This, impressive left-hand drive 1979 Escort RS1800 and its power unit were built by Kevin Davies Motorsport in 2022 to the ultimate FIA Group 4 ‘Tarmac’ rally spec and more recently it has been enhanced further with the addition of a Viking/Hollinger five-speed gearbox that has only done one event. It features Bilstein front and Reiger rear suspension, fully developed and sorted and the whole car was built to replicate a full period ‘Works’ specification. The result is a competitive, front running FIA Historic Escort, capable of competing in Europe at the very top level in its class or at any FIA or similar historic tarmac event today. It’s accompanied by FIA HTP papers valid until 31/12/2033, an International Competition Logbook, its UK V5C and a current MOT. Its first event was the Manx Rally at the end of 2022 in which it dominated, winning the class outright. Since then it has been used in a handful of high-profile tarmac events, including Rally Mallorca, Rally Sol de Ponent, Rally Costa Brava and Rally Legends San Marino (twice) where it has placed on the podium on several occasions and finished in every event it started. Being left-hand drive, it is particularly suitable for European events. Kevin Davies has personally looked after, maintained and run the car from new and is available to chat to any prospective buyer to confirm its history, condition and results. It has never had an accident and is always admired wherever it goes as one of the very best Historic ‘tarmac’ Escorts out there. A spares package is available by separate negotiation.
