This lovely Pagoda, equipped with an automatic gearbox, was completed on the 13th of October 1970 and first registered in the USA on the 1st of March 1971. According to the vendor, in 2014 the cabriolet, with then 89’000 miles driven, was acquired from its first owner from New Mexico and in April 2017 sold again to the current owner. After importation into Switzerland, the SL was extensively adapted to current Swiss requirements towards the end of 2017. Amongst other things all water hoses were replaced, new dampers installed front and back, the a/c received an overhaul, a stainless-steel exhaust system was installed together with an electronic ignition system and four new white-wall tyres were fitted at the same time. Receipts exceeding 30’000 Francs for all the work are available and will be handed over with the car. Later, the cabriolet received a new Sonnenland soft top in its original colour and in 2022 the gearbox was overhauled by a German specialist. With now 94’900 miles driven and still in its original combination of blue metallic with blue leather and a blue soft top, the matching-number (engine and gearbox) example with its hardtop is in technically very good condition, shows age correct signs of use and comes with the last Veteran MOT completed in April 2018.
