The Mercedes-Benz SLC was introduced at a time when the brand was firmly establishing its reputation for engineering excellence and understated luxury. Based on the SL, but stretched and subtly reinterpreted, it offered something more practical without losing the essential elegance of the original concept. The 350 SLC, powered by the 3.5-litre V8 with Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection, delivers the smooth, unhurried performance that defined Mercedes-Benz in this era. In combination with the rare 4-speed manual gearbox, it becomes a far more engaging proposition, adding an additional layer of involvement to an otherwise serene grand tourer. This example, finished in Byzanz Gold Metallic with a light grey interior, captures the period perfectly. It is an elegant and uncommon specification, further enhanced by its restored condition. The body and paint present well, the interior has been renewed with care, and mechanically the car performs as it should, offering the reassuring solidity expected of a Mercedes-Benz of this generation. While documentation has been lost over time, the car is supplied with German registration and presents as a well-sorted, usable classic. More than anything, this is a 350 SLC that appeals through its combination of rarity, colour, and specification. A comfortable and distinctive coupé that embodies the charm of Mercedes-Benz in the 1970s—unfussy, solid, and quietly desirable.
