Single ownership from new, direct Rouse Team provenance and one of the rarest Sierra Cosworth derivatives ever produced. Developed by Touring Car legend Andy Rouse and his race engineering team in conjunction with Ford and Cosworth, the Rouse Sport 304-R represented the ultimate evolution of the road-going Sierra Sapphire Cosworth, produced in strictly limited numbers in both 2WD and 4x4 form. This 1991 four-wheel drive example is chassis #88 of the intended 100-car production run, although it is widely accepted that considerably fewer were ultimately completed, making these amongst the rarest of all production Cosworths. Supplied new in Diamond White to Dr Roger Melhuish, respected BTCC team doctor and close friend of Andy Rouse, who remained the car's one and only recorded keeper from new until his passing in 2022. Dr Melhuish personally selected build number 88 as his preferred lucky number, further enhancing the car's unique provenance and direct connection to the Rouse organisation. Believed to be one of only two Diamond White 304-R 4x4s currently registered in the UK, adding further appeal for collectors of significant performance Fords. Recommissioned at the family's request following Dr Melhuish's passing, benefiting from an extensive mechanical refurbishment including an engine rebuild, chassis repairs and running gear overhaul. Please note the rebuilt engine has covered minimal mileage and should be run in accordingly. Wisely retained in remarkably original condition, the bodywork displays only light age-related patina, offering the next custodian the choice of preserving its exceptional authenticity or undertaking cosmetic restoration if desired. Combining single ownership, outstanding originality, exceptionally low production numbers and an unquestionable connection to Andy Rouse and his legendary BTCC operation, this highly significant Rouse Sport 304-R represents a rare opportunity. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the rarity, provenance and originality on offer.
