The Ferrari 308 GTB offered here is one of the rarer and more sought-after cars with dry sump lubrication. It was delivered in mid-January 1982 by the official Ferrari dealership Sportgarage F. Leirer AG. The car has always been cherished and cared for, and the last owner had all the necessary work carried out regardless of the cost. For example, CHF 24,000 was recently invested in perfecting the technology. The on-board folder with original owner’s manual, service booklet and exhaust maintenance document is present. This beautiful Ferrari 308 GTB is in top-maintained and very original collector’s condition, veteran-tested and fresh from service with, among other things, a revised carburetor and new ignition coils. The Ferrari 308 GTB is one of Ferrari’s iconic models, which was produced from 1975 to 1985. A special variant of this model is the 308 GTB with steel bodywork and dry sump lubrication. This technology ensures that the oil is constantly supplied even under extreme cornering forces and inclines, which improves the lubrication and durability of the engine. Dry sump lubrication made the 308 GTB particularly popular with racing drivers and enthusiasts, who appreciated the additional reliability during sporty driving. Only the 308 GTB built for the European market until 1980 had an engine with dry sump lubrication. Cars for overseas and the 308 GTS and all later Berlinetta and Spider successor models with intake manifold injection had engines with wet sump lubrication. The European models with dry sump lubrication produced around 255 hp at 7,700 rpm. This was more than the US versions, which were somewhat throttled by stricter emissions regulations.
