Giotto Bizzarrini, who died in May 2023, was a former Ferrari chief engineer and designer of the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO. After a dispute with Enzo Ferrari and the subsequent dismissal, he founded his own company in the 1960s, which was initially called "Autostar" and from 1965 was known as "Automobile Bizzarrini SpA". Initially he mainly built cars and engines for Ferrari, Lamborghini and Iso Grifo and in 1963 he began building cars under his own name with the Bizzarrini GT 5300. The car offered here is one of the last examples built before Bizzarrini went bankrupt in 1969. It could no longer be completed at that time, and so the chassis and a large package of parts were bought from the bankruptcy estate in 1973 by an Italian. In 2010, the Bizzarrini became the property of Mr. Mario M., also Italian, who immediately began restoring it to the highest standards of originality. He was supported by Stefano Volpi, Bizzarrini's former chief racing mechanic. From 2015-2018, a German company, in coordination with the previous owner and with the help of Stefano Volpi, completed the GT5300 with the greatest effort and expertise. Where possible, the original parts from the 1960s were used. The character of the car has been enhanced through the use of various "Corsa specifications", the engine has been rebuilt with racing parts and has around 400 hp. The Bizzarrini has been registered in Germany with historical license plates since 2019 and has only driven 300 km since the restoration work was completed.
