal Enzo. And we imagine Enzo must have been thrilled when Spear promptly placed his order for his 340 America Barchetta Touring, the 4.1-litre V12-powered flagship Ferrari of the day. As its Ferrari factory build sheets confirm, chassis number 0118 A was completed on 20 May 1951 and underwent its factory test drive less than a month later. Connecticut might have been its final destination but, having been well and truly infected with the motorsport bug, Spear decided instead to travel to Europe and enter the most famous motor race of them all: the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Because why not? Finished not in red, but rather in Spear’s striking signature blue and white livery, chassis number 0118 A – complete with additional front spotlights – was one of four new Ferrari 340 Americas entered. And expectations for the model, with its socking-great all-alloy 4.1-litre Lampredi V12, were very high indeed. Rumours were even swirling about a 150mph-plus top speed on Les Hunaudières. Partnered with the Belgian jazz trumpeter-turned-racing driver Johnny Claes, Spear demonstrated deft skill and mature race-craft on his maiden outing at La Sarthe. Alas, the blue number-17 Ferrari was smitten with clutch failure in the 16th hour – a trivial mechanical issue, of which many plagued the Prancing Horses in attendance. Shortly after Le Mans, chassis number 0118 A became the very first 340 America to make the trip across the Atlantic, where Spear continued to race it over the course of the next 18 months. And with considerable success. In addition to contesting the fiercely competitive SCCA National Sportscar Championship, this car was one of only three Ferraris to enter the inaugural 12 Hours of Sebring in 1952, a race which would soon establish itself as one of the United States’ ‘classic’ endurance motor races. Spear employed the American entrepreneur and sportsman Briggs Cunningham to partner him at Sebring, marking the beginning of a close and, motorsport-speaking, bountiful relationship between the two wealthy American playboys. Spear parted with this 340 America in October of 1952, though he continued to compete with a string of subsequent Ferraris, much to Chinetti’s delight. The car’s second owner, one Charles E. Brown from Los Angeles, picked up right where Spear left off, returning to a number of SCCA National Sportscar meetings throughout 1953. And it’s this extensive North American competition history which, today, lends chassis 0118 A one of the sweetest strings to its bow: the abundance of wonderful black-and-white and colour period photography, published in a raft of great automotive books and publications over the years. This Ferrari 340 America remained on the America’s West Coast, passing through the stables of a handful of owners until 1988, when it was acquired by the avid Italian Ferrari collector Fabrizio Violati. Heir to a prominent Italian mineral-water and wine empire, Violati kindled his Ferrari collection in 1965, buying of all models a 250 GTO – unbeknownst to his family, who disapproved of his insatiable obsession with motorsport! Over the decades, he assembled a stunning collection of over 40 significant Prancing Horses (and many more Abarths!), displaying them in the specially-built Maranello Rosso Collection museum in San Marino. Chassis 0118 A remained in the Maranello Rosso Collection for almost a decade, making four outings in the Mille Miglia Storico. Upon leaving the Maranello Rosso Collection, this Ferrari returned to the United States and has enjoyed only two owners since, the latter of whom took the decision to commission a comprehensive restoration. The exhaustive two-year 11-phase project was undertaken by Patrick Ottis and Motion Products Inc., the award-winning Wisconsin-based Italian classic automotive restoration specialist. The brief from the outset was clear: to return chassis number 0118 A to the exact specification and livery in which Bill Spear owned and raced it in the 1951 24 Hours of Le Mans. And as the hundreds of photos documenting the process illustrate, no stone was left unturned. The result is, as one would expect, astonishing. From the dainty bucket seats upholstered in blue leather and the hand-painted ‘Superleggera 51 Le Mans Special’ signage on the wings to the additional spotlights and the ornate Jaeger dials, every last detail is nothing short of beguiling. Upon completion of its restoration, chassis number 0118 A made its first – and, to this date, only – public appearance at the 2023 Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach. Retaining its matching-numbers chassis and engine, this Ferrari 340 America is accompanied by copies of its original Ferrari factory build sheets and a report by the renowned Ferrari historian Marcel Massini, confirming the car’s clear and comprehensive history. “A scintillating and ultra-rare open ‘big-banger’ 12-cylinder Ferrari with excellent period competition provenance, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, chassis number 0118 A is a truly remarkable proposition.” A scintillating and ultra-rare open ‘big-banger’ 12-cylinder Ferrari with excellent period competition provenance, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, chassis