The Lamborghini Espada Series III represents the final and most refined evolution of Lamborghini’s four-seat V12 Grand Tourer. Introduced in 1972, the Series III benefitted from several key improvements over earlier cars, including revised suspension geometry, uprated brakes and a more luxurious, ergonomically improved interior. Power continued to come from Lamborghini’s 3.9-litre quad-cam V12, now delivering around 350bhp in standard form, paired with either manual or automatic transmission. These later cars are widely regarded as the most usable of the Espada range, combining the model’s dramatic styling with improved drivability and comfort for long-distance touring. Offered here is a late production, right-hand drive Series III example and, according to the Lamborghini register, one of just 121 built. Chassis #9510 is understood to be among the final right-hand drive cars to leave the factory. Over the years, this Espada has been both privately owned and displayed within the Auto Glass family museum, which houses a notable collection of 'landmark' classic cars. Between 2002 and 2014, the car was entrusted to respected Lamborghini specialist, Colin Clarke Engineering, for a comprehensive rebuild. Following inspection, it was decided to carry out a full nut-and-bolt restoration, completed between 2008 and 2010, which included a complete body restoration, engine and gearbox rebuilds, overhaul of all running gear and a full interior retrim. The car was refinished in black, the underside treated for longevity and the interior retrimmed in grey leather to a high standard. It is also understood that the engine was uprated during this process and now produces in the region of 400bhp. Today, the Espada presents extremely well, with the quality of the restoration still evident throughout. The paintwork displays a consistent finish across the bodywork, the engine bay remains clean and well detailed, and the interior shows minimal signs of wear, reflecting careful use and correct storage in recent years. It's accompanied by a history file including a bespoke volume produced by Colin Clarke Engineering documenting the restoration in detail. There is also supporting documentation confirming chassis and engine numbers, a current V5C registration document and a copy of the Espada driver's handbook.
