Factory prototype and the only left-hand drive example built Chassis CRS9500EX was built in 1999 as the prototype to the eventual production run of 37 cars by AC Cars Ltd between 1999 and 2001, it was used as their prototype before being placed into storage until 2012 when it was registered for the first time and sold to its original owner, a well-known AC enthusiast as an unpainted CRS experimental car. The prototype was the only left-hand drive CRS produced and can be imported and registered outside of the UK including the USA. The carbon road series cars were fitted with a Ford 302 5-litre engine paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. The composite bodies were manufactured by Pro-Tech Motorsport Ltd which was owned by F3000 racing team owner and former Radio One DJ David ‘Kid’ Jensen. The prototype has a number of unique differences which include; the carbon fibre tub is hand laid rather than vacuum formed, Brembo front brake calipers, power steering, the bonnet and boot lids are single-skin glass reinforced plastic, GT40 P cylinder heads, Ford motorsport stainless steel headers, Ford motorsport 10mm high performance plug leads, tremec five-speed gearbox with 3.7BTR limited slip differential and heavy duty half shafts. Optional extras included an aluminium radiator and large fuel tanks. Acquired by its third and current owner the following work was completed between 2022-2023; black interior installed, black carpet set installed, dashboard replaced, new smiths instruments fitted, new odometer fitted which has built in GPS system, 15” centre lock wheels fitted, full check-over of the electrics with warning light wired in and cut off switch installed in the boot and the fuel tanks have been removed, flushed and clean. The original odometer, dashboard and 16” wheels have been retained and are included in the sale along with both the tonneau covers, two keys, history file and a small set of spare parts.
