The Giulia Spider belongs to Alfa Romeo's 101 series. The convertible was unveiled alongside the Giulia TI and Giulia Sprint GT in Monza in the summer of 1962. The car was largely identical to its predecessor, the Giulietta Spider, and was also built by Pininfarina. The 1600 cc engine with 92 hp was the same as in the Giulia Sprint and allowed a top speed of 172 km/h. The external differences to the previous model were minor. The body was extended by a few centimeters behind the door to increase passenger space, an air scoop was added to the bonnet to accommodate the larger engine, and the previously single-piece side windows were given small triangular windows at the front. The Giulia on offer is a Swiss delivery, built on 12 July 1962 and delivered to Alfa Romeo Lugano on 13 July. Presumably, the pretty convertible remained unsold for some time or served as the dealer's private car – in any case, it was not first registered until 1967 in the canton of Ticino. In March 2021, the Giulia was taken over from its female owner by the consignor and added to his collection. Many years ago, the Alfa Romeo was fitted with an technical identical replacement engine of the type AR00536, manufactured in 1965, and was probably restored a few years ago. Still in its original combination of ‘rosso’ with black imitation leather upholstery, the Giulia is in good to very good condition and will be handed over to a new owner with its last veteran MOT completed in April 2021.