number 0118 A is a truly remarkable proposition. Fresh from a zero-compromise restoration and having only been fleetingly seen in public, this Ferrari is a ticket to the world’s greatest historic motoring events. From prestigious beauty pageants such as the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este and Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to dynamic events such as the Mille Miglia Storico and, of course, the Le Mans Classic. Returning chassis number 0118 A to the Circuit de la Sarthe, 74 years after Bill Spear contested the 24 Hours proper. Returning chassis number 0118 A to the Circuit de la Sarthe, 74 years after Bill Spear contested the 24 Hours proper. Now isn’t that a tantalizing proposition? Other Cars from Girardo & Co. - 1966 Porsche 912-6 Outlaw
We first met Jerry Jensen and 453310 at the Salt Lake City Porsche Parade in July 2012. After spending time with Jerry and his 912-6 it was impossible not to revere their presence and story. As retold in the article "Conspicuously Unusual: One Man's Porsche" by Bill Oursler, from Porsche Panorama, September 2012: According to Jensen, this 1966 Porsche 912 was acquired second hand in 1966 from the original owner who had purchased the vehicle and took it on a three-month vacation. A new 911 was simply out of reach financially. Originally Ivory in color, Jensen was unhappy with the quality of its factory paint job and decided to personalize the 912 to his taste. With the advice of a tradesmen, in his own garage, Jensen would repaint the car himself. He first attempted silver, which is a notoriously difficult lacquer. Later while working in retail shoe sales, he saw a pair of bright green ladies shoes that attracted his eye. He thought they were the perfect color for the 912, so that's what he painted it. He estimated the job took 3-4 months to complete - to much of his satisfaction. 453310 was used as a daily driver through the first part of the 1970's, to its absolute fullest. As a longtime concours enthusiast, Jensen knew that spirited daily driving and maintaining a show quality car do not mix well, so the decision was made to preserve the 912 for concours display and occasional outings. By that point, the bright green paint had incurred stone chips from use, so Jensen decided to repair the chips by painting two-tone scallops over them, one a slightly darker green than the base color (3 parts base green with 1 part black); and the other in a lighter shade of the car's overall color by the same amount (with 1 part silver). Having driven the 912 for some years, Jensen came to want the extra power offered by a 911, but a 911 was not in his budget. As fate would have it, his friend, a shop foreman where he had the 912 serviced, acquired a nearly perfect 2.0L from a wrecked 1967 911. Jensen would trade his skills in landscaping design for the 6-cylinder, and proceeded to install the unit himself with new Porsche parts catalog engine mounts, and the 911-specific wiring was untied and connected from the factory 912 harness. The car still retains its original 5-speed 912 transmission which is said to be quicker off the line with its lower gearbox ratios. Naturally, the engine's intake box, components, shroud and surrounds were painted to match the body. The completed car even attracted the attention of Ferry Porsche, (a known green Porsche admirer) at the 1977 San Diego Porsche Parade. A brief moment of their interaction was photographed. Other notable features to the Porsche include a 100-litre fuel tank, 5-guage instrument panel conversion, Prototipo steering wheel, Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio, leatherette basketweave seats with headrests, vinyl floor mats, 1970/71 era European headlights, sport muffler, 6 and 7” Torq Thrust style wheels shod with 185/70R15 and 215/60R15 Avon CR6ZZ tires. Jensen would continue to preserve and display his work for decades to follow, attracting numerous admirers along the way. He would own several Porsches over the years, but always held onto 453310. At least half a dozen customer cars were later commissioned to receive his 'magic touch'. The car's 1967 911 2.0L 901/05 powerplant has recently received a complete rebuild – along with other additional mechanical upkeep and restorative work. December 2022's Tejas Turismo Rally tested this 912-6 to its full potential during the nearly 700-mile Texas Hill Country Vintage Rally. The car performs exceptionally well with strong linear power, tight steering, shifting and braking. Steeped in Porsche hotrod lore, 453310 is a historically significant outlaw capable of continued club display and spirited touring. Supplied new in 1969, this 206 GT is one of just 152 examples completed. Leaving the factory on 28th January, this example arrived for sale at Crepaldi Automobili of Milan in February and soon thereafter found residence with its first custodian, Giuliano Benedetti, also of Milan. This 206 GT left the factory in Rosso Chiaro over Nero Simipelle with cloth inserts in Rosso. Like all of the 206s, the bodywork was crafted from aluminium and the 2-litre engine also in aluminium with steel liners. The Dino was sold by local dealership Armando Genghini