1968 JAGUAR E-TYPE «FIXED HEAD COUPÉ» 4.2 (SERIES II) IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. FULLY RESTORED A FEW YEARS AGO, IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. THE E-TYPE WAS PRESENTED ON MARCH 15, 1961, USING AS A BASE THE D-TYPE THAT HAD ALREADY WON 3 CONSECUTIVE TIMES AT 24H LE MANS, IT WAS VERY INNOVATIVE IN ITS DESIGN AND PRESENTED INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCES FOR THE TIME. IN 1961 ENZO FERRARI SAID THAT THE E-TYPE WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CAR EVER MADE AND IS NOW CONSIDERED BY MANY TO BE THE MOST ICONIC CLASSIC OF THE 60S. THE SERIES 2 WAS INTRODUCED IN 1968 AND HAD A NUMBER OF DESIGN CHANGES, LARGELY DUE TO U.S. NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND SAFETY ADMINISTRATION REGULATIONS. THE MOST DISTINCTIVE EXTERIOR FEATURE IS THE ABSENCE OF THE GLASS HEADLIGHT COVERS, WRAP-AROUND REAR BUMPER WITH TAIL LIGHTS RE-POSITIONED BELOW IT, LARGER FRONT INDICATORS, AN ENLARGED FRONT GRILLE AND TWIN ELECTRIC FANS TO AID COOLING. THE US VERSIONS HAD TWIN TWO-BARREL STROMBERGS INSTEAD OF THE THREE SUS FOUND IN EU SPEC CARS.
