“Great cars are not created by committees” The Porsche 356. The car that started it all for Porsche. Ferdinand Porsche Senior designed the iconic Volkswagen Beetle in 1931, but it was his son, Ferry Porsche, who laid the foundation for a true revolution on wheels in 1939: the Porsche 356. Initially borrowed from Volkswagen, the technology was soon thoroughly overhauled by Porsche. The engine, gearbox, interior and steering were improved with German precision. And then... there was light. In 1948 the first prototypes came to life and the world was never the same again. The new Porsches sold like hotcakes, and why not? With aerodynamics that made the sky blush, handling that hugged the road like an old friend, and build quality that would make a tank jealous, the 356 managed to impress everyone. And the best part? It was an everyday car. The basic principles of Porsche, to this day. Ours? Exactly as you would expect. She has been here in the Netherlands since 2003 and has only shown herself when the weather is nice. She has been inspected, pampered and maintained at Porsche Centrum Gelderland and is ready to hit the road straight away. So, buckle up, start the engine and feel the echo of the big bang that became Porsche. This is not just driving, this is Porsche driving. “In 1948 Mr. Porsche decided any car that merely got you from here to there, just didn't go far enough”