a few years later in 1972 and exported to the USA. In 1973 it was purchased by Mr Steele of Oregon, with whom it would remain for the succeeding four decades. The car spent several years in storage and in the mid-2000s the Dino was stripped and a restoration commenced. In 2008 the car was offered for sale by Steele, in a partially restored state but with much of the mechanical works already carried out. The Dino was purchased by Mr Marks of Louisiana. The Dino was imported into the UK in 2015 and in 2019, a comprehensive restoration was carried out by Joe Macari's classic department. Refinished in Grigio over Pelle Rosso, this wonderful 206 GT is today accompanied by its Ferrari red book Classiche certification confirming its matching engine and gearbox numbers as well as delivery details. Following on from its restoration, this example was shown at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed Cartier Style et Luxe Concours, proving it will be right at home on the concours field or the road alike. Freshly serviced by Charles Hurst Ferrari, this 206 GT is accompanied by its original exhaust system and will be receive four new tyres as part of the sale. 1 of just 152 examples, this 206 Dino is available to view at our showrooms outside London immediately. 1969 Ferrari Dino 206 GT D.K. Released in 1957, this successor to the legendary XK140 absolutely raised the bar in terms of standards in luxury and performance. The model came with a powerful six-cylinder 3.4-litre engine, good for 250 hp in the exclusive ‘S’ version. The XK150 introduced all-round disc brakes for the first time, a development that put Jaguar on the map with five consecutive Le Mans victories. These refinements gave the XK150 not only speed, but also the braking power and precision befitting a true racing icon.At the time, the XK150 S was the ultimate culmination of Jaguar's years of racing experience and technological innovation. To match the brutal power of the ‘C-type’ engine, the XK150 S received three SU HD8 carburettors, a lighter flywheel and a sharper camshaft, good for a breathtaking driving experience. A limited edition of just 846 examples of the open two-seater in left-hand drive. This combination of rarity and engineering mastery make the XK150 S a coveted classic. This particular XK150 S OTS, meticulously restored to its original 1958 specifications, is a rare find. - 1980 Ford Capri 3.0 S 1
The Ford Capri made its sensational debut at the 1969 Brussels International Motor Show, although production at the Halewood plant in Liverpool had actually begun two months earlier to ensure that every UK dealer had at least one in its showroom by the time sales started in February 1970. This level of forward production ensured that Ford's brilliant young marketing team were able to leave examples of its new model parked outside prominent buildings and near the entrance to 150 railway stations in the south-east of England. Initial sales exceeded the predicted demand by 100%, mainly because the Capri created an exciting new style of car on this side of the Atlantic. Here, at last, was a sleek, eye-catching 'fastback' that bridged the gap between the traditional two-seater sports car and the family saloon. The Capri concept was made all the more attractive by a remarkably wide choice of engines from a 1.3-litre to the lusty 3.0-litre V6. As exciting as the Mk ll was rational, the Capri Mk lll (1978-1986) was one of the industry's most effective facelifts with a distinctly modern shape, and its improved aerodynamics naturally resulted in better performance and economy. Quad headlights, wrap-around bumpers and a plethora of TV star appearances (particularly Bodie and Doyle in their 3.0S) restored the Capri's 'mojo'. At launch, the existing engine and transmission combinations of the Capri II were carried over and the biggest seller eventually turned out to be the luxurious Ghia, however, the 3.0S was generally regarded amongst enthusiasts as the most desirable. On offer here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive, 3.0 S on offer from the private collection of marque expert Ric Wood. This was always Ric’s dream car and in 2019 he found this very car worthy enough to join his collection. Finished in gleaming Venetian Red with Carla Check 'fishnet' Recaros, the car has covered just over 26,600 miles since leaving the factory in 1980. Since its purchase, Ric has enhanced the car with XPAC-type upgrades including seven-inch RS alloys, vented discs and a limited slip differential. The engine was stripped, 'blueprinted' and subtly upgraded using his in-house expertise and to finish the job, he has repainted the car externally and underneath. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright The Ford Capri made its sensational debut at the 1969 Brussels International Motor Show, although production at the Halewood plant in Liverpool had actually begun two months earlier to ensure that every UK dealer had at least one in its showroom by the time sales started in February 1970. The results are up to show standards and we highly recommend that interested parties view this rather special Capri at Silverstone and see the impressive results for themselves.
